    I made my living playing music for 2 decades. I've known hundreds of musicians in my time. I've played with prima donnas, the most humble, and everything in between. Let me tell you: Most musicians never really grow up. Something about this life, the lifestyle, the attitude...all of it. But many, many musicians remain children their entire lives. Bob Burns is not one of those. Mr. Burns grew up. If a fraction of his humility and good spirit were shared with the world it would be oh-so-much a better place. RIP Mr. Bob Burns. You left a grand legacy for us.

    This man seemed like he was as genuine as they come. I could listen to him talk for hours. I know if I ever had the chance to meet and chat with him, those waste of time questions wouldn't ever come out of my mouth. What a sweet soul. We've lost a great number of magical musicians in the past few years, and it truly saddens me. Us 50+ year Olds were truly blessed to have rock n rolls greatest musicians in our lives playing music for us that will never be duplicated. I thank each and every one of them for touching our hearts and souls. Peace to all. ✌

    I played piano with Bob for several years up till his death. He was always smiling and upbeat, loved what I brought to his band, and never hesitated to say kind things to us all. Bob was very cool and laid back, often telling us stories about the good old days with L.S. But he was bigger than life when he sat on his drum throne, like he had a majestic aura about him. I spent an all nighter with him at Eddie Grey's house (former drummer for Travis Tritt) and recall us going to Walmart at 4:00 a.m. because Eddie had to have a new TV. I guess you had to be there, but it was pretty crazy.
    Before joining his project band, Bob often sat in on drums with various local bands I was in since I was 20 years old. I'm 53 now, and think about Bob often. I really do miss him.

      GlennJiles That was great to hear. The man was great to hang out with. His left field sense of humor was hilarious and if I didn't get the joke he'd look at me and then give a really big smile and then it would hit you, cause his thinking was so much faster and higher up than ours. I miss that a lot from him. Glenn I too had a few nights where he'd say 'Alright everybody in the SUV we're gonna go do something'. Wow sure miss that instant surprise at any moment. Hell one night he said OK we're all going to stay at the beach at the hotel get in the SUV . I'm LMAO right now 😂. He was so cool that you could scream from the livinng room Hey you mfr what the hell you doing? ! Bob would holler back from the kitchen MFR I be making me a sandwich and pouring me a coke! Then he'd walk back in with 2 sandwiches and 2 cokes cause he was always thinking of other people. ..and that's just how damn cool Bob was.......

      sonny freeman Hurtful remarks about Bob? Bob did go crazy in Europe - by Gary's and Ed's and Ronnie's and everyone's accounts. He snapped. Even Bob said it. Those remarks by Gary or Ed or anyone weren't said in hate or disrespect, they were said to explain what the hell happened with Bob and why they had no choice but to part ways with him. I mean he skinned a cat and threw it to its death from a hotel balcony among other things. He flat out lost his mind. Just a fact. And for the record I totally prefer Bob's drumming in Skynyrd to Artimus'. And I far prefer Bob as a person to Artimus who is a total fraud,

    • @joleneloveland2942
      @joleneloveland2942 5 років тому +10

      @Ivan. I think Bob must have been plagued by certain disorders that kept him from actualizing his full potential musically. And knowing this, he is such a gracious man about it. He has nothing bad at all to say about Artimus! How cool he is! He reflects Ronnie's spirit through his words. And he truly knows what its all about! What a great guy!
      I would have to wonder about the cat incident, he looks and appears too sensitive to have that type of cruelty in him.
      And as for Artie, Ronnie loved Artie also, so are you saying Ronnie hired a fraud? I think Ronnie was always very aware of what he was doing in regards to the band. So you are criticizing Ronnie's choice?

I dated a different Bob Burns in highschool who would tell everyone that he played drums for LS. So, when I met This Bob Burns, I thought to myself 'Huh?? How odd that I know of 3 Bob Burns.' I think I mumbled to him that I knew of two other Bob Burns. The first time I ever walked into his living room, I saw all of the gold and platinum albums on his wall. Then I said, "OH!! I feel such a strong spiritual connect to you guys Bob. It seems like many morings I have Skynyrd Tune playing in my head and Ill have to start singing one of my tunes to make it go away. You guys had a strong brotherly bond and yall had so much fun playing all those gigs and just lived music to the fullest. You inspire me to keep with it. I love you Bob, I wish I could been your friend!

    they are my favorite band in the world these southern boys brought a sound that will live on in the hearts of the common man forever just as the words of Freebird will you still remember me and the answer yes they brought music of a nation the south that is just like the voice Sam Elliot. the 3 guitar harmony and Ronnie a southern poet like no other as good as any in the world and what is probably the greatest thing about the songs was it showed the south as just some real good ole boys that loved living life and just having a good time and not once was racism apart of anything. These guys put a sound together that changed a country. GOD BLESS THEM ALL AND THANKS SO MUCH FOR WHAT YOU GAVE US THE FANS

      The day of the crash is indelibly imprinted in my minds' eye for eternity...in Va Beach it was sunny and comfortable, about 55 or 60 degrees. I woke up to go to work and the radio said the plane crashed and Ronnie, Steve and Cassie were gone - among others. I was in total shock. Got to work and got the newspaper of headline news were photos of Ronnie and the story as it was emerging in the hours after the crash...I was so effected, I left at lunch and went home and cried.

      @ Lee Verrill- I graduated in 77 as well. Left for college in September, with my Lynyrd Skynyrd records, among others, in tow. I was pretty occupied and hadn't heard the news. My little sister cut an article out of the Tampa paper and mailed it to me. I was stunned.

    I saw Bob a few years ago, sitting in with an opening act act at a club called Amos Southend in Charlotte, N.C., playing a couple of songs. Everybody went wild. I know and knew then who Bob was, but I wondered why all the excitement? Then, it hit me. The Skynyrd songs that classic rock radio plays, that's Bob on the drums. Yes, he left a legacy and now he's another chapter in the book of Lynyrd Skynyrd tragedies.
