Love this band. One of my all time favorite songs. This was the last song they did at a concert I went to see in 92 it was the first time seeing them. My cousin went to the concert with me and just about a month after it she passed away. An every time I hear this song I think about her and wish that she would gotten her bone marrow transplant and maybe she would've lived a lot longer. But cancer took her away at the age of 26. I love and miss you Sherry Lyn Bennett. Gone but not forgotten.
Rock and Roll heaven....what a houseband. Can't wait for my seat in the Front Row! RIP Ronnie from the Front row at JFK stadium in 77 till we meet again!
Best best rock and roll band that ever lived on this Earth free free that's the key word here in 2020 something we're not now I Love you Free Bird and I'm sure you know how many people listen to your last song at their funeral I love you man I love you guys
I have loved Skynard since I was a kid and now in passing that same great feeling and awesome music on to my grandkids. Everything great in my life happened while Skynard was playing. Never in my life have I felt as alive than with Skynard! RIP to you and thanks for the music, memories and life.
I still have the original 1976 LP album with Free Bird on it sort of like a living memory-trophy of living the era of the best of rock, IMHO. These guys here are amazing at keeping the memories alive and I'm thrilled that the music transcends time and even generations. It's good stuff. To the old farts and farteses who forgot or outgrew that aspect of themselves I feel sorry for you and what you let go of. This music energizes and reenergizes youth, that can do, that curiosity of things always. If you ever outgrow it just dig that 6' hole and fall in it. Age is a number. Never chose to lose. Enjoy yesterday, today, tomorrow and beyond. You never have to grow old. (brain farts) Peace
@@timberwolfpowler8747 Good for you! I wish you well. I always wanted to play guitar, but I have a handicapped left hand I've had since birth which unfortunately ruined that for me.
Gary Rossington has a sound all of his own, there is noone that can ever get his slide guitar solo just right, there an interview on youtube from the band that talks about a time he got sick and spary and ricky was trying to decide which of them would do Gary's slide solo, and sparky said he tried it at home with Gary's guitar and equipment and in his words said it just about ruined him cause he couldnt figure it out lol. Gary says its all about finding the notes but i believe its just him and his touch, i believe gary is such a underrated amazing guitarist amd one of the very best to ever live. Long Live the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band and everyone up in Rock and Roll Heaven.
I was truly lucky to see them live, and made it that much more memorable that my mom was pregnant with me in 91' and I got to see them live as an adult. Truly amazing.. yes.. i cried..
@@jordananderson8299 dude, that is funny. I was/ still so confused. Lol I must have commented when my phone was in my pocket or something. My bad.. fml 🤣🤣

its incredible especially with what gary has went through, and his age is starting to take a toll on him, becoming very noticeable, so i am glad that they are going out on a Tour like this, rather than them wait until he passes on, so at least they go on a good note
I love Skynrd and this song is arguably my favorite. But this particular time, Rossington's playing doesn't seems to be as tight on the slide. Still great nonetheless.
The day Gary Rossington is no longer here; that's the day Lynyrd Skynyrd is over, in my opinion. Going to see them August 30, 2019. No more Gary, no more concerts for me!
Lynard skynard is one of the greastest bands in the world ive been to more skynard concerts than i can count and freebird is the greasest songs ever wrote im a proud supporter of lynard skynard ive got the hood of my trailblazer with a rebel flag painted on it keep the rebel flags flying my trailblazer is done like that as a tribute to lynard skynard and all the years they have been playing music even if you go to other concerts for other bands you hadnt been to a concert till you have been to a skynard concert
Sorry but that's not skynyrd.closest to.skynyrd since that tragic day in 1977 was the reunion 10 yr anniversary in 87 with artimus ed king billy powell
I find it really weird they’re still going with just gary rossington. They should give em selves a different name to leave the real rock legends to rest.

I still have the original street survivors album with the flames. Came out right after I saw them at old JFK stadium in Philly in 77. Kind of eerie!
Are you talking about "One more for slash from the road"? The one recorded at The Fox in Atlanta???
I listen to Skynyrd as much or maybe more now at 59 than I did at 15 in 1974-1975!

The first time I heard the slide guitar solo, it made me shed a tear. Long live Lynard Skynyrd.
Rossington is the best on slide. Notice the piece of metal at the first fret to make the strings higher to get the right sound.

Probably The Greatest Band ever. Not forgotten Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, AcDc
If he hadn't took the lead singer spot that would have been the end of the band
Ronnie vanzant died in a plane crash don’t be hating on Johnny he took the spot cause he felt it was right because he wanted the music to stay alive
Indeed
