    Will they be available in other countries, and when?
    Yes, they will be available in other countries but Govee has not shared specific plans. It depends on capacity after the US launch.
    Will different size kits and extra strings be available, and when?
    Yes, other lengths and extra strings will be available but Govee has not shared specific plans. It depends on capacity after the US launch.
    I need more than 100 feet. What should I do?
    Unless you're willing to wait for additional size kits, I suggest you buy two 100-foot kits. You can keep the extra strings and controller as a backup, use them elsewhere around your home, or resell them.

    I just got the Govee 200 feet Pro, problem I had like many people is the two side tapes failing, especially since I live on a hot and humid tropical island and most houses are made of concrete, my solution was to put a good drop of E6000 glue in the middle of each dial, seems to hold up pretty well, other than that, love it. 🥰🥰🥰

    I think both options of these lights are great. Comes down to pros and cons for yourself and what makes sense for you. For everyone not a fan for govee adding more lights on the pro version, you have to look at the give and take. The power source can supply up to 200ft where the older version was 150ft. Thats very hard to accomplish by keeping that many lights on a strand for the pro version. Currently in the process of painting our house and can’t wait to throw these up with some curtain and string lights.

    I decided to stick with the standard set. I just couldn’t justify $170 more for the 100’ Pro set ( getting the regular 100’ set at Sam’s Club for $230 ). The only thing I feel I’m really missing out on is the true white options, and when you are putting up 250+ feet of lights that cost savings adds up really quick.

    The Govee website recommends installing 3 to 8 cm from the wall surface. Because my eaves are enclosed in stucco, I would prefer to install them on the edge of the facia board which is about 16 inches from the wall surface. I am worried About how much light will make it to the wall. Have you tried installing them further than the recommended distance and if so, how do they look?

    • @artriddle9091

      I have a similar issue that my eaves have 2x4 supports every 2 feet jutting down making it hard to have the wire go around them so I have been researching a solution. I saw a picture on reddit where they used a z-bracket to attach to the bottom of the eave to have the lights slightly behind and still pointing down. The light splash on the house was more spread out so it really illuminates the house more instead of having a focused splash that looks more like Christmas lights would. Another solution I found was to get some aluminum channels to put the lights in to be attached closer to the house under the 2x4 support beams. Either way a lot of work so I am trying to decide what will be best.

    Black makes a lot more sense to me than white. As it happens my trim is dark green, and black on dark green will work fine. I'm picking up the Pro variant. I didn't know I needed this until I saw it. My plan is to just staple the wire to the trim (which is wood) to keep it flat and neat. I'm also not using those gigantic splicing things in a world that has Posilock connectors and shrink tube. The proper, real white that the Pro version can produce is a big deal. I don't want my house lit up in garish colors in the day to day, but having a nice white light to light up the facade would be great at night. And then some garish reds for Christmas.

    Something to note about the Govee lights is that the 3M backing tape WILL fail if you're in a hot and humid state. It might take a year or two, but unless you nail or staple down the cables, your going to have sagging lights at some point.
    Also, and this is from experience, if you live in an HOA you may get a notice for these vs something permanent like Jellyfish or Gemstone. My house has brown trim and no matter where I put these under the overhang, you could still see them from the street and I got a letter that they "weren't desirable" if left up all year. Honestly, I agree. They look very "bolt on" or DIY. On the other hand, Jellyfish came out and they install a conduit that is color matched to your house. You have to look hard to see them from the street.
    These aren't bad at all and are a lot of fun and I moved mine to the patio in the back as accent lighting but for permanent out front lights, I just felt like for the front, Jellyfish was the better option. Gemstone wasn't readily available where I was in the time frame I needed them so I can't comment on those.

    I'm still trying to decide if I'm ok with the reduction in the number of elements and the increased spacing. At first it does seem like you're getting less for more $$. But if you consider some of the improvements, I almost consider it a wash. It's just the spacing is the big roadblock for me.

      The pro version spacing looks more similar to regular pot lights. The regular version looks more identical to Christmas lights. As such, the pro version will attract customers who aren't simply looking for holiday lights but also want the aesthetic pot lights look.

      The 3M tapes are there to act as a second pair of hands. They hold the lights while you use two hands to install the clips. They won’t hold forever regardless of how clean the surface is.

    They should improve the app before more products. It’d be nice if I could create my own layout of my house, ie divide the strings for each section of my house. • @Kryoxys

    I think the reason they went with less lights per strand is simply because the new lights require more power/data with having the added white LEDs. For short runs its not a problem but longer runs would likely result in less signal reaching the end of the strand. Basically if they kept the same density, you would get less overall length compared to the non-pro version. Although it does seem they are already adding a relay option (coming soon) which would have solved this problem. Perhaps a Pro 2 could see denser strands or they may just keep it if people don't mind and save some $$.

      The tape is just to hold them in place long enough for physical fasteners.

    • @bear42geo
      @bear42geo 3 місяці тому

      @handydadtv this is true. Govee recommends and supplies some fasterners spaced every 5 pucks and at the beginning and end of the run. However, this doesn't stop the pucks that do not have fasteners from failing. I have seen this too often. Govee does not supply ecough fasteners for each puck. Thanks for your opinions.

    I think a Pro version should be more customizable. Like if i need 25ft of LEDs i need to join 2 of the 16.4ft strips so it ends up being nearly 33ft, and i either have to have extra wires if i reduce the spacing between the LEDs to fit or i have to turn off some LEDs at the end. We should also be able to buy all the pieces as required (extra PSU, etcetera). Instead its just another walled garden.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  7 місяців тому

      The pro kit lets you cut the strings to the exact 25’ length you need, then use the cutoff 8’ to start on the next roofline.

    • @TheCrytone
      @TheCrytone 7 місяців тому

      @@handydadtv I meant if you didn't have another roofline to jump to. Like if I buy the 100ft kit but only need 90ft for my project, you end up with 10ft of LEDs unused. You can't just chop them off. My roofline is not continuous and I have multiple soffit plugs for power so I would rather not jump around and have smaller sections/more PSUs.
      I stand by that a pro version should be able to be customized to fit any roofline and not force you to divide the roofline into 16.4ft sections, which often doesn't make a nice round number.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  7 місяців тому +1

      @TheCrytone With the pro kit, you can cut the last string and terminate it with the splicing connector. With the standard kit, you can still cut the last string; you just need to do your own waterproof termination.
      It would be nice if they shipped a single spool of lights. But Govee chose to only manufacture them in 5-meter strings.

    I gotta ask. What’s the difference between permanent lights and the guy who’s just to lazy to take Christmas lights down each year. (ahem, I’m looking at you, “neighbor-from-3-doors-down). As long as these are surface mounted, I’m afraid they’d just look sloppy in the summer time. I like this concept a lot, but that is my reason for hesitance on this. Any summertime users out there?

    • @omgitsjulian
      @omgitsjulian 7 місяців тому +2

      100% valid concern. I think the difference you'll find from these compared to your lazy neighbor (I have one who "celebrates" halloween year round myself, so I feel your pain.) is that the lights are individually addressable. There some folks out there using select lights to act at accents to their home. Think of putting one light on on each corner of your home or to highlight a window or entry way. There some really classy applications you can use if you start getting creative.
