@@Rob.DB. Also with in the part of Germany ocupied by Western allies many nazi officials were able to keep thair positions.
For example a left wing politician was sentenced to a prison sentence by the same judge who sent him to a concentration camp during the war.

@@Rob.DB. "The de-nazification" was ended abrubtly in late 40's when it was clear that the Western Germany joins the anti-comitern block. A lot of ex SS officers found work when a new secret services were made in the western germany and investigations about them were dropped. I think the German economic "miracle" wasn't really a miracle but that a lot of german companies who got rich of the war affair kept their funds abroad. You know what kind of things and tricks rich businessmen do with the laws and international scheming, they literally bordered neutral Switzerland from where it was easy to send gold further. In 1943 and 4 a lot of people saw that the war was going to be lost and didn't just wait for the soviets to come and steal everything. Germans absorbed a lot of wealth from the whole Europe and it helped them recover.

The extent is a bit exaggerated, both in West and East Germany membership in the Nazi party came with penalties. In East Germany that included internment in concentration camps (ironically the same ones used by the Nazis) as well as forced labor. In West Germany depending on your involvement it could involve prison sentences, fines, and forfeiture of civil rights.
There were some officials who’s histories were concurrently overlooked though because the allies needed someone with there skill set, if I may ask, what particular instance were you referring to?

The Allies and the Soviets agreed on who would take Berlin while at the same time drawing the occupation zones at the Yalta conference while the rest of the country was pushed to surrender. Churchill wanted occupation to be 1:1 with what was held just to keep Germany divided by USA, UK, France and USSR like a nuclear sub. American troops reached the outskirts of Berlin and watched the river to catch fleeing Germans. This is why it’d be impossible for any high ranking Nazis to escape to Argentina because there wasn’t anywhere to take off or sail from while they were all forced into Berlin which ended up 90% on fire and flooding with Soviets so you can guess what happened to them. There’s a reason those escapees all wanted to go west.
