What's bothering him is his birth mom not being an everyday part of his life. He is dealing with rejection/Mommy issues. He definitely needs counseling on a regular basis.
I think Desmond needs to take Corey out for the day (just them two) and address this situation before it gets worse. With that said, kids act out. There is also a new addition to the family. He is in a new state, new school, and trying to make new friends. All these could be contributing factors to his behavior. I can tell he is a good kid. You guys are raising him right. As he gets older and matures, his thought process will start to change.

Put yourself in your son’s shoes for a minute. There are so many factors in his short life that are contributing to his behavior. As a stepmom myself with a degree of baby mama drama,my advice is to be consistent,speak with kindness(that’s not to say don’t discipline)and explain everything. This is so sad. I’m a silent viewer and I always like your videos. But this, this is heartbreaking. I don’t understand why Cory lies. My opinion is he is just trying to please his mom. Like lying is the way they bond. At the end of the day it’s probably all for her attention and he knows that that’s the way it gets her going and that’s how he can get her to call and check in with him so it makes him feel loved, if that makes any sense? Hi Kiara👋😊 I raised my stepson from when he was 9 yrs old he is now 25 and let me tell you it was the hardest thing I ever did. Raising kids his hard but raising another women’s child is even harder. I’ve had baby momma drama forever but you have to nip it in the butt. Supervised phone calls is a must. Phone call only when dad is around. Don’t let her pull you into her bullshit act like it doesn’t affect you. Don’t Talk about her in front of Cory... Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need advice from somebody who has gone through what your going through. This is nothing compared to some of the things that I’ve gone through. I would never want anyone to go through what I went through. Don’t get upset about the lies as a little kid he just wants approval from mom and he is going to say what he thinks she wants to hear. Many, many props to you Kiara. What you’re going through sounds so much like what my mom went through with my siblings. They’d lie on her and tell their mother whatever she wanted to hear even though she literally was never around. It broke my heart watching my mama go through that growing up. She raised 4 kids that weren’t hers and I swear until she passed away she didn’t get the gratitude that she deserved. I hope that you guys can overcome this. Remember Corey is a child and he probably in a sense feels abandoned by his mom and he wants her to love and praise him-even if it’s a lie. Definitely isn’t right but that’s how some kids are. I would check into getting him into therapy so he can have an outside source talk to him and show him how things really are. It may help him tons. Again, I commend you so so much. We have 50/50 custody of my step daughter too and the drama is insane. she got her an iPhone it was so she can FaceTime her and it’s horrible. Let me tell you I’ve caught her showing her mom my house!!! She calls, text and FaceTimes multiple times, it’s tuff because she lies on us too. It’s ridiculous but let karma ride its wave. I just want to secondly say, to keep your head up and continue to be a strong mother/wife for your family. You and Desmond (from What I see) do an incredible job with the kids. I am a step mother of a blended family and I understand it from both sides. I also came from a blended family and I took my cues from my mother whom always gave biblical advice on how to deal with any situation. It’s difficult and you can’t let her bait you into her negativity because at the end of the day, it’s the child who is stuck in the middle. It’s definitely hard for him to be in between all the drama. The best way to handle it is through prayer - it changes all things. You continue to do what you’re doing and don’t take it personal. Our children are grown now but I can tell you looking back I know I made it through with prayer. If you want to contact me and talk and pray I will be glad to do so.

You know I feel like Corey feels like the only way to have some kind of relationship with his mom is for him to do what she says, and disobey what you guys do for him. He doesn’t understand. I mean when I was younger my dad isn’t my biological father, and because of that I used to have so much animosity towards him, but now I’m older and I realized that biology doesn’t make a PARENT. My dad did everything a dad is supposed to do, and more. Corey will grow up and realize that you’re the best MOM and you were there for him. Just keep doing you and being there for him. 💕

Hi Kiara👋😊 I raised my stepson from when he was 9 yrs old he is now 25 and let me tell you it was the hardest thing I ever did. Raising kids his hard but raising another women’s child is even harder. I’ve had baby momma drama forever but you have to nip it in the butt. Supervised phone calls is a must. Phone call only when dad is around. Don’t let her pull you into her bullshit act like it doesn’t affect you. Don’t Talk about her in front of Cory... Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need advice from somebody who has gone through what your going through. This is nothing compared to some of the things that I’ve gone through. I would never want anyone to go through what I went through. Don’t get upset about the lies as a little kid he just wants approval from mom and he is going to say what he thinks she wants to hear. Many, many props to you Kiara. What you’re going through sounds so much like what my mom went through with my siblings. They’d lie on her and tell their mother whatever she wanted to hear even though she literally was never around. It broke my heart watching my mama go through that growing up. She raised 4 kids that weren’t hers and I swear until she passed away she didn’t get the gratitude that she deserved. I hope that you guys can overcome this. Remember Corey is a child and he probably in a sense feels abandoned by his mom and he wants her to love and praise him-even if it’s a lie. Definitely isn’t right but that’s how some kids are. I would check into getting him into therapy so he can have an outside source talk to him and show him how things really are. It may help him tons. Again, I commend you so so much. We have 50/50 custody of my step daughter too and the drama is insane. she got her an iPhone it was so she can FaceTime her and it’s horrible. I am a step mother of a blended family and I understand it from both sides. I also came from a blended family and I took my cues from my mother whom always gave biblical advice on how to deal with any situation. It’s difficult and you can’t let her bait you into her negativity because at the end of the day, it’s the child who is stuck in the middle. It’s definitely hard for him to be in between all the drama. The best way to handle it is through prayer - it changes all things. You continue to do what you’re doing and don’t take it personal. Our children are grown now but I can tell you looking back I know I made it through with prayer. If you want to contact me and talk and pray I will be glad to do so.

I think he is acting out because he does need his mom in his life more than what she's doing and it's not your fault but he does need her and he needs more of her and that's why he's acting out because my son did the same thing when he was living with his Dad he was cutting up at school and I feel like that's what he needs his mom.

You know I feel like Corey feels like the only way to have some kind of relationship with his mom is for him to do what she says, and disobey what you guys do for him. He doesn’t understand. I mean when I was younger my dad isn’t my biological father, and because of that I used to have so much animosity towards him, but now I’m older and I realized that biology doesn’t make a PARENT. My dad did everything a dad is supposed to do, and more. Corey will grow up and realize that you’re the best MOM and you were there for him. Just keep doing you and being there for him. 💕
