Thanks mate. These last few months have been a pain and required all my attention away from the channel - but I hope tio change that in the new year :)
I was so looking forward to this video and it didn’t disappoint. Great questions and awesome answers from Tom. I enjoyed his take on Kickstarter. I’d love to hear what you both think about indiegogo.
Great interview Ali, just as I expected! Good tip for any designer from Tom. I think that balancing the time between development and research/playing games is super important. When you can't seem to figure out what to do with your game design, it's always a good idea to play other games to kind of reset your brain. Luckily I live nearby my local library with loads of games, and not too far from capital libraries with almost any game you could imagine, without them, I would've never been able to play all the games I've played.
I’m super envious Juha! Before lockdown I was able to play at my local gaming club but lately I’ve been resigned to playing with the family - luckily they have the same appetite as me for games, lol! But yes one thing I’ve learned while exploring what it takes to design a game is that the answer is almost always “play more games!”
Excellent interview! I agree with Tom on preferring real life versus Tabletopia, but as someone who is designing a boardgame Tabletopia really makes it easy to create a prototype and playtest with random people. I'm planning on showing my prototype to a publisher via zoom and using tabletopia.
Thanks for the comment Wouter and I agree that Tabletopia does help in many instances - especially in the current climate of course. How are you finding your playtesters?
@@GamingIndoors Currently I playtest with friends and friends of friends. Luckily I have spread the gospel of boardgaming over the years so I have many different kinds of playtesters available. Soon I will be ready to share the link to my prototype on tabletopia with 'randoms' via reddit or BGG probably.
Hey Keith - thanks for asking. It's been a tough last few months and I've not had the chance to progress the channel as I had hoped. But that said, I have PLENTY more to share in the new year so hopefully my silence on the channel in this last quarter of 2020 will just be a small blip in its history.
I really hope you upload videos more frequently. Because they are really amazing

I finally just found your channel, I've been looking for a good series on game design and now I've found you.
