Great demo. Wolf Ridge makes a great splitter. I love the fact they don’t compromise with their motors. It complements the rugged machine build and hydraulics
Matt, great video,I’ve received my 17 VSC this week, and I am absolutely thrilled with this machine. It makes me look forward to splitting wood.😁 Again, great video.
Yes It does work good but the biggest issue is if you can’t cut the same way every time then your cuts will be a little off. What I mean by that is how you hold the saw to the log when you go to measure has to be the same on every cut. It’s Still accurate just not 100% accurate. I have a video explaining it. ua-cam.com/video/u_v-rQqteT0/v-deo.htmlsi=5QZSx-yRrqpkq3TN
Great saws and a great splitter! Love my 400! I consider it my big saw🤣That VS has to be a very satisfying to run! Love that color too! Take care Matt!
Hey Matt congrats on your Wolfe Ridge 17vs. I just picked up my 17vs-c about a week now. I love it. I had a little trouble because I wasn’t removing my foot off the pedal. Really nice looking wood. Later.Al
I would suggest that you fill the space that was cut from your IBC totes. Use the bars you cut out. Flatten the ends at the cut offs. Drill a 1/4" hole. Fasten them where they came out with zip ties. Cut away when dumping wood for delivery
It’s always fun to cut wood with a sharp chain . All I have ever run for a splitter is a vertical going on 45 yrs now . Now that you have run both what do you think .
The vertical is less tiring to run. The vertical produces better looking wood then my horizontal but there is one thing that the horizontal has on the vertical and that is speed. I believe the horizontal is faster but I haven’t compared them side by side yet so I’m not 100% on that. I plan on doing a video on it in the future.
Appreciate these videos you're making about these two machines.. question??? It appears to me that that vertical log lift goes up at a more significant angle allowing the log to slide right into the place of action versus the need to pull it manually off of the onto the deck of the horizontal. is that correct??
Your welcome. Glad you like them. The horizontal log lift will go up high enough to roll the log but I feel like it’s faster to pull the rounds off because I can control them better as well as I don’t have to move the log lift back down after lifting it up. With the vertical splitter it kinda catches the round for me and I don’t have to use the log lift as a table so I don’t have to bring it back level. Great question!
If I could only have one splitter it would be vertical, If wolf ridge made this splitter back when I was buying my splitters I’d own one now I’m very impressed with it
The vertical is less Tiring and produces better looking wood then my horizontal but there is one thing that the horizontal has on the vertical and that is speed. I believe the horizontal is faster but I haven’t compared them side by side yet so I’m not 100% on that. I plan on doing a video on it in the future.
Great splitter!! Do you think one with a conveyor would be faster?? Im thinking of adding one to my 35c Magnum equipment!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
It’s hard to say right now because I still need to do some more comparisons with the two but I would lean towards the horizontal because of the 4 way wedge.
I see how it is...Nick and Everett get to run it first! I am sure my invite got lost in the mail, again?!?!😢 Why does it sound like you have won a prize on sledge hammer game at the fair everytime the cylinder retracts?? I hadnt noticed this on other videos of this machine. Is something going on with yours or is it just your mic picking it up? The conveyor on them is nice but it sure makes the machine heavier to move around. What is the prive difference with and without the conveyor? Wonder if a guy wouldn't be better off just putting that money towards a stand alone conveyor instead if one is needed? When you roll those logs over and they have dirty bottoms. Walk away and leave those finishing cuts until your chain is starting to feel dull. You will get alot more cuts out of a sharpening that way!👍 Have a great week!
I had the stroke limiter set so that’s the noise you are speaking of. I would definitely get-the one with the conveyor instead because the machine sits way higher than a stand alone conveyor so sliding the cut pieces would be much harder to do and more time consuming. I just cut and hope it doesn’t dull my chain haha. It’s part of it.
@@FirewoodontheHill I get the tree service not messing around with it though I own a tree service too and the time of hauling them off to the sawmill sometimes ain't you know the juice ain't worth the squeeze
If it wasn’t for utube videos, firewood would not be a money maker anymore, equipment is just out of sight and it’s like working for 8 years for nothing 😢😢😢
That's some nice White Oak firewood! 462 was ripping right thru with a sharp chain. Thanks for sharing Matt
A sharp chain makes sawing so much fun! Thanks for watching and giving me the opportunity to run the 17vs!
Great demo. Wolf Ridge makes a great splitter. I love the fact they don’t compromise with their motors. It complements the rugged machine build and hydraulics
That’s right there’s no cut corners. All premium parts.
Looks like you made a bunch of bundle grade wood. I like how that splitter slides the piece down instead of having to pulling it over
Yeah it makes it much easier for sure!
hi there nice machine for bundles , best to all john
Thank you for the video !! I have the 17VS-C (Conveyor) on order ! Cant wait to see my baby and run it :)
You are going to love it!
You got me sold on the 400. I’ve rockin a couple 362’s b/c I liked it so much. 1 in the Jeep 1 in the tree. But the 400 has 13 more CC’s.
Yeah man it will run a 25inch bar no problem and its light.
Matt, great video,I’ve received my 17 VSC this week, and I am absolutely thrilled with this machine.
It makes me look forward to splitting wood.😁
Again, great video.
I think you made a great choice! You will love it!
So the measure thing you have on the handle does it work good?
Yes It does work good but the biggest issue is if you can’t cut the same way every time then your cuts will be a little off. Hey brother. That 17VS is a beast. I like it better than the axis. Chip
Yeah I believe it’s a step up from the axis. Both are great machines!
Nice sawing 👍 I like 17vs too. Great video, good job 🙂
Thank you!
Great saws and a great splitter! Love my 400! I consider it my big saw🤣That VS has to be a very satisfying to run! Love that color too! Take care Matt!
Haha you need to get a bigger saw just so you can say you like the smaller saw better. The 17vs is fun to run!
@@FirewoodontheHill I do say that about my 261🤣 It might be true. I run it 80% of the time. Getting older sucks🤣
how do you make splitting firewood look like a ton of fun? great video btw
Haha I appreciate that. I do enjoy splitting wood so it is fun for me. The machines make it less work and more fun.
Congrats on the new splitter Matt! It looks like a great machine for making precision splits.
Thanks man. Yes it makes bundles pieces a breeze.
Just wondering about the cost ???😢
Awesome video Matt with the 462 and 17VS!!! Sounds like you are getting tuned in with the 17VS!
Thanks and yes I’m getting faster with the vertical splitter for sure.
Great video and I like to hear the sound of the splitter ripping through the wood. Nice job. Upload more videos
Thank you and I will!
Nice splitter for when you need that perfect wood. Don’t take long to saw cord wood when got rounds like that. Keep up the good work.
This is true 3 logs in a cord lol.
Hey Matt congrats on your Wolfe Ridge 17vs. I just picked up my 17vs-c about a week now. I love it. I had a little trouble because I wasn’t removing my foot off the pedal. Really nice looking wood. Later.Al
Yes I did that a couple times but once you learn the machine and it helps to control the cuts better.
Great video, man that 17VS would be fun to run! Satisfying to make the perfect splits!
It’s very satisfying!
I haven’t ran a 400 yet but I am loving my 500i. You’re making some perfect firewood with that VS, glad to see it! Have a good week!
Yeah 500i is a great saw! A little heavy but has more power!
That is a good spliter

Thanks for the idea!
Video super, kamera fantasticna👍
Thanks
Another great video Matt hopefully I have a good year so can invest in my own really makes nice splits and a lot less clean up 👍👍👍
Thank you. Yes invest and it will double maybe triple your production.

1dt to comment from Western North Carolina. Awesome machine. Lots of 🤑🤑💰🤑💰🤑💰🤑
Raleigh NC here, my VS17-C is on order :)
It will pay for itself no problem
Appreciate these videos you're making about these two machines..

After running an axis some yesterday I feel a vertical would be a good machine for doing resplits off the processor.
If I could only have one splitter it would be vertical, If wolf ridge made this splitter back when I was buying my splitters I’d own one now
I’m very impressed with it
A vertical split would be great for resplits!
You can always upgrade. It will pay for itself!
Are you having any issues with the logs getting punky from being on the ground before you get to cutting them up ?
Not criticizing, just asking.
Thnx…
No not really. As long as you get them off the ground before a 1 year rolls around it’s usually fine.
Hi Matt, What do you think of this splitter?? Do you think it’s more practical than the horizontal for your yard?
The vertical is less Tiring and produces better looking wood then my horizontal but there is one thing that the horizontal has on the vertical and that is speed. I believe the horizontal is faster but I haven’t compared them side by side yet so I’m not 100% on that. I plan on doing a video on it in the future.

Yes one with the conveyor would be faster for sure!
If you had to keep only 1 wood splitter, to do everything, is it the vertical ??
It’s hard to say right now because I still need to do some more comparisons with the two but I would lean towards the horizontal because of the 4 way wedge.
Very good splitter but I'd say expensive what price is it
12k but it will pay for itsself in 2 years
I see your making a dent nice cutting 👍👍✌️✌️😏
Yessir 💪🏻
If you had the Money Right Now would you buy the 17VS,
Absolutely! It can do things my horizontal splitter can’t do.
My back isn't getting any younger. That could very well be my next and last splitter.
It is definitely the best splitter for your back!
🎉
You should have on safety glasses for sure 😢😢😢
Shit happens
I started wearing some!
can yo make the video duration longer? no music, no talking, only machine and the wood crackin sound? Thanks.
I see how it is...Nick and Everett get to run it first! I am sure my invite got lost in the mail, again?!?!😢

That white oak needs to go to the sawmill bubba you'd make more money off of it
Not around here. That’s why the tree service brings it to me for free.
@@FirewoodontheHill oh man okay I just figured the white up was going for good money nowadays
@@FirewoodontheHill I get the tree service not messing around with it though I own a tree service too and the time of hauling them off to the sawmill sometimes ain't you know the juice ain't worth the squeeze
How about some country music?
If they put better instrumental music on my app I would choose it.
If it wasn’t for utube videos, firewood would not be a money maker anymore, equipment is just out of sight and it’s like working for 8 years for nothing 😢😢😢
lol I don’t know who you are talking to about making money on UA-cam but we don’t make much. I pay off all my equipment with firewood sales.
