Saw the crazy post about Rocko being abused by you via the way you live, some really deranged people out there. You and Rocko living your best lives. I couldn't actually think of a dog living a better fulfilling life as Rocko does ( could be left home for 8hrs a day in house while the owners go to work....) Ignore the deranged haters Foresty!
Aw, mate...a person who would think such a thing has lost touch with nature and doesn't consider that Rocko is living the life most house dogs should be living. Adventures in the wild with their person--that's dog heaven.
I haven't seen the post you refer to (nor do I want to). But how ignorant would you have to be not to see how happy this dog is? She's living in dog paradise. Whoever made that post obviously doesn't spend much time around happy active dogs.
I've always loved how you wrap up your vids with thanks to all us watchers ... and I just want to say a heartfelt "thank you" for making these for your fans. It is a two-way street of thanks.
At 63 years young I couldn't have ever imagined a lifestyle you're leading. I'm happy beyond words for you and rocko and grateful you are enjoying life. Happy Trails to you both. Love the history stories too. Thank you for sharing.
For the fact that Rocko was the runt of the litter, she has more spunk, energy and heart than the most ferocious wolf or coyote! She seems like the perfect hiking buddy. You’ve given her a wonderful, adventurous life! 🙂❤️
I agree ,she has the best life away from the madness of life in the cities ,just pure nature and great places to explore with her dad 👍😁. I'm a part time nomad from the UK ,we have some real nice countryside here ,but nothing as spectacular as this location
I am a new viewer and only discovered your channel last week as you rode out the California blizzard. It brought back memories of being a kid experiencing blizzards in North Dakota as the wind and snow blew down from Saskatchewan with nothing to stop it but barbed wire fences. I am sorry to have missed your early adventures from the beginning, but am so happy that I can spend hours looking back through your archives. Your biking adventures alone are epic beyond words. I share your love of mountains and currently reside in the North Central Cascades of Washington state where I can look out on sheer granite cliffs on a daily basis. Thank you for sharing your life with us. It is hard to believe that anyone would be critical of your care of Rocko. As someone who has lived with dogs for decades I can say that little dog exudes nothing but joy and happiness. She will let you know when she's tired or unhappy.
Lots of sauce on the pizza, that's the best way to do it. I have watched this channel for years and I have never stopped loving it. He is free, self reliant, he is doing things that a mere mortal could only do a couple of times in a lifetime. Every week he conquers another mountain. I hope I can keep seeing him continue and nothing but awe.
Well the evening is dark and cold here on the edge of Dartmoor Devon, I have netflix all the channels, and lots of firestick sort of stuff my son installed for me to keep me occupied, and yet, with all that at my finger tips, I much prefer to watch your videos, beautiful, relaxing, and allows me to travel with you to places I can only dream about. Rocko is a really lucky dog to be able to explore and walk, and climb around some stunning areas. Thank you for making such wonderful videos.
Agreed. Foresty is a great planner and fabricator. Not many have his building skills and he would make a good field engineer. His planning gives him control over every detail of how he wants it for him. After watching so many other videos of vans that are prebuilt all the same way, they don’t look very smart compared to Forestys. His has not one wasted inch of space. He has redundant heating systems that give wood burning stove comfy heat, cooking, beautiful light in the evenings, diesel heat, heat from batteries. It would cost a fortune to have a contractor build out a unit the same as his. He’s like Inspector Gadget - he has every conceivable tool, pot, supplies for outdoor hiking. He takes social media to a whole new height with his drone cinema, all edited in his van. Snow shoes, electric chainsaw, all the tech gear you need to make those incredible climbs to the top. And a comfy situation for Roco. That dog is well adjusted and that’s saying something for that breed. She eats well, if it’s cold out he puts a good coat on her. She sleeps under his sleeping bag, on top of him in various positions, on the dashboard when he is easy cruising, and his confidence in Roco keeps her calm and close by while hiking. No fear of that dog running away. He dines sumptuously in that van. Cooking on top of his wood burning stove seems to give a lot of viewers a sense of old time comfort that is absent from our hectic lifestyle.
Yep, the great Danny Trejo! Also, this made me yearn to return to the Southwest. You picked the perfect time of year to visit! Things are starting to bloom, trails clearing up and the rattlers aren't out in force yet. Plus, you can hike through the afternoons without turning into human soup. Also looks like Rocko's loving life and learning more about trail safety hahah stay well Simon
I remember the first van life video you posted, which has now been deleted, that you thought you were only going to feed yourself ramen in the van. Love how you've now got a "gourmet cooking" and hiking show. I've been here since day 1 and look forward to every video. Can you post clips from the first video you made where you camp outside your job in your car to save travel time and money so new followers can see how far you have come. Love your videos! Greetings from Norway
The view of you sitting on the edge watching out over that magnificent view, drinking a nice IPA, with Rocko by your side was epic! There's something special being all alone out in the wilderness, looking out over the open landscape and only hearing the wind.
Your pizza dough looks great! You could try mixing it in the morning, letting it rise a bit and then “cold ferment” in your fridge during the day. That should give you more flavor and a nice chewy texture.
Someone on Reddit recommended your channel, and for good reason. I'm liking your chill vibe. and Rocko is about the cutest adventure dog you could ever ask for. Building my van out now for when I retire in a couple of years, and can't wait to venture out. One thing I have learned from watching just 2 of your videos, you don't skimp on meals and they look absolutely delicious. Happy trails!
So happy when I see a new video from my favorite UA-cam channel. In this crazy world,it’s nice to see that there are still beautiful places. Nothing makes me happier than to watch a video from FF cooking, climbing, camping or just living and seeing Rocco makes my heart melt. I’m upping my patreon level so FF never goes back to the factory!
I do believe this is the first time I’ve seen you clean shaven. Looks good! I would have so much fun exploring all those little nooks & crannies. The ancient artwork is gorgeous! Hugs & love to you and Rocko!!!❤️❤️
Hi FF, I’ve never commented before, I don’t think, but I really appreciate your videos. Just tested positive for the first time after being around too many people. Kind of long for your life. Also, you have the nicest smile - it’s always been there but now just lights up your clean shaven face. Safe travels! 😁
We are building out a cutaway 4x and I am using this Foresty as my "reconnaissance in depth" as the old English mountaineers did in the day. Thanks to both of you.
Rocks is the happiest little camper, and a really good climber. If she could talk, she would confirm , how happy she is. Great hike, keep on keeping on😊
That is THE cutest little dog living her best life. Rocko should have her own channel. Better yet video her antics more here. She's the best hiking buddy ever.
Hello from Eastern 🇨🇦 Canada. I sit down most nights with my dinner. Put on one of your videos and watch over tea. Just splendid. Big hugs to you and Roko. ❤
maybe the first time I've commented, but Simon thanks for all the videos. Always a highlight of my week, reminds me of all the joys of being on the road. i started rewatching your older videos again recently and makes me want to build another van. cheers man!
Have been bingeing a lot of Matt's off road Recovery (and other Utah off road guys) lately and now feel like Utah (and UA-cam) is trying to get me to come back and explore. If you get stuck, give Matt or Rory? a call, they will get you out. Rocko is perfect size for a dash puppy. The only way to travel. *Also, buy some mint extract to sprinkle around the inside of the van. They even sell it at farm supply places in packet form to leave in tractors. Mice hate it and it keeps the interior smelling minty fresh.
I like the quiet beautiful exploration videos also. What ever you feel like is good! I am so happy that Rocko has someone that is there for him and takes him for hikes. Jack Russells are such a ball of energy , you and Rocko are a perfect match!
You should of course feel free to make whatever kind of video you want, but personally I prefer this format. A few hikes, a few cooks, a few comments. I don't think you should feel pressure to talk all the time, just do whatever feels natural. I'll watch regardless :)
Thanks!❤😎👍 I was trying to add you can get a gallon of natural peppermint oil from Walmart. Its US farmed peppermint called mighty mint ( all natural) safe around Rocco. Put some in spray bottle and all spring spray your wheel wells, tires, back cupboards engine..all wiring ..it scares off rodents, ground squirrels, mice, rats varmints. I use it year round. Best thing I've ever had for keeping Hanta virus and varmints out of my 30 ft desert trailer!❤👍

Can't put my finger on why, but you are looking much healthier in this video. The last few videos, the wife and I both noticed you weren't looking well. Long-Covid or something perhaps. Glad to see you looking healthy and smiling. Cheers.
Been a bit busy so just catching up on the last few videos. Not sure if you’ll see it. A good way to hold the fire wood may be get a trailer hitch vice. Only 130 bucks at harbor freight. Hopefully you get the van fixed soon.
I enjoy your videos and the peaceful way you show rRocco and the fantastic scenery. Utah is so beautiful from red rocks and canyons to Wasatch. Stay safe and thanks for taking us along with you. Your food always looks so yummy. Looking forward to seeing your next video.
Well I'm really glad you have posted. With your last one saying you were trapped in the blizzards in California, and people putting 'help us' in the snow up in San Bernardino, I'm glad to hear you're out of California.
Love your videos! I cannot imagine anyone thinking Rocco doesn’t have the best life ever. I also cannot imagine having mice come in your van. You are brave!!!!
I understand what you mean by wandering aimlessly, and then forcing yourself to stop. Explore. Understand. Loved every detail in this one and am trying to picture how and when my own doggo and I can explore there.
The intro music, the push of the button to stop play🎉 those drive by mountain scenes. The way you extend the sound while changing scenes is great. Love your creativity. 🎉
Love your choice of music in the first part of the video. That pizza looked awesome! The scenery is breath taking. We have been to Utah and it’s so beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing your sights, those we can’t drive too. Have you ever hollered in some of those spots to see if they echo? That rock formation with the holes and Rocco inside was gorgeous! I love when you show the stone carvings. I remember when you did it last year ... I'll never get to that spot so I get to live that hike vicariously through you. Thank you so much!
Thanks Foresty for making me use that mushy thing inside my noggin. I said “MACHETE” right before you said Danny Trejo. Lol. Love your channel my friend. Tell Rocko good job on those technical rock climbs❤️

Hey forest, it was a pleasure meeting you at the grocery store, looks like you missed the snow like we did. We were talking about how your van was a good size with its lift. We were surprised how many people we ran into down in the swell for this time of year. Seems to get more known nowadays.

I've been enjoying your channel for a couple of years now. You're doing what I want to do and will be next year. I can't wait to live the van life and have my own channel. I'll be with my Chihuahua, Nibby.
Thanks for all the inspiration, sights, and adventures.
Love you and Rocko!
I love when you show the stone carvings. I remember when you did it last year ... I'll never get to that spot so I get to live that hike vicariously through you. Thank you so much!
Rocko chillin' to the blues. Great opening.
Thanks Foresty for making me use that mushy thing inside my noggin. I said “MACHETE” right before you said Danny Trejo. Lol. Love your channel my friend. Tell Rocko good job on those technical rock climbs❤️
Thanks for the new episode.
Thank you 🍻
I feel like a baby who is seeing their dad without a beard for the first time. MOM IM SCARED WHO IS THIS MAN

Those little #@&% bout drove me crazy out there.
I enjoy both styles of your video making - you do it well 👍
As much as I like your narrating, I really liked the format of the previous video as well! A lot. Unexpected and appreciated change from the usual content.
Oooh, great, great choice of music 🎶 🎵 to start things off with! What a campsite, what a view. Stunning.

Relieved to see you and Rocko left the California blizzards and made it safely to someplace with better weather. Take care. 😎
Hey forest, it was a pleasure meeting you at the grocery store, looks like you missed the snow like we did. We were talking about how your van was a good size with its lift. We were surprised how many people we ran into down in the swell for this time of year. Seems to get more known nowadays.
Lucky you !
How did you not faint
