There is a mormon belief that men become gods in the afterlife, “rulers of their heavenly kingdoms” and all that.
Chuck’s behavior falls in line with that idea pretty well I think

That's very interesting, I didn't know that! I think so as well. Maybe not necessarily implying that all rulers would be like that, but when you could rule over your own heaven, you might 'get bored' and 'restart' it once in a while!

Almost there. God / Chuck was good parent helping out his creations. While making it appear like he didn't care. Example leviathan season had one episode with Roman god of time & I remember said God saying something like I have been to future & there's only black oozes. But season ends with leader of leviathan getting his head cut off. God / Chuck intervening & making it possible for dean & sam have chance of defeating leviathans. Think about Chuck killing jack if Chuck didn't kill jack, Jack wouldn't have had chance get his soul back & jack without soul was danger to whole world. God / Chuck allow all his creations freewill up to point said creation destroys the world. Hopefully you got point am trying make.

Also john winchester is God / God true personality not Chuck personality. Remember seeing episodes with sam & dean as children and one of them having that world greatest dad mug but it broke. If that didn't happen remember episode with Ramiel Prince of Hell & how he pulled out the same stop watch that Chuck usages see future & how mary winchester reacted once she saw it Mary calm down a bit went from scared of seeing Ramiel to more relaxed. Belief God killed Ramiel & was disguising himself like Ramiel. While testing dean & once dean made right choice he allowed himself be killed by dean. Saw this behavior with a lot of villains letting me belief God / Chuck / John winchester was taking out a couple of villains, then acting like them & letting dean & sam win after they had demonstrated they were doing it for right reasons.

Great Video! I really liked the last seasons story line with Chuck as the main villain. It's such a cool take on God as a character and makes the whole series so much more layered. One thing I disagree about though: I think the reason Jack had to die was that he was an actual threat to chucks power and because of his need for control and narcissistic trade of being above everyone else, Jack had to go. As a bored writer he introduced the equaliser gun into the story to get a poetic ending of father killing his son (as mentioned in Moriah).
Btw I think the gun not being used in his story and instead gets fired at him as the writer is a pretty fun way to resolve the chekhovs gun principle. I'm not sure if it was intended as such, but since you've talked about Chuck using storytelling principles, I thought I'd mention it

But at the end of the day, God was in character, I mean Supernatural ended after season 5 to me. I think God did send Kevin to heaven, season 11 was also another season that was supposed to cap the series. I don't think Chuck was intended to be the overall big bad.

    • @Tyler_W
      @Tyler_W 2 роки тому +5

I can accept seasons 5 and 11 as the end point. No shade to anyone who liked it, but I think making "God" the bad guy is really dumb. It got way too meta where the ultimate bad guy(s) was basically the writer's room writing the show. Also, with all of the other beings in the series, no matter the creative liberties they took, there was always some kind of internal logic at least loosely inspired by actual lore about supernatural beings. With God, particularly considering (I guess) he was supposed to be the Judeo-Christian God, the interpretation was frankly ridiculous and nonsensical. I could even roll with it if there was some sort of thematic point to why things were the way they were, like if they were saying something about people or religion or something about God himself, but at some point, it just devolved into "hey wouldn't it be crazy if xyz happened?" At least with the original run of 5 seasons, there was actually something they were subtextually saying about people/society/religion, faith, virtues and man's search for meaning and purpose in a Nietzchean postmodern world.

The only thing that I can summarize in the end is that Chuck is a literal hypocrite. We see constantly that Chuck writes a story, and what he writes is always supposed to come true. However, 2 different times we hear Chuck himself say that he made "free will." The first time he says it is to Donatello. He says, "I included free will in the kit." The second time he says it to Dean when they are trying to prepare to fight Amara. Dean asks Chuck to compel everyone to fight together. But Chuck says, "I invented free will for a reason."
He says they have free will. Yet this is a lie since he writes their lives according to his will. But even then we see that the characters do have free will and that is why Chuck gets angry in the end because they aren't doing what he wants. So he gives them free will then gets angry when they use it.
There was one other thing that bothered me. After Jack takes away his power, Chuck says, "For the first time, I have no idea what's going to happen next." If Chuck always knew what was going to happen before, then why didn't he see what was going to happen? If he has "power over space AND time," he should have known the future.

“And the first Apocalypse, the first go round; You Knew Everything That Would Happen. So why the Games Chuck? Huh?! *WHY DIDN’T YOU JUST SNAP YOUR FINGERS AND END IT?!”* -Dean Winchester.
    Ellen & Jo
    Pamela Barnes
*Karen Singer being temporarily resurrected just to make Bobby Kill Her Again* AND SO MANY MORE
None Of This Affects Chuck Because He Wrote It To Happen. It’s not that Chuck didn’t do anything to prevent these Atrocities from happening, HE MADE THEM OCCUR. He put those innocents in the danger that killed them, He Orchestrated The Lives Of Sam And Dean: *Every Horrible Thing.*
The writers made a late choice in the show to make Chuck evil, originally he was just God. But since 14x20 Chuck is The Ultimate Evil, completely different from The Will/Purpose Of God Existing. You could say in the show The Power Chuck wields just existing is the force Humans and other Entities call or acknowledge as “God.” When Jack absorbs it when he usurps Chuck’s title, power; everything expect for Chuck Himself.
In our Reality God has Angels to work his will, and is why we don’t see or acknowledge his presence and intervention in our world and daily lives.
*In The TV Show Chuck Had People Born Just To Die Done So To Hurt The Boys.*
That’s the difference between Our Lord in reality, and the monster that “chuck” is in supernatural’s reality.

I agreed with you, until the ending. If chuck was real, he would be a villain. The show, the fake world of Supernatural, it is just entertainment; TO US, THE REAL LIFE AUDIENCE. But for the characters of the show, chuck's behavior had real consequences, real pain, and real loss. He hurt all of his characters simply because he could. That's evil. Just because he can zap those problems away doesnt mean they are not real problems.
Dean is a war vet with severe PTSD, and little to no self-worth
Sam is recovering addict, who is rittled with guilt, over events he had no control over
Cas and the other angels, are just lost, powerful, ticking time bombs: that hurt and kill lesser beings at their whim.
The monsters of the show exist because chuck wanted them to, he coud have gotten rid of them.
Free will meant nothing, if chuck didnt like something that happened, he got rid of it.
Yes, I am a fan of chuck, he is a well written villian.
Other than that last point, everyhing else makes sense, great video.

When he said to his Angels or Archons, I am the one true God, there are no other Gods but me, his mother Sophia then came down from a realm above even heaven, and said " You are wrong, Samael which means God of the Blind in whatever languages the Gnostics speak " Samael in Hebrew means the Venom or poison of God. It does make so much sense when you look at everything that happens on the show and before the show. Automatically wanna say no he's not a bad guy he has done good and has helped no he hasn't helped all the time but I don't blame him cause thatd be boring him stepping in all the time fixing everything if anyone dies they're back if they even die at all. That's why he lies when he says he can't kill Jack or maybe not or even the darkness or anybody that'd be boring if he just snaps his fingers boom they ded. Though probably can't do that with darkness but there's be no villains in the show lol. Technically everything that has happened in the show has made dean and Sam and everyone who they are if no bad things happened they'd be so different not as entertaining of a show lol. Were the villains as much as god. This is like in cabin in the woods the viewers are evil we loved this show the villains everything lol. I kept waiting for UT to drop that chuck ain't really a bad guy he wrote himself into the show and this was his arc. Knew show was ending so like you said who'll be the best villain but god so he wrote all this. This is how he always wanted it to end lol. He's just still being a awesome actor acting like no they outsmarted me I got no power no come back!!!!! Once they leave he's like yay onto next part. Ironically like Chuck said once they get rid of Chuck dean and or Sam will die. What happens next episode lol yep they die lol. The end lol. Chuck been living as a human all this time and he still is and can be god whenever he wants to be or maybe I figured this or by the end he realizes his wrong and leaves dean and Sam to do what they want. They're free he's going to go off and make a new world or do something else and everyone is happy lol. But still awesome villain. Chuck did awesome job being a protagonist and antagonist and wrote one of if not the best shows ever. Awesome job Chuck lol.

No shade to anyone who likes it, but the show ends after season 11 for me. Season 5 feels perfectly well-rounded and complete, and it would've been a dang-near perfect show if it ended there. Seasons 6-7 were just okay imo with a handful of great episodes and ideas in there. The reason I'm Into making season 11 the finale in my own head canon is because seasons 8-11 were surprisingly really good and more or less back to form. While I like the idea of the multiverse, everything else from then on out just felt like it progressively detracted from just about everything that came before it. Making God a straight up villain makes absolutely no sense, either in the context of what "Chuck" is supposedly based on and in the context of the show itself. Idk, it should've ended in 2016 imo. At the end of the day, considering how each of the three eras of the show ended, it hurts basically nothing for anyone to decide for themselves where the show ends for them, because both the endings of seasons 5, 11 and 15 put a neat bow on what feels like a fully-rounded story up to that point without anything feeling incomplete.

Honestly, even though I don't 100% agree with you, I find your talk about Chuck fascinating. Respectfully, he is an antithesis role in my point of view but I am glad you talked about this, seeing your own point of view. I say antithesis because Chuck is what he is to me, an antithesis to everything I believe in, big rambling tangent but bare with me here. What I mean is that even though I am not a big writer like him but at least I actually do my best to genuinely care about the characters in my writing I do and unlike Chuck, if I had ruined lives of the characters I created, I should apologise and take responsibility for their lives. I hope you are doing well, Mr I think I can write and may your future be brighter than the sun.

Its funny when Sam asking if Chuck is watching them when he's not there. If you believe he's really god and since god sees and knows everything then obviously the answer is yes lol. I can see dean asking this but since Sam has a history of praying and being religious id think he would already know that answer without needing to ask it lol. Love this analysis. Been looking for one like this for a while. Always looking for analysis videos for god. They basically told you everything but at same time still leaving me with questions and wanting more. Wish we got more god especially about his history. Wish we got flashback to him watching the world through the decades on this earth and other earth's lol. Wish we got to see other worlds like the squirrel world lol and Chuck creating them and even moving on. Wanna see all that lol.

You can watch his reaction to Sams bewilderment and questions that he knows everything that's happening but playing dumb letting on as episode goes that he does know everything but still not wanting to tell Sam yet lol. He's playing with Sam amusing himself Building himself up lol. I always thought Chuck purposely wrote himself in the story as the villain knowing that he'll be the main villain in the final season. How can you get bigger than God the ultimate antagonist lol. Maybe the story went how he really wanted it to lol. Did jack really became god or did he just in the story Chuck wrote lol. Maybe Chuck is still god watching the show like us while the characters in the story in the show think hey we won jack is god now lol

Chuck is similar to that writer guy in Hollywood Babylon lol cept instead everything he writes is changed by his characters that guy had everything he wrote changed by the people above him who rewrote everything and Really ticked him off and finally turned him into a villain summoning ghosts to kill the crew of the movie and some cast especially the dude in charge that was really changing his vision. Lots of writers band directors feel like this frustrated with changes against their vision and almost feel powerless in a way cause its like what can they do? And that ticks them off too just like Chuck felt the characters not the people above him lol. Though it kind of is cause the writers of the show are above him writing everything that happens so he's like locked in and is pissed with his lack of freedom to do whatever he wants just like Sam and dean feel like they are lol.

You know what really would have been interesting? After the end of credits a bonus scene. A galactic starship or space center - then we are taken to the inside of the bustling hub of activity. We are moved to a double door whose lights above turn off like an unoccupied sign of an airplane restroom. Chuck dressed up in a futuristic starship uniform exits the room. "Computer: End Program " . An acknowledging beep is heard. He then turns and begins to depart, hesitates and then says, "Computer, save Chuck 3421 for now and encrypt. Delete all prior versions." Another beep in response. Chuck seems particularly satisfied as he leaves and the scene fades to black.

Think about it this way, If you write a story involving your favorite character, not a fanfic, but a legit original story, you will write it how you wish. It doesn't matter what you do in this story because writing it comes from you and your source of creativity. So knowing that, when you write your own story, you are telling it in a way that makes you happy and whole, and sometimes others might like it, other times they might not, but the whole point is that you wrote a story that you enjoyed and loved. So reading all of that, is chuck a villain? No. If you think that chuck is the villain of the story then you must also think J.K Rowling is the villain of the harry potter franchise, or H.P. Lovecraft with all of his Eldritch stories and such, hell even the DC and Marvel verses are included in this.

It's honestly not that much difference from the depiction of god's personality in the bible.
The actions in that book do show someone who is obsessed with controlling others, being praised and worshipped, and punishing people with torture and death for not following his often arbitrary, even, harmful, rules.
I really enjoyed the way this show slips the mask off those behaviors, revealing them as toxic, by embodying them and grounding them in the character of Chuck.

This is a good analysis video of the character of Chuck Shurley, but in all honesty, I think supernatural disrespected God, rather than reinvent God. God in actuality is, was, and should always be good. Supernatural's first mistake was making "God" as flawed as humans, but I was able to forgive this mistake because the series made Chuck likable. The second mistake of supernatural was making Dean and eventually Sam disrespectful to "God". It's mainly a sign of human arrogance to think that you know better than "God". The biggest mistake that supernatural made was making "God" the final villain of supernatural. The series had already run out of good ideas for villains after using Lucifer in season 5. Also creating a new villain with the darkness, and stating that it is the sister of "God", shows that supernatural could never make a more powerful villain. I will never forgive supernatural for making "God" not only the final villain, but the overarching villain of the entire series. God is the creator of life, the light, and the ultimate good, but supernatural made Him a flawed writer, the true villain, and the ultimate evil, which goes completely against who God is. While Chuck got the comeuppance he deserved, it was a disservice to God, and it made no sense for the Winchester brothers and Jack to win at all. There's no way God could have been defeated by his own creations. Another thing I didn't like is that Chuck had a chance to be redeemed, but the show doesn't take it. Another disservice to God. After season 15, I officially hate supernatural as a whole, and hope it is done for good. It did a disservice to God and I will never forgive it for that. God is, was, and should always be good.✝️
