I just ordered the originals from Amazon, but will be returning them and getting the Pros. Thank you for the video. The only reason I’m changing them is for the warm white option that I can’t get with the originals. Also. The 200ft length works better for my installation.
Go figure, just got done putting up 400' of the original lights on my house, and another 400' on my parents' house... however, I think I like the originals compared to the added price tag. I don't like the splicing option, looks pretty bulky and would need to definitely be mounted with hardware, then also try to find somewhere to tuck them away on each splice to not be an eyesore. Here's my vote from them to also release a brown version of the lights, to give all the common soffit/eaves colors an easy option! Would be nice to see the max brightness differential. I know its hard to capture with a camera, but that's the biggest selling point of the Pros, and we can't really see how that looks on your house in this video. What do all those extra lumens actually do compared to the originals?
My trim is white so the black wouldn’t have worked for me. I didn’t want to stick them up so I used a piece of J-channel for the outside comparison. I show a brief clip in the end screen. As for brightness, I didn’t see any difference with RGB. I think their claim of 30 lumens per light is only in white mode.
Same here. Just finished putting up 300+ feet but the pro has less lights and costs $100 more. I’m ok with what I got. They look better closer together anyways. Plus I got them for colors not white.
@RushPL1 I’m exploring options for an upcoming video. I like the use of J-channel because (1) it’s cheap, (2) it hides the wires, and (3) it could be used as a temporary, removable channel if you can’t have (or don’t want) permanent lights.
Thanks for the video. Considering I plan to use white light 90% of the time. The pro is worth the upgrade for me. However for many people I don’t;t think it is worth the upgrade.
The Pro and standard editions use the same app so they support the same scenes. You can only get a sense of the scenes when the whole house is done so look for installation videos; they usually show demos.
Just decided to look these lights up again and noticed there's a "pro" version out now. I don't need black because my soffits are white, the brightness seems to be too similar to tell, plus I live on a street with zero lights and my house would be plenty bright already. I prefer the closer together setup with more lights per string. I'm not afraid of splicing to make it fit in the areas I need them to fit. I do think having the adjustable white temps would be nice but I don't think that single feature alone is worth it to me to buy the Pro over the standard lights since I'll likely leave the white alone anyways. Thank you for the video and the comparison breakdown.
If you cut the lights from one string and add them to another, how does this impact the lighting pattern programs? I greatly appreciate your video. I wanted the effects on changing colored lights for different holidays. So I definitely do not need the added white light feature of the pro version. I am going to see if I can put these in translucent plastic eggshells to see if they will mimic bulbs. Perhaps I will make a video to see how well it turns out. I will stick with the less expensive version. I think the pro version uses the white LEDs to indicate the 50lm output, as I did not see any appreciable difference between the two sets with the colors demonstrated in your video, other than the more full coverage with the earlier model. If you splice or clip the string, do you void the warranty or the extended warranties? I would like to know so I don’t get the added protection that would not apply to me if I cannot replace them if they fail.
The PROs are designed to be cut. So they won’t void the warranty. Cutting the others isn’t supported so you’re on your own if a cut string fails during the warranty period. Scenes will work the same whether they are cut or not.
I think the original ones are better. The lights are closer together and have the lights blurr together for a solid look. The PRO ones look too spaced out and are choppy. I would rarely light up my house white for day-to-day operation. Mostly used for holidays like Halloween or Christmas! Maybe the prices will do on the originally when the pro goes on sale!

I was debating on taking back the original set and getting the pros but after watching this the originals will be going up. Govee should come out with colored wire covers to match your house.

Great video. Question: can you set an individual bulb to a specific color? I can't figure out from watching and researching if it's only four bulbs at a time must be the SAME color or can I change an individual bulb???
I have been considering for a while. Called a pro company (Trimlight) and they wanted thousands of dollars. My hesitation is that my trim is dark brown, so I know white wouldn’t work, maybe black would be ok. I wish they were a little closer together. And an additional $100 seems excessive, but what other options are there.
$100 might be a bit excessive. But if you compare it to the thousands of dollars that the company "Trimlight" wanted to charge you. It's really not a bad deal...
Trimlight quoted me $9,000 to do our simple 1900 sq/ft single story house. I think they will be doing a lot of free quotes without getting any business. Brighthomelights has RGBW Kits that you can buy for a fraction of the price and do them yourself also, but this pro version got me thinking
I had never heard of those lights before. Thanks I'm going to consider putting them on my house after I have it painted. The difference between the 2 sets that I could see other than difference in the whites is where the puddle of light stops. The original has a wider light puddle than the pro. I sort of wish they made the original in the pro's trim. I prefer the light from the original but the convenience of the pro's whirring and the wider puddle of light.
Figures... I just put up the original version last week (bought them a couple of months ago) and I didn't even see a pro version on their website, or I would have got those instead. Having said that, I still quite happy with my purchase, I spliced my own where required anyways without issue. The only two things that bug me is they're all white. Not a great look on a house with all deep brown trim and soffits. The second is the programming, I'm sure some kid would have no issue but in my 60s and I find it user unfriendly and frustrating. I'm sure they could be made simpler to self program in somehow. Overall, they do look great on the house, and I'm happy with the result. Thanks for the video.
I’m not a fan of the app either, but it’s functional if you take the time to learn it. The built-in scenes are limited and they can’t be tweaked. So focus on learning the DIY capabilities.
Paying more and getting less lights, I'm not sure about. If I'm putting these on my house, every night is going to be a light show and I want as many lights as I can get dancing around my home. Yes, the better white light is nice, but how often are you going to be running just white light? It is nice to see a company that seems to be listening to its customers I know people have been asking for the black wires (probably the day the first kit came out) and splicing the old kit kills the warranty. So, I'm still on the fence, no shortage of projects around the house maybe next holiday season I'll be picking up the Pro Plus version (or ten grand falls in my lap and I just call Jellyfish? We can all dream right.) Thanks, Dad, for the great informative video.
White would presumably used on non-holidays. The spacing and focused light cones are what make Govee unique. Jellyfish, Gemstone, etc., are just wall washing downlights.
You can't go a week in the states without someone pushing some sort of hallmark holiday. And I'm no expert, but all of these outdoor lights seem to be "wall washing downlights". But if I'm spending $2 on some lights, no matter what they are, if they can dance and move that's what's going to be happening at my home way more than just some white standing still lights. @@handydadtv
@@handydadtv I actually don't know...I needed a wire to connect between the left side of my front door to the right side and the extension cord that comes with it will not work. It's to thick. Do you have a suggestion? Is there a certain lighting wire I can buy?
Can you splut the line to have your single line go out 2 directions? ie power in the center and then route a line left of your house and another to the right side of your house?
Excellent video! I have a few questions. I live in a 3 level split house. Will the PRO version of the lights work for the following measurements?? 1) I need 16feet of lights on my Garage 2) I then have a 18ft Gap to the next set of lights on my first upper peak ( 16feet of lights needed here) 3)I then have a 18ft Gap to the next set of lights on the highest peak ( 60feet of lights needed here) So I will need 92 feet of lights. So the 100ft in the PRO set should work? In order to use the lights as intended and have then in one line.... - How will I bridge the first gap of 18 feet and then the second gap of 18 feet? - Will the One Extensions + 2 Shorter Extensions reach? How long is the longer extension and the two smaller extensions? Or will I need to splice in my own wire? If so, what wire do you recommend, what gauge and where do you recommend getting it? - Will the splicers that come in the kit be enough to do two gaps? - I want to keep the Controller and Power supply on the lower garage so I have easy access to it. Thanks for your help.
Does Govee sell extra lengths/spools of the wire and extra splice kits? The splicing feature is great and I'd need to run longer lengths of wire in several places up through my siding corners between roofs on my house. I'd need perhaps several 10' length of extensions/splices to do so.
I plan on getting the Govee pro 200 ft. Out of curiosity, can you use a wye connection right from the power source? I know it’s a weird setup but basically I need to go 100 ft one way and 100 ft the other and the power source is dead smack in the middle.
@handydadtv thank you for this it really helped. Could you please tell me what brackets are used @5:58? I have a similar roof style and trying to figure out a solution.
Was about to buy these and we read they they won't function in temps below -20. Our winters are long and cold, I'm worried these wouldn't work most of the winter.
There is a difference between “won’t function” and “tested to function”. They were only tested to -20. That doesn’t necessarily mean they will fail at -30.
Great videos. Do you know if we can invert the extremity where we plug the power and control ? Because my leds are already in place. But will be a lot more estetic if I change the power from one extremity to the other. Tks
@handydadtv I have exposed beams/trusses as shown at 5:58 in your video. If that is your home or if you happen to know, what type of brackets are used there to keep the LED portion of the cable at a relatively consistent distance away from the building material? Great video BTW!
Just discovered your channel, very nice video. Couple of questions... 1. Where did u decide to plug them in at? 2. Where did u find that wire stripper! LOL
1. Plug them in wherever you have an outdoor outlet. If you don’t have one, consider adding one (I have videos on that!). 2. Self-adjusting wire strippers 👉🏻 handydad.tv/wstr
What did you use for when the lights did not line up with a stud? What did you use to stand the lights off from the plywood board to match the ones on the studs?
Those are just photos I found. Not my installation. Post pictures of your setup on Reddit /r/Govee and ask for advice. Tons of knowledgeable people there.
Great Video. I literally just installed the original to find out there was a pro. I typically like a candy cane effect and the original "white" is not white at all, very purple blue. I have the govee spot lamps and those produce white that matches my other outdoor lighting. Is the white a true match? I dont want to take down my 100ft unless it is. 😅
Do you know if you can make a three way split with the pro lights? I have an outlet under my eve in the middle of my house. Ideally I would put in a splitter at the outlet and have one strand going left and one going right. Any thoughts or suggestions?
I would only do that if I had the exact same length strings in both directions and I intentionally wanted them to be mirrored. It would be best to find a power source near one end and use them as intended.
Are you able to selectively turn on and off individual lights? For times you just want to accent your home and not have it look like holiday lights. Thanks
I've just put up two sections of the original and thankfully your video popped up. I'm not seeing a lot of people mention that the power adapter on the new pro can carry 200 ft., that's a game changer for me. The added extension and splicing lines as well as it being black and the warm light feature are going to make me take these down. Hopefully I'll have them up by Halloween. Thanks for your very informative breakdown!
Hello since you have both of them, could you please check and confirm if I can use the extension cable from old generation into the Pro version, also did you test for backward compatibility ?
These look just what im after....where did you get them from please. i am in the UK and i have done a Google search but there arent any showing !?....Thx, Mark.
Great video. You definitely cleared up my confusion on whether to go with the Pro or the original set. Thank you. Do you happen to have any Promo Codes to offset the high price tag? Doesn't hurt to ask.
Love the review thank you. Question when you did the side by side comparison I see that you have them mounted in some sort of channel cover. Can you please tell me what size they are and were you got them. I haven't been able to find any.
I don't like how big the splice connector is. I'll stick with my old version and cutting wires and using solder sticks butt connects it's smaller and water proof. Thanks for the video
Now that I just purchased the original ones that come in white and then painted them brown like my trim. These come out. L O L. Even though I do like the features of the new one. Since I already have these. I don’t think it’s worth the extra hundred dollars. Especially if the main thing that I would be buying them for is the ability to splice them. Which brings up another problem. It seems that the deals they give you to splice are pretty bulky. I wish they could slim that down a little. Thank you for the video. Lots of good information
I want to install these with the 3m tape (no screws) because it's a rental apartment. Because of the building material, the tape will stick better if the lights are installed points forward instead of down. Do you think it will look bad with the lights pointing forward (away from the building)? : )
Permanent lights? What’s the warranty and how good would they honor it, or how good would customer service be? What would the typical life expectancy be? And finally, what do you do if 1 light burns out?
Yes, but you won’t be able to use any of the 3M adhesives and it’ll be a major pain to drive tiny screws in their clips while holding onto a ladder if you can’t stick them up first. Not impossible, but hard. My opinion is you should consider permanent lights with channels, like these ua-cam.com/video/WjlweVd7MZc/v-deo.html.
You can terminate a string with half of the splicing kit, but it's also fine to cut the wire, separate them, and enclose the ends with a little hot glue.
Shopping on Prime Day and found your review to help - loved it! I want the Pros - just need to convince my better half they're worth the extra coin! haha!
That was my main concern and why I didn't immediately hop on the permanent outdoor lights because, as the name implies... they should be permanent... right? Not impossible to get off but pretty difficult without potentially leaving some damage. So when the upgrade to the pros come out, will these be hard to take down if I want to upgrade?
I think it depends on the surface material and how well the lights were adhered. It might have no impact on vinyl, but it might cause damage to painted surfaces. Just guessing because I didn’t do any testing with the permanent installation tapes.
I will be using the splice kits on the Pro version and then using the extension wire to the next eave. Do I need to use the cut off lights after the extension or can I just plug the next string of lights in?
I like everything about the pro more except the space apart between the lights. The original has a good spacing so you get a continuous light stream casted as opposed to the pro.
About to use your link to buy the pro. Quick question if I have a 2 story house and want the first and second floor to come together do you just have 1 wire splice into 2 wires. Does that work with these ?
Been looking at the original for a while but the pro is everything everyone has been asking for. They actually listened to what the people wanted and needed! Now can we buy a extra 100ft plus extensions without the controller for cheaper?
It really does make sense for them to have two different kinds of products. Marketing likely told them to call it Pro to sell more, just think that was a mistake. The two products perform differently and serve different purposes, they should be called that accordingly; like Govee Outdoor Seasonal and Govee Outdoor Illumination
I live on the west coast & most if not all of the houses are stucco, is there a way to mount them not using the adhesive which it useless out here. Thx
The adhesive is just for convenience during installation. Long term, you need a clip on both sides of the lights. Use a longer screw than included in the kit.
I’m more interested in the matter support with HomeKit that no one has tried or reviewed yet. I have the normal porch and driveway lights automated for sunset. But with HomeKit when I come home my garage door opens, the lights inside the garage come on, the door from the garage to the house unlocks. And if this supports matter and can be used with HomeKit I can make it increase brightness when I arrive for 5 minutes on the approach to my house. Or maybe if it running a theme for a holiday to just switch to normal lighting for when I arrive a change back after 5 minutes. If the doorbell detects motion then change to full white at 100% also. But no one has tested this with matter yet, sort of makes me want to try them and review them with matter and HomeKit.
@@handydadtv Hi, thanks for your revue again. I shot you an email, I’m sure you will recognize the address it comes from. As for the HomeKit video, I’m sure we can work something out. Had a few more ideas for that automation also but I really need to see what scene and possibilities they offer on their app as well. This will be my first product from this company. Look forward to chatting a little more. Scott
Do they not sell the hiding channels like Trimlight uses? Seems Trimlight is the same type of product but requires pro install, which looks so much better.
Puck lights like this don’t require any channels, but you can see the wires. They’re good for people who don’t want to spend the money on a professional installation, or who don’t want to bother installing any of the DIY channels.
How do people put these all around there house if the most you can connect to it is 250ft?. Also where does the power source connect to and how does the setup look. I want to add this to my home but it’s not long enough to go all around and don’t want my cable setup looking like a forest.
First off this is a great video and helped me decide which to purchase. So thank you for that. Second, have you thought of an option for these to be used temporarily on the roof for around Christmas?
Great video. Just subscribed. Thank you. At this time stamp 15:26 I notice you’re embedding your lights in a channel of sorts. Can you share the url where you found these channels? Thank you in advance.
Are there any lighting feature differences? Can you turn off some lights on the pro vs the original? Are there any different scenes available on the new ones?
I see a huge difference in coverage. I don't know how that can be missed. Having the 5th light is important when the light is less diffused like these are. Look at the cones, they are more even with the regular version than the pro. They should have never removed that extra light, in reality they should have added a couple more or found a way to increase the brightness with the diffusion to make it seem more like a glow and less as a defined light source. I was eager to get with the pro but after seeing this, I don't think so.
The sharp cones are what make Govee lights unique. I personally like it. There are tons of other downlighting solutions with close lights that just wash the wall with color.
Ahhhhh so my procrastinating pays off yet again. I had bought the 150' less than 3 weeks ago but it's been in the (unopened) Amazon box since then because procrastination. I guess it was a good thing
I have power right in the middle of where I want these to go, can I splice them in a way where I can send lights to either side with power right in the middle?
I have a question, I was looking to install this lights 14" apart and conceal the loose wire. Have you seen like this set up before? The reason for is i bought 100ft and am only needing around 78ft and instead of cutting the excess lights I just rather compress each light for few inches to get used most out of it. What is your thought on this? Thank you in advance
@@handydadtv thanks for the input, i have the wire cover as well so basically from light to light it was covered and I bought same color as the light. Thanks again
i like that you can get black now( my house has black soffit. ) But the original LED have more of a flood effect vs the pro seems more like spotlight. I think i like the flood effect better for xmas lighting?

Yes. You can set colors by segment (like a group of four) or individually.
Tape is for setting, clips are for securing. Makes it easier to install before breaking out the tools.
Especially when working on a ladder!

It’s the most economical option for DIY if you don’t mind seeing wires.
$100 might be a bit excessive. But if you compare it to the thousands of dollars that the company "Trimlight" wanted to charge you. It's really not a bad deal...
Just tape off the light itself and paint them.
Trimlight quoted me $9,000 to do our simple 1900 sq/ft single story house. I think they will be doing a lot of free quotes without getting any business. Brighthomelights has RGBW Kits that you can buy for a fraction of the price and do them yourself also, but this pro version got me thinking
@leec2340 Can be done, but what a pain.
Glad I came up on your video. I always thought if we could splice the wires, but with how easy it is for the pro version, I might make the jump.
Get them before they sell out handydad.tv/apro
I had never heard of those lights before. Thanks
I'm going to consider putting them on my house after I have it painted.
The difference between the 2 sets that I could see other than difference in the whites is where the puddle of light stops. The original has a wider light puddle than the pro.
I sort of wish they made the original in the pro's trim. I prefer the light from the original but the convenience of the pro's whirring and the wider puddle of light.
You’d never know if you didn’t see them side by side.
Was it difficult to splice them together? Will 1 power source handle 2 100 foot light chords?
😊😊😊Would you happen to know what type of 20 Gauge Wire I can use when I cut the lights? Thank you for such a GREAT video!!!😊😊😊
No, but how did you decide to use 20 gauge wire?
@@handydadtv I actually don't know...I needed a wire to connect between the left side of my front door to the right side and the extension cord that comes with it will not work. It's to thick. Do you have a suggestion? Is there a certain lighting wire I can buy?
@pennyarizzio2824 I use 18 gauge, 3-conductor wire made for LEDs: a.co/d/hccNQsi?tag=ha0d9f-20

Can you splut the line to have your single line go out 2 directions? ie power in the center and then route a line left of your house and another to the right side of your house?
Can you split Govee lights with a Wye Connector?
ua-cam.com/video/zhqqC9orh0s/v-deo.html
Great video - * Can you isolate individual lights for ‘Accent lighting’ on the corners of the house?
Yes
Excellent video!
I have a few questions. I live in a 3 level split house. Will the PRO version of the lights work for the following measurements??
1) I need 16feet of lights on my Garage
2) I then have a 18ft Gap to the next set of lights on my first upper peak ( 16feet of lights needed here)
3)I then have a 18ft Gap to the next set of lights on the highest peak ( 60feet of lights needed here)
So I will need 92 feet of lights.
I’m no expert. You can get great input from a huge community of Govee users on Reddit /r/govee. Post a photo of your house with your questions.
Does Govee sell extra lengths/spools of the wire and extra splice kits?
The splicing feature is great and I'd need to run longer lengths of wire in several places up through my siding corners between roofs on my house. I'd need perhaps several 10' length of extensions/splices to do so.
Unfortunately, not at this time. They may in the future, but you’ll be done by then.
I plan on getting the Govee pro 200 ft. Out of curiosity, can you use a wye connection right from the power source? I know it’s a weird setup but basically I need to go 100 ft one way and 100 ft the other and the power source is dead smack in the middle.
Yes but I wouldn’t recommend it.
HandyDadTV may you post a link and possible a tutorial on how to use the wire snips with different gauge wire. I like them very much.
I use them in tons of electrical videos. Http://handydad.tv/wstr
On the orginal govee lights in the app there is a white slider you can yellow the white to get warm white
Yes, I missed that. All it does is reduce the blue so the color looks more yellow.
Do you know if they are going to sell the boost module that their website says will be needed for more than 100ft?
I don’t know.
@handydadtv thank you for this it really helped. Could you please tell me what brackets are used @5:58? I have a similar roof style and trying to figure out a solution.
That was just a photo found on Reddit. I believe they used a metal 2x4 stud cut with tin snips.
Tks
They are reversible. You can install right-to-left or left-to-right so put the power at either end.
@handydadtv I have exposed beams/trusses as shown at 5:58 in your video. If that is your home or if you happen to know, what type of brackets are used there to keep the LED portion of the cable at a relatively consistent distance away from the building material? Great video BTW!
Not mine, sorry. I’ve seen people use wood, vinyl, and even metal studs. Go on Reddit /r/Govee for lots of ideas and to ask questions.
I don’t want you to take down your lights, but yes the Pros can be tuned to exact white color you need.
Do you know if you can make a three way split with the pro lights? I have an outlet under my eve in the middle of my house. Ideally I would put in a splitter at the outlet and have one strand going left and one going right. Any thoughts or suggestions?
I would think it would be something similar to what they use for trailer wiring…but you would have to water proof it yourself
I would only do that if I had the exact same length strings in both directions and I intentionally wanted them to be mirrored.
It would be best to find a power source near one end and use them as intended.
I made a new video to show you can split the strings but it might not produce the results you expect: ua-cam.com/video/zhqqC9orh0s/v-deo.html
Great video. I wish there was a way to buy just extenders for the original kit.
A soldering iron would be cheaper.
Are you able to selectively turn on and off individual lights? For times you just want to accent your home and not have it look like holiday lights. Thanks
Yes indeed.
When will extensions be available as an accessory? I need 11 separate sections and the pro kit doesn’t give me enough to complete my house.
They haven’t said.
Have an idea for installing these on the side of the house, where only an inch overhangs from the shingles?
Have a 3D printer? www.thingiverse.com/thing:6301707

Yes, they both use the same connector.
Great video! Do you recommend place the light 2 or 4 inches away from the wall?
It’s a personal decision, so either would work fine. But I prefer closer.

I don't like how big the splice connector is. I'll stick with my old version and cutting wires and using solder sticks butt connects it's smaller and water proof. Thanks for the video
My pleasure!
If you painted to match, you’re better off. And yes, they are bulky. Needed to be “goof proof”.
Agreed 100% on all fronts there, we painted my parents' strings brown to match just last week as well...
@freddy7620 They could really simplify the painting process by shipping with disposable lens covers so you don’t need to mask them all.
I want to install these with the 3m tape (no screws) because it's a rental apartment. Because of the building material, the tape will stick better if the lights are installed points forward instead of down. Do you think it will look bad with the lights pointing forward (away from the building)? : )
Don’t waste your money. The adhesive is only temporary. You need physical clips to hold them up long term.
Permanent lights? What’s the warranty and how good would they honor it, or how good would customer service be? What would the typical life expectancy be? And finally, what do you do if 1 light burns out?
They have a 30-day return policy and a 12-month warranty. If a bulb fails outside of warranty, it can be cut out and replaced.
Slight oversight - should have put the cable writing on the other side
Dedicated whites make a huge difference for daily use.
I noticed the writing. I wonder if someone got fired for that goof.
Great videos👍. I thinking purchasing these lights but can you attach them to stucco?
Yes, but you won’t be able to use any of the 3M adhesives and it’ll be a major pain to drive tiny screws in their clips while holding onto a ladder if you can’t stick them up first. Not impossible, but hard.
My opinion is you should consider permanent lights with channels, like these ua-cam.com/video/WjlweVd7MZc/v-deo.html.
Perhaps next yr , love the idea of them , will see if I can get my hands on some next season. Thanks for the video.
Set a reminder to get them in October during Amazon Prime Days while they are still in stock.
@@handydadtv Thanks for the info and video , much appreciated!
Prime day is actually this month and the day I’m waiting for to buy the pros!
That splicing connector looks bulky. Do they give you a puck to strap that down as well? How do you recommend holding that against the eves?
A clip on each of the wires in and out is typical.
I'm curious if you could tell me how long each of those 3 included extensions are?
The long one is 5 meters. The short ones are 2 meters.
Is it possible to splice a cable and put a cap on using the added equipment they provide or is it purely just to extend it to another cable?
You can terminate a string with half of the splicing kit, but it's also fine to cut the wire, separate them, and enclose the ends with a little hot glue.
Shopping on Prime Day and found your review to help - loved it! I want the Pros - just need to convince my better half they're worth the extra coin! haha!

I wonder I’d you could use the as patio lights as well?
For sure. Check out the channel: JB’s DIY TV. He did some around a gazebo on a patio.
Hi just wondering can you get original in black and can I get them delivered to Ireland ☘️.. thanks..
Only the Pros come in black. I don’t know if they’re available in Ireland. Sorry.
@@handydadtv yeah nothing painted. It's a thin metal but a metal surface. I'd just be using the 3M tape that comes with it.
@Eccentech Many tell me the tape is only for temporary positioning. The clips aren’t optional.
I will be using the splice kits on the Pro version and then using the extension wire to the next eave. Do I need to use the cut off lights after the extension or can I just plug the next string of lights in?
I’d just start with a new string. Use the cut-offs only if you need them. Save them for replacement when needed.
I like everything about the pro more except the space apart between the lights. The original has a good spacing so you get a continuous light stream casted as opposed to the pro.
On the house, you’d never notice the difference unless you saw them side by side.
I wonder if you can swap the controller and make the old lights “matter enabled”. Or if you can mix and match old with new.
No, they’re not compatible.
About to use your link to buy the pro. Quick question if I have a 2 story house and want the first and second floor to come together do you just have 1 wire splice into 2 wires. Does that work with these ?
You would use an extension to connect from the first floor to the second.
How would you do two story house ??? I don’t have a two story but I do have a peak roof line I’d like to hook up all together…..
The kits include extension cables that are long enough to bridge from one floor to another.

It really does make sense for them to have two different kinds of products. Marketing likely told them to call it Pro to sell more, just think that was a mistake. The two products perform differently and serve different purposes, they should be called that accordingly; like Govee Outdoor Seasonal and Govee Outdoor Illumination
Mine just showed up today. How do I know if I got the regular or the pro?

ua-cam.com/video/4S5zFCDrHAI/v-deo.html
Can you buy the splicing gadget separately and will it work on the old set?
No, and no.
You should! And record it! I’ll pay you for the video.
@@handydadtv Hi, thanks for your revue again. I shot you an email, I’m sure you will recognize the address it comes from. As for the HomeKit video, I’m sure we can work something out.
200 feet max. You’d need multiple to do longer.
First off this is a great video and helped me decide which to purchase. So thank you for that. Second, have you thought of an option for these to be used temporarily on the roof for around Christmas?
I am considering doing that. I’d use vinyl J-channel to hold the lights and secure it with magnets so I could put it up and down easily.

Could you tell me how thick the individual lights are? I have been trying to find that spec before buying these.
The originals are 15mm thick and the PROs are 17mm thick.
Thank you so much. I couldn't find that info anywhere
Are you going to combine these with your setup from last year? Wondering if there is a way to sink scenes.

I was looking to install this lights 14" apart and conceal the loose wire.
Have you seen like this set up before?
The reason for is i bought 100ft and am only needing around 78ft and instead of cutting the excess lights I just rather compress each light for few inches to get used most out of it.
What is your thought on this?
