    My dad and I built two of your Queens 9 years ago. One was for me, one for their guest bedroom. Now one is my sister's and one is my grandma's. They are still tanks. I'm looking to build one for my daughter now, this'll be it.
    Really appreciate you sharing this design. These beds have kind of become a fixture in my family.

    This is a very nice build. To make moving easier, though, I would suggest that instead of using screws to put sides on, you could drill holes and bolt it on. The bolt heads should be more esthetic as well as a bonus.

    Thank you so much for showing us your process. I currently have an antique bed that I love, but the side rails have fallen off and I worried that I wasn't going to be able to do anything about it. But after watching your video, I am thinking that it should not be too difficult to make new side boards to fit the current headboard and footboard onto. I am going to thoroughly check out the wood stock that makes up the current sideboards to see if they can be retooled and still be usable as they are really thick and beautiful. Blessings to you always.

      I've used thick coats of indoor trim paint. Because the wood I use is far from top quality, the extra thick coats of paint hide a bunch of the imperfections.

    Today I finished making this full-sized bedframe. Solid and sturdy as a rock. Followed all board sizes to perfection according to the instructions on this video. Exactly. The only problem is the bedframe is too small and too tight for my new Sealy in a box full sized memory foam mattress. I had to squeeze it into the frame. Won't work for us. A waste of money and much time. What a shame because I really liked this bedframe.

    • @1964cht
      @1964cht  6 місяців тому

      I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I went by measurements online of a full mattress. 54" x 74". my granddaughter's mattress fits perfectly. would love to know the measurement of your mattress.

    • @gatorman538
      @gatorman538 6 місяців тому

      On the Wayfair website, it states that the dimensions of the full sized mattress is 54" wide by 75" long. Even that is too tight into the bedframe. After the bed in a box "puffed out" to it's full size, it is actually 54 1/2" x 77". So to be able to use your bedframe at all with this mattress, I had to raise the 2x2's up to where the 1x6 slats were flush with the top of the side rails which makes the bed very high. (mattress is 12"). If it ends up being too high, I will simply cut the bottom of the legs until the height is OK.@@1964cht

    • @gatorman538
      @gatorman538 6 місяців тому +2

      Final adjustment: took off the 2x2's and lowered them to 2 1/2" down the siderail so the mattress could be about an inch into the frame. This way the slats no longer showed back when the mattress was flush with the top. So, it turned out OK. Thanks for responding! @@1964cht
