The vertical makes some nice looking firewood. I looked at tractor for quiet while I decided on a used skid steer. Wanted something I could haul in my dump trailer and still lift a lot. Keep up the good work.
Nice sesh Matt! I just got my pro28c 2 days before vacation so I’m sitting in Florida watching woodyard videos on UA-cam wishing I was back home running mine 🤣
Pretty handy splitter. Nice looking oak. Wish we had something like that in my part of the world. The biggest oak out here gets about 8”. Takes a big effort to make a cord from scrub oak.
Yessir, well that’s good and bad I guess. I don’t like splitting oak as a seller because it takes so long to dry but that’s majority what split. If I didn’t get much oak I would probably want more because be who burn for heat are looking for oak.
The final three splits or so is where the vertical splitters start running away from the Super Split. The SS doesn’t have a tall enough blade to split through the four slabs at once. It’ll do two at the most. This is an impressive machine.
Every one says 2 years to dry oak and I say if it in the shade maybe but out in full sun one season it’s ready to burn . But that being said I do age my logs also .
I love the 17VS ❤️ Quartering rounds makes sense. The reason you quarter saw wood is to open up as many cells in the wood as possible so that air drying is most effective. The same would follow for firewood rounds, just shorter lengths. Good splitting 👍 keep up the good work
The way your splitting these rounds seems to be the most efficient way to split them. It's also easier on the operator not having to wrestle a huge heavy round!
I think I could watch a splitter split logs all day-crazy! How do you know when your wood is dry enough to sell? As accurate as the vertical splits, I think this could do double-duty and split bowl blanks for turning on a lathe. That might be how I justify the added cost to my wife.
Me too! I can tell by the weight of the piece of wood in my hand. The next way is with a moister meter. I think that’s a great idea on how to tell your wife haha.
I watched this video all day yesterday. Repeated again and again. I like to see the wood splitted into small and hear that sound. The only thing I don't like is to hear you talking, sorry!
Love the Wolfe Ridge VS! You can really make custom splits. It’s good if your picky like me😂 Nice work keeping your goals for the week Matt👊🏻
Haha yeah you need a vertical haha. Yessir staying strong!
Hard to beat straight grained Red Oak for splitting!
Happy Mother's Day, Ms.Sadie!
Yessir and she said thanks!

Nice and thanks

Oh no. Yeah I bet you are itching to get back haha.

I believe you have found a nice rhythm for splitting with Wolf Ridges vertical. Nice work.👍 Hope Sadie has a wonderful Mother's day.🙂
Thank you!

That’s a good point. Yes having the bigger wedge helps split bigger rounds!

Yeah I can dry oak in less than a year with the small splits. It gets hot and dry here.

Well I’ve never thought of that so I guess that is definitely an advantage. Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching.
Nice splitting!! I like the quarter pieces, not so much man handling!! Happy Mothers Day to Sadie!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Thank you and she said thanks
17Vis idealbundle splitter👍
Agreed
Those splits are awesome brother…great work. 👍
Thank you!
I haven’t heard much about your stand lately, hope the campfire customers are being good to you. 👍
It’s doing good. I’m about to revamp it so I’ll be doing a video on it soon.
Smartest machine out there..
I hate that feeling when one of the rear tires come off the ground!👍👍
Haha yeah I’ve kinda gotten used to it now but it’s an uneasy feeling for sure.
Some nice looking splits!!
Appreciate it!
Hello Matt, definitely a smart way to get smaller wood👏🪵🇺🇸
Thank you!
Thanks for the Vids! LOVER my WolfeRidge 17VS-C !
Thanks for watching.

I agree. It’s what works best for me. Thanks for watching!

Vertical is the way to go for precision. Every splitter has its advantages.
Agreed
You should consider putting your split firewood in 1/3 cord bags. Drys faster and less handling
They cost a lot and they look bad in my opinion. Pilling seems to be the way to go for me. Thanks for commenting!
Hey Matt, since you can't fill the bucket full, why not make it not as deep and not as high so you don't have as much a problem dumping it?
When I make my next bucket I plan to scale down. Hopefully I make it just right haha
Hey Matt, does all of your wood come from tree service? I ask since I don't see you going on location to cut.
Yes it does! Saves so much time!
How much That box hold of wood
It could hold well over a facecord but my tractor can’t lift it so I fill it up a little less than a facecord .
@@FirewoodontheHill thanks

Haha that makes two of us! Thanks for watching!
