Thanks and welcome to the channel! Feel free to watch some of my older videos as well I have playlist made 💪🏻. I love the TL it’s a great car and once I get this engine back in this thing is gonna be even more fun!
Yea I’m not getting them too tight just looks that way on camera gotta love the cheap harbor freight impact it’s trigger control is awesome I can make that thing go slow or fast but I know what you mean. I did it to a d series with a wrench lol 😂
Got a car trying to fix from bad fuel or too much sludge. Eventually parked it after spraying carb cleaner thru the cone filter and fuel tank since the fuel treatment was about to stall it out but this kept it idling. But spray through the filter must have hesitated the engine since the maf sensor is clipped into the adapter pipe. Then i tried flushing it with shell 87 but it was half water & so the idle was bouncing for minutes and stalled. But it cut back on & off after 5 minute idle. Iso-heet didnt help much along with 91% isopropyl alcohol. But i hit lift and felt the sludge coat the heads while feeling a split second hiccup as it hit lift. 2nd time it just felt like the oil was diluted & heard the valves rattle like my buddys sonata except his did it accelerating at 2500 rpm lol
You can without both on a d series at least but I wouldn’t. Now if you have a idle going up and down that’s a vacuum leak somewhere most likely. Sounds like you have a fun project on your hands
Another great video for sure going to do this next was looking for the V2 AEM intake but there all sold out so I got lighter wheels instead. P2R is local I think by me I have a extra set of runners maybe I can bring drop those off and make me one
Need to watch out for the knock sensor wire if it is still on the car. I accidentally broke it when I did mine a few years back and had to wait a week for it to arrive from Honda
Hey can you make a video showing the exhaust manifolds since you have them out? Showing how the manifolds look for a possible twin turbo and also showing how the J pipe sits compared to the OEM ones?
Texas Honda Channel , thanks for clarifying . I thought maybe the J pipe was larger diameter, removed cats, or was a different design. Is it a one piece that mates up to both sides or is it a slip-type into a collector then to flange. The reason I ask is if a turbo is used on each side , would it need to be mated to two individual runs, or collect at a certain point. I’m not as familiar with Jseries engines and the variations that are out there.
You can install the gasket without the spacer just fine. That's what I'm doing because of hood clearance issues I can't run j37 manifold with spacer unfortunately. I found a thread about somone trying it but had to intsal hood spacer and I ain't doing that! Lol
Hey Texas I'm building my 2004 Acura tl 6mt got the suspension brakes and mounts for the engine and tranny done and the clutch now I need to do the exhaust but after that it's the heads and intake.... P2r or halferland performance some of HLP's items are cheaper I wonder which one is better for NA builds
What’s the thoughts on the solid motor mounts? I really wanna get them but have mixed reviews on them going bad with the heat from the engine and if so which brand
I have a video I just did on solid mounts. They didn’t make it uncomfortable to drive they definitely stiffened up the engine and allowed for it to not wheel hop now. Slight vibration in the steering but that’s it. That’s just due to it being solid. Check out my other video. Highly recommend them. Innovative mounts btw I did the 75a
@@TexasHondaChannel and they won’t deteriorate from the heat? And yeah I saw that video and loved it which brought me to the question 😂really appreciate it
Are you able to provide a parts number for the o-rings and knock sensor? I have a J35Y2 and I'm trying to figure out what part I need...you said o-rings crack and knock sensor must be replaced?
Nothing. I just wanna build it and since there is nothing wrong with it and I know for a fact it’s good then it will be a great candidate for mods. That means less machine worked or issues I’ll run into. The junkyard engine has a warranty so if I break it I can take it back lol 😂
Why did you go with p2r runners? I feel just because they are CNC ported doesn’t make them better I’ve seen both and the work that halferland performance did was great plus they’re matched to the manifold got it all done at one and knife edged and ported throttle body as well can’t wait to get them put on the Accord!
These have been proven to work and I wanted these. I’m not saying halferland is bad but I wanted these and there are many other people who have had good luck and they are larger and great quality so I’m sure they work fine. Dyno tests will show for sure.
@@TexasHondaChannel Thanks for the response. I see what you’re saying but looking at them both side by side seems like the halferland ones have more material removed so in theory they should flow better but I’m sure the difference is minimal. Also what is your opinion on running a lightweight crank pulley while making a lot of power? I’m worried about damaging my engine if I ever decide to go turbo and have a lightweight pulley. I come from v8 ls2 platforms and they don’t make aluminum pullies because it will cause the crank to flex and snap even.
@@HondaAccordPerformance well I’m not real expert but light weight pulley without damper might damage something but also not sure with the J series haven’t blown any up lol 😂
I have a 2006 Acura MDX 3.5L. Can I swap out the Intake Manifold for a 2008 Honda Odyssey from a Mini van 3.7 Intake Manifold? And, do I have to cahnge the TB or can I use my stock TB?
I don’t do work for others really. I would charge and that would make me a business which my house isn’t zoned for. Trust me the Karen’s in my neighborhood ruined a lot for me. I’m barley able to do what I’m doing now.
No, not at all. Obviously, if you were building an engine from scratch up, it would be much easier to do so, since you wouldn’t run into other issues from parts being in the way.
and do you have any idea to do pvc delete on this engine? i opened the intake manifold apart just like yours i took hours of cleaning, definitely don’t want the engine suck in oil
@@MBZXZ I don’t want to do a cat delete. I actually like having my pre cats. If I was to do anything it would be high flow cats but I don’t have $700 laying around for the Rev9 high flow cats. Maybe one day I’ll get them but not in the cards for right now.
@@TexasHondaChannel haha make sense, does this 3.2 engine has the type s oil spray on the pistons? are you doing 3.5 crank swap? i having very bad luck on my j35a8 , a lot of bolt striped.
Have you ever upgraded your tps sensor on the j series? I see p2r sells them but what does it do? I understand the k series one is more adjustable or sonthing? Can you elaborate? I've done the j37 manifold upgrade and it will do the rev bounce when I push the clutch in and coast but I adjusted the cable tighter to eliminate it as much as possible. Idk if you've tried this but I've been using this throttle controller called "Sprint Booster" and it makes my throttle behave 1 to 1 like a cable throttle. I'm not sure if you cab adjust throttle quickness with a tune but mine probably runs lean. You are much more advanced with your builds than me but for people that don't want to spend all needed for a tune on our 7gen accord this mod is a fun improvement.
Hey James I got a d-series question. I have a civic with a D16Y8 with manual transmission and a matching ECU. The engine is blown. I have a spare d16y 7 with an automatic ECU and wiring harness. Can I swap out the engine, wiring harness and ECU ? Will the automatic ECU work with the manual transmission?
Does anyone know if the P2R lower runners from a 3.5L 8th Gen accord will bolt up to a 3.0L 7th Gen accord. A friend of mine is selling his from his 8th Gen and I'd like them for my car if they fit
It flows so much better which increases your throttle response and a average 10hp gain depending on other supporting mods. It should help shift the powerband lower which means more power quicker.
3-5 whp. With the better 3.7 intake/ Throttle body with p2r runners close to 10-15 whp. My brother in law made 12whp on his 2006 auto tl went from 226whp@ 6100 to 238whp@6300. It sounds like small hp gains but the car is night and day difference
