I just got my new INT 650 a month ago. It’s been cold so I’ve been spending my time getting the bike ready. I don’t regret my purchase but I can see now why the bike is so inexpensive. Instruments fog up, ignition switch is sloppy/unreliable, foot controls are loose, etc. I’m glad I have the time and space as I can see this as an endless project. I’m not complaining.

Couldn’t you get a shim to fit in the original bushing?

Yes, I could. Often a soft drink can or beer tin metal is ok for shims on many things, I find. But it’s just more of the same, isn’t it? It’s really dealing with a symptom, rather than sorting out the cause, I think, hence trying out this idea of a bearing. Also, the internal bush wear is not actually even, I noticed…it’s more pronounced at the edges and not in the middle which means a shim wouldn’t really cure it as nicely as I’d like. It may be that this idea of a bearing simply doesn’t work and if it doesn’t, I’ll post to that effect. But I think caged needle roller bearing will eliminate the waggle and lead to more precise gear changes and feel nicer….nice crisp gearchanges. That’s the theory!

Having viewed all your videos, except for the paint job and seat, they really demonstrate the shortcomings in the quality of many components on the Interceptor!

@@ultimateoutdoors4659 yes, I would agree but….in mitigation……..they’re inexpensive bikes, aren’t they? Here in the U.K. they cost only about 30% more than a Japanese 125cc maxi-scooter and certainly a lot less than a Japanese 650cc or thereabouts. There is reason for that, I suppose…..cheap parts etc. One can’t have it both ways, I think and, looking on the bright side, at least these issues are all resolvable. I’m enjoying the process, tbh. And it’s such a nice bike to ride, I find, after 4 decades of British bikes (at the start) and then Japanese super bikes.

@@internetpolification posted some information on one of your videos about the oil filter. Found an alternative to the OC 1600 via Mahle Aftermarket. Did you see my inormation? Did you take down your original video about the filter?

@@ultimateoutdoors4659 no! I took it down as the motor factors stopped dealing with Mahle. I didn’t see your information. Could you repost please?

Yes. True. I’ve received the new gearchange lever from India today, after only 6 days from ordering. Genuine RE spare part but the lever has no ‘bush’ in it. Same internal diameter but just bare metal. I’ve taken it to a local engineering shop to have the diameter of the hole increased to 20mm for the bearing
