Correction: The parallel created with Yaskin's character is with the demon Kali, not goddess Kali, another case of me not proof reading my editors work. The demon that appears at the end of the Kaliyug to face Kalki
I guess Bhairava interrupting roxie from doing the maintenance work in the complex is what led to power interruption during SUM-80's procedure eventually... And I am pretty sure that roxie will be back in part 2 and I Hope that Dulqer will get his own Spinoff movie which in itself is a very interesting character
And the way Yaskin was shown in the post credits resembled Bramha cos Kali was infact born as a result of Bramha’s deep Yoga which he did to remove all the negativity out of his body.

Not showing Krishna's face was to provide the feeling of making him more of an abstract being beyond the reality and our perception-the supra consciousness. A good decision.
Whoever they rope in to play Shri Krishna, should not be fair, not with round nose, a beautifully disarming smile, possibly curly hair and not a body builder with a square chin!!

Bringing Karna into the equation was the most brilliant decision Nagi has made in this film... I don't know this is the same train of thoughts he followed but the way I see it is... Before the war Krishna and Karna had a conversation where krishna tries to bring him to the Pandava camp but Karna refuses.. Then he says to Krishna that he knows that the Pamdavas are going to win the war.. He says if f he survives the war he hopes he and Krishna become friends for life and if he doesn't better so in the next life to which Krishna agrees and embraces him.... So supposed this is the rebirth where Karna (as usual) is on the wrong side but this time he will have his redemption and join the right side.. And in the process he will have the opportunity to save Krishna's incarnation.... Which is so absolutely amazing. Also the Karna Krishna scene is legit from Mahabharat not from any novel
true ,nag aswin will show redemption side of mahabharat characters in 2898ad .ashwathama from killing uttaras unborn child to saving sumati unborn is one of the example
Seeing the awesome Mahabharata scenes in Kalki, I wished someone would actually make Mahabharata with this kind of visual effects... It would be so so amazing!!
Did anyone realize the parallel between deepika's entry into kashi and Draupadi birth through yajna? The wind blowing to let her walk through the fire similar to yamuna parting to allow Vasudeva cross the river. Deepika asking questions about concept of marriage just like Draupadi supposed to have asked about worldly things after her yajna birth.
i have a different take... parallel to vaasudeva carrying krishna from jail, across yamuna river and river is giving him the path... here deepika carrying kalki from yaskin, across fire and a wind blown at that gives her path to walk through...
Broooo,The last Cut,when Krishna elevates about Karna and then Prabhas' face is revealed with the "veera veera..." BGM Cut by "A film by nag Ashwin" gave me a different high😭😭
A lot of ppl who know Mahabharatha but still missed this reference at the beginning of the movie - "Ashwatthama hathaha ... kunjaraha (whisper) ". This is a ploy played by Pandavas to kill Drona, the father of Ashwathama and the teacher of Arjuna. They name an elephant with his son's name and kill it on the battlefield (you can notice a dead elephant on battlefield when this phrase comes in the intro) and say "Ashwatthama is dead" for Dhronacharya to hear, and "kunjaraha (elephant)" slowly so that they can deceive him on the battlefield to think his son was dead (and technically not telling a lie since Ashwathama the elephant is actually dead). This makes it easier for them to kill Drona since he is distraught because he thinks his son is dead, and gets distracted in the battlefield. Many such underhanded tactics are played by both sides in Kurushketra war which is the reason why it is said that this war marks the beginning of Kali Yuga - the age where ppl start losing their moral compass, become selfish and less intelligent.
One more parallel that I really loved was how in the original Mahabharat, Karna was cursed to forget all his knowledge when it mattered most, whereas here, he remembered all his powers when it mattered most, albeit for a brief period. So when the final war happens, he will be completely reacquainted with his knowledge, free of his curse, to finally fight for dharma.

Bhairav being repeatedly called/suggested to be 'selfish' when Mahabharat's Karna is the literal symbol of 'selflessness' was such an interesting take. The reincarnated version being the opposite of the og personality is indeed an intriguing thought.
Bro you forgot the important thing if you read Mahabharat you can observe the selfishness of Karna due to his obsession to overpower Arjuna , Karna is selfless person in personal but his obsession over to become greater than Arjuna makes him selfish and make him to go to any extent (like joining hands with duryodhana) without understanding the consequences
I do not think it was 'selfishness' that caused his obsession with overpowering Arjun, but the repeated unfairness he had to suffer due to his underprivileged birth and upbringing compared to Arjun's privilege. And he joined the Kauravas cause of his debt to Dhuryodhana who has shown him a bit of humanity/kindness/favour when he was getting publically humiliated and he stayed on that side till the end due to that gratitude even when he knew about his brothers being on the other side and that Kauravas would prolly fail the war. If he was selfish he could have joined the Pandavas, tell them the truth, claimed the elder brother position, get Droupadi, and the right to rule after they win, yet he did not. He was stubborn, yes, but never selfish.
@@SaljiAbraham bro Arjuna is privileged, but that doesn't mean that karna has got unfair treatment at first you should know that even karna received basic training from Dronacharya, but Dronacharya denied to give him Astra Gyan (using divine weapons), which even he denied to Duryodhan, and you are telling Duryodhan has shown humanity first you should know that Duryodhan haven't shown any humanity or fairness Duryodhan has used the opportunity as he doesn't have any other option other than karna to counter Pandavas and exploited karna, and Karna the man with values always respected duryodhana because of his due , you are telling that if he selfish he would join Pandavas and claim the throne but you forgot that if current is really selfless he would be stood towards Dharma where Pandavas are fighting for , he would not be silent when Draupadi is getting humiliated and I clearly said that karna is selfless in personal but his obsession to overpower Arjuna made him blind to be selfish and stand towards adharm
Karna was never selfless. He was selfish. But that is understandable given the circumstances he had to face. He wanted the fame, he wanted to be acknowledged for his talent, he wanted to prove himself as the greatest of them all. Only the tv shows and movies showed him as selfless, but that is not the reality in Vyasa Mahabharata. I could guess the very moment when that chakra of the chariot fell and Bhairava held it single handedly, that he is the reincarnation of Karnataka, as he was already established as a selfish character. Nonetheless, Nagi is a genius to include such minute links from the Mahabharata and the Kalki Purana. Hat's off.
Just wanted to point one thing out, Karna was trained by Bhagwan Parshurama. Potentially, they can show DQ Salman’s character as Parshurama and then both Bhairava and Captain will train Kalki. ( As in scriptures, there is a mention of Parshurama training Kalki for battle) And there is one more theory as well. Yaskin (Kamal Hasan’s character) is actually in need of that serum to become Kalki him self. He wants to be god like figure as you can see in initial shots of Yaskin that he sits in Dhyan Mudra so that made me think that Yaskin him self wants to be god but while trying to be Kalki, he actually became Kali by doing all the bad stuff.
@@TriedRefusedProductions Yess exactly! But they haven’t shown what happened to DQ’s character after he went to complex. Maybe Yaskin (Kamal Hasan’s character) realized that DQ is one of the cheeranjivis and kept him in one of the chamber he has right next to him after taking his powers! Who knows?
And to add more to this theory, you can see those 5 floating ball like structures around Yaskin that can be energy of 5 Cheeranjivis. And left 2 are Parshurama (maybe DQ’s character transferred his powers in Karna aka Bhairava) and Ashwatthama’s Shivamani is last two things/energies he needs!
Maybe they show DQs alive in the next movie and he helps Prabhas to finally realise that he is Karn, training him like Parshuram for the inevitable battle.

This is indeed true for SS Rajamouli but I feel there is an upside to this as well. Mahabharat scenes were the best things about the movie. They said, During Mahabharat times, warriors were 8 feet tall. If Ashwathama is this powerful, imagine how powerful Parashuram and Hanuman will be!
The fact that i have seen Indians saying Ashwathama is a copy of Marvel's Vision because of the stone on the forehead is the most saddest thing i have read today. These kids don't have a basic knowledge of our culture. 😢
While both kalki and brahmastra suffered from screenplay issues. The difference is that kalki had a slow pacing and had some unnecessary scenes and characters like roxy. While in brahmastra it lost its core plot and become a straight up love story.
Bhrahmastra is an abomination and one of the worst films to have ever come out of Hindi cinema. Don't insult Kalki AD by mentioning the two in one sentence.
Ikr... Plus... Logic being the avatars don't happen in the same body... So technically ram and krishna would definitely have looked different.... As we can see in paintings and sculptures of dashavatars.... Each of them have their unique identity
Only after the final Bhairava as Karna reveal, I realised how well the makers have used foreshadowing. If you notice, throughout the film Bhairava is wearing an armour like bodysuit which is symbolic to the golden Armour that Karna recieved from Surya God. Such a simple detail hidden in plain sight 🤯
exactly, Also I loved the idea that the good souls who ended up at the wrong side of the Mahabharata war but was good and religious by heart, getting redemption with Kalki. Brilliant idea so far
As an American who knows little about this part of Indian history, the end battle was still exciting and breathtaking. I didn't know who Prahbas was, but I knew he was a hero who would be amazing.
My goosebumps moment was whilst throughout the movie , Bhairav was shown as an Avatar of Shiva , the climax revealed that he was reincarnation of Karna .. I did not see that coming !! I loved how Lord Krishna edified the character of Karna .. that’s a definite foreshadow of the next installment of Kalki !! Another point I wld like to highlight is how Nag Ashwin ensured that Ashwatthama looked exactly as the man from his time .. the giants that they were .. mighty in strength and size .. makes us realize that in time we actually do end up like ants .. Supreme Yaskin is so weak that he needs the DNA drop of his enemy to fight against him .. the irony of evil ..
Actually he supplied the serum to the ladies first 😂... It is the irony of god . Using his enemy's serum to come into a woman's womb... ❤ just like he did with devaki right under the watchful eyes of kamsas men
Karna was the superior warrior...Even Shri Krishna used to praise Karnas attempts of stopping Arjunas chariot, which used to make Arjuna feel insecure - for which Krishna explained - even though Arjuna’s chariot had Shri Krishna AND the essence and strength of Hanuman via the orange flag on it, Karna was still able to cause damage to the chariot with each arrow shot, which showed his immense prowess as an archer
I think the part where Prabhas goes to the complex is necessary as it shows the huge difference between the life of people inside the complex and in Kashi. It shows why Prabhas and many others want to go there so much.
This same contrast can be provided without a randomly cut dance and musical sequence. If you truly want to do a deep dive on the abundance of the complex: why half ass it

In that portion they could have easily portrayed the opulence and affluence of the complex. There was no need of dance break with disha in the film.
Another big thing which I thought that people didnt realise is Sri Krishna has darker skin tone in the movie which is new and is correct as per mythology

@@050138 No bro , its very predictable because ..in the interval scene , the astrologer says "your life is going to change and you can see the visual of surya in the card he displays....and pair that up with amitabh elevating karna and not revealing his face"
The "TaTakkara" song and the entire Complex sequence are visually grand separately. But the song, dance and Disha’s subplot, kind of, changed the tone and the mood of the film. Being a dystopian film, I wanted this film’s temper to be constantly tense, sombre, and stirring throughout the first half. Because that’s when the viewer’s heart would “root for” Kasi’s people, Deepika’s destiny and the overall societal change; and also feel the tragedy of the dystopia, thus the viewer would yearn for the advent of Kalki and Bhairava’s shift towards his virtue. It felt as if Nag Ashwin had already decided the film’s pre-interval sequence with Deepika and Kalki’s escape from the Complex. Before that, he just wanted to stretch the movie out for almost one and a half hours until the interval (which he already decided) arrived in the middle of the film. Nag Ashwin could have focused more on Complex’s atrocities, Bhairava’s motives, Kashi’s world, Yaskin’s malice, and Sumathi and other women’s adversities in the Complex; or maybe, more detail about the Project-K instead of Bhairava’s love interest, Roxie’s subplot of getting a job in the Complex, their banter, and the dance number. Because when the viewer starts rooting for a ‘shift’ in Kasi and its people’s fate, the subplot of Roxie & Bhairava kind of snatches that “avidity” suddenly. And the viewer’s mind gets relaxed for a significant time and no longer emotionally engages with Kasi’s state and Complex’s purpose. That would have made the film’s first half more intense, gripping, thrilling and acute. This would result in viewers’ desperation for Ashwatthama’s arrival in the rescue of Sumathi, and Bhairava’s prevalence of entering the Complex.
But I think this sequence was meant to show what's inside the complex to create a contrast ,but it could have been intense and a bit more advanced, instead they showed us a party. But that could also mean that we are living in the peak of our luxuries, everything will eventually fall from here ,and whatever left will be an artificial recreation of today's world.
They couldn't really convince me it's ghor Kali Yuga( I think first half and unnecessary humour was the factor responsible for it). They resorted to their Telugu masala Flick template.

I believe he did state everything in there. Nagi said the story connection between Ending of the beginning to the beginning of the ending. Karna in Mahabharat is selfless, stands on promise. But bhairava is completely opposite for a reason. I really liked how Nagi depicted bhairava character. Also, showed the main motive of bhairava as to get into complex. Also, once you see bhairava losing to aswathama. His aim was to even things out. And it's just the beginning. So everything you saw in this part's have a connection.

Dulquer's character should be explored more. I hope he becomes the Han Solo figure in the Kalki universe. An outlaw without any superpowers, who is a really cool pilot. Maybe a spinoff.
I loved how the film was not focused on showcasing Prabhas as the key protagonist and everything revolving around him. Bro I have a suggestion about the subplot of roxie. So instead of roxie taking bhairava to the complex and they exploring it together, the creators could've shown that people can rent a virtual tour of the complex for x number of units. And bhairava is mesmerised by the places he sees in the virtual tour and feels (with hi-tech gloves). In this way there is no need to introduce roxie and the subplot can be avoided totally.
I think there is more for this . Because if u remember their conversation in complex . Roxie tells Bhairava about the Power grid that supplies to Complex . This might actually come in handy for him to destroy Complex or Yaskin in next part!!!
In that way it reduces the desire to get into the complex as one can hunt a bounty and get into the complex multiple times. It won't feel like the way it is now It will feel like Disneyland instead
My theory - Prabhas being karna here makes sense bcoz krishna bhagwan gave both friends chance to fight for dharma..also in our scriptures every yuga when vishnu ji avatar banke aayenge tab baki gods ke ansh bhi aayenge sath sath jaise ki mahabharat mein arjun as ansh of indra dev surya putra karn then yudhishthir as ansh of yamraj also in Ramayana sugriv and bali...also his character and karn's character are very similar Bujji can't reach complex in next part due to her wheel being out..captain sold prabhas so prabhas will want to be a good father figure..karn's birth was very interesting... vardan of surya dev..i think it's same for prabhas..his mother will be part of project k and was able to escape but she found herself in war landscape..she hid prabhas to save him.. captain then found him and named him bhairava bcoz they were in kashi...but prabhas real name is vishnu yash and then they all will fight yaskin (not kali but puppet of kali) trilogy will be made and then phase 2 exploring every chiranjeevi and kalki bhagwan Vijay dhanush was given by shiv ji to pashruram bhagwan and then to karna..bhairava is reference to kaal bhairav so that's why he is also protector of kashi!!!!

Well it's the Arjun who is the strongest has won every battle participated in . I would love to see the compilation ( or any extra footage) related to Mahabharat in this movie . Some things that I noted while watching this movie is 1. All the religion included or shown have their roots in India be it Hinduism , Sikhism , Buddhism . 2. The Height of Ashvthamma is relevant since he is from Dwapar Yug where the average height of humans was far more compared to present day. 3. It may be my guess but the tree shown in Shambala could be Peepal Tree ( the one which holds the Brahma , Vishnu , Mahesh in it ) so that sequence of leaf coming to Bhairava arm may be due to influence of Vishnu to protect Kalki from Supreme Yaskin .
Arjuna was most definitely the strongest! He literally saved Duryodhana and his pompous party from the Gandharva Chitrasena! Duryodhana decided to go on a Ghoshayatra to show off his immense wealth after he defeated the Pandavas in the dice game fraudulently! Arjuna obeyed Yudhishthira's orders and saved Duryodhana. On the other hand Karna (who is God knows why considered to be a tragic hero) ran away because he was no match for the Gandharvas!
I wish they make Mahabharat on a greater scale than Kalki. Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps. How magnificent it will be if they make Mahabharat.
The problem is how much creative freedom will the director/writer get. I remember there was a rumor at one point about Anurag Kashyap making a series on Indian mythology but unfortunately we're too intolerant as a nation to get there :/
If only they removed unnecessary characters, song sequences and comedy scenes of the first half, this movie would have been a perfect 10/10 movie. Anyways, the second half, especially the last 45 minutes was sheer magic. I kind of predicted who Prabhas is in the scene before intermission where he stopped the wheel from falling. And when Aswatthama told he is using Vijaya as the walking stick I knew who Vairava is. Ohh how I loved the revelation scene. Can't wait for the second installment of this cinematic universe. Only thing I want the makers to give Karna a happy ending in this birth. No more tragedy for this man please 😊
The animation and the song literally gave be chills. It was existentially terrifying. Amitabh's song feels so much more real and personal. It has the same feeling as "Deliver Us" from Prince of Egypt.
The hate towards VD's cameo is just because people hate him. There is no reason or logic to it. I know it's mainly because of his Arjun Reddisque attitude off screen and his movies not meeting the expectations. But i don't think he deserves so much hate.
More than VD I would say it's the director's fault here. In order to elevate Karna (aka Prabhas) they downgraded Arjun. Tell me a man who spent an entire year dressed as a. woman, would he really be haughty and arrogant. Not to mention, this is the Arjun after Krishna narrates Gita to him.

Someone who has read Mahabharata in great depth critically, I can’t wait to watch the movie. I literally gave a Mahabharata briefing to my family before booking the tickets. Excited to watch the movie because the references were on point in the trailer. Also I feel not showing Krishna is necessary, going back to Dharamvir Bharat’s play, Andha yug, he purposefully never showed Krishna as it kept the allure of his divinity. The Allahabad All india radio presentation of the play is a masterpiece and I wish more people hear it.
I am just hoping they don't show Arjuna as some random fighter to show Karna was supremely powerful. You know we Indians have a habit of loving the evils. First it's Karna and now some adore Ravana.
I’m sorry to disappoint you but there literally only 3-4 short scenes from Mahabharata. Even I went to the theatre expecting to see Mahabharata story well but I was really disappointed.
The incarnation of Karna was so epic! Imagine if all the Pandavas were reincarnated in the sequels with the exception of Yudhishtira (as he went to Heaven) would so amazing
heyy Jammy loving the love for the movìe ❤ I'm gonna watch it couple of times more too..just a small correction on your video at 1:14..The attack on Uttara's womb was not just an attack on the Pandavas future but rather an attack on the entire Kuru clan's sole hope for a future..Of course the story differs from the Mahabharata anyway because in the Mahabharata both Arjun and Ashwatthama unleashed the Brahmastra..that act prompted the heavens to speak out, declaring that unleashing that weapon would cause the destruction of the world itself so they both were asked to recall that weapon..Arjun was able to recall his weapon but Ashwatthama hadn't bothered to learn recalling his weapons and hence was asked to redirect it..and that's why his punishment was greater than Arjun..his unthinking act could have destroyed the world and even when asked to mitigate his thoughtless rage could have resulted in the end of the sole heir of the entire Kuru clan (Kauravas, Pandavas and the Panchalas)..I hope the film prompts the younger generations to read if not the original work then atleast the Hindi version or the excellent English one by Kisari Mohan Ganguly :)
Yes, this is something many forget about in the course of this film which used huge money splashed CGI to basically lie about Mahabharata on every other instance just to give it's Telugu star an heroic elevation.. seriously have grown sick of this blind hero worship..
TBH after Prabhas became Indian star we (telugu fans of Prabhas) really missing his fun and comic character so for us this is vintage prabhas who we used to love
It’s like as if this time Prabhas himself was confident about the script! Ofc the Mahabharata helped!! But he was so sure in the climax! You could see it in his eyes! And Deepika man I still remember that interval block! No other actress could hv done it from the new gen😕 gosh I missed good mainstream cinema
My guess - Bujji and not Bhairava is working for the evil Yaskin. It is Bujji who shapes Bhairava's thoughts and values. Bujji is the one who distracts Bhairava when he is about to discover himself. Bujji's origins also explain - it was an AI engine found in the trash by Bhairava - why was it tracked? I am all convinced that Bujji is working for evil.
Kamal Hassan -Yaskin with a very limited screen time he laid out the purpose of his dictatorship and sent chills down my spine when he used his tears to kill the scientist, just the duality of feeling bad for what humans have done with the world and the will to be the bad guy to do whatever it takes to save the rest of it was shown there. The ending scene had a demonic screen presence showed us what Yaskin thinks of himself as he levitates carrying the god's bow with his nanobot orb things taking the shape of extra arms just like how the Hindu gods are represented. And the voice over (i watched in tamil) when he repeats this dialogue as a chant for 3 times, "boomiyai naan adhira veippen" (i will shake this world) i really believed he was one villain who could shake and reshape the world. Kamal Hassan as villain is just cinema at its peak. Im willing to sit through that poor first half just so that i can witness the war portions, Amitabh ji's performance and Kamal hassan ascending as a god.
The fact that Nag Ashwin took his imagination and storytelling to a whole new level that we saw a post apocalyptic world order centerd in India with people from every community, region, tribe, ethnicity made part of it is so admirable which is polar opposites to the perception what we really had that such things can only be imagined in Hollywood centric places . Now on i believe filmmakers will gain the confidence to try their imagination & storytelling in all of the uncharted territories feom indian cinema perspective.
If Big b as Ashwatthama can push limits to such extent in part 1 then What will happen if Ashwatthama vs Kali takes place as both are versatile just imagine the blast
Just watched it. My favorite things were the parallels drawn with Mahabharata. Now I'm not a very religious person but I have grown up with these stories and the 2nd half was so amazing to watch. Especially the revelation of Prabhas as Karna. The Krishna introduction was also chilling and the way he described Karna to Arjuna was my favorite moment of the movie. First half felt like a completely different movie altogether with the unnecessarily stretched fight sequence of Prabhas with mediocre fight choreography. But the moment the movie picks up is when Gandeeva is discovered. I absolutely loved that they made the climax a brilliant sequence with amazing graphics and dialogue. Had it not been for the 30 mins in the middle, the movie would have been a solid 10/10 for me. I'm loving that our own stories are being picked up and made into something so visually appealing and I had goosebumps when the chariot of Karna was in the scene.
It really makes sense to think why even kamal hasan has limited screen presence in the first part when you consider the next installments of movie. Kalki 2898 AD is mostly the prelude for kaliyuga and kamal hasan might not even be kali. Kalki might be born in sumati's womb and yaskin might also in some way give rise to the birth of kali and that would be the epic battle in the end. The real interesting thing is the reincarnated version of karna and nag ashwin truly gave a cliffhanger with the particular point

The day we have a film devoid of forced humor, pointless romantic subplots, inappropriate musical sequences, and ill-suited cameos, and one that takes itself seriously, will be the day Indian Cinema can achieve greater heights faster than we ever imagined.
thing is there are some criteria's you have to fulfill to get big budget for your movies, you have to satisfy the producers as they think Indian audience will only reciprocate to romance and dance numbers which might be evident as story focused films don't do well like Tumbadd

One scene that I really loved was, how Fire gave way to Deepika, carrying Kalki. We can draw a kind of parallel of how the flooding waters or Yamuna gave way to Vasudev carrying Krishna to Gokul. That connection striking in, I really enjoyed that scene
I believe that the first half was planned to set a ground to explore the world that was created and parallely establish the characters and the world of Kalki. Also, I feel that prabhas comic timing was exceptional in the Telugu version. May be the dubbed Hindi comedy might have not landed as in Telugu. Prabhas humour side was definitely re-explored and he delivered. As a film lover, I believe that instead of comparing this with those of Hollywood sci-fi flicks, we need to appreciate the fact that for an Indian director to come up with such an idea of blending our mythology with futuristic sci-fi and some spectacular visuals like never before in our Indian cinema history!!!, as this is the first of its kind. Kudos to his vision 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. This would definitely help other film directors to think big and cutoff from the regular formula based movies. We as audience should definitely support such an effort. Only then building movies on such a grand scale with clear vision and purpose would be possible. Just my opinion 🤷🏻
This movie had so much potential but they literally ruined the first half by dragging and giving time to some unnecessary stuff. The second half had so much and also the Mahabharat connection had me. Loved the cinematography though.
Completely untrue. World building, intention establishment of a character is absolutely necessary. The same is delivered in the first half. People like you are the reason why Hindi cinema is backward while South films are progressing like crazy.
@@phoenixj1299 You really need to watch more of the world cinema, I'm the biggest fan of Malayalam cinema. I have watched over 5-6K movies till now that too in 20+ countries original movies (with subtitles). Character building is a different story but the action sequences were way too childish even when audiences were expecting something good it went flat. I loved the second half and I hope that Part two of the franchise will be a blockbuster. For that instance watch Mad Max Fury or Dune.
I have two questions that are unanswered with this film, 1. How Karna is related to Kalki? Is there any evidence or literature around that? 2. If Deepika is Sumati who will be the mother of Kalki but puranas also mentioned about his father being Vishnuyashas but we saw Deepika being implanted with the artificial seed, then how come Nag Ashwin will justify that? Or what they are currently protecting is not god? May be Deepika has powers but she is not aware of it?
krishan told karna that he will come again in kaliyuga and in that timeline karna will born again and fight along with dharma side .so basically director will play the redemption card of mb characters .
I wish Kalki 2 focused more on the Kurukshetra war and the character arcs of Karna and Ashwatthama, rather than the futuristic city we've already seen countless times in Hollywood movies. The glimpses of the past shown in the movie are the scenes that give you goosebumps. I really want to see Nag Ashwin's take on the Kurukshetra war on the big screen. The few visuals already provided are a guarantee that he is more than capable of doing it in India.
The fact that people are reading and knowing more about Mahabharata because of this One Movie is such a delight to me. This one movie generated more interest for our puranas in people than many people who spent time to popularize Puranas.
Nah the movie only shows 2-3 scenes from Kurukshetra war and nothing from Mahabharata per say. I wanted to see a better story from Mahabharata but there was literally nothing. But yes it’s only helping the youth to get more interested in the puranas and Mahabharata

I felt like Nag Ashwin wants us to get adapted to the environments inside the movie, I think thats why he made first half very prolonging and just when people were fed up and thinks that where is this movie heading, deepika escape from the complex and that historic walk, Ashwathama entering the plot just ease off the story and made the audience exhilarating, after that I was so immersed in the plot and the story. Loved the movie minus the comedy scenes. I am up for a second time with any frnd or family!
Portraying Karna as a tragic hero has been there in the Bengali literature. Bibhutibhushan Bandhyapadhyay narrated a sympathetic approach towards Karna from the point of view of Apu in Pather Panchali. Tagore’s Karna Kunti Sangbad also depicted the same, which Prakash Jha used as a plot in his film Rajneeti. But in the general history of Indian cinema/serial Arjun has always been showcased as the greatest warrior, whereas, Karna has mostly been presented as a mere antagonist. In fact both the characters are used as references to that very idea of hero worshiping-good and evil. So, If any film maker attempts to explore a renewed side of hero worshiping in terms of an epic like Mahabharata, that would be an interesting watch.
@@Raghuram_2894 it's all about perspectives! In the movie Kalki, Karna was shown from the point of view of Ashwadhama, to him Karna is bigger than Arjuna. That is the beauty of Mahabharata, where characters are MOSTLY grey they have both good and bad qualities, but what matters is if they are with Dharma or not. We may call him the villain, because he stood with Adharma, but that doesn't demean his strengths and valor. He was also a hero in many instances, like coming up in ranks breaking the caste system or performing selfless alms. Everyone is a hero in their story!
@@abhishekjatram yes, every person has grey shades in Mahabharata. But I disagree that his character is more dark than grey. That's why I ask people to read Sanskrit Mahabharata for a reason.
@@abhishekjatram Here is an example of how mainstream media has distorted Hindu Ithihasas and Puranas. Lionizing evil souls while demonizing Dharmic ones. Dambodbhava, an Asura had observed severe penance for Vivasvan, the Sun God and sought the boon of having 1000 pieces of impenetrable armour attached to his body. Owing to his ego and arrogance he starts to conquer, pillage, destroy and wreak havoc amongst the three worlds. This is when the two forms of Narayana and Nara materialize to defeat the Adharmic Asura. When all 999 pieces of armour are destroyed and realization dawns upon Dambodbhava that he had been intoxicated by pride, he begs for Vivasvan to help him. The Sun God knowing fully well that he cannot be saved, buys him sometime by releasing him from his mortal body. This act of cowardice and running away is a repeating theme when Dambodbhava ‘s soul is reborn. When Kunti prays to Suryadev Vivasvan, she is blessed with a boy but little does she know that the essence of that soul is none other than the Asur Dambodbhava, who is born with the last piece of armour/kavach and along with it, the ideals of Adharma. Karna was adopted by Adiratha, a Kshatriya charioteer and Radha who was a Brahmin. Hence any claim that he was of a ‘lower caste‘ is simply baseless especially because Adiratha was the brother of the king of Anga. People who falsely sympathize with Karna who had a very comfortable life, fail to sympathize with Krishna whose childhood was filled with life or death encounters and still the latter decided to uphold Dharma. Karna was never denied any formal teaching because of his ‘caste’. In fact he was an opportunist and took every immoral route possible to be able to learn weaponry and acquire celestial weapons only for his shallow narcissistic goals fueled by his hate for Arjuna. Karna keeping his true identity hidden to not disturb his Guru’s sleep is much like the cheating husband who does not want to come clean to his wife about his true nature just to save the proverbial marital boat. Any celebration of such people is nothing but justifying excuses to continue sinning. The friendship of Duryodhana and Karna is claimed to be of great quality but it is far from the truth. Duryodhana simply saw Karna as a tool and a henchman (kinkarapani), something which Karna proudly called himself. This was a relationship where the two looked at each other for mutual consolation to continue following adharma because of their colossal insecurities. The archery event in which people claim Karna’s low birth was ridiculed is actually a great understanding of the mutually parasitic relationship between Karna and Duryodhana. Duryodhana simply wanted to insult the Pandavas and hence made Karna the King of Anga. The issue was not that of caste but of loyalty. A charioteer is considered an important council for the King especially since his life depends on it. It is disloyal for the lineage of a charioteer to contest against his own royalty and thus Karna was made royalty just to embrace his love for getting away from responsibilities. Moreover, Karna was the king of Anga only for namesake; he used the country to recruit men and women for various purposes and siphoned the wealth for his pleasures. He was never there to manage, to administration or develop the quality of life for his people. He burnt down great many cities as well and left places far worse than before he came upon them. Was this righteous of any King? Karna is also believed to be a great warrior who was almost as powerful as Arjuna, if not more. The account of what happens at Panchala after the Swayamvara gives us a clear picture of the truth. Keeping aside the fact that Karna took his own son to the event, morally accepting to share a potential bride between themselves he also poisons those around him. After losing the Swayamvara Karna and Shakuni convince Duryodhana the best way to seek revenge is to rally a force and attack Drupada’s Panchala. Though Drupada’s forces were strong they weren’t ready for the surprise attack with odds stacked against them. Finally Arjuna steps in and defeats not just Karna, while he flees but also Shakuni, Duryodhana and Jayadratha. It is clear who the superior warrior was. Another instance of the ‘friendship‘ between Karna and Duryodhana was when the Kauravas learnt about the Pandavas residing at Dwaitavana. His eternal spite for Draupadi forced Karna to rally an entire army by force and deceit and went to Dwaitavana. Indira, witness to all of this sends a Gandharva army to smite Duryodhana and his gang. When these two forces met a battle ensued in which Karna fled again. The Pandavas intervene and strike a deal with the Gandharvas to let the prisoners go. After all the commotion Karna emerges and justifies all his actions while telling Duryodhana that it was the Pandava’s duty to protect him as they were his loyal subjects, all the while wanting to kill them. During the game of dice with Pandavas, it is Karna who plots with Shakuni to tamper with the dice. In fact when the Pandavas lose everything it is he who suggests to Duryodhana to ask for Draupadi and finally in a fit of rage asks Dushhasana to disrobe her. His indecency did not stop there. He offered his wives to other soldiers, he called women whores and he even went on to insult people by telling them they were fit for only washing utensils. If at all there was a greater enemy to women’s rights it would be Karna. In his last moments Karna did not donate his kavacha kundal but selfishly demanded for a boon if he were to do so. Karna was not praised by Krishna. In fact Krishna calls Karna adharmic in several places. The records of his charity are false and the truth is closer to a king who asked people to do whatever they wished with his kingdom as long as his needs were taken care of. No wonder he is the poster boy for class struggle enthusiasts and communists who think one must receive everything simply because they exist. They forget to realize one must strive to be worthy of the noble things and not expect to be offered charity owing to just one’s situation. In short Karna was a reborn adharmic Asura, who had a very comfortable life with very few struggles, fostered baseless hate and jealousy for people better than him, lied to his own Gurus, fled several battles and never stood up for his kith and kin, was incredibly disrespectful to women, had hedonistic and narcissistic tendencies, was an irresponsible king and hence was Adharma personified.
I totally echo what you said about the movie, but I slightly disagree on one point. For me, Arjuna played by Vijay Deverakonda was the highlight of the movie, along with Raja Sir. I believe that Vijay was spot-on as Arjuna, and no one could have played that role better than him. Firstly, his body frame is such that you could feel the presence of a warrior. He embodies the physicality and intensity required for the role. Secondly, given that his character was in the midst of a war, his aggressive dialogue delivery was entirely appropriate and added authenticity to his portrayal. If you look at his other movies where he plays a lover boy, Vijay effortlessly switches to a softer, more tender dialogue delivery. This versatility showcases his range as an actor and underscores why he was perfect for the role of Arjuna. As for the movie itself, I found it to be amazing. Instead of comparing it to Marvel and DC, I think we should appreciate the efforts of the team in creating such an incredible movie with stunning visuals and captivating entertainment. This film represents the start of a new era in filmmaking, and the dedication and hard work of everyone involved deserve recognition.
Nope disagree on Vijay he was quite tempered for a being who had been given Gyan of Geeta his portrayal was too angry for Arjun he was confident worrier not angry Vijay needs to align with his confident yet brutal side for Arjun to work read Mahabharata for Arjun's character you will know why people are saying Vijay was too agressive for Arjun.
In the interval block scene was metaphorical to bhairava’s character as he’s the reincarnation of karna . That subtle detail in the interval block was icing on the cake
If you see the tattoo on Prabhas’s arm, it is a Valknut which represents death and rebirth and also Odin to some extent. Some they were trying to imply that he is a reincarnation of someone but in the end we can put 2 and 2 together.
My Review : As a Telugu, I was tired of fake reviews filled on the internet, so I decided to write a real one myself. In Toronto , the Telugu version was Sold out so I watched the movie at a cineplex in Hindi. Here are my thoughts. First Half - Storytelling was boring, editing looked wayward and less than average. Music or songs did not make any sense. Cameos were jarring and did not help the story- It looked like director was wasting money because he could. Sets looked more like theatre sets of a drama on the big Cineplex screen. VFX looked basic, story or emotions seemed forced. I could not connect with anything going on the screen. The song with Disha Patani was really bad. Bhramanandam character comedy was sadly lost in translation, I love Bhramanandam and enjoyed his time on the screen, but this where I don't understand as to why Nag Ashwin had to put in Telugu movie formula cheesy stuff when he was doing a seriously big movie. Second Half- Things started getting better when Amitabh was on the screen, his larger than life persona and interplay with Prabhas was really the highlight of the movie. The Mahabharatha scenes looked beautiful but animating younger Amitabh took away the impact. Vijay deverkonda looked laughable as Arjun. The best scenes were that of Kamal Hassan - the Kali scene at the very end was SPECTACULAR. I think I went into the movie expecting the impact of Kali scene throughout but was disappointed. Deepika was decent as woman in distress , Shobhana looked beautiful but limited. Character Kyra was really refreshing while star wars type fights were boring. Please do something about the guns they looked like plastic toys. Harsh looked like a lost kid in a big movie. Pasupatti, Rajendra Prasad hardly had any impact. Mrunal Thakur looked gorgeous in her 3 mins. Also the major character reveal was spoilt by some foreshadowing. The world building and futuristic stuff was alright but looked majorly borrowed from star wars. Complex elevator and Transforming Car were some praiseworthy aspects. Frankly I went in expecting RRR or Bahubali type impact but what I got was more Bhairava Dweepam. Please do better in episode 2. Rewatch first half to learn what not to do again.
Here is my theory for a few characters. 1. Captain who raised a young Bhairava like his son would not sell him for units. There might be another reason which director might reveal in the sequel. 2. Mariam might have survived because Manas stabbed her near her shoulder. 3. Lilly the undercover agent who helped Sumathi might have got captured by Yaskin soldiers. 4. They might show backstory of Yaskin in the sequel. Nag Ashwin's version of Mahabharat is little different from Vyasa's Mahabharat.
I am super excited for part 2.... can't wait to see how the character arcs of Amitabh Bachchan Sir, Prabhas and Deepika progress and also who will eventually be Kalki❤
Jammy, This is my way of thinking that, "Ashwthhama and Karn were on the Adharm side in dwapar yuga and now they have got a chance to choose the way themselves and Ashwthhama has already chosen the Dharm side to redeem himself of the Paatak he had done in Dwapar by killing Uttara's unborn child. But the incarnation of Karna is yet to choose the side but he will be choosing the Dharm side just like Ashwthhama. May be Nag is showing that we all get a chance to choose the Dharm side, it's upon us that which side we are chosing. Kalki will be born in next part and there will be 7 cheeranjivi's helping Kalki to save the world. This is the simple way of showing the story as per purana's but Nag will not show it that way. He is may be thinking to show that the mankind only did so bad things that we only have given chance someone to become Kali who is now Supreme yaskin as may be in future Yaskin is thinking that he has got Gandiv and he is the chosen one who can change and rule the world but Child born as Kalki is going to change the thoughts of humans and they will try to get back the resources from complex and make the world like earlier but as the Kali is having hold on that the yuddha will be there for those resources and eventually many will die and the complex too will get destroyed and thus will be the end of the Kali Yuga. And may be there will be nothing left for anyone and there will be no one left too and then Satyug will start but may be it's like humans will be left only with Good thoughts and karmas and they will understand and will conserve resources and world will be different . And may be Nag is showing that even if Gandiv is with yaskin but it does not make him powerful. Arjun was on winning side because he was on Dharm's side and Krishna's side too as the God can never be on Adharm's side. So The only side of Dharma, the side of Kalki, even if it is without Gandiv will be the correct one and those who wants to redeem their past paataks can choose the side of Kalki.
Nani can be great as Lord Krishna. He definitely has that charm! People be seeking Mahesh Babu, Hrithick, Amir for Krishna, but if you go for actual resemblance with every aspect of Krishna, you'll feel Nani is a great match. However, YASKIN's character doesn't feel only to be just a dictator. His final version showed to be even more intriguing. He was having 6 hands, holding the Gandiva harmlessly and he mentioned specially about the impact of Jagannath rup of Vishnu.
Krishna is best off without a face imo, I loved this creative choice of the creators to actually not show krishna ji's face as it add levels of depth to the portrayal.
Amir Khan should never be even considered for any role in Mahabharata and our history related stories..he wantedly mocks and make fun of others religious scriptures especially hindus 😢
"Lack of emotional resonance" this is where i couldn't find a connection and hence couldn't indulge in to the world of kalki .... Even though rich visuals and the spectacular cast and performance without the connection its just a movie ... Hoping for the 2nd part will provide more justice...
While I respect Karn in every sese and having read the Mahabharta by Maharishi ved vyas (Gita press) what a lot of people forget that Arjuna in the war of Virat with Uttar as his Saarthi stopped the entire Kauravas alone he even defeated Bhishm pitamah and Karn in the combat of the war. Karn was without a shadow of a doubt a great warrior but at the same time right from their first face off till the donation of his kavach and kundal karn has used them to get away from several attacks by Arjun. Of course these are just my thoughts but the power of Arjun I feel has been subsidised in all the new renditions of mahabharat as well as the sequences of this movie. Don't forget the fact that Arjun possessed the pashupatastra which he obtained after a tough and intense worship of lord shiva even the greats such as bhishma and karn were never able to get hold of it. While a lot of karn's deeds are praisable but he was the one who initially called draupadi a vashya in the court and his ego because of his kavach and kundal was always sky high till the virat war. For me, it was Arjun who was far more superior in the knowledge of astra and even shahstra as well as a superior warrior.
You're forgetting that lord hanuman was present in the chariot of arjun during virat war. No astras were able to damage arjun's chariot due to the presence of lord hanuman. Both Arjun and karn countered many Astras of each other. Even if I leave the Kurukshetra war then in the war of Virat karn was made unconscious by Arjun in their second duel while in the first also karn took step back after facing defeat.

( As in scriptures, there is a mention of Parshurama training Kalki for battle)
And there is one more theory as well.
I genuinely wished they presented Dulquer in a more grand fashion. Like an able warrior. It was so unassuming.
You might be right about Kamal Haasan
Karna was trained by Kripacharya and Guru Drona too. But the dude was a poor student it seems.

Disha Patani is a marketting material.
I think there is more for this . Because if u remember their conversation in complex . Roxie tells Bhairava about the Power grid that supplies to Complex . This might actually come in handy for him to destroy Complex or Yaskin in next part!!!
Broke boy bhairava prolly can't afford the vr tour🤣🤣🤣

In that way it reduces the desire to get into the complex as one can hunt a bounty and get into the complex multiple times. It won't feel like the way it is now It will feel like Disneyland instead
My theory -
Prabhas being karna here makes sense bcoz krishna bhagwan gave both friends chance to fight for dharma..also in our scriptures every yuga when vishnu ji avatar banke aayenge tab baki gods ke ansh bhi aayenge sath sath jaise ki mahabharat mein arjun as ansh of indra dev surya putra karn then yudhishthir as ansh of yamraj also in Ramayana sugriv and bali...also his character and karn's character are very similar
Bujji can't reach complex in next part due to her wheel being out..captain sold prabhas so prabhas will want to be a good father figure..karn's birth was very interesting... vardan of surya dev..i think it's same for prabhas..his mother will be part of project k and was able to escape but she found herself in war landscape..she hid prabhas to save him.. captain then found him and named him bhairava bcoz they were in kashi...but prabhas real name is vishnu yash and then they all will fight yaskin (not kali but puppet of kali) trilogy will be made and then phase 2 exploring every chiranjeevi and kalki bhagwan
Vijay dhanush was given by shiv ji to pashruram bhagwan and then to karna..bhairava is reference to kaal bhairav so that's why he is also protector of kashi!!!!
This actually makes sense in many ways tbh

Well it's the Arjun who is the strongest has won every battle participated in . I would love to see the compilation ( or any extra footage) related to Mahabharat in this movie .
Some things that I noted while watching this movie is
Yeah arjun is the strongest among them,

Anyways, the second half, especially the last 45 minutes was sheer magic. I kind of predicted who Prabhas is in the scene before intermission where he stopped the wheel from falling. And when Aswatthama told he is using Vijaya as the walking stick I knew who Vairava is. Ohh how I loved the revelation scene. Can't wait for the second installment of this cinematic universe. Only thing I want the makers to give Karna a happy ending in this birth. No more tragedy for this man please 😊

heyy Jammy loving the love for the movìe ❤ I'm gonna watch it couple of times more too..just a small correction on your video at 1:14..The attack on Uttara's womb was not just an attack on the Pandavas future but rather an attack on the entire Kuru clan's sole hope for a future..Of course the story differs from the Mahabharata anyway because in the Mahabharata both Arjun and Ashwatthama unleashed the Brahmastra..that act prompted the heavens to speak out, declaring that unleashing that weapon would cause the destruction of the world itself so they both were asked to recall that weapon..Arjun was able to recall his weapon but Ashwatthama hadn't bothered to learn recalling his weapons and hence was asked to redirect it..and that's why his punishment was greater than Arjun..his unthinking act could have destroyed the world and even when asked to mitigate his thoughtless rage could have resulted in the end of the sole heir of the entire Kuru clan (Kauravas, Pandavas and the Panchalas)..I hope the film prompts the younger generations to read if not the original work then atleast the Hindi version or the excellent English one by Kisari Mohan Ganguly :)

Bujji's origins also explain - it was an AI engine found in the trash by Bhairava - why was it tracked? I am all convinced that Bujji is working for evil.
very interesting plot point..

Exactly vijay is what i imagine Arjuna to look like ...i was really excited and mesmerizing how real and compelling arjuna looked
I agree! I really loved him as Arjun! His costume was on point yarr! 😍😍

The Ashwathama song my god it was soo good I swear I shed a Tear watching it
In the interval block scene was metaphorical to bhairava’s character as he’s the reincarnation of karna . That subtle detail in the interval block was icing on the cake
I think Sumati might have a Draupadi connected background... The not burning and emerging out of the fire part was so Draupadi coded
Also the parallel of Sumati being dragged by Manas
If you see the tattoo on Prabhas’s arm, it is a Valknut which represents death and rebirth and also Odin to some extent. Some they were trying to imply that he is a reincarnation of someone but in the end we can put 2 and 2 together.
60 % of shooting of part 2 is completed. Confirmed by producer

My Review :
As a Telugu, I was tired of fake reviews filled on the internet, so I decided to write a real one myself.
Hrithik and amir seriously 😂
nani is ok but these two🫠
Krishna is best off without a face imo, I loved this creative choice of the creators to actually not show krishna ji's face as it add levels of depth to the portrayal.
Bro yaskin is duryodhana ...prabhas is karn...two best friends of mahabharat will fight against each other to protect the vishnu avatar...
Also you're forgetting karna wasn't using his Vijaya dhanush.
Karna countered arjun's bhramastra with normal arrows also karna had bhargvastra which couldn't be countered.
@@Blockoffice-ru4fs karna used vijay dhanush on 17th day of the war when it was him vs Arjun. Karn had immense knowledge no denying neither can one deny him being one of the greats talking about brhamastra karn was not able to counter it completely as Arjun's brhamastra surrounded his chariot completely killing many army men and the Astra was later called back by Arjun. Both Arjun and karn countered many Astras of each other. Even if I leave the Kurukshetra war then in the war of Virat karn was made unconscious by Arjun in their second duel while in the first also karn took step back after facing defeat.
Ps: in no way am I saying that karn wasn't powerful enough but Arjun with an ordinary chariot defeated the army of kauravas in the war of Virat. The capabilities of Arjun has been shown limited and someone who's very overconfident of his knowledge which wasn't the truth. Arjun was one of the most humble and respectful person when it comes to learning something and respecting the capabilities of others. The modern renditions Have shown him overconfident and arrogant at best
Exactly! Someone knows it! Peeps need to get a hand on BORI and Geeta press fr!
@@theincarnatedsoul1202 actually he did counter it with his normal arrows and those arrows even pierced bhim and other maharthis.
And in *Virat war karna didn't use vijay dhanush also in virat war arjun's chariot was indestructible due to presence of lord hanuman.
@@Blockoffice-ru4fs In Virat war Arjun used chariot of uttar with the symbol of Virat kingdom, and karna never countered the brahmastra bro read the ved Vyas Rachit mahabharat
Bhai kalki laid the new foundation of cinema it raises the bar very high and for everyone who watched the movie The Indian cinema will known before KALKI and after KALKI. Hatsvoff to writer director and producer for investing in our history and gloryify to the world.
It would be so cool, to have all he Cheeranjevis from all the yugas to be the next parts as guides or mentors for these characters. Imagine a situation in which Supreme Yaskin just comes up with his weapon about to kill Ashwathama and all of a sudden, Hanuman and Parshuram enter the field to stop yaskin. Just imagine a situation in which Ved Vyass explains the stories, the yugas, the balance of right and wrong of the world to Bhairava, an important opportunity for him as Karna to be on the right side of the battle this time. Just so cool.
