I love how they were initially like "Hey let's play translator for DK's rules! That'll be fun!" and realized in a matter of minutes that it would take an hour
True, though that is a fairly recent change, one that complements some approaches to designing t’au as an army. Personally I think that it works for how sidelined they’ve been mechanically in most editions but reworking them back to separate models would suit any version with an option to make them the core of the force but I’m even less of a tabletop game designer than these fine morons so pinch of salt.
Episode idea for the next Poorhammer Collab: Make rules (and lore if they feel so inclined) for 40k the versions of Warhammer Fantasy. Essentially, if the Skaven were in 40k, what would their army be like? I came up with this with factions that would be fun already in mind like Chaos Dwarves, Vampire Counts and Skaven. Also it gets DK more involved by being a Fantasy episode since Realm of Rodiculous episodes have been great. Happy Holidays to all you nerds out there
As an admech player I was howling with laughter pretty much the entire time. I do feel like no one understands how insane it would be to even just give electropriests battle line because it means they trigger Doctrinas themselves and give battle line buffs to units that matter. You could literally drop the entire static token mechanic and it might still be better than datapsalm.
I LOVE the Drone Detachment idea. If I were to balance the Shield Drones though, I'd say that so long as the unit still has the bonus Wound, then the unit gains the benefit of Cover no matter if they're in the open, but they are not concealed. And maybe also include the Drone Defenders of the Tidewall Droneport in that firing upgrade. It would actually make that damn thing relevant again.

For ad-mec static tokens to make them more interesting: when targeting a unit with a strat. You can remove the token to decrease the cp cost to zero. Also, during the shooting or fighting phase: remove the static token to give all wepons d3 damage until the end of the phase
While not a terrible idea, a reminder that the ghostkeel stealth drones do exactly what the "improved shield drone" does. So either they would need a boost, or I would propose giving the shield drone a semi reliable feel no pain to the bearer like it used to for itself in 9th
Static token should apply after rolling wounds, gain a static token for every hit that failed to wound. And each time you remove a model you can remove a static token 1:03:45
In the intro im heavily in the 'old, zany, wacky, camp' the argument that 10th is too homoginized, simple and chess like explained the two camps perfectly. The suggestions were excellent and entertaining!
This inspired me to homebrew my own set of Sororitas detachments. So far I only have four(tanks/vehicles, endurance, prayers, and Bolter enhancement), but I think I could fit in a full six with some thought.
For Brad's detachment, the shield drone start is absolutely busted - my immediate thought of an alternative that may be more balanced is possibly for 1cp, a unit that would remove a shield drone due to 0ing a hit just gets to keep that shield drone (far from perfect, but thought I'd share what came to mind!)
As a Tau player, I could use this detachment more than the actual grotmas one (since I don't have any kroot or vespid models) but also I try to forget the drones exist and would like to keep it that way. I don't put their models on the table and for the most part that hasn't caused any issues but if they start being effective then I'm gonna start feeling bad that my opponent can't see them. I'd definitely take a long-range vehicle detachment though.
I was hoping the sniper team experimental ammunition would of just made them into their old sniper rail rifle stats of Strength 10, range 72”, and max AP
I personally kinda just want there to be two rulesets: Fluffy Competetive The Fluffy mode is for the oldheads who want blast radius and warp storm effects and maybe even facing. While competitive is the boiled down "WE HATE RANDOM GARBAGE!!!" sport freaks.
Man the big thing I miss from Advanced Targeting Systems on 9th T'au was the AP being applied to their basic melee profile. AP-1 crisis suit fists hit decently hard into infantry tbh
Im not gonna lie, I think they did DK dirty, all of the stuff I read made perfect sense. New slaanesh detactment has moving wounds to another unit, everything he put made perfect sense if you just translate it. DK, YOU DID WAY BETTER THEN THEY MADE OUT! good job man, shame you gave up near the end....
I think the shield drone function is too thematic to drop, if it needs a nerf I'd suggest changing its activation to "when this unit is targeted, select 1 or more weapons they are being targeted by". I'd need to figure out a neater way to phrase this but something like: when activated, remove 1 drone for each attack that hits, when you do so, reduce the damage characteristic of the attack by 1, additionally, remove 1 drone for each attack that misses by 1. It's still the same hit negation effect, but it's closer to the proactive side of the proactive-reactive spectrum. Also it's easier to get through with brute force shooting. You're gambling on potential value when you use it rather than getting guaranteed maximum value. So you could get targeted, use this, have every attack made against the unit miss by 1 and still lose all of your drones. You could choose to intercept both the medium-damage attacks and high-damage attacks from one unit. Your opponent could decide to make the medium-damage attacks first, shoot off all your drones then make the high-damage attack without any drones to worry about. Thematically, shield drones will intercept near misses as well as would-be hits because they all look the same in the chaos of battle. You can pick out weapons though, so if for example the unit is being shot by a Baneblade you could choose to only attempt to intercept the main gun (or just the main gun and the hull gun). I'd nerf static tokens by having them place a maker with a 1-inch aura (or even a half-inch aura, I don't know how small you can get but it should be tiny) rather than being stuck to the unit. The opponent can move out of the area and you might have to move into them, but the battlefield is inevitably going to get choked up with a bunch of debuff AoEs. The reason for this is solely because they're called static tokens so they should be static. If they're going to move with the affected unit they should be called mobile tokens. For the Orks, I'd change it to be: If you pick Gork, roll a d2, on a 1 you are Brutal - get the current Gork effect, on a 2 but you are also Kunnin' - get the current Mork effect. If you pick Mork, roll a d2, on a 1 you are Kunnin' - get the current Mork effect, on a 2 but you are also Brutal - get the current Gork effect. I feel like a decision between Gork and Mork should always be completely arbitrary. This is obviously a nerf as you aren't able to choose the effects, so I'd buff the effects to compensate and make sure they'd stack with themselves because Ghazgkull could end up double-Brutal or double-Kunnin'.
I want to do something similar for Alpha legion. Been toying with a way to make an idea I had balanced. A detachment that can take any unit of space marines from both the CSM and Space Marine base codexes but with a restriction of min squad sizes and no vehicles or something
Custodes detachment you missed the intention of second portion. Should read " If Ven are in engagement range of an enemy and one or more other custodian units, whenever the other custodian units attack, on a 5+ the Ven models can make a single attack as well as a bonus attack".
