I was vegan for three years. Did my best to follow what's considered a healthy diet in WFPB. Results: IBS, acne, depression and suicidal tendencies. Late last summer made an omelette with bacon and cheese. Immediatley my intestines felt like they were filled with cotton, so smooth, I will never forget that feeling. Right there and then I said good bye to veganism. Forever.
Wow. I'm absolutely, 100% certain you did not follow a proper diet while eating plants. You should try watching The Game Changers or What The Health and further educate yourself. If you disagree and refuse then that's fine, but I have to at least try. There is nothing special in meat that differentiates itself from the nutrients in vegetables and fruit; you literally only additionally acquire loads of long-chain cholesterol, saturated fats, zero fiber, animal-based hormones/protein, and carcinogens from the meat. Everyone can acquire the same nutrients and FAR more without the negatives that meat carries, by eating fruits/veg. Common sense - the number one killer is heart disease, most people eat meat. It's the cholesterol and saturated fats in meat that will eventually kill most people, it's why you can look so healthy, workout every day and drop of a heart attack - clogged arteries; meat/dairy industries have been lying to people for decades, falsifying studies, spamming our TV's with propaganda. The superiority of plants is all very well established, conclusive and repeated science, over a thousand studies, meta-analysis; the industry does not care about your problems unless you vote with your wallet. Please do not believe doctors that shill out any meat-based diets, they either don't understand the clear science or they are paid for. I've been vegan and a bodybuilder for nearly 7 years and I've never been more healthy in my life. After eating meat for 25 years, my partner and I REVERSED her father's heart disease putting him on a vegan diet, also stopped his life long heart palpitations immediately within 2 days. We later reversed her mother's type 2 diabetes using the methodology Dr. Greger recommends in his book "How Not To Die". We are all living breathing examples of the healthiest lifestyle. It's extremely simple but people overcomplicate it by trying to go raw, fruitarian, or simply don't eat enough calories and variety like everyone should be doing, regardless of their diet. Please do more research, you are missing someting, it changed our lives. We've been in such great health for years that the people we know at work, best friends etc. family have all left meat behind with the same results. Cheers

I was convinced to the extent where I ignored serious issues related to my diet. Soy, legumes, beans, brown rice, too many fruits etc all give me IBS. With meat and saturated fats I don't even notice my intestines, they are so smooth. I feel full through out the whole day. My temeper is calm, no rage, no depression and no suicidal thoughts. I shouldn't say "never again" though, maybe some day I'll be able to incorporate more plants and fruits to a larger extent. But not today, nor in a forseable future.

I'm glad you haven't given up on it completely, there are ways to work with what you have, you are certainly not the only one I've known with similar problems their whole lives. There may be something specific, or a couple of food groups/items that are very high in fiber etc. causing your trouble, which is understandable regarding your specific issues as a person. It's very important for *other* people to understand though, that most people can be vegan or plant-based without concern, with plants being the healthiest way of eating for humans. Hopefully, in the future, you can figure it out and reincorporate with a different strategy in mind, and slowly as you said. Thanks for being open-minded. Best of luck! Cheers

We also cannot ignore the nutritional needs of the human physiology and therefore the deficit of those needs and subsequent health risks and issues on so called plant based diets. Im teasing, because surely we can all experiment to find optimal health for ourselves as individuals, including our ethical, religious, cultural, and moral arguments, without trying to influence others with our own agenda and dogma. Both the plant based communities and the animal based communities are guilty of this. Give us a break guys. Let us listen to the so called "experts" and make our own minds up..is that ok with you!?!? 😉

Eat everything in moderation, is lazy. Basically means that you dont really have to make any changes. If your health is good, continue doing what you're doing. If its poor, or requires improvement, then change is called for. We need to take more responsibility for our own health. Perhaps a plant based diet may work for you, perhaps it wont! Perhaps an animal based diet will work, or again perhaps not. Maybe a combination of these two would work. Who knows, but try, play around, get some bloodwork done. Your health is your greatest gift and to sit on the sidelines saying everything in moderation is shirking the responsibility. Should you eat poison or broken glass in moderation? Of course not; somethings are inherently bad for you. Find the other things that dont work for you. 😉
