I stopped the learning on my trans. It's in my 2023 F150. I'm trilled with how it shifts now!! It shifts almost like the six speed in my BMW! It's so much better imo than with the learning bull crap on! I cleared the learning tables then turned off learning altogether. I then started driving around the area easy at first for 10 mins or so then drove it normal for a while. After that I drove spirited and it keeps getting better and better with the shifts. I'm very happy now with my new truck!! The dumb shifting trans crap has bothered me since I got it!!! Thanks for the video! P.S. IMO the tranny just gets used to not having the leaning crap on interfering with shifts for a few minutes then works great!!! Kinda like new brake shoes bedding in. Hell yeah!!
I reset adaptive learning and halted adaptive learning. Truck shifts much better. I have noticed that halt adaptive learning may not actually stop the adaptive learning. I seem to have to reset adaptive learning every few months. I have 2 of my boys that drive the truck more than I do, so their driving habits with the 5.0 and sport mode are considerably different than mine. LOL! I have used this adaptive learning reset on a few friends trucks and they agree their trucks shift much better after the reset.
I just did this on my 2019 Platinum. Shifted really good to begin with. If not looking at the gear indicator, I would not have known it shifted sometimes. What I did notice after clearing the tables and disabling learning mode is that I can manipulate upshift/downshift somewhat with the pedal. It just seem that the trans is doing what I tell it to do instead of what the learned tables thinks it should be doing. If that makes sense.
Yes I understand you. Sounds like it made an improvement for you? I’m currently running with learning disabled and doing a video on my experience with it. How do you like it so far with it off?
@@SmackeysGarage its only been a few days and about 100 miles but so far so good. Tried it on a couple of 6-7* inclines and it seems to really respond to pedal input better when I want a gear change. Seems easier to just get a 1 gear downshift instead of 2 or sometimes 3 on a climb.
There is a ford specific scan tool that works very similarly to forscan that allows adaptive learning resets and disabling. I drive a 2015 taurus sho and ive done about 8 kam resets and my car never learns the shift points correctly. I drove a 2018 explorer sport a couple months back with similar shift issues. The problem with adaptive transmission learning is it CAN learn bad habits and can be really frustrating for the owner. In my opinion the idea of the transmission learning to shift based on user input is kind of redundant. I feel the tcm should be calibrated from the factory to ALWAYS shift smooth no matter what and throttle input shouldn't be the prime factor influencing shift quality. I ordered my Launch Creader x431 scan tool and hoping to have my tcm learning disabled early next year.
Interesting. Do you know the name of the ford specific scan tool? Or if you remember it let me know. I did a video recently on using FORScan to turn off the adaptive learning. So far so good with it.

I have the same OBD Link adapter and the extended license for Forscan, but it says the service procedure that clears transmission adaptive table is unavailable on a 2007 Ford Expedition. Any ideas?
I don't have any experience with it. I'd make a post on the forum for trucks / SUVs of that year. Maybe it isn't editable, or what is most likely the case, you need to change something in the hex digits to disable it.
It's covered under my warranty. It hasn't been fixed yet been waiting two months to get in . They told me to just keep driving it until they get the parts. Maybe I'll get a trans if this one blows up,
I have to do this every couple months. Truck seems to want to shift to higher gears too soon. I wish we could just disable the transmissions adaptive learning permanently.
I’ve seen people do it with some workarounds. Check out the forums. I didn’t attempt it because it seemed like it was hit or miss. The software is made for a pc
I have recently purchased the OBD cable and downloaded the Forscan software. My problem is when I connected both, then turned the key on, light is green, but nothing showing up on the screen like shown in your video. When I started the engine, with both connected, I had a list of things show up, and all looked good. However, there was no option to clear the transmission like you showed. What am I doing wrong? My transmission is a 6-speed and not the 10-speed like yours.
Ditto on my 2019. 4,500 miles outside of powertrain warranty. Extended warranty covered $750 of a $4,900 full trans overhaul. Report stated low fluid. Well, it was filled that way from the factory. No love from Ford.

Forscan and the cable linked in the description.

I believe there is a way to do that. Should be on the same screen as the clear pcm on the latest version of Forscan. I’ll double check tomorrow.
