      Just adjust the dimensions for the larger size mattress. My video was based on a full size mattress. A Queen or King would be larger so just adjust accordingly by adding the extra inches as needed.

      It may be a little larger as mine was created for a full size bed. Just scale it down a couple inches by figuring out the size difference between a full and twin size mattress.

    Excellent tutorial! Been looking on various sites all day, and this is the best I’ve encountered…I’m going to attempt to scale this down for a standard twin mattress - 75x38. (Hope my math skills are on point!) What size screws did you use to attach everything? Assuming 3”? Should I use self-tapping? Does it matter? Did you use wood glue? Is it necessary? (My old man OVER-built stuff to withstand hurricanes, hence the question.) He would probably glue/screw AND nail, and add a bazillion metal brackets for added stability.

      Update: Built a twin size version of this exact plan in about 3 hours today. Super sturdy and super cool! Total cost (including lumber, box of 3” screws, wood glue & LED tape lights ~ $110). Thanks again for the awesome video & inspiration!

    • @DieselLegiance

      I posted a diagram. However, most of what I purchased were 8’ boards as I did not have a way at the time to haul anything longer such as a 12’ or larger and then cutting it in half. I’d say in todays inflated market, try to save money however possible.

    2 x 6 ‘s for the upper frame. I’m adding the LED lights and also 5 electrical outlets with USB portals. That’s just for added convenience to charge phone, iPad and gaming headset.

    What screws can you use and what size?

      Any framing screw is fine and I’d suggest 2.5”-3” length screws

    What’s the measurements for the brackets

      @DieselLegiance  2 роки тому

      I’m not sure what brackets you are referring to? I posted a diagram towards the end of the video though. Hopefully that helps.

      That's what I was wondering cause the diagram at the end doesn't say what measurements you cut those 2x4 bracket pieces holding the base to the top . You said they were cut down 2x4 pieces but didn't mention what they were cut down too.

    • @DieselLegiance
      @DieselLegiance  2 роки тому

      Oh ok, just cut the braces no longer than the height of your base and frame. It really does not matter as long as you can connect the top to the bottom with the 2x4 piece. It’s more of a connect brace.

      I posted a diagram with rough measurements in the video about 9 minutes in to the video. Hope this helps.

      Figure the height of the 2x10 base + the height of the 2x4 mattress frame ~ so you’re gonna be in the neighborhood of 13-14”. Just use your tape measure and some scrap 2x4 and cut to length needed, secure with screws in top and bottom, no?

      It depends on the led light strip you buy. The one I got needed an outlet for the power box. If you don’t have an outlet near your bed, just buy a different set of LED lights.
