- In this video I take an in depth look at the new (to the UK) @fluval Siena aquarium sets. Very similar to their Shaker range of aquariums these come with everything you need and the great thing is, it's all great quality Fluval gear.
We set this aquarium up as a pufferfish community aquarium several weeks ago with @MDFishTanks and it has performed amazingly well. It currently houses Barbs, Danios, Glass fish and of course the puffers. The Fluval 407 and Fluval Plant Pro lighting has been brilliant, I can't wait until the fish grow and the plants mature!

Stunning aquarium, so ultra modern and aesthetically pleasing. Love that fluval gives you a canister filter as part of the tank kit. Do love the concrete version it's just so appealing. Great review Matt 👍

Overall I think this aquarium looks good especially in the concrete option. The part I don’t like is the pipe work going through the bottom of the tank, not because I’m worried about it leaking but more because I like to run the input and output at opposite ends of the aquarium. Great video Matt.
Yeah I can appreciate that thought, I'm yet to have a stagnating issue at the opposite end.
I think the filters are slightly more efficient because they don't have to pump up and over, I suppose you could put a small powerhead or airstone at the other end to provide the aquarium with a bit more circulation.
It’s actually better to have them on the same end. The flow goes over the intake and swoops back in touching more of the aquarium than if the intake was on the other side, essentially leaving the side below the outtake with no or low flow.

So nice to see you in a video without MD. You are a really good communicator. Also, you actually have a sense of humor. You know when and how to use it. Some people don't belong behind a camera, especially after a few pints. It can get pretty obnoxious. Your knowledge, vocabulary and personality are just what a fish channel needs. That is why I appreciate your channel much more.

This tank looks awesome and your review is top notch. I love my Fluval Shaker, I was sceptical at first with the drilled pipes but it's actually easier, quieter and more compact. Great designs by fluval!
I just have to keep working on the wife for that 7 foot tank!

I have the Roma 240. I think its awesome. I must admit, the thought of the filter pipes coming through the bottom of the tank did scare me, but its brilliant. Once you connect it and fill with water gravity primes it for you. I swapped the light to a fluval plant. Love that too. I do prefer the slide lid on the siena. Looks really sturdy. Especially because I have a cat. I run the 307 filter. Also fantastic so i can assume the 407 is just as good. As always, another great video Matt. Keep up the good work

@@FishShopMattive a roma 240, 200 & 125 there good tanks but im looking to upgrade to one of these due to that extra width. Will make for a deeper feild of view. Not quite aslong but seem better proportioned.

Main thing that puts me off this tank, and other "through the bottom" tanks is the position of the filter tubes. If they were on the left side I'd really consider this tank, as the viewing angles in my house would be front and right side. Good info as always though!!
Yeah I can see that now that if you need to put it in a certain corner of a room it may stop you. ❤️❤️❤️
@@FishShopMatt the only tank package I've seen that has the filter on the left is the highline series, but the price increase just to have that feature compared to a "normal" tank doesn't seem worth it
In Canada the 407 comes with the 272L and the fx4 comes with the 332L

I wonder if Fluval will ever implement the heater into the filter like Oase do. I'd find it difficult using a filter without a heater now.

I do hope that they will do something with an external heater, I would quite like a heater that is setup a little like their uv so you can just install it inline.
Great video Matt. Your video with MD helped me make the decission so decided to get this set (was torn between this and Oase's 300 but could not come to terms with price).
It arrived last week and as Matt says it is amazing, really happy with quality and finish. Cabinet has a lot of space for all your different gubbins. Personally upgraded filter to FX6 for an extra £50. All stem pipework fits the bigger filter tubbing. Lights are great too and you can control them through the app.
It does feel more 3D🤣

@Shane Got mine from Lincs Aquatics, but other reputable retailers can do the deal too, just need to call them. The upgrade might be slightly more expensive as price of FX6 has since gone up.

Although I won’t be buying a new tank for a while (I don’t have anymore space lol) I hope once it’s time for a new setup they have these in America. I buy all my tanks and equipment separately so if I bought a full setup I’d want it to be high quality for the price.

I really like these siennas, Fluval has really put a lot of thought into this tank. I had my heart set on one of these for my new tank but after checking the finances I've had to reevaluate🤣 and had to settle for the Roma 200 instead😏😏 oh well definitely next time I will get one. the Fluval plant 3.0 are great lights I just bought one a couple weeks back upgrading from the fresh and plant 2.0 and that light has been a great light but a few yrs old now.great video mat.

Great video Matt! I don't usually buy new tanks, but these are very nice indeed. I don't like that Fluval have reduced the length comparatively, but I understand why they have done it.
I really liked the Osaka that they manufactured years ago, but they discontinued it because they (allegedly) couldn't keep up with demand.
Thank you, yeah I get you on the dimensions. I think it may also have something to do with shipping and not using oversized pallets.
The Osaka was an amazing tank, it was really different to anything else on the market at the time. If it was released now with LED lights and a drilled base with external it would be amazing!!!
@@FishShopMatt I've got my eye out for a second hand one, they come up now and again.
I'm pretty handy with electronics, so would probably be able to convert the existing light over to LED myself.
Not sure my nerves could take drilling it for a sump/under cabinet canister though.
@@andreashessler838 yeah well worth keeping an eye out. To be fair if they have the old hanging rail with it you could just use a LED suspension kit to hang whatever lights you wanted above it. Also with the filter you could just go up and over the back, maybe get some nice glass inlet and outlets to make it as swish as the tank.

Overall I like the tank but the pipework limits your placement. It'll always have to be some form of triangular composition coming from the right if you want to hide the tech. Heater should've been in the canister filter as well. In any case, thanks for the great vid Matt. Keep em coming :)
Yeah it is a little limiting, I do hope Fluval get an external heater at some point soon would fill a hole in the range. ❤️❤️❤️
I was considering this tank once it is available in the US as it seems like a really great price for what you get. In terms of the pipework, if you wanted to hide it theoretically couldn't you just hook it up to some generic piping and route it wherever you want in the tank and then hide it with hardscape (instead of using the included hard plastic pipe/spout)

Great filter. Only issue I have is the grey connection pieces. They really stick out in the tank.

Love the video. Why don't you put a PURIGEN seachem sachet in the external filter 100g will do 400 litres. Honestly that water will be crystal clear in no time. It gives the aquarium a high def look . I've always used this in my aquariums ,it makes a big difference.
I use purigen at home but am currently waiting for more to turn up at the shop ☹️ hopefully won't be long ❤️

This model comes with an FX4, my setup did so you would definitely be able to put an FX2 on it
Fluval is a good company. Hard to think they are still using the same names and numbers but looks a bit different. My friend is still using the 407 I bought in 1990 as a pass through bioball canister. Not powered. He is also using my Marineland Magnum hang on back that is a bit older (Still Working). I used that when I was renting tanks as a DE polisher. Have to get clear water fast when people are paying for the looks. I have had a few newer products from both companies but I think they are a bit more after sale thinking now. Fluval less so then Mainland. There are a few other companies out there that are starting to step up but I still use Aquaclear just with a internal pump instead of their pump. No issues with restarts and a prefilter. Slightly less LPH but hey I can run the full size one and not send the fish into a whirlpool.

Spoke to Matt about this tank in December …. Needing to upgrade due to a Pygmy Cory population explosion (from 8 - 130 in a few months). Was very informative then. I’ve been doing more research on various aquariums and have to admit this is still my number one choice.

I got a great video idea, or that's at least what I think. What if Matt reviewed our fishtanks? His community is not that big at the moment, so it should be possible. ANd maybe he can make a discord server for his subscribers to submit their tanks in. I don't know if this is possible, but it's just a sugestion. He could make a whole series out of this.

I watched the setup on MD's channel and really liked the look of it. So I went looking online for one of these. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be available on California. Maybe someday. They did seem to show up in the the north-eastern US - New England - however.

It's a beautiful looking set, but I can understand why they don't have clear silicone. Also not sure if it's an option but it would be great if they offered the tanks with the in/outlet on the left hand side.

I have been reading several fishkeeping forums and comments on UA-cam and there's a few on there saying that the 407 filter thats included in this is not enough to run on a 332L (73 gallon) aquarium. Was looking at buying one but just worried the filter will be inadequate for it and if i should upgrade to something like the fx6? What do you think. Thank you

We made a small bracket behind the aquarium and used a spare light unit that just sat in place, wouldn't need to be anything special maybe just some cheap LEDs and have a play.
Do you have a way to stop the siphon during power outage? I heard some filter cannister leaked and emptied the hole tank.

Hello Matt. I recently saw a video with you and the MD Fish Tank guy where you guys were setting up a tank.
One of you put Aqua Soil or some other plant soil in Media Bags in the tank, then covered it with substrate. I thought about that and thought that that would be a great idea and less messy.
So, I purchased a bag of Fuval Stratum and a box of Aquatic Peat to lessen the what evers since our local water is a bit hard. I bought 3 large bags and filled them a bit accordingly with the mix. Then I stitched them up with nylon thread, then trimmed the extra away. I then used a lighter to singed the ends to prevent fraying and to contain the soil-peat mix.
They are awesome looking tanks although I wish fluval would step away from the black silicone. I suppose it acts as a frame but I like a cleaner look.
I'm very much on the fence with clear or black silicone. Both have their pros and cons, clear can be a nightmare to keep clean.
wheres the best place to put a heater? near the filter, or t'other ide of the tank?
is it possible to have the downpipe as an overflow i.e. taking water off the top?
Is possible to instal Oase biomaster 850 to this setup? i thinking to buy just i prefer Oase filter

Ridiculous price on these and to think people would run a 407 over a fx4 or fx6 is even more ridiculous. I just don't understand fluval sometimes
Agree 407 no where near enough for this tank. No option to upgrade the filter either. Gonna stick with my roma 240lt running 2 406s for now. There just two many negatives for me to spend that amount of money, which is a shame because it does look really nice and the extra width is what im after. The main issue is the glass shelves which prevents running 2 external filters. Totally useless and just add extra weight. Use better glass if it needs extra strengh other companys can make bigger tanks than this without needing those added.
Does anybody know, Can the silver trim be removed from the glass?
