  • There has been a lot of catching up done with respect to indian movies beyond bollywood! With this video I spoke about the much celebrated film #jayajayajayajayahey , the tamil film #lovetoday , the marathi film #harharmahadev , the exceptional film from kerala #appan that has released on Sonyliv and finally, Virata Parvam starring #ranadaggubati and #saipallavi in lead roles! These movies primarily from #southindian cinema are really giving stiff competition to #bollywood . I hope you like the Non-Hindi Indian Film Recommendations To Watch & Celebrate Now

I went to see Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey in a theater with my family. After seeing it and thoroughly enjoying it, when we came home my mother said something that really struck me. She said that she could clearly notice that the voices women laughing overpowered the laughter of men, almost as if they didn't know if they should laugh or not, since they all knew that they were guilty of doing something or the other the characters in this film did

More surprising was the applause the audience was giving throughout the movie. Couldn’t make out whether the women or men gave those kudos. Whoever they were, it’s indicating a change in the typical patriarchal attitude among Keralites…

More than the success of movies like jayajayajayajayahe, great Indian kitchen, I’m delighted by the changes in society this brings. Kerala is one rare state where socially relevant movies do well in box office and movies in general are widely discussed. 10-20 years down the line, combined with high literacy, I see great potential for near optimal gender equality.

As a movie Jaya hey may be superior to the great indian kitchen in many ways. But TGIK, and the impact it had on malayalis ( especially the women) cannot be explained in words. The time and energy a woman spends in kitchen is the theme that resonated with millions of woman. And it gave courage to a lot of people to walk out of toxic relationships. Its like jaya is a woman who finally took a decision after watching TGIK.

Virata parvam is a beautiful movie. A real Telugu film. It captured the essence of modern age Telugu poets philosophy of self respect, individuality and seeing the other side of the coin.
One example I will explain here, we all celebrate Buddha as the guru and light but modern age telugu poets like jandhyala papaya sastrygaru tried to capture Yasodhara's pain. Similarly in this film Ravanna (Rana) is a hero for the downtrodden but director shows the plight of his mother.

Truly how good and diverse India is and how lucky are we Indians to get to see so many variety of movies from across all states and also see the great talents from each film industry. And it is this beautiful diversity that people are killing by becoming a victim of social media and developing hate atmosphere.

Happy to know you watched Virataparvam, I literally brokedown in theatre while watching the climax. SaiPallavi ma'am lived as Vennela, as always gave her Best. Truly very very underrated. The movie has a very realistic approach and depicted the 90's naxal movement very well.
The dialogues & song lyrics of the movie are very intense & powerful.
Throughout the movie we will be connected to Vennela.
Well there are many reasons for movie not doing well at Box-office, the controversy didn't have any effect in Telugu states, it's mostly happened online that too by few so called Bhakths from North and North media.
The release time is wrong with heavy competition from Vikram, Major & AnteSundaraniki. Ante also didn't get break-even because of this heavy competition.
The problem most people have is the screenplay is lagging.
Virataparvam has a certain set of audience and it impressed them all.
    One of the underrated Gem.

Honestly tamil crowd is something 20 of them gave a feeling of housefull. How is tamil cinema making us cry and laugh so much that our jaw hurts first thiruchitrablam and now this.
Have to admit this movie really has changed my perspective on a few things. Everyone was clapping when the mother said nobody wants to be a trustworthy partner 😭film really clicked so well that people wanted to listen moral lessons too, so happy today.

So happy that you addressed Marathi movies today since our guys have been on a hot run the past couple years with great movies. I believe most why people prefer Ajay Purkar's performance over Sharad kelker's despite har har mahadev being a deeper look into the character of baji prabhu is because Purkar's mannerisms and accent and language are far better than that of kelker's who is indore born and his marathi is not proper. Physically too Purkar's apperance and performance looks more convincing and historically accurate than kelker's

I thought JJJH was taking our emotions on a wild ride. Sometimes I couldn't laugh, because I was still crying from the previous scene and lost in the irony. The gaslighting in that movie and the meddlesome uncle which we call in malayalam 'paara' (cleaving lever) felt so personal. I have had my own distant uncles tell me that it's their duty to 'marry me off' no matter what I say, when my own parents have given me full control over this matter. The just cannot control the urge to parent aka marry off others people's daughters.
And the movie on a serious notes borrows heavily from some recent DV cases that ended up bad...especially the text messages and the calls to her parents.

The makers of this movie are magicians! I didn't shed a tear while watching the movie. I was laughing, cheering and clapping. But after leaving the theatre, finally tears came. I have friends and family who are still going through such situations. Impregnating your wife early in the marriage to trap them is something some husbands do. Jaya is sure going to haunt me for a long time.
