I was going to buy the diaper again. But, I ended up buying the same one you have for $20 more. The installation went flawlessly and took 15 minutes. Thanks for your help!!!!
I replaced mine a few years back with a Raptor cover. There were millions of these trucks sold between 2016-2019 and they all have this same problem. I cant understand why an aftermarket company has not made a bolt-on replacement out of HDPE plastic with a drain port so it does not need to be removed every 3000 miles. The steel Raptor cover is bad-ass but mine has rusted and I also hear vibrations no matter how tight those backing nuts are tightened. The HDPE plate would be ideal and there is a large market out there but nobody makes them.
Thank you for doing this. I have a 2020 F150 and have the same issue. Bought the metal Raptor guard a few months ago the zip ties just gave out so it’s time to install the metal one. Your video is great and straight forward. Thanks.
I replaced the diaper with this part you listed. On my 21 f150 XL the front frame brackets don’t line up. So I installed 6 of eight bolts. I may have to fabricate a couple of brackets since I won’t modify the frame. Working fine so far.
Thank you! Very helpful. I just finished my installation and was flawless on my 2020 Platinum. If fact I didn't have the issue with the last bolt that you did. Mine mounted perfectly to the two previous front mounting points. Thanks again!
I have a 2019 2.7 Ecoboost XLT and this plate fit perfectly. You have to purchase 2 extra bolts and nuts which are the #'s he provided. There is a open space at the front that you can see the drain plug. I'm going to install a Ronin drain plug and hopefully I can get my hand in there to drain it without taking the shield off. Also the raptor plate was cheaper than the original fibre cover.
You probably wouldn't want to change the oil with the plate still on unless you want to do some modifications to the plate - I pinned a link to an update video at the top of the comments if you want to see the drain plug in relation to the plate or you can click here: ua-cam.com/video/IJB8TFO41dk/v-deo.html
Thank you for the vid! Jus did my 2020. You can get away using the existing 8mm's but you have to heave the plate up and hold it so the bolt can catch. ... I did think I was missing something as the fiber/felt one sort of slots in between the 2 8mm anchor points, where the metal one doesn't. As far as I can tell, the metal just fits over top (?)
Hey dude, nice video. I just did the same thing to my 2021 lariat with a 2.7. Have not done an oil change yet. Can u get away with not removing the whole plate?

I’ve seen that several people have asked if this needs to be removed to change the oil, however I don’t see a written response. Does it have to be removed to change the oil?

Guys, I have a standard cab 2020 F150 with the 6’ bed. When I tried to install this metal replacement, I found I did not have the frame holes needed to attach the forward most side brackets. The rear brackets and forward screws look like they’d match but not the additional side brackets. Thoughts?
Any update on what you chose to do? I've got a 2019 2.7L XLT SuperCab and noticed I don't have the front side mounting holes either. I haven't ordered the metal guard yet, so I'm wondering what I should do. I found someone on a forum with a newer F-150 without those holes say they're fine with just the smaller ones in the front and the ones in the rear. Still would like more opinions, though.
@@IMissBionix Good morning! Yep, I know what you mean! I had the same issue but decided to use the forward mounting brackets; just didn't want to chance it by using just the smaller two front holes and the rear two side brackets....though I was likely being overly cautious! What I did was to mount the plate using the two front and two rear attachment points, and marked the location of where frame holes should be for the two forward side brackets. I then removed the plate, and used "rivnuts" to create attachment points. If you've never used these rivnuts, look them up!!! So after the rivnuts arrived, I selected two 3/8" units, drilled a 33/64" hole where I marked the frame, installed the rivnuts, and reinstalled the entire plate. This was VERY easy to do, and gives me peace of mind! Credit to a guy from the F-150 forum for putting me on to this solution.....please don't hesitate to ask questions!
@@MeShoo-c5p I appreciate the info. I'm not sure I feel too comfortable drilling holes into the frame, but if I don't have a choice ... How are oil changes with this setup? I read someone talk about how their rivnuts would just spin when trying to take the plate out.
I’m sure you’ll have nothing to worry about by drilling a single hole through the outer face of the H frame. Though this would need to be done on both sides in able to attach the forward side brackets of the plate, consider this…MANY heavier and similar size F-150’s already have holes in the areas we’re discussing, so structural integrity should not be a concern. Besides, the holes can be easily drilled with the truck sitting flat. Any rivnut spinning issues is simply a matter of the rivnut not being tightened properly during installation. Truly, the whole installation, from start to finish shouldn’t take more than an hour! As for oil changing, the plate can be pivoted down on the loosened rear bolts, but just as easily removed totally. Let me know if you have any questions!
Mine was being a huge pain especially with being in northern Michigan and it being wet for months at a time. I do a lot of hunting and off roading so I ended up going with RCI skids all the way back to the transfer case and then one on the gas tank. Why would you make an oil pan and transmission pan out of plastic oh sorry “polymer” I’ve had the oil pan warp twice now and needed to be replaced
Allen!! Welcome back bud. 1 suggestion get blue locktite put a couple of drops on each bolt 🔩 if you don't you might lose them and that cover could fall off and then you might have a bigger problem with all the damage. Can this be used on a 2019 XLT Supercab 3.3 engine
The bolts and nuts only cost me $12. I wonder why yours were so expensive? I live in Jacksonville, Fl.
Bought the bolts from a dealer who has been slowly jacking up prices... I've started going to a different one since this video was made.
Will this will work for a 2023 F150 XLT, 3.5L Ecoboost, supercab? Great video too.
I contacted Ford dealership and they looked it up by Vin.
I just looked and it doesn't look like I have a cover at all on my 2023 XLT. Does look like the holes are there for the bolts
I've heard that some have been able to make it work, but some people have said things weren't lining up for them. I'm not 100% sure.
You're a legend. Thanks for this video
👍 as for it rusting ? what do you think about maybe to get it sprayed a few coats of “rhino guard” ? 🤷🏻
If I lived in the rust belt, I'd definitely coat it with something, since there's an opportunity for salt to collect on it.
I am looking up that part number. It’s showing two straps for bolts on one side and only one strap on the other side.
