For anyone watching this as a begginer: I’ve been playing guitar for 3 years now and barre chords still give me hard times, even tho I can play songs with them since long ago sometimes I just fuck them up or can’t play at all songs with fast changes or lots of them, so if you are having problems don’t worry it’s normal They are actually really tricky even if you already have the strength Edit: if you go to lessons or practice regularly songs that use them (I don’t) you can probably master them in a few months
Love your vids. Great job, and thank you. Particularly, that you don't do a bunch of unnecessary banter, history, opinion etc. I love to learn, not get know people I'll never meet.
Thank you so much!!!,, I am a beginner guitar player, love the way you teach and explain and make it easy to understand ,,,, thanks again for sharing your knowledge 🙂
Wow Thanks Jean Duval!! That means alot🙂 feel free to *share* the lessons around👍 Don't forget to ring the *Notification Bell* 🔔 if you haven't already!
its taking me too long to solve my muted 5th and 6th. i have to lay my whole finger, 1st digit peaking out of the low E, and just remember to mute it when i play on the A string barre. i know, i somehow complicated it ... i think this lessons gonna help a lot .
Thank for making every lesson is easy to understand. I am feeling blessed that I find you on my guitar journey. Keep it up man. Subscribed from now :D :D :D
I have very bony fingers and simply can't barre. My knuckles hit, but there's a gap between knuckles. I have to wrap tape in between my knuckles to have something there to press the strings.
Whatever the shape of you index finger, I promise that anyone can achieve a clear barre chord! I would recommend NOT wrapping tape around your finger and instead persevere until you find micro movements that help you achieve a good barre chord..theee is no substitute for practice! Barre chords can take months of hard repetitive practice to feel comfortable. Also be sure you are not extending the tip of your index finger to far beyond the edge of the fretboard!
This video taught me so much about thumb position! I’ve been playing barre chords with my thumb facing the neck, rather than it being straight as you suggested. Thank you!!!! Do you have any tips or exercises for my fingers to be able to bend more when I am doing a barre chord?
Thanks Gibson👍 I would advise as you have only just adjusted your thumb position that you give this time first to become a permanent habit. but a quick tip that will help is to try to position each finger slightly more on the tip than you are used to...this forces more of the bend you are looking for. keep at it👌
Tried twice to send you monetary thanks, but it locks up when I get to the "add" form of payment part!! Will try again in the near future. In the meantime, thanks for taking the sting out of barre chords with your simple, but logical presentation.
When you need to make any alterations to a barre chord which occurs frequently in most fingerstyle solo guitar pieces or even a basic move between major to dom7 you will absolutely need to press down all 6 strings evenly with a barre.

Did I miss the link to the every note in 5 video??
Here it is 👍 ua-cam.com/video/ppM7UaSJ_JQ/v-deo.html I have also added it again to the end screen of this video.
It really takes a lot of time to get the barre chord ring all the notes. That's where all those life long beginners accept their fate.
Thanks man! Onenof my issue was that my index finger was too far from the fret itself
Great!

Hi Rick! Thanks for trying! Really appreciate it👍
@@Samjamguitar Well, you deserve some compensation.
@@Samjamguitar 3rd try is the charmer. More to come, just waiting on some people to pay.
"your first finger needs to press down all 6 strings at once"
No. No it doesn't. It only needs top press down the unfretted strings
When you need to make any alterations to a barre chord which occurs frequently in most fingerstyle solo guitar pieces or even a basic move between major to dom7 you will absolutely need to press down all 6 strings evenly with a barre.
Correct. Only if you are using the barre as a makeshift capo do you need to press all 6.
