      They literally do make them this, and then some. Comedy, drama, action, suspense...all made today. Perhaps not with a 90s sense of humor because, well, that is how time works. Every year, every possible type of movie is made.

      I disagree. No they do not make action movies like this anymore. Now at days there is too much use of CGI when it's not even necessary. Plus, when this movie came out it was the great generation of movie stars. Much like how SNL went down in quality into the 2000's, in my opinion, so did the quality of talent. In front of and behind the camera. To me, older movies are just way better. Maybe I'm biased, but so is everyone else, whether they admit it or not.

    This movie came out before “Miss Congeniality”. In fact, this was Sandra Bullock’s first high profile movie role. She got the part at the last minute when another actress left the project and had to work up the character in just a couple of days.
    Another similar recommendation would be “Judge Dredd”. Came out not long after this and starred Stallone and Rob Schneider (the receptionist at police headquarters). They make a pretty good comic duo, even though the story is set in another post-apocalyptic world.

He seemed like he really wanted to accomplish what he wanted to accomplish, and not just goofing around like some of the other characters. The crazy part about Taco Bell and this movie was they had a tie in for the film. There were Demolition Man Taco Bell commercials on TV I remember seeing. That's unheard of, any fast food chain having merchandise or a tie in to an R-Rated action movie. To put it into perspective, the last time anything close to that happened was when McDonalds had a happy meal based on Batman Returns, the one where Tim Burton was cut loose on and was at his Tim Burtonist, HARD PG-13. It literally made the studio go in the opposite direction for the next 2 Batman movies, going super kid friendly and campy. Funny you mentioned the Batman and Joker vibe from this movie, even when I was little and saw this, it felt like a slightly more violent Batman vs the Joker story. Also the score from the movie was done by Elliot Goldsmith who went on the score the Batman Returns/Batman and Robin movie's, so it sounds like a 90's era Batman flick too

    The big issue with this premise and others like it is that prison labor is a massive industry in the US. Frozen inmates can't work.

    • @douglascampbell9809
      @douglascampbell9809 2 роки тому

      We have 2.1 million people behind bars right now so the US is spending $5.21 Billion to $105 Billion a year to house prisoners.
      I can guarantee you they are not providing that kind of revenue by working while in prison.
      Prison labor is mostly used to offset the costs of operating the prison.
      You cut out feeding them, providing medical care, water usage, damage to personal and the facility it's a lot more efficient and cheaper.
      Not that you can freeze cells without the water in them bursting the cell structure.

    • @michaellacy3699
      @michaellacy3699 2 роки тому +2

      @@douglascampbell9809 approximately 60% of prisoners in the US work, so that's 1.26M slaves. In order to defray the prison industry's 105B budget, each person would need to generate $833 worth of goods or services in a year. I'm guessing that happens several times per week. Because it's not about the actual revenue prison labor generates, it's about the value of the work done.

    Actually, cryostasis would be cheaper than conventional prisons. Think about it: The prisoners don't eat, don't drink, don't require daily exercise, don't need guards watching them 24/7... conventional prison costs an average of $33,000 per year per inmate. With more than a million inmates currently in prison, that works out to more than $40 billion per year. BUT... we haven't even come close to being able to freeze someone yet. See, when the water in the cells freezes, it forms ice crystals, which punctures cell walls. In other words, if you thaw them out, they'd die. First, we've got to figure out how to freeze (and thaw) someone without killing them.

    The reason why the cryo prison could get away with having the password be something simple like “Teddy Bear” is that violent criminals at their parole hearing, much less the parole board, would be highly unlikely to say “Teddy Bear” during the proceedings.
