My husband and I highly appreciate that you’re cooking in an average American style kitchen. I’m tired of high end appliances, huge counter spaces, and fridges the size of rocket ships. Your videos make me feel empowered to cook simple things while also not making me feel like I’m poor and pathetic with my dinky kitchen. I think cooking shows/videos are getting very eclectic with their fancy settings where most of us are making just above minimum wage living in simple apartments and just want to cook delicious, cheap, and healthy.
Absolutely agree ❤️🌿
totally relate to this and agree!
Yes. When a presenter is like " You need an automatic ice-cream maker and a marble dough board.." I'm like...guuurl I have 2 cabinets, slow down.
@@owlislike haha, for real. I have to keep some of my small appliances in other rooms because there's no space in my small kitchen.
Hermione Benson lmao yes - we have to hook our rice cooker up next to the outlet by our bed because our studio kitchen space is so tiny
"We made seven total dishes." No, June. YOU made seven total dishes.
Plus gravy and cranberry sauce😋
Exactly.
The viewers making these dishes and herself?
It's just the way women talk. We love to be inclusive and we use "we" and "us" a lot as a general word such as "it". It doesn't literally mean that they both cooked. It just means that she's being friendly.
I just love her. It doesn't matter what she's cooking. I think I love her personality. I love how she's always so close to the camera and acts so natural. This girl is awesome.
Why so close?? Sometimes I find it a little jarring.
I just discovered this channel and she is freaking awesome. From what I see in the comments, there are other cooks on here but I guess they don't compare.
@@laurenbelen1116 by doing that, she shows us her complete transparency, blemishes and beautiful smiles and all!
Can we take a moment to appreciate how clean June's stove is???
5 star kitchen.
How does she manage??!
Facts!!!!
Yasssssssss!!!
Hopefully Aaron does that
I really enjoy June’s utter lack of pretension, it’s just creativity, talent, and love of yummy food.
Aaron is legit the luckiest guy in the world. June’s cooking is like magic.
Your absolutely right.
True, although apparently he prefers to eat cherries doused in olive oil, poppadoms with syrup and coat everything in chilli powder 😅
I was thinking this exact thing the whole video...
Werd
@@Imru_gamer you're right! 😉
"I cooked so much I don't even want to eat anymore." Congratulations, June, you have reached peak Thanksgiving. That's what it's all about!
I get the sense that June struggles with imposture syndrome and does not know the depth of her talent. I don't pay for anything but I would pay to watch her cook and even more to try it 😋June, you're awesome!
*imposter
@@shannakelly490 is it a joke or you're just trying to correct imposture-
her posture seems pretty good
Delish better cover a chiropractor for June given that she’s carrying the entire channel
Hahahaha best comment.
😂😂
lmao
😆 you're not wrong
Word👍👏
June, I hope you're negotiating for a higher salary, considering how clear the comments are about you being the only reason we're all subscribed. We will follow you if you start your own channel or go somewhere else -- get a raise! :)
👏👏👏👏 love the support for June. Absolutely 💯million % deserving.
Aaron needs to appreciate this effort more. June has been in the kitchen for two days and he says "I'm only gonna eat...." nah you gonna eat all this MF food.
i'm pretty sure they are in some kind of relationship
@@hannylini5144 did you not watch the whole video? He gave an entire monologue of how proud he was of her.
She is amazing! She totally blew my mind! Wow! I totally agree! She needs to get PAID!!!
When June started flipping the Brussel sprouts in a CAST IRON PAN... with ONE HAND... that's when I think I fell in total love. She's amazing!
Those things are heavy man. I can hardly move mine to a different burner using one hand. She's awesome
@@MzCAGOMEA That's why she was amazed lol and I think you meant two hands?
I've now binged all of June's budget eats in 2 days and I can safely say she's the best food youtuber this year
yes she definetly deserves youtuber of the year award
Totally my goal this week. I’m determined to make this meal almost in its entirety whilst bingeing June’s mastery in the kitchen and drinking a copious amount of red wine. 🍷🌶🌶
June needs her own channel
@@madisonk5545 she has one. it's called junelikethemonth
June is the only reason I'm subscribed.
SAMEEEEE
Yep, me too👍😊😊
Same here!
Same!
Yes sir
I hope June gets paid a very nice salary plus a percentage of the profit her videos make because she's the only reason most of us have subscribed to Delish. The day she decides to venture out on her own we will follow her. She's the best 😊
Yes ! Yes! Yes!
I have already subscribed to her UA-cam channel in hopes that one day she will post some. 😅
I only watch June on Delish
Agreed!
I didn't even realise it wasn't just her channel!
June if you ever break up with him I will be here waiting. I'll write epic poems about your creativity and talents.
bruh
My starting dowry has been set at 16 alpacas, 6 goats, 4 cows, 10 acres fertile land, 200 jars of peanut butter, and 500 bags of TJ's cheese crunchies. May the highest bidder win.
What is wrong with you?
@@im_a-walking_shitpost_machine you're the only person I've seen online w family clan name as your last name 🙄 maybe we are related
Haha
Aaron needs to appreciate this effort more. June has been in the kitchen for two days and he says "I'm only gonna eat...." nah you gonna eat all this MF food.
I will say this verbatim to him next time, thank you.
@@thank9stars I don't believe it's really June...
@@opalskyartwork 🤷♀️ and I don't believe in Santa Claus, cheers 🥂
That angered me briefly...until he started loading his plate up. He tried everything! So...joking, perhaps?
@@cc-sb1is joking is Aaron's default mode
Can there be an episode where there is NO budget and June can use WHATEVER ingredient she wants?!?!?!
I SECOND THIS!!! lover her budget series but the girl deserves a break.
Nah man.I like seeing what magic she can pull from basically nothing
Or even adjust her budget for the high cost of living in NYC. The one episode I watched she bought eggs for almost $4.50 a dozen!!! They are around $1.20 a dozen here near Pittsburgh at the store. I only pay $3/dozen from the local organic farms even
@@VallanaTrue even $25 for a day!
Idk if Youve watched June’s live streams but she wouldnt even want to spend a lot for ingredients loll
I can relate when you finished cooking, “I don’t even feel like eating it”
👏👏😂😂 that is how i feel too most of the time,
Omg i screamed SAAAAAME 😂😂😂😂 everytime i finished cooking 😂
That’s me after I finish cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I’ve been smelling it and buried in it all day. Ugh! No. Not hungry. 😂
Cooked my first xmas dinner last year and that's EXACTLY how I felt. Enjoyed it more reheated the next day!
I can relate to this as well. If I cook for a long time I always feel like eating something else that day, then eating whatever took forever the next day...
When Aaron said he was only going to eat 2 things- I felt like I was going to have a heart attack from the rage!
anti-aaron gang
no when he says every time that none of the food is spicy enough, that kills me!!!
Right?! I didn't even make that food but I felt my blood pressure go up lol
With every video I watch, my dislike for Aaron’s attitude grows.
i dislike his attitude so much
I’m mad at myself for giving Delish another view after they fired June, but I still love her content, and idk how to get through the season without watching this. Delish, you suck. June, you rule.
June calling all of us asian americans out on how we don't even like turkey LMAOOO
Lmaoooo yeah I only eat ham no turkey
You are not alone! Nobody likes turkey- because it gets too dry unless you baste it constantly. That’s why almost everyone on the west coast brines and deep fries it these days- usually outside. I’m going to try the instant pot this year.
It's all about that honey baked ham for thanksgiving
She’s right... turkey is awful..lol just saying!😝😂😂
@@antheaholmes9431 I like Chinese roast duck :D
I see anything with June, I stop, grab snacks and a drink, and hunker down for an awesome video! I absolutely LOVE her!
If I could be friends with anyone on UA-cam, June would be my FIRST choice.
Facts.
I saw the notification and I stopped everything to watch it
Dam right!
I’m only subscribed to this channel for June. She’s just amazing,
same
Budget challenge aside, this woman’s cooking skill and creativity are amazing to watch. Wow.
Getting rosemary for 1$ is an insane deal, none of my grocery stores have herbs that cheap sadly : (
You probably don't have small green groceries around you
What it's too expensive
Frozen herbs works just as well and tend to be cheaper.
They use utensils like my 10 year old nephew. Maybe sit down.
So much work!!!
June and Sohla are the new queens of the UA-cam food universe.
MAKE THAT CROSSOVER HAPPEN
@@hypernature YES THIS. They have such similar yet individual chill improvisation energy and are both my faves. I want a crossover so bad.
They actually remind me of each other because they both have shows with very difficult challenges and they often make them more difficult just for funsies.
STUMP SOHLA AND JUNE! LOL!
We stan these two Asian American queens!
I love the “use everything” approach to food; as someone on a pretty intense budget I have been very creative with my cooking and I love the ideas I get from June! Great series
RIGHT?!?! I especially love June making broth with scraps as opposed to going out to buy fresh new items just to boil them & discard them!
I save all my scraps in the freezer & make broth that's just as good (if not better) as an expensive one!
My Polish immigrant grandmother taught me how to make anything from whatever she had. She fed a family of 9 through the Depression.
My wasband used to say, "This is delicious. Let's have it again."
I'd laugh. I didn't follow recipes, but used them as idea starters.
"You can never step into the same river twice," I'd say.
That's why he became my wasband.
@@creepyspookyicky Same here!!!
Jume would slay on “Chopped”
I was thinking the same!
No, because they have ridiculously short time limits. She's into taking time and layers of flavor. She's better than them
This guy really came in after all she did like "I'm only gonna eat these two." Literally the only thing he brought to the table was the audacity.
ima comment cuz i feel this
“Some things look better than others”
Shut up dude.
This comment is everything lmao
“ this all looked better on a plate somehow “ 🙄 excuse me it looked frigging amazing while she was cooking and especially whilst she was cooking
I can’t stand him. Literally every episode he’s in, he drives me nuts. I get he’s honest or whatever but really dude? She just slaved in the kitchen for 2 days…you can’t feign appreciation a little more?
Ahh we get two of June’s budget series in a week. I haven’t even started to watch but already so excited
It's quite possibly the best week EVAR.
This is the official petition for June to get her own show on Netflix, UA-cam, SOMEWHERE!!!!!!!......
The way June carries the whole channel with one series. Her power
We gonna talk about how this girl is a culinary mastermind? This was one of the best things I’ve watched in years.
I'M HYPERVENTILATING nothing is better than June. The glue that holds Delish together
Right? Not even alpacas.
YES!!!
June is my actually favorite, she is so creative and innovative.
Aaron “Did you make this chili oil or is it one of the 15 jars we have in the fridge” LOL yes
Sigh. Aaron. What’s there to say. June loves him so🤷🏽♀️Lol
June looks so pretty with her hair down. She's already adorable af, but her hair down look is everything.
Crazy but the savory pumpkin pie you did, is actually eaten a lot in France. It is called "quiche au potimarron" or quiche au potiron and it normally has pumpkin, cream, eggs, onions and some type of cheese to gratin. It is delicious!
So a squash/pumpkin quiche? I don't think I've ever seen that version before, how interesting! I'm guessing the texture is probably thicker than a regular (as in plain, Lorraine, mushrooms or broccoli, etc) quiche then, since the squash is pureed?
No way! Thanks for the info!!
After watching June eating her husband diet for an entire week, I can not take any of his judgements seriously.
June, watching you makes me feel like I don’t know one thing about cooking. I want to just scrap everything I’ve ever learned about how to cook and replace it with your culture, experience and talent!!! I love how you don’t waste one thing when you cook...I feel ashamed at how much I toss because I have no clue what else to do with it! 😟🤷♀️ Thank you for sharing your talent!!! ❤️
Delish better be giving June a raise she’s the only reason we all watch this channel
25$ budget + 1000$ labor = class act banquet.
Amazing job, June ♥
I hope june is being paid for all the work she's doing including camera work... recipe development... being the host... not to mention all the clean up after...
"Senior Food Producer" is literally the first line in the video description (probably because there's always a ton of these comments on every one of her videos now, because of BA...). That generally means you've gotten a few raises. Last year she was listed as kitchen manager in some of her videos, which would also not have been entry level pay. (AFAIK Sohla was being paid for an entry level non-video job at BA.)
@@xiola i'm saying she's doing a lot more than just being a senior food producer. the job scope would be a lot wider when working from home and she has to cover other aspects like filming on her own.
@@arieltan3078 yeah but the company is also going through the pandemic so it's not like she's the only one struggling. it's understandable if she isn't receiving a bonus now out of all times.
peter griffin's " shut up, Meg" is now "shut,up Aaron" to me.😂
“they all look great, junie” 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
One of the many reasons I love watching June is because she will SEASON her food, okay?!!
I can't stand watching people who just use salt and pepper and call it a day.
I've never seen a UA-camr just salt and pepper their food. Send me some videos...I gotta see this 😂
@@elizabethsessions4486 Same. Maybe I live in a confirmation bias bubble, but all the UA-camrs I watch (including June) season their food properly.
June’s talent is seriously amazing. I can’t even imagine what she’d be able to come up with on a standard grocery budget and she’s out here killing it with $25.00.
When she said Butter is the true star of the show I screamed "YES!" then turned to my husband & said "THAT'S why I bought 8 boxes this week, you're welcome"
Aaron: it literally tastes like Thanksgiving.
June: Well.. it’s supposed to!
nailed it. lol
I know what he means. He thinks it doesn't look like thanksgiving at first and he had his doubts. But later, his palate told him otherwise.
I never comment on UA-cam videos, but I want to give a shoutout to June: you're extraordinary! I love every single video of yours.
I absolutely love the way she uses the ingredients in an creative manner and has minimal food waste
You are an inspiration!
I just love June!!
Love love love seeing someone doing some real cooking with real ingredients and putting their own spin on it. This, to me, is what being a good cook is all about -- take what you have, think outside the box, make something more delicious than it would have been if you had an unlimited budget! It truly incorporates the real meaning of Thanksgiving also, to be thankful for what you have.
Love it that Aaron called her Juney. So sweet. But yeah the food and whole cooking process was amazing.
June is making the content we need and deserve in 2020. Junebug 4 life - Netflix needs to option this for a show!
“They all look great Juney.” 😭
It makes me so happy to see how happy it makes June hearing the feedback about her food. She is so passionate!
When you cut into the potato, you damage the cell walls that keep everything nice and tidy. The phenols and the enzymes meet the oxygen coming in from the outside world, causing a chemical reaction to take place. This chemical reaction results in - you guessed it - pink potatoes.
I know a google search definition when I see it
Yeah, but she did say that. Her question was why does it turn red when it oxidizes. Oxidation she got. The question was why red.
(Rust, oxidation of iron, is also red. )
So what it's still nice cuz I definitely wasn't gonna 😂
@@rolinaguilar7529 hahaha thought it might help anyone who didn’t know! I didn’t until I looked it up 🤣 x
@@hannahviolet4726 thanks! I was just intrigued and thought maybe someone else would be as well 🤣 xxx
Her smile when he said it makes him feel like childhood. That's love.
I do feel like aaron took to heart the comments on the last budget video. His feedback is considerably more positive this time! I think he knew youtube would come at him if he gave her anything less than 10/10 t the end of this video 😜😜
I love June’s cooking because even if the plate doesn’t come out great she not afraid to say it.
SHOCKED by how cheap the veggies are. Northern Canada could never omg
Not even on the East coast. That much food would easily cost $70
@@missjessyannew889 she is on the east coast
@@missjessyannew889 You do realize June's in NYC right? lol I bet she shops around for these prices
it looks like she went to a few different supermarkets and potentially shopped sales to get the most from her budget! a lot of the dollar items look like theyre from chinese supermarkets and the Urban Meadow half&half and butter (?) are Key Foods store brands that go on sale at those prices every few weeks
@@Superfastjellyfish669 She might mean the east coast of Canada. But yeah - I live in the Midwest US, and those produce prices are crazily low.
I'm such a june bug ❤❤❤ the salt tip for brussel sprouts has legit changed my life.

How sweetly and calmly she listens to his rather pompous review. If my husband said that to me after I had been cooking for two days I'd be in such bad mood I'd be snarling at him
yep.
Honest feedback is something I deeply value in all of my relationships :)
I never get the impression he is being pompous. She sincerely wants her food to be graded, and he does just that.
@@thank9stars You're just lovely : )
I’m already looking out for Budget Eats Christmas edition! Love June. So hard working and talented!
I've never heard Aaron so satisfied! Way to go June!
June is literally the only person that gives me joy anymore PLS KEEP COMING OUT W THESE
June would make boiling plain water a happy experience for me. She’s not only brilliant, she’s so relatable. Love her videos so much. I smile the entire time.
I want to see a Budget Eat episode where she restocks her spices. She has so many different sorts of peppers !!
Every year there is one thanksgiving video I’ll watch over end over.. this is my new fav!! Such a creative menu, beautiful presentation, and overall just a great feel. Thank you!
Potato cells contain these compounds called phenols, which are surrounded by enzymes, which are all bundled up nice and safely inside the rigid cell walls. When those cell walls are destroyed and get exposed to oxygen, they begin to turn pink. So when you grate the potatoes, it breaks those phenols quickly, trapping pockets of air, so as the potatoes begin to react with the oxygen, it turns the water red. (I totally googled this)
Thank you I learned a lot.
She's definitely right, when she says the star of Thanksgiving is butter.
Thank you June! I can’t get enough of your BudgetEats videos. They’re so inspiring and very fun to watch. 😁
She is a virtuoso. Perked up my quarantine to watch her make that mouth watering Thanksgiving meal.
