    Honestly if all UA-camrs gave tutorials like this... The world would be a better place. Let's face it all projects come with mishaps and I thank you. As a person who is looking for a DIY of a day bed.... This is the best tutorial I've seen and I've been researching for 4wks. Kudos and I hope your son is doing awesome in college!!!

    Brilliant build well done Matthias (oops sorry, slip of the tongue ha ha ha), seriously though a brilliant build. I see you are using the Ryobi Nail Gun? I have the same one and i love it, haven't got the Trim Router yet as it's not for sale over here yet. Anyway like i said before a brilliant build, keep up these fun videos you do and well done again. Oh and one more thing, your next toy has got to be a Thickness Planer, i have a Fox one and i love it, makes life alot easier especially with a build like this one.

    • @BronkBuilt
      @BronkBuilt  4 роки тому

      I'll need to go back to refresh my memory but I don't remember using dowels and screws in same joint. I do remember using a dowel in same joint that I have the metal bracket but that was just to help line up and easier to assemble by myself. Which joint did I use screws and dowels?

    • @BronkBuilt
      @BronkBuilt  4 роки тому

      I went back and watched my video. My first reply I was confusing this bed build with my other bed build. Yes I did use screws and dowels and honestly, I do not remember why. Best guess was timing. Screwing would mean I didn't need to clamp and wait for the glue to cure before moving on, but really, I don't remember. Great catch though!

    Why cut off the round edges to then put them back on again?

    • @BronkBuilt
      @BronkBuilt  6 років тому +1

      Because once I tried to glue them together to essentially make a 4x4 is when I discovered they were not flat and parallel so there were some decent gaps. Rounding them back helped hide that fact. I would have done the same anyway, even if that was the plan from the beginning. It is a quick way to clean up those 2 x lumber as normally they are pretty rough on all 4 sides. I start almost every one of my projects that way that use 2 x lumber. Actually after milling down all sides the boards look pretty good. I always appreciate comments and suggestions if you have better ways. Thanks for watching.

    broke college student with a kregg jig, and thousands of dollars worth of wood working shop?

    • @BronkBuilt
      @BronkBuilt  6 років тому +13

      Thanks for watching, but you are only partially correct. I could not tell if you were joking or not so just in case you were not...
      My son is in fact a very broke college student, and those tools are mine, not his. You are correct that there are thousands of dollars worth of tools but let's break that down.
      1. Yes, I have a SawStop that cost me $1300. I have a video on this that describes how I came to that decision. Before that I had one of those $99 table top tablesaws that lasted me about 22 years.
      2. My next most expensive tool is my drill press which I've had for about 15 years and that only cost me about $130.
      3. My new Ryobi nail gun I just picked up last Christmas on sale for $110.
      4. My Ryobi drill and driver combo was $79 on sale.
      5. My Kregg jig was $30.
      6. Every clamp I own, except for 4 of them, were under $10 and most under $5. Harbor freight is where I get them. The 4 over $10 were about $15.
      7. My miter saw I've had for about 10 years and it cost $69.
      8. My circular saw I've had for over 20 years and it was $49.
      9. The palm router was $29
      10. The larger router and table were combined $99
      11. I can't think of a single tool I own for the past 30 years costing more than $60 other than the listed above. Most of my tools are going to range in the $30 range.
      So yes, I have thousands of dollars of equipment and over half of that expense is in the one SawStop Jobsite saw. Take out my SawStop and then I have hundreds of dollars in equipment. You could easily pick up a tablesaw every bit as good as this one without the flesh sensing tech for around $400. You could even go the route I did at first and get one of the $99 dollar table top models as well.

      @@BronkBuilt I'm sure with a bit of ingenuity and some hand tools you can adapt whatever techniques that were used to complete the project, too.
