      Thank you for watching and fair point! I can’t help it, these companies just keep coming out with cooler and cooler bags, going to have to start adding “for now” in the title as well 😂😂

    I bought and returned two of the 26l versions in ripstop. They were full of loose threads and some of the stitching on the shoulder straps was so loose there were actually thread loops coming out. Goruck’s QC for their MIUSA bags is an absolute joke.

    I watched a number of reviews about comparable backpacks and ordered some, but returned them all. I find myself always go back to my North Face Recon and Borealis OS. They're my favorite, dependable, comfortable, and most versatile backpacks. Looks good as well.

      Thank you for watching and glad to hear the recon and borealis have worked out well, I’ve always been impressed with how capable those bags are!

      Unlike the Borealis, the Recon's false bottom was only around 1 inch from the bottom of the backpack, but protected by the outer hard shell. I cut a pool noodle to size - the width of the laptop sleeve, then slide it in half and put it on the bottom of the laptop sleeve, and remedied the issue.@@dannypacks

      no clamshell though. i still use my north face microbyte because i love the slim profile and clamshell is just so useful for packing. but it's been discontinued. i wish there was a slim clamshell bag like it with a little more capacity, hence why i'm looking into the gr1 right now. the 5.5 inch depth is perfect i don't wanna go beyond that and bump people in public transport and all.

    Per gorucks website, the speed grey has the all robic back panel and straps where as the earth color for example has the normal 210D for the back panel and straps. Which material do you find to be most comfortable for the straps and back panel?

    Danny, always love your reviews. Have you seen the condor prime 21 L pack? It is a go ruck style pack at a much more affordable price point. Would love to get your thoughts on that one.

    i wish companys would start doing more confortable yoke style harnesses similar to the HPG Tarahumara or what the og mystery ranch packs offered.
    I own a coupple of gorucks and their straps seem to press onto some nervs in my neck, so i get headaches after 30 minutes wearing them. even though they are thickly padded, to me they are some of the most uncomfortable i used period.
    same for all those simple straps that often are to closely placed and when loaded they barely fit around my neck.
    The yoke style harnesses also do much much much better weight distributon even when they arent padded, so the bag looks more streamlined when off body and also save some weight.
    i see that those harnesses are more sophisticated to sew, but still i would like to have the option at least as a costlier alternative or as an exchangable accessory

    Such a great review of the ripstop gr1. How is the feel of the material compared to the Evergoods cpl24? Also are the straps slippery?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  2 місяці тому +1

      Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! The material doesn’t feel quite as robust as the 840d that the Cpl and the straps feel a little slipper but it’s still been comfortable to wear the bag overall in my opinion

    This is the GR1 I always wanted, I do find the robic nylon a better material for every day, broken in and not too rigid and boxy. Keeps the shoulder molle, adds the quick access pocket, and high vis interior. I'd have kept the front molle personally but not a huge deal for me. Still waiting for mine to arrive but I think these new robic bags are a winner. Thanks for the sneak peek. :)
    Pricing does seem odd, I wonder how 420d compares to 1000d price wise? Cost of adding the QAP on US wages perhaps? IF SCARS still offered QAP as a modification I bet this would be considerably cheaper than buying a 1000d bag and having them do it at least. Regardless I'm willing to pay it for my ideal GR1.

      Thank you for watching and hope you enjoy using the bag ad much as I have! The higher price is unfortunate but I agree, if I didn’t have a gr1 I would have definitely grabbed this one

    Hey Danny, enjoyed the review! Between this bag in nylon, the dynema, and XPAC, which fabric do you like the most? The most practical? Durable?

    • @dannypacks
      @dannypacks  7 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! Definitely a tough choice and one caveat is I haven’t used the gr1 in xpac so I can’t speak to the isssues with the zippers people had. I really like the dyneema and it feels more durable with the ripstop but it does have quite a crinkly sound and the corners take some time to break in, I feel like xpac will provide some additional weather resistance and in theory I like that it doesn’t have the rain flaps since it has the aqua guard, but so far my favorite is probably the ripstop as it has the most subdued look, it’s pretty light and still offers a nice amount of weather resistance and I like that it’s not quite as rigid so the bag just feels broken in right out of the box

    This robic nylon seems different from the new bullets and m23 🤔 seems more slick

      Thank you for watching and good question! For me I do prefer this simpler layout for edc and I like the wider straps of the GR1 as well
