The only reason I would convert a gt to a gtr, is to have gtr with a wide bodykit, I don’t feel right cutting up an actual gtr
That's fair! Though I haven't ever seen a widebody GTR I actually like tbh. I prefer the stock dimensions
By widebody, I mean the stock fenders, just a bit wider than stock, to where you can tell it’s wider than stock but subtle
At some point that may be the only way to have a GTR.
Imho it’s like restoring a lower trim muscle car but putting in a nicer engine to replicate a nicer car (e.g. a replica 1968 GT500)
@Und34d_R the vin number makes it a GTR you can easily use stagea chassis rails and front floor pan hump to build a awd clone.
The gearbox gets swapped for a sequential anyway, drivetrain upgraded so it all comes down to what you want
You can import them now since the 25 year limit is up
@@Indy3pct.rright, but they’re regularly being sold for $100k+, with higher trims like the V-Spec Nur going for at least double that in good condition. This is an expensive build but he’s probably going to save about $100k over a similarly equipped GTR.
Sad honestly. For the price you could fine several other cars that are faster and better in general. Really love the r34 too but never could see myself spending 100k+ on something thats more if a novelty
it's a rough world we live in
Thanks American, you've inflated the price of these once affordable cars for everyone else.
I don't think it matters anymore. Rich people who have no sense of value anymore have allowed all these sellers to get away with this nonsense.
@@TheRacingJoker Being a Brit we've been fortunate enough to have access to these cars for years.
The R34 GT-R was actually available here officially.
It even gained some parts the JDM models didn't have like Connolly leather seats & extra coolers.
You could pick up some Skylines for 10k.
Someone I knew had an R33 GT-R V-Spec N1 that cost him 12k.
To see these cars with 6 figures in the windscreen just goes against everything these cars once stood for, affordable performance.
@@Zerofightervi affordable performance. This is why the market ticks me off so much.
@@TheRacingJoker There's still the Mitsubishi 3000 GT 🤷🏻♂️
@@ZerofighterviGee thanks, now the price of those has skyrocketed 😂
About time we start appreciating old cars in their original form
If that’s your style! I’ve never been big on stock tbh
You sound like Asmon gold when I close my eyes
Huh that’s interesting. I mean I do watch his stuff a fair bit nowadays lol
A gtr conversion only costs this much if you let it.
If you know some good deals on original GTR parts I’d love to know the secret
Literally just go buy like a 6 speed 911 turbo at that point
You can get a Huracan for some of what these cars are going for
That's what I'm doing in my garage conversion from gtt to gtr body, I have done three of so far with the genuine quarter panel absolutely amazing result.
That’s awesome. It looks just that much better with the GTR fitment.
27k and change isn't even that bad for a built RB26DETT, its atleast 10K more for a complete TC24-B1Z from OS Giken that uses an L-series straight-6 as the base. Either might as well be a million bucks cuz I couldn't afford it one way or the other lol
It's honestly not a bad price. Heck the BMW S65 crate engine I want ranges from 45k to 65k
If you don't mind the r33 interior and tail lights, here is another option:
R33 coupe
R34 Bee*r front conversion
Whatever powertrain you like
Done.
Also, Bee*r is exactly what you think. The dude thought beer was good, so the name is good. Hence, the name BEE*R.
And Tomei sells BRAND NEW RB engines!
but you can also do those things overtime instead of spending 150k right away
True! If that works better for you.
Also you have to make it awd
Agreed! I’ve seen people use R33 GTR parts to do that
That engine price is for long block only I'm pretty sure? Rhat doesn't include turbo ect...?
No it doesn't include things like the turbo
🎉i want now and then
"I want 'em all"
16k$ for a fender conversion?? That is overpriced af. I bought the panels 2 months ago in japan for a total of around 2k, got them delivered to me to germany for another 1.5k and got a quote for 3k to install them on my car (including inner fender extension). That would be a total of 6.5k€ which would be around 7kUSD. Whoever gave you that install quote is ripping you off ^^"
For the steel quarter panels, fuel lid and paint they qouted you 7 grand? That’s a huge price discrepancy
@@TheRacingJoker ahh, you meant including paint ^^"
I´m going to paint myself so that is not calculated into that but even so 16k is still quite a lot even with painting. Dont know how much it costs to paint a car in the us but here in germany 6-7k is a realistic price. That would theoretically total out at ~13-14k
@@TheRacingJoker and btw. dont just look at oneprice offers like at garageDefend for an r34. Auctions are your best bet (even though there is a lot of shit in there). Got mine frome the auctions aswell and payed around 35k USD including registration here in germany.
@@sgtkloikloi2549 I started looking at the auctions again recently. I just wish there was a place where I could see Japan auction sales results
Remember they want thos expensive until they hit the states.
Why start with an expensive and engine if its all coming out?
Finding an R34 GTT coupe for less than 25k to 50k is not easy
At that point just get a gtr.
If you can I guess do it 🫡 it’s either gonna stabilise or get worse
@@TheRacingJoker personally im still aiming for a nur spec for the r34s specifically. Hopefully when i get the chance to go to japan once i join the military i can maybe get one for a fairer price.
@@nashidaperv2351I haven’t looked at the v spec II Nur market in a while. But the m spec nur is still at the 300k margin
@@nashidaperv2351All skyline Gtrs have the same engine no? So isn't it better to get a base GTR and save some cash for mods
@@BrandonS2K43 thats what im saying. It costs a whole gtr to convert a gtt to a gtr, so just get one from the get go and save the hassle. Its better to just save up for a barebones base gtr or v spec and mod that. Also gotta think of resale value, a genuine gtr will always sell more than a converted one.
Can I ask one question? how much was all of this just for the body conversion?
Rear quarter panel conversion is 16k ish. After that it depends on what paint and bodykit you want
@TheRacingJoker "Bodykit"? No, no body kit. OEM BNR34 complete front end. Fenders, bumper, hood and all associated conversion pieces. Around $10k painted with the Xenons...
Edit: *without xenons
Where's the full video
Bottom left
More money than brains i guess
The market is so dumb. And the people with too much money to see value anymore make it even worse
I like the gtt better. You can actually do burn outs
One of my friends has an R32 GTR with a switch that allows him to put all the power to the rear if he ever wants to make some smoke
For the love of god please don’t cut up a lighting yellow Nissan from the 90s. That’s literally the rarest color for skyline and Silvia. Just get a standard color gtt and repaint it please bro😢
I’d prefer a black one. Keeps colour changes simple
Why would you do all that when you can buy a gtr for the same price you are paying anyway
This is from a longer video trying to see if a GTR is worth the current market prices (140k and more). The conclusion is up to the audience
The price of these cars is too exaggerated. There are so many better cars you could get for that amount of money.
Someone with more money than sense. A fools errand.
I’ve got a follow up video that I think people will find interesting
Good
Very good
Dash and interiors diffrent. You dont get 4 wheel turning on a gtt
I can live without the four wheel steering tbh. And I’d personally do a custom leather and alcantara interior
@TheRacingJoker I was just pointing out it's a little bit more than engine and body kit 😅 to make a true GTR
@@keepitzippeda proper conversion is a super involved project. Wiring, interior work, steel quarters, GTR drivetrain swap parts, the engine, the dash. It can get overwhelming as you put together a list of everything you need
Panel swapping isn’t hard 💀
It's trickier if you don't have the panels, oem wheel well parts, genuine quarter panels, the tools or the time.
GTR tax any other collision shop would charge 500 per side
Rather just get a gtr or 911 at that point
Huracan for me with that kind of money. There’s some sub 200k huracans out there now
u can literally buy a gtr bro😭
Working on the 140k I need as we speak
Couldn’t you have found a gtr for that price?
Not for 50k not even close
@@TheRacingJoker he was at about 100k when all said and done
@@Indy3pct.ra GTR these days is going to be around 140k if you want something in good condition
Idk TJ Hunt did it
Did he? I’m currently binging his M4 series
😢Don't let this distract you from the fact that in 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The A-Team😊
😂😂😂
Honestly this is great because it starts in a very similar way to the hector copy pasta
Made it way more expensive than necessary
The proper way is expensive, it’s the only way to gauge if it’s truly ‘worth’ it
@@TheRacingJokercuz “proper” needs a 27 thousand dollar motor then 50k for a base with good paint to cut up makes total sense, start with a roller buy stagea all wheel system, fbo the rb25 with a new turbo, rb26 head cover, new harnesses. Wow way cheaper fake gtr
Yea it makes perfect sense to start with a clean chassis lmao. Saves thousands in prep and restoration work. These are 90’s jap tin cans after all they do rust lmao
@@moonfake8524never said that wasn’t an option. This is an exercise in building a car to GTR spec using GTR parts. To see if buying a real GTR is worth it or not. If building a proper conversion where the only difference is the VIN is cheaper… then GTRs are overpriced
@@TheRacingJoker so a GTR comes with a 27,000 dollar motor from HKS? and u didn’t spec out the price of the difference in the GTR interior
Over fenders is clown behaviour 😂😂😂
For the oem look I deffo prefer steel. If it’s something like a moulded widebody that’s fine by me
Don't forget to put the HICAS!
I'm not a super big fan of rear steering ngl
Get a 32 instead.
That’s a little cheaper lol. Closer to 60k
@@TheRacingJoker The 34 with that conversion is well over 60k and still isn't a GTR so...
There is no way to convert a gtt to a Gtr. They are two separate cars despite sharing the same skyline name.
You can put all the GTR parts on a skyline GTR and it’ll still be a gtt.
Absolutely, this is more an experiment to help people decide if shelling the cash to get a true GTR (140k+) is worth it or not by finding some tangible value. You can absolutely make a GTT drive like a GTR by converting all the correct components, but do you save any money? Is getting a full GTR a better option? It’s an irritating question to ask when an R34 GTR used to be a great car for not a lot of money, now it’s just a car for a lot of money.
@@TheRacingJoker thanks for not upbadging! Obviously I’m biased but I think it’s worth the price.
The history, the pedigree, it’s a blast to drive on circuits and it’s a blast to drive on mountain roads. Are there better cars? Of course. Sadly this is the only “dream car” I can get my hands on since I don’t have f40 or f1 money haha
