Linda Licata What I find amazing is that a straight up horror film had even a chance of winning actress/supporting actress Oscar awards like holy shit - that is how you know it is not only a classic, but legendary.
Early in the nomination period, Linda's name was brought up. But, her stunt double claimed that she did most of the work with the prosthetics and some of the scenes that were more rough. The nomination deadline was too close for them to verify by going back through records showing who did which scenes. My understanding is that the double only did the spider crawl down the stairs, which was cut from the original release.
Linda Blair suffered in the years after the movie w/ harassment, death threats, stalking and caught w drugs ruining her acting career. Someone should have taken more care of her !
I know we cant change the past. But Linda’s performance was worthy of an Oscar. Some say its because she didn’t voiced Pazuzu it was Mercedes McCambridge. Then why Rami Malek won????
i don't think they had rami malek back then, but linda blair was a servicible actress who friedkin and his crew built around. she was well cast, and had admirable indurance, but she didn't do amything oscar worthy. anybody who thinks she did is under the spell of movie magic.
Rami Malek did do some of the vocals for Bohemian Rhapsody. They blended his vocals with Freddie Mercury’s so it sounded more believable and not just the lifted studio track. I get what you are saying though. For Linda to have the courage to step into that role, to have made such an impact and taken on the physical and mental challenges of the role she should be recognized for it. Perhaps an honorary Oscar or a Special Achievement Award.
I've seen this movie twice in theaters. First time I wanted to smack the row of kids ahead of me watching and laughing. I say kids, even though I was barely over 20 in the 2000 re-release. Thankfully a anniversary showing years later went much better.
Kay Lenz was reportedly up for the role. She probably would have been as good as Linda, but we will never know. Linda was superb. Mercedes McCambridge was in another stratosphere.
Rita Morzouq Absolutely agree - have you seen the documentary about Linda’s life directly after the film? I don’t remember what it’s called, but what she went through as a child was so sad. If this film was made in our time of film rather than 1973, the shit her and her family went through would never have happened. Ellen is a different story though because she already had an established career and did not play a person possessed by a demon (back in 1973 especially like I said previously). From what I have gathered, Linda enjoyed acting, but was never given the chance for another serious role because of the ignorance and useless hatred and the media didn’t exactly help either.
@Emily Carter What are you talking about, if this film was made in our time, the shit her and her family went through would never have happened??? LOL! Yeah, because people today are just so sane and rational . . . Seriously, shut up! . You are the people that go out on your stupid marches of solidarity because you can't tolerate not getting your way. Lol! I think the movie is hardcore and lasting because it was made in 1973. Today it would be a bunch of CGI and the priests doing flying kicks with cheesy one liners. She was never given the chance for another serious role? What???? You are clearly writing from lack of knowledge. She was in "Born Innocent," which is very good drama that was an extremely controversial TV movie put out by NBC in 1974. She was in "Sarah T: Portrait of a Teenage Alcoholic" 1975 and does a convincing job playing those scenes. She ended up making some poor choices at the time which caused her a fall. She made bad movie choices too that hurt her career too. She seemed to not take that part too seriously as if her living life was more important than her acting career. Weird that Ellen Burstyn is positive about Blair now because in the past she was quoted saying that she was not impressed with her when she screen tested.
MontcomHorror Lol no I just never imagined someone could get so butthurt and angry over an innocuous UA-cam comment. What a snowflake sorry for triggering you, bro 😂😂😂😂
Linda Blair should’ve won the Academy Award for supporting actress and Ms Burstyn 💯 % should have won for lead. She should be a 3x Oscar winner for lead actress in my opinion (The Exorcist, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore & Requiem for a Dream).
Because they're bright enough to know that it is only a movie. It is not reality. Linda is not really possessed. There are make up people. There are special effects. They're not like the people on the street who think Linda was all messed up from it. I work in the industry and know what it is like from the other side. People who work in film laugh at comments like this. Good grief you do know this is not real.. Right?
I watched for the first time when I was 10, with my mom. I fell in love with this movie right away... the effects, the makeup, the story, everything was so interesting to me. My favorite movie ever.
Jared Kushner owning the 666 Fifth Avenue building and the Trumps’ atheism were revealed a long time ago. I wouldn’t put it past The Nude Melania K. to have posed self-pleasuring with a crucifix.
wow!! The building was 666..thats pretty incredible!! My favorite movie of all time..Linda was a very mature girl for her age..she should of won the Oscar, not only for her performance but for what she went through at 13..not many girls could handle that..can you imagine now a 13 yr old girl stabbing herself in the crotch with a crucifix in film...not gonna happen..ahead of its time this movie was
To this day I honestly think that all the terrible things and deaths that happened on the set and to people involved was not the Devils work as everyone thought? It pissed god off !
After everything that has come out about Hollywood and the entertainment industry in very recent years, you see these movies and things like this guy is saying in a completely new light. Those people are very sick.
It’s funny that you guys cut out when Friedkin asked Linda “have you ever masterbated?” to which she replied “sure haven’t you?” Friedkin said that every single other time he told this story over the years

Linda Blair was so young in that movie. She did a fantastic job!
Shrink : "How old are you ?"
Regan : "Twelve"
She actually tells her age in the movie.
She deserved the Oscar.
@@SiddharthSinghFiery69 I thought Linda was 14 during filming?
@@blorkpovud1576 yes I think she was. I watched the making of the film and I seem to recall them mentioning that she was indeed really 14.
She did. Ellen Burstyn was excellent as well.
No one could have done a better job then Linda Blair. She should have won the Oscar, not Tatum O'Neal!
Linda Licata What I find amazing is that a straight up horror film had even a chance of winning actress/supporting actress Oscar awards like holy shit - that is how you know it is not only a classic, but legendary.
I totally agree. What Linda achieved in that role , bringing that Monster to life on film. If that's not Oscar worthy. I don't know what is.
you may be right.

One of my most beloved movies, The Exorcist, I can’t get enough of watching this movie. So many nights I fell asleep with this piece of art.
Linda Blair suffered in the years after the movie w/ harassment, death threats, stalking and caught w drugs ruining her acting career. Someone should have taken more care of her !
One thing about child actors is that being taken care of seems to be the last thing people's minds 😠
Sorry but she did not mature into a good actress and she chose several bad films to star in , she ruined her own career!
She didn't really want to be in acting in the first place, she wanted to be a veterinarian.
Yeah. Because people are fucking stupid. They think she is actually the devil.
It all added to her popularity!! Get a grip!! …The movie made her tons of money! Going forward!
Btw Linda’s parent are chill and dope af I saw a clip of an interview with them and Linda.
It would have been nice to see this complete interview instead of only 3 minutes and 42 seconds.
I love his voice I’m not sure if this is a popular opinion or not. His voice made the DVD commentary fucking epic.
He sounds like Donald Trump

linda blair says he didn't even have that conversation with her, he had it with another actress who auditioned.
Anissa Jones would have done a great job also, but was unfairly tycast by the industry. Linda did a great job though. R.i.p. Anissa.
