"I'll, uh... Have a fleet-based Chapter with an unknown Primarch." How original... "With, uh, a redacted history being the cause of having no homeworld, and they use unconventional tactics and keep secrets." Daring today, aren't we?
Charlie's a youtuber who does all sorts of collabs with all sorts of channels, going as far as to play MTG in person on a bunch of different shows. I'd hardly use Charlie popping up on a discord call as something that makes Henry showing up any more likely than it already was..
A tidelocked planet would have a strip of land between the two sides that would be able to grow vegetation, so the planet would sort of have a green snake around it, they could use that as a reason to use snake motifs
and there's no reason the apex predators on the planet couldn't be a bunch of specially-adapted snake species. giant horned vipers and sidewinders in the desert, ice wyrms on the night side, even massive spitting cobras with some kind of weird "cloaking mechanism" in the habitable zone that can snipe you in the eyes from out of nowhere.
Character Idea: Your Chief Librarian is the only one who finds out(through Psyker shenanigans) that they are actually Alpha Legion Gene-seed and is depressed about it. HOWEVER, because he knows, he ends up being the best leader for them because he knows what they are actually good at but he'll never tell anyone, especially the Chapter Master
This is brilliant. It is likely that, as someone that knows about the gene-seed, he would utilise tactics/behaviour that useally goes against the chapters usuall operations, which combined with him being a librarian (psyker) in a highly religious chapter (with imperial religion often not liking psykers) leads to him becoming a highly controversial figure in a highly traditional chapter. He could be known as cadaverosa lautus (Latin for carrion cleaner, a barbed nickname spoken by those who disapprove of him) as he plans often to have squids (particularly his own) to thourally clear out areas just bombarded use close quarters. This has him cleaning up pockets of resistance and/or dealing unexpected issues (hence the name) so that the greater methodical plan can stay intact. He could also make a good Emery for the Chapter because of his telepathic abilities making him good at negotiations/communication. This leads to his constant attempts at damage control, as the isolation behaviour of the chapter results makes them difficult to work with for their allies that don't share their religiosity (eg. other Blood Angles successers or Guard/PDF regiments) .
Every time the librarian speaks with the chapter master and his battle brothers he keeps on slipping a little, “we are legion,” or, “I am Alpharius,” on accident and now they’re getting oddly suspicious 🤨
I imagine they came about from Alpha Legion sabtoeurs who managed to found a loyalist legion based on Blood Angels, but only let the high ranking members know they were really alpharius's sons, and anybody who found out would be killed and their surrounding squadmates as well, then blamed on Black Rage, then one bloody battle everyone in the know dies and so lower ranking members who had no idea they really were took over and have been directing the legion as fully loyalist Blood Angels successors ever since.
This is like an inverse of a canon successor chapter. They were called the Swords of Haldroth, and were an Ultramarine successor who had this wierd problem: their marines kept going crazy and hallucinating some bald guy while killing everything in a mindless rage. They were incredibly confused about what was wrong with them. After several centuries if thia tge Blood Angels were like "um, I think you guys are actually successors of ours" and suddenly everything made way more sense. So they renamed themselves to the Carmine Blades
This story makes only sense when you know that the Blood Angels go _considerable_ lengths to keep others from learning of their blood curse, nevermind that most imperial citizens have close to zero factual knowledge of the events of the Horus Heresy. Still, at least some Ultramarine chapter master could have known that and recognized that one of his successor chapters was behaving oddly familiar.
If you want a black white primary secondary split. They could be black armor, with white gauntlets up to the elbows, and white boots up to the knees. The white on their arms references the piety of their preservation and prayer. The white boots referencing to the long holy pilgrimages they take. Also snake motif if you wanted could be justified by being some giant snake in the desert.
I like the idea of a Primaris chapter that works closely with the Astra Militarum. They draw their recruits from the children of Guardsmen that impress the chapter. *"Well done trooper, your marksmanship is to be applauded, as reward for you fine soldiering, we shall be taking your only child to be turned into a Astartes."*
PREMISE: Space marines whose primary job was to guard prisoners too dangerous for the Arbites to transport like chaos sorcerers or traitor nobles. Their prison fleet does a time whoopsie in the Warp and they show up to space prison a couple centuries after being written up as lost, so they need to start over from the beginning. They focus on capture and suppression tactics, and to make up for their lack of current gear and numbers, they field penal battalions of helpless human prisoners who they flog into battle in advance of their main forces. But because they vaguely believe in criminal justice, they also recruit mostly from prisons and penal worlds, and their serfs are all either recruited from human law enforcement or reformed hive gangers, meaning their battle barge crews are all abnormally dangerous.
Yo this is sick, would love to see a bounty hunter type space marine like this developed more. I'm almost inclined to say loyalist night lords but what were you thinking?
Here's an idea for a character, the character was fighting khorne daemons and they got roused into a rage similar to the red thirst or black rage. The character prayed away the khorne corruption, and that's why the chapter thinks they can pray the black rage/red thirst away.
I think opportunity missed for their colour scheme being a (alpha legion) blue to (blood angel) red colour grade but you could pass it off as, it's the hot and cold side of our homeworld
Can't believe I've been watching this for 4 years. Twice as long as my daughter has been alive, thanks for the hours of entertainment and making me feel old
An Alpha Legion successor, who think they're Blood Angels successors, with the same levels of reverence and religious iconography as the Black Templars, who fight with a combination of Imperial Fists and Raven Guard tactics, and wear robes like the Dark Angels. Fucking brilliant.
Something I've always liked about Deathwatch is the nonuniformity they have going on with the right arms being the color of their chapters. Both for the looks and for breaking up some of the painting monotony. So my special snowflake idea is to take a page from the Salamanders and have the marines retain a connection to their homes and have part of their armor be colored for and bearing their home town/city's crest.
My friends made a few good ones. The Forgotten Sons-Luna Wolves Breacher crew lost in the warp, they scraped their armor clean and never remove their helmets because they all look just like Horus. They panicked when pressed by an Inquisitor and said Blood Angel descent. Truly Loyal, but secretive and insular. The joke comes in that the Inquisitor fully believes them, and considers them his good friends so he keeps calling on them. They panic every time they see him.
I'd imagine that they get incredibly overwhelmed when things don't go according to plan, or when the odds are not in their favor. Marines that get caught out in melee often get so overwhelmed that they break down believing that they have succumbed to the black rage, and it just so happens that marines who are able to escape these situations manage to fight it off, while those who die in combat succumb
Holy shit guys what an incredible episode. That was the most fun I've had watching an episode of adric in a long time. I like the episodes with kirioth more in general. Just Because it's nice having another person there to talk with and bounce off of as a whole. It's why I wish that he'd come in to the episodes even when he's not presenting the topic. It'd also keep things consistent where everyone would know and remember what was said from episode to episode. That's just my suggestion
A few things to consider! Tidally locked worlds have massive storms basically all the time, due to the massive temperature differential. It's also worth considering whether the planet has moons, how geologically active it is, and how much water it has. More water means more storms, more geological activity means less, as mountain ranges reduce wind velocity. Moons will have an impact on geology, but also on light on the dark side of the planet. If the dark side of the planet doesn't get any reflected light, snakes on that side would probably not develop camo, and most creatures wouldn't have functioning eyes, since they wouldn't be of much use. As a minor flavor addendum, I think it would be interesting to have a few canon cases of black rage in the chapter, but it's actually just paranoia induced psychosis 😂
As I'm listening to the color scheme, I like the idea of the purity parchment robes, but the armor should be black and red to symbolize the Red Thirst and the Black Rage. That way, the parchments are PHYSICALLY containing those two aspects by physical representation.

I unironically want this to be a thing in 3d printed minis (at least for the named characters/ some add ons for normal infantry). Or i honestly think itd be funny if the group just gets mentioned in passing in the books
My youtube recap got out and guess who's no. 1 podcast by a nautical mile? Yep. Adric's been my meat and bones for the past few years when it comes to this stuff and all i can say looking forwards is "bring it on!". Thank you guys very much for being just around the corner during the highs and lows of my life, making things a tad better always. I'm really hyped for what comes next!
Not gonna lie. I desperately want a poster with these boys on it. I want to see miniatures. This is so good you could easily make these boys a canonical successor chapter.
Some fun things I think would work well: the population of the planet live underground and the above ground temples where the high priests live is literally “the realm of angels” since only the space marines can move around unhindered. And the second bit is they tried to do the inner circle thing that the dark angels did about their origins but the warp storm killed everyone who knew the truth.
For anyone wanting a super easy quick way to make the parchment scripture wraps around arms + legs + guns etc, just wrap around some 1mm masking tape and brush on super glue over it, its what i do for my homebrew cos they tie their swords to their hands using cloth scriptures instead of chains, it's from an old method using like "regular" size masking tape to make like banners, cloaks and tabards etc.
I am so happy for this channel and just wanted to say thank you. The videos ya'll make have not only gotten me into the hobby but got me through some tough times as well, and have inspired me so much that I am even working on my own guard book now. Cheers to all of you who make this happen, you are the best! I also hope that this chapter ya'll have created is made cannon.
I like to think that the origins of this chapter is that an Alpha Legion ship was damaged during The Scouring in 30k and forced to put down on this planet, and in order to survive, they killed off the local Blood Angel garrison and took their place. They've played the role for so long they forgot their origins.
"I'm gonna black rage so hard, you gonna wish I didn't black rage so hard" - That Alpha Legion who thought he was a Blood Angel ...outside of Warhammer, that sounds much worse than intended.
Makes a zealous chapter of space marines Makes a shrine world Doesn’t have dedicated chaplain Chaplin: Am I a joke to you? Ps: thank you of many great years of videos
Amazing 4th anniversary episode, guys! You made some cool stuff this episode, it was so fun to see you guys being so creative! The live chat was cooking for this one too, most fun I've had for a premier in ages. Can't wait to see what the community does with this new chapter! I *hope* they don't start getting "Black Rage" incidents after a strange broadcast is sent from an Alpha Legion ship near their homeworld, activating a hidden flaw planted in their geneseed! And it would be *such* a shame if some of the newer recruits happened to know some code words to trigger the "Rage" in key individuals throughout the chapter...
Congrats on 4 years and honestly the chapter sounds awesome and hilariously 40K on brand. Here’s to another 4 and best wishes to yall into the near year!
Shoulda made them Sons of Horus geneseed. They could still have visions of Horus v Sanguinius and it would make sense despite them thinking they are blood angels. Horus was the first to know of the Blood Angels red thirst and kept it a secret even throughout the heresy.
There's a delicious irony in them believing more and more in their strict religiosity because it seems to work: none of them fall victim to the curse, so their belief in their practices is consistently reinforced.
My personal chapter is Ultima Founding, Imperial Brotherhood. A fleet based chapter with Emperor's Children gene seed on paper it's imperial fist or Ultra Marines idk yet. They always travel in full chapter strength and recruit from the surviving guardsman from the battles they engage in. By the book, Codex compliant 1000 marines. However as there is no limit on neophytes, they are at legion strength. They're big on reclaiming and renovating spacehulks to add to their fleet. They work exceptionally well with the guard and pdf forces. Follow the imperial cult. Their colors are od green with black on the shoulders and shins with the imperial Aquila as a pheonix on their shoulder. Anyone can join the brotherhood, that orphan over here, that guardsman over there. When they lose a marine the neophyte with the most seniority is given the black carapace and becomes a marine. They are on eternal crusade to push back the threats to humanity. Their battle cry is "For humanity and the Emperor!"
Oh man, this is perfect. From time to time their Alpha Legion programming kicks in and they assassinate a specific target or groups, but any time this happens, they forget everything that happened and then go "ah, shit, must have been the black rage!"
Say, fan submissions of homebrew space marine chapters could be a neat idea. And to make things interesting (and also to make sure the Ad Ric cast aren’t absolutely bulldozed like with the homebrew knight episode) you guys could set STRICT requirements to whoever joins the contest. For example. 1) The chapter has to be capable of losing battles 2) The chapter has to have clear strengths and weaknesses that prevent them from being gary-stews 3) Their lore has to be creative, fully fleshed out, and not left in any kind of obscurity or mystery. At least for the reader. The chapter not knowing all of their own lore is good, but the reader has to know. 4) Present at least 3 named Characters in your chapter, and include details like rank, age, armor, weapons, and backstory This way, you guys can sift out the canon-worthy from the lackluster
Dreadnoughts in the chapter are chosen by their piety and stoicism. Instead of harvesting Marines, who die in the thick of melee, they preserve the oldest in the chapter, who have proven their ability to “fight the black rage”. Just an idea while I listen to the tactics portion.
Congrats to 4 years! After Darktide released, Bricky was my intro to Warhammer lore and this podcast helped expand the rest! I got to learn with DK, also learn to fear Shy, and I've enjoyed every episode! Love you guys!
I am making a homebrew chaos warband that is a fallen Blood Angel successor chapter so I’ve been down this rabbit hole for a bit to make up the chapter before the fall. They fell to chaos to survive when Cadia fell and the great rift swallowed up their homeworld. Their chapter master died during the transitory period and when they first reappeared they were led by a sorcerer that is actually their former chief librarian. They have a large issue because of how being servants of chaos undivided has influenced their gene-flaws. Their death company are now all Khorne berserkers, and the entire warband is working double time compared to the blood angels to keep their heads because Khorne’s basically turned the black rage and red thirst into a backdoor to their souls and is constantly pulling on them to give in and join his fold. Also as a fan of the Alpha Legion, I love this chapter you’ve made!
Happy anniversary! Here’s to many more ❤️ Also, this was so much fun. It’d be so cool to see this for other factions too, like you guys suggested Chaos Warbands etc, but also it’d be great fun to see things like Ork Klanz, Guard Regiments and Knight Households.
I can't help thinking that people would mistake them for a mix between 30k Dark Angels and Black Templars, both in looks and behaviour. It all fits except the long-range preference.
Can’t believe it’s been 4 years I’ve been here from the start and so happy to see how far you guys have come and unbelievable impressed by how shy hasnt murbered yall yet shy pls have mercy…….they’re just lil guys 😂
Australian here, can confirm I have spent the same amount of money on warhammer than it would cost to buy a new car... May God help me and other AU based Heresy players
I'm never going to play Warhammer. I'll paint and make customizations to the figures for rpg campaigns like DnD or Wrath and Glory, but I'm not ever going to be dedicated enough to do anything else related to the actual Warhammer 40k game. I would buy the shit out of anything relating to the chapter you three out together today. Codex, figures, novels, whatever. This all sounds like the greatest Warhammer coded faction I have encountered so far.
Oh my, its been four years already? I think I discovered you while searching for death guard lore and found your second video. Cant believe that was four years ago. Always a highpoint in the week to get an hour of lore to listen to. Congratulations, keep it up, love all you guys!
Yall have kept me entertained while working so much (and a few times made me look insane as i chuckle to myself in silence since no one sees my headphones) cant wait to see what the next few years hold
You could make them all wear masks with the face of their current chapter master (like Dante's death mask), especially when dealing with outsiders, other chapters etc
Congrats on the aniversary! Here are my 2 cents for the logarithm.... World: Flegathon Gloriana. A hollow world where there are dunes on its surface, and glaciers in the middle layer. The ritual for the Astartes is to reach the temple near the center of the planet) Chapter name: The Nethelim. Heraldry: An eclipsed sun. (Alternatively, crosshairs on an eclipsed sun) Colors: Red and teal. Flagship: Righteous Serenity Official gene seed: Blood angels. Named characters: Captain Vie (Librarian) (Also French for life) And Lieutenant Todd (Sniper) (German for death) Chapter master: Death Company Dreadnaught Methuselah, the eternal
I like the concept of the pilgrimage to different fortresses and temples for aspirants. Since the planet is tidally locked there's a "ring" of habitable land around the planet, so they have to literally walk a whole lap around the planet to prove themselves worthy. Also I think it would be cool if they do not use death company detachments. They are soo afraid of the black rage that they refuse to function with anyone afflicted and immediately kill anyone who shows signs of it.
Little do they know, the alpha legion only ever approach them trying to reincorporate them into the alpha legion, but They're so lost in the blood angels sauce that it's kill on sight 😂
Four years ago, the Death Korps of Krieg episode showed up in my recommended videos while I was doing a delivery route for Amazon. Haven't looked back since. Genuine thank you for getting me hooked, and happy anniversary🎉🎉🎉
I've been wanting to get back into writing Short Story Fanfics for a while now and honestly, writing a story of an Acolyte Sniper going through the steps of their ritualistic sniping is filling me with inspiration.
During the Horas Heresy a contingent of Alpha Legion were sent to infiltrate the Blood Angels. After successful entering their ranks they waited decades for orders to attack from within. These orders never came. Eventually the Heresy ended and the Alpha Legion members within the Blood Angels were seperated amongst all the chapters. Their original leader Jeriko faked his own death and began to collect his brothers. Over the centuries of collecting his brothers and successfully faking their deaths he developed a hatred for the Legion who abandoned him and swore allegiance to the Imperium. He knew many of his brothers would not agree with his change of side so he instead took to fhanging their memories, making them believe they had always been Blood Angels. After a little more forgery and fuckery a new chapter was 'founded'. Jeriko collected the last of his original brothers and altered their minds. All but one brother who was entombed in a Drednought. His mind proved resilient to any tampering. Now Jerkio spends his days keeping the watchful eye of the Imperium from gazing to long at his chapter, while also coming up with any excuse not to wake their entombed brother for fear that he would spill their darkest secret.

Angels of equinox would be a great name. just saying...
Congratulations! Here's to many more years of DK's growth until he becomes the ultimate Warhammer trivia master.
That would be amazing
They grow up so fast
But the prophecy says if he beats Eric in a quiz it'll be the end of the world.
Your optimism is touching, but I feel like given DK's record, it might be unfounded.
"I'll, uh... Have a fleet-based Chapter with an unknown Primarch."
How original...
"With, uh, a redacted history being the cause of having no homeworld, and they use unconventional tactics and keep secrets."
Daring today, aren't we?
Can't wait for Henry Cavill to be interviewed for the show, which now a thing that will totally happen
Honestly I can see it happening.
They can get Josh Strife Hayes first, he's the discount Henry Cavil.
I mean they got Charlie on there, it's not as insane a prospect as it sounds tbh
Charlie's a youtuber who does all sorts of collabs with all sorts of channels, going as far as to play MTG in person on a bunch of different shows. I'd hardly use Charlie popping up on a discord call as something that makes Henry showing up any more likely than it already was..
Honestly i could maybe see it when the amazon series is about to release, as something akin to a press/promotion tour, would be pretty neat i think
A tidelocked planet would have a strip of land between the two sides that would be able to grow vegetation, so the planet would sort of have a green snake around it, they could use that as a reason to use snake motifs

Kirioth has really been the cool uncle of this podcast this year.
His reactions to the cursed poster reveals are always a treat

I thought the same thing
“Our duty to the Emperor keeps the Angel’s Curse at bay. We are all devoted to our daily prayers, and none have ever faltered.”
This is like an inverse of a canon successor chapter. I like the idea that the chant during the initiation is “One must burn away the sin and freeze the rage to become a true warrior of peace”
So I guess their Motto is "I find your lack of faith disturbing."
And their battlecry is: "HOW ABOUT YOU LOCK IN, MF?!"
It's crazy that I started listening in my senior year of highschool and I'm about to get my degree, thank you gentlemen for the awesome content
Congratulations guys, going four years and going strong. Can't wait to hear about more 40k and Warhammer fantasy.
Astorath the Grim arrives at this chapter's fortress monastery and goes "Wait, you guys aren't falling to the Black Rage, you're just jerks!"

Thank you for being careful to not use an exclamation point it almost got too wrathful
Can't believe I've been watching this for 4 years. Twice as long as my daughter has been alive, thanks for the hours of entertainment and making me feel old
Congratulations Guys! Still waiting for the continuation of the All Guardsmen Party reading though, that was so fun!
Still waiting for the ending chapters of AGP. Im gonna die before that gets finished.

Big up for 4 years of ad rec. Best sleep aid I've come across 😂
Ok so it’s not just me turning this on at night 😂
As an Astrophysics major, the quote, "Let's make it tidally locked!" Makes me ridiculously happy!
This podcast started when I started uni, and it's kept me company the whole way
I can't believe adeptus ridiculous made a catholic guilt chapter
Tbf that's a few chapters but with the monastery world it really does hit as that lol
I like the idea of one marine falling to the "black rage" but just screaming out "DORN"

I feel so old with this 4 year mark. Seems like yesterday I found this channel and started my addiction to plastic crack.
I have the idea that they've been undercover as Blood Angels for so long that they completely forgot they were SUPPOSED to be loyal to Chaos!
Congratulations. Dope idea for an episode to Kirioth.
"I'm gonna black rage so hard, you gonna wish I didn't black rage so hard"
- That Alpha Legion who thought he was a Blood Angel
...outside of Warhammer, that sounds much worse than intended.
Makes a zealous chapter of space marines
Makes a shrine world
Doesn’t have dedicated chaplain
Chaplin: Am I a joke to you?
Ps: thank you of many great years of videos
As a BA player/collector, I love it! Must testbuild one asap!
I was half expecting the Janus Knights, since they'd be naturally two-faced
Congrats on 4 years and honestly the chapter sounds awesome and hilariously 40K on brand. Here’s to another 4 and best wishes to yall into the near year!
Shoulda made them Sons of Horus geneseed. They could still have visions of Horus v Sanguinius and it would make sense despite them thinking they are blood angels.
Horus was the first to know of the Blood Angels red thirst and kept it a secret even throughout the heresy.
These guys need a Ghillie suit made of purity seals. It’s too perfect.
Feels like you could make most of the minis from Inner Circle Companions and Eliminators
DKs brain has to fried by now. All that info makes me overwhelmed at times. I feel ya bra I feel ya.
Diese Komentarsektion ist nun Eigentum der Bundes Republik Deutschland, Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum vierten Geburtstag!!
Oh man, this is perfect. From time to time their Alpha Legion programming kicks in and they assassinate a specific target or groups, but any time this happens, they forget everything that happened and then go "ah, shit, must have been the black rage!"
This was a wonderful idea to make this collaborative creation.
Happy anniversary! Loved this Chapter-building workshop.
An Alpha Legion chapter on a snake-infested planet. It couldn't possibly be the one where they made it rain snakes before...
"I want to avoid going down the no my chapter is the coolest syndrome" instantly jumps the shark lol
Holy Terra, four years already? Been listening since day one and I have to say congratulations gents and lass.
Hypochondriac Space Marines sounds like a heretical Sitcom pitch the showrunners got put into penitent engines for.
Any squad that goes no contact and is found died is assumed black rage
Congratulations on 4 years! I’ve been watching for most of it, and it’s been cool to see the podcast shift and improve over time.
Here’s to many more!
I love the concept of these Alpha legionnaires gaslighting themselves into having the Black Rage
1) The chapter has to be capable of losing battles
2) The chapter has to have clear strengths and weaknesses that prevent them from being gary-stews
3) Their lore has to be creative, fully fleshed out, and not left in any kind of obscurity or mystery. At least for the reader. The chapter not knowing all of their own lore is good, but the reader has to know.
4) Present at least 3 named Characters in your chapter, and include details like rank, age, armor, weapons, and backstory
This way, you guys can sift out the canon-worthy from the lackluster
Have the chapter master use Dual Pistols.... Like the movie equilibrium. Gun fu baby
YES THIS IS PERFECT
Let's goooo
Dreadnoughts in the chapter are chosen by their piety and stoicism. Instead of harvesting Marines, who die in the thick of melee, they preserve the oldest in the chapter, who have proven their ability to “fight the black rage”. Just an idea while I listen to the tactics portion.
This is the kind of worldbuilding I love. I need to do this with my table group...
I GOT ONE! Chimeric Gene-seed between alpha legion, iron warriors and world eaters named spectral serpents.
Happy 4 years AdRic! Thank you for helping my entry into the 40k fandom/hobby that much better. Here's to the many more years to come ^^
You could make them all wear masks with the face of their current chapter master (like Dante's death mask), especially when dealing with outsiders, other chapters etc
So DK and Bricky made a Alpha legion Blood Angels succesor and created loyalist Word Bearers.
"Wearing Erebus's face"
Chapter battle cry is *"STRENGTH IN FOCUS"*
Very tempted to make these now as my space marine army XD
Congrats on the aniversary!
Here are my 2 cents for the logarithm....
World: Flegathon Gloriana. A hollow world where there are dunes on its surface, and glaciers in the middle layer. The ritual for the Astartes is to reach the temple near the center of the planet)
Chapter name: The Nethelim.
Heraldry: An eclipsed sun. (Alternatively, crosshairs on an eclipsed sun)
Colors: Red and teal.
Flagship: Righteous Serenity
Official gene seed: Blood angels.
Named characters: Captain Vie (Librarian) (Also French for life) And Lieutenant Todd (Sniper) (German for death)
Chapter master: Death Company Dreadnaught Methuselah, the eternal
I like the concept of the pilgrimage to different fortresses and temples for aspirants. Since the planet is tidally locked there's a "ring" of habitable land around the planet, so they have to literally walk a whole lap around the planet to prove themselves worthy.
Also I think it would be cool if they do not use death company detachments. They are soo afraid of the black rage that they refuse to function with anyone afflicted and immediately kill anyone who shows signs of it.
The thing is in 40k if they believe in it hard enough it happens. So they are doing it to them selfs
The chapter need a specialist squad of sniper marines/spotters scouts similar to the black templars crusaders squad.
