I have been running that oil filter for a month now and it’s absolutely the best.
Great to hear!
Lol. You know this after a month, come on.
@@derfskittlers6125no kidding! Tell me after 5 years and 30,000 miles if it’s still “awesome”. Lol
I have this on my 08 Ultra. It definitely is the best oil filter. It does lower Engine temperature. But only by about 20 degrees. Definitely worth the price. It also increases horse power and torque and gas mileage 🤙
Thanks for commenting and sharing your experience! That’s great to hear!! Mine has been great as well!
I have this oil cooler on my 2014 Softail with a 124”. It does NOT lower temps by 40 degrees! It lowered my higher temps by 20 degrees. My bike hit 270 when run hard on hot days. Now it stays at 250 degrees. I really only see an actual benefit on very hot days in the city during stop and go traffic. I also live in Canada and our temps don’t get anywhere near as hot as southern states.
Hello! Thanks for sharing your experience! Down here in Houston it was 108 with the heat index today… lol.
@@2147crew hottest we see is 93 and maybe a couple weeks worth in the summer. Lol
Thanks for the info, you definitely need that and it wouldn’t hurt anyone else to have it either
Hi Tiff! Agreed! As always, thank you for watching and commenting!
I have a 2014 Fatboy lo fitted with Coolmaster love Jugs also 10 row non fan assisted oil cooler and external breather,my bike now runs within the temperature Harley Davidson says they should be,the Love Jugs whilst not that attractive are the most effective at lowering the temperature the external breather and oil cooler help but no where near as the love jugs,i live in Western Australia where it's hot and i can monitor my temps via my V&H FP3 fuel i put the oil cooler and external breather post the love jugs and while they have lowered the temperature the love jugs did a lot better job
Hello! That is a nice set up! In have a set of love jugs that I haven’t installed yet. I might install them as well. Thanks for commenting!
Just going to add my two cents per say, I do engine testing for Ford as a career and I can say those mesh stainless oil filters do NOT filter like a paper or synthetic media does at all! The reason race teams use them is because they do races at high RPM’s and they need good oil flow. There is no way in hell I would use one of those in a bike you ride for 3-5k. But hey what do I know right.
Hello, thank you for your input.
My mechanic explained the permanent filters when obstructed or plugged will not allow for oil to bypass well. The Harley oil filter was designed to do this and does it well. Aftermarket permanent filters do not reliably perform the oil bypass, if, at all, when it might be required.
The poor grass, man, you are killing the grass. (This is not a serious comment about the grass.) Ok, this looks like a pretty slick setup. Thanks for the video.
Thank you! That’s more like the weeds area… lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!
That's a lot of work ! I'll use paper filter ! WIX ! Your running a performance engine so it will run hotter ! Brother you all the help for heat !
Have been looking this same product from DK Customs. Not a bad idea. Was nice meeting you at the track in Knoxville by the way.
Hi! Same here! Glad we met at the track. Being at the track is what encouraged me to make this video. Hope to see you again soon!
@2147crew yessir. Two wheels down my guy.
I added the DK Customs remote oil filter set up for my road glide and added the flo filter to it. Sure does make oil changes a lot easier and the filter keeps the oil about 8-10 degrees cooler. The kit is a nuisance to install but mine has been working great for years. Here’s a tip. The oil line DK includes is inferior and will rub through pretty quickly. I bought high pressure fuel line that has steel mesh inside instead of what’s in the regular line DK sends. I wrapped it in plastic mesh and covered that with plastic wire loom, wire tied it TIGHT and I don’t have to worry about it rubbing through like the line DK sent did after only about 1K miles. The high pressure fuel line I got from Jeggs is pricey but so are motors. I think I paid $75 for six feet.
Just ordered the Ultracool and Flo filter for 2019 Street Glide w Chopped Guard. I’ll be able to see the temperature difference using my Powervision. Getting about 311F rear head cylinder temperature now w stage 2. I’ll post update on temp readings after install. Thanks for discount code.
Awesome! Thank you!!
Looks like a great set of products. Thanks for sharing. 👊👍✌️
Thanks!
So cool to see how far you’ve come keep it up
Hi bro! Thank you! Greatly Appreciate it!
@@2147crew you’re crushing it
@@Jack-b5o6r thank you!
The bike sounds monstrous. 💪🏽💯👑
Many thanks my bro!
Cycle Solutions sells a similar cleanable / reusable oil filter. They have 3 sizes of their "oil filter/cooler". I suppose the longest one would perform the best at cooling engine oil due to its larger surface area. The largest one fits with no clearance issues on my RGS.
Yes. I’ve seen it. They work well also.
Stock it was fine, but the more I have built out the engine the more I notice the heat coming off it. I bit the bullet and ordered a cooler and filter last night. Getting ready for the summer stop and go in the city.
Hello. The more you build it up. The more gear it’ll create. No issues with mine. Enjoy it.
This oil cooler works 40 degrees cooler down south it’s hot this cooler is worth every penny
Hello! Great to hear and agreed! I’m in Houston. Has made me not worry about my engine overheating. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Keep growing bro!
Thank you my brother!
Thank you for the video! Great info & will check it out
Hi bro! Thank you! I know you guys ride a lot.
Thanks for the info, Ben thinking about the oil filter
Your most welcomed! A definite must. You get an inside look of how your engine is doing.
Thanks for the info. Ordering a flo tonight.
Great! Your gonna like it! I went with the all black option.
No way this will lower temps 50-60 degrees.
Sitting at prolonged idle it would definitely help but the fans don't do much over about 30 mph.
That flo filter is legit.
If you think any disposable filter. Even K&N.
That flo filter will pay for itself after 4-5 oil changes.
.
You need that magnet because that filter isn't optimal. FortNine channel tests filters and paper does the best job. I know that's hard to hear and may create some dissonance. AND race oil is changed a lot more frequently so that filter makes sense due to the convenience. So that MAY work for you but not most people running baggers.
Hello! Thank you for sharing the information. I’ll check them out. Nonetheless, good information. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Right, that aftermarket metal mesh filter should not even be in a Briggs & Stratton engine. keep the paper mesh!
Excellent video
Thank you bro!
My friend has this on his RG… He swears by it…
Hi bro! I second that all day! Runs smoother and better. No doubt. Also, I have 2 Saddlesore challenges on this bike. No issues with heat. Def. Recommended it bro. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Reason racing teams use them is bc they change their oil every race, not 4-5k miles. I’m sure it flows a lot better, but the test show they fail miserably compared to even OEM filters.
Thanks for sharing the info! I change mine every 2k ish. Depending on the race, they sure do put a lot of wear on those engines. Lol. Thanks again for commenting!
How does this filter effect oil pressure? Higher or lower
Part's clear.
Hello! It’s a good product.
@@2147crew yes it look like a great item . All I'm saying is to use a parts cleaner .
I like the filter but don’t the cooler blow the heat on your leg
Standard WIX filter is 20 microns. My problem with thetype you can clean is are you really getting the trash out of the mesh? If you had an ultrasonic cleaner maybe. And if it filter so much smaller particals what happens if it gets clogged? Is there a by pass and what is releaf pressure.
Hello, thanks for commenting! Good point. I’ll look into that on my next oil change.
If a magnet on an oil filter attracts “metal”, where is the metal coming from?
Good information
Thanks!
I can get behind that.
Nice!
Once I move up to that Trask I need this my man!!
35 micron is a very poor filtration, if you’re racing and changing oil every race it’s ok but not 5k miles between oil changes.
How much more oil did it take after you put kit on.
The same amount.
Won't 35 micron filter let over 3x bigger particles through
Yes
Did you say you have gauges that show oil actual temp and CHTs?
Hi, I don’t have the gauges installed. But on second thought. I might have some installed. Thanks!
What temps are you seeing on your power Vision tuner with the ultracooler??? I’ve got the Harley oil cooler fan and the ultracool and still seeing 300+ on the Powervision for engine temp.
Hello! I have a Thundermax tuner. What engine are you running? Not sure how powervision checks the temperature. But if the engine oil temp doesn’t pass 210 the fans don’t turn on. Hope this helps!
@@2147crew I’m running a 131 full build hitting 157hp/162ft-lbs. temp reading off power vision is the engine temp from the Harley vehicle sensor. Oil temp has been doing well with the ultracooler installed (great product) but trying to see what others are seeing with temps and there’s just not a lot of info out there on the 131 actual temps.
@@Kcarver_77 got ya! Great build and numbers by the way! I have two 131’s the naturally aspirated one is getting the oil cooler and flo oil filter once the build is done.
@@2147crew considering dropping the coin on another dyno tune from a. Different shop to compare what I’m seeing between the current dyno tune and another reputable shop’s tune. First Harley and don’t know what to expect. Came off a Rocket 3 Roadster
@@Kcarver_77 that’s a good idea. Wouldn’t hurt.
I need to order right now lol
Yes, sir! No doubt about it!
Micron is a unit of size. 35 micron is a larger hole than 10. That means it allows larger particles through. This is not good for the engine. It's worse.
Brake Fluid is Nasty and Expensive. I noticed you actually used brake cleaner spray ..
Why not just wash it in Mineral Spirits or Kerosene or Disel fuel?
35 Microns does not catch small particles.. 10 Microns is a lot finer filter element which does a better job.. than a 35 micron filter. Bi- pass filters can be made to filter finer yet.
Heavy duty Diesels will use two Filters .. a Full flow 30 micron filter and a 5 micron bi-pass filter.
Bi-pass means it has a spring loaded valve that will bi-pass the oil when the filter is clogged full of carbon and sediment .. or cold oil that is too thick to flow fast enough ..through the filter..
Hello! Thank you for the information! Really appreciate it! Originally brake cleaner is what I meant to say. The other fluids you mentioned can also be used. I just had brake cleaner available.
That sounds like a truck ❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
That is alot of metal in there.
😎thanks for watching!
Its prbably his company
Why would you want to clean that dirty nasty filter every time. This makes no sense. There’s no way that’s worth all that work for a couple of degrees
You want yer oil over 210 degrees F to boil out any water, if not at least 210 you will build up a bunch of water that will settle to the bottom of the tank - bad news . 60 degrees is way too much. Leave it be. this is why people have problems with Harleys, they are always adding junk not needed on em!
Hello. Thanks for commenting and sharing your information.
You should wear gloves. Brake cleaner is highly toxic!
Brake cleaner on your hands?!!! Big no no guys. Wear your gloves!
Hello! Thanks for commenting! I need to get me some gloves. Thanks for the advice!
“Mandatory option” is an oxymoron
