- In this video I place straight pipes in place of my muffler in my 99 Silverado with a 5.3L LM7 V8. I finally did a muffler delete on my Chevy Truck. I must say, I'm diggin' the sound. Will I decide to keep it this way? You're 'bout to find out. Oh, and the truck montage is pretty epic if I do say so myself! Lol.
This is a bone-stock truck that still has the cats. All I did was cut off the stock muffler and replace it with exhaust tubing.

Technically it's a muffler delete....... A straight pipe is when u remove the cats too but yes sounds great
You can "leave the cats on" and still delete them.
@@HillBillyBrown hollowed out yes... the state of Maine were I live the law says If it came with cats from the factory it must have them equipped BUT it doesn't have to have anything in them lol even if the person doing the inspection knows there hollow they still have to put a sticker on it, as long as they're on the car
I think your rustyrado is pretty cool. Its pretty amazing how much longer the engines in these trucks last over the bodies
Those V8’s are practically indestructible as long as you do simple maintenance lol
I love these 5.3s. I have a 2002 Suburban with the same 5.3 in it, im at 200k miles and it still runs like a dream. Body is in good condition aside from the paint, no rust cuz i live in southern CA. Pretty awesome trucks
I hooked up a shop vac to my tail pipe to look for an exhaust leak i had been hearing. Found 11 different leaks lmao

i have a 1999 Chevy Sliverado LS 5.3L V8 Vortec, mines is running at 309K miles on it and still running like a beast.

My setup would be as follows. Shorty Headers, High Flow Cat, Electronic Exhaust Cutout, and that followed by a nice quite muffler so I can drive in town and not get caught.
To cut down on rasp and volume, I use Dynomax Bullets. They don't seem to burn out like other glasspacks do. I've had mine on my Suburban for over a year and aren't any louder than the day I got them, as far as I can tell.
Also, for some reason, the factory tailpipe seems to produce drone and popping. Cut off the tailpipes just before that very last 90 degree bend, leaving as much left as possible. I don't know why, but it works.

it sounds awesome if you’re sixteen years old and this is your first vehicle. when i was sixteen, i had a straight piped camaro z28 and it was awesome. now i’m forty four years old and it is to dam loud. i like the deep rumble of a good turbo muffler or a quality chambered muffler. i don’t mind spending a couple of bucks on a good muffler instead of cheaping out on a crappy one. but if i was still sixteen it is bad ass

My 03 Silverado ( 5.3 ) has cat back to a Y pipe and then duals out to 45 degree tips , sounds great just the exhaust tips get muddy fast.

i noticed a lot of guys using x-pipes. i put on a H-pipe definitely gives it cam loop sound on 2005 sierra 5.3L LM7 with a dual exhaust with cat deletes to flo pro superVs all 2.5''. Not sure if a cold air and mild tune will affect it that much

Sounds just like mine, I have true dual 2 1/4 inch at beginning 3inch rest of the way back, with 4 inch angle cut tip at a 45 degree angle behind the tires. It pops all the time and the cold start sounds so good

I have headers with hollow cat on my 04 Silverado dull exhaust it loud and love it
Cut the rust off and put on some pocket flares. Easy fix for the fenders. Pockets flares are 80$ on ebay. I did it.
If I could only get my TB i6 to sound that good.
I took off my carven exaust and left the cats on and that baby rumbles.
Nice! That is a pretty cheap option to a muffler. I like the start up sounds, but I am a chevy fan! Great video and good commentary to go with it!

@@TheDaninator Not around here. Started my beater a couple years ago (01 Grand Prix SE, NO exhaust due to broken downpipe) at 10am and got yelled at for waking someone up. No joke.

you have the same truck as RevTapIndustries on youtube. Check them out they beat the crap out of that truck and it doesn't come apart.

You know I ordered my Cherry Bomb glasspack by AutoZone and it came back as a cherry bomb extreme wasn't too happy about it but I put it on anyway but I was not disappointed man that thing had a wonderful sound it didn't have the cackle like a old Chevy Chevelle that I had but it sure sounds strong. And you could take the vibrations and the sound wasn't so loud in the cab. And people say it sounds awesome. Good luck people take your choice

Next video should be a huge burn out until the tires are bald or they pop, then just some junk yard tires and get you'll be set, and a cool vid.

I straight piped my 5.3 tahoe! I should have done this a long time ago! I first had a flowmaster with both cats off, My old rusty flowmaster finally took a shit, you can hear some of the chambers rattling around in there so I cut it off and dumped it in the middle..... It's ridiculous loud! I love it! But it's hard to have conversations in my tahoe! So a heads up whoever wants to do this!

I have a 98 chevy 5.3L and don't know what that whizzing/buzzing noise is. Is it bad to keep driving on it? I hear it coming from your truck too, so don't know if you found anything.
William Goetz Chevy trucks are notorious for loud fuel pumps.
Idle and low revs sound nice but once you get going its meh. The pops and cracks are nice tho

Now just get rid of the nasty stock y pipe and exhaust manifold for some headers :)
Did you have problems with the ECU thinking its in limp home mode? I've seen some cars have problems with straight piping and thinking its lost power.
No issues for me.
Muffler delete won't affect nothing with the ECU. Maybe if the cats were straight

I'm going delete the muffler on my neighbors 2005 Silverado 1500. What size is the oem piping? Is 2.5in or 3in?
If I just had a flow master pipe with a muffler towards the end of the pipe but the rest is regular pipe from the stock exhaust could I still delete it?

If you delete the cats your sure to throw an engine code from the O2 sensors. Then the computer will cut some of the gas ratio to compensate for the rich reading that the downstream sensor is reading .Resulting in worse horsepower.

So.. does deleting muffler cause a code, or anything more then poor mpg.
Red Cap no deleting just the muffler doesn’t. But the cats, if the censors are before the cat and you remove them it shouldn’t through one but if the censors is after the cat and you remove it, it’ll through a code
Red Cap as for poor mpg, mufflers won’t do anything to mpg. But if your o2 censors through a code, it will dump more gas into the engine making it run rich and it’ll decrease mpg. But you can get a tune for it
