I liked the fact Mario praised Joe's without hesitation as if he knows that New York is vastly big enough for the both of them. He seemed to realize that there's no reason to compete with a staple of NYC pizza in a city so big. His main selling point is selling ingredients, pizzas, and recipes. Gold is completely inert so it wouldn't poison you. It just passes through without being broken down. There's no purpose to it other than to show how rich you are though. It has no taste. Pay attention to that they finished the first two pizza places very quickly and was satifyed, while when they ate the 24K you could see they didn't even enjoy the single slices they took...
for pizza yes for main dishes the most expensive one i do is 100$ consists of salad, marinate, wild boar meat freshly caught "in my country the wild boar population is hard to control and it takes a week to prepare and examine if its acceptable to eat" and for example boiled potatoes with deferent cheeses. im one of those kinds of cooks who prefer to give ya great taste but also feed you well
Ever since this episode, I’ve wanted to try Joe’s pizza. It truly does look like the perfect slice. And I live in NJ, right near NYC, so I knew I could try it. But I could never find the place! I finally found it recently, and every slice looks as delicious as the slices that they show here, the ones that caused me to look for this restaurant for years. And the pizza is so, so, so good!
I live down by the shore and I’ve always wanted to venture up just to try a slice of joes and something from eatily but it’s kind of a long trip just for some slices and there’s no other reason for me to go into the city rn :/ it’s definitely on my bucket list though
The most telling thing about the gold pizza was how little Steven and Andrew actually talked about it. Usually they have positive things to say even if the food is ridiculously expensive. But here the most you got was a mention that the cheese was creamy. Then they spend most of the time talking about the gold and how eating the pizza makes them feel like a Bond villain. It's like they were trying to find any excuse not to talk about what it actually tastes like.
Joe’s pizza was so good when I tried it. Definitely the best NY slice I have ever had, probably the best pizza I have ever had. That 24k gold pizza did not look good, they just made it flashy but didn’t care about taste.
No offense but I think he gets annoying after some time. Also the justification of the burn didn't really get me to believe him, sure you can't avoid the pizza getting burnt but eating the burns can get u you to develop cancer if I recall correctly. Might be a fun guy to work with though , maybe relax others under the pressure of work
You can tell they didn't like it from their expressions and how they kept mentioning its price and the fact it has gold but very little about the actual pizza.

Yeah, when "I have no self control" suddenly says "I'm not going to eat it all anyway" you know he didn't like it. Steve's usually pouring compliments at that point, but all he did was talk about how expensive it was. As in...not worth it. Every time he bites into the pizza, it looks like he's wincing in pain. To be fair, it looks like MAYBE some of the crew liked it though, again going by facial expressions.

When I was in NYC I stumbled uponed Joe’s pizza after a drunk night. Me and friend asked if they were the pizza joint from worth it and they said yes and started taking pictures with us. They are a frat bunch of people. And the pizza is the difinitive new York slice.

The most telling thing about the gold pizza was how little Steven and Andrew actually talked about it. Usually they have positive things to say even if the food is ridiculously expensive. But here the most you got was a mention that the cheese was creamy. Then they spend most of the time talking about the gold and how eating the pizza makes them feel like a Bond villain. It's like they were trying to find any excuse not to talk about what it actually tastes like.

Joe’s pizza was so good when I tried it. Definitely the best NY slice I have ever had, probably the best pizza I have ever had. That 24k gold pizza did not look good, they just made it flashy but didn’t care about taste.

Yeah, when "I have no self control" suddenly says "I'm not going to eat it all anyway" you know he didn't like it. Steve's usually pouring compliments at that point, but all he did was talk about how expensive it was. As in...not worth it. Every time he bites into the pizza, it looks like he's wincing in pain.
To be fair, it looks like MAYBE some of the crew liked it though, again going by facial expressions.

I love how Mario Batali points out that Joe’s is a good slice and should not be excluded from the party. He understands that it’s not traditional Italian pizza, but it’s still wonderful and tasty nonetheless. American pizza is incredibly different from Italian pizza, but both are delicious and there’s room for both in this world
