She is probably the only chef I see who never wastes a single item! I'm impressed!! Have a lot to learn from her :)
June really inspires me to be more mindful of how I use my scraps. I always learn something new from her content. What a gift June is to the world ❤️
Very great point this is one thing I like most about her. Also she's just creative and uses all fresh ingredients
She has really taught me to stretch me food budget!

This is the “ June needs a raise” petition. Delish, if we get June 2,000 signatures aka likes, will you give her a raise?
UPDATE: we are now at 3k signatures. Delish, we know you’ve seen this comment. What’s it going to take to give our girl a raise?

Seriously everyone at delish deserves a raise. It’s a lot of work to be making videos like this in your tiny apartment, and probably goes beyond what they would have been doing pre pandemic
Aaron getting her an ice cream sandwich in the middle of dinner to help with her spicy mouth was really cute.
I loved his suggestion of ice cream sandwich week.
I like Aaron!! I think they teeter totter in perfect harmony.

June I have been dealing with eating disorder for over a decade but watching your video is helping me to define what food should be and I'm beginning to appreciate food in its entirety again. You are the only one UA-camr I can watch the entire hour long video joyfully the whole time. Thank you for your endearing videos, pockets of vulnerability and just your awesome self! ❤️
Congratulations and stay strong. I'm sending a digital hug, recovery can be the best and worst all at once. 💜
I can't imagine how tough that is Holy. I just finished a really rough diet cycle and after reaching my weight goal, I can now eat more than I have for the past 6 months, and I did not expect eating again to be this rough. Three months, for me to reach my eating goals. So Im so sorry you had to go through an eating disorder. I hope you fully rediscover what food means to you.
Back solely for June content. I hope y'all gave her a raise. I don't sit around watching anyone else for an hour and a half in the middle of the day.

She carries this whole channel 😭 at least for me! I hope they treat her very well!

Hour and a half!? You are slacking. I'm up to four hours a day...work from home is great...
I want to see a whole series where June goes to *someone else’s* pantry and finds what they have to make an impromptu dinner.
I would watch that!
Tough during the pandemic but that would be great! Maybe Aaron goes shopping with a budget but no direction on what to get?
Great idea. She would have a ball in my pantry. I get all these ideas, shop for them, and then never use the stuff.
YES!!! YES!!! YES!!!
That would be awesome!
Your grocery haul diagrams make my little organized heart so happy.
The amount of respect this woman has garnered is incredible. She just powers through her meals, I'm humbled and will be returning to learn more!

Hello dear what part of the world are you from ?
the butternut squash rice pudding is very in the spirit of Turkish Noah's Ark Pudding (the recipe in the back of the shelled wheat packet). It's a pudding made during certain religious celebrations in Turkey. My mum and grandma make it with whatever fruits and grains that are available to them, so it's different each year (and every family has their own recipe). This pudding is then given to neighbours and relatives in little bowls and it helps bring people together. The reason it's called Noah's Ark Pudding is because it is believed that "when Noah's Ark came to rest on Mount Ararat, Noah's family celebrated with a special dish. Since their supplies were nearly exhausted, what was left (primarily grains, dried fruits and the like) was cooked together to form a pudding".

Hello there how are you doing?
This might get buried and this is never the focus of June's videos, but I always wanted to say this... Thanks for being a positive and relatable person in these videos to showcase a fairly typical Asian-American style of cooking and methodology in the kitchen. Especially with all the anti-Asian vitriol going on more than ever. Lots of media both fiction and "reality television" like depict how Asians eat and cook as challenge foods or somehow demean it as ghoulish and disgusting. It's showcasing "the exotic" to ridicule and for people to gawk at and scorn. My parents are Filipino and my dad had a strong ethnically Chinese background and did not grow up in a really developed area. So much of style of cooking and flavors are simple with Chinese roots and focus on not wasting and making either simple or cheap ingredients delicious-- and they were. I hate the relationship many Americans have with Asian food, either seeing it as unclean and disgusting, cheap and inauthentic, or needing to be "polished" and elevated to something unrecognizable to be palatable. Along with June's innovation, respect for other cultures by having dishes inspired by them, and June's ability to maturely discuss topics like depression and racist-based, outdated ideas about MSG, seeing her stuff is always so validating. Thank you, June.

Not that I'm some kind of PROFESSIONAL PERSON, but I normally avoid commenting on vids because if I comment, I'm almost compelled to read the comments. That's always a mistake.
However, I'm breaking my own rule to tell you this: You are absolutely delightful! I'm so deeply impressed with your skill, your attitude, your level of compassion and and obvious empathy for others, and your use of food as an opportunity to show your love.
Thank you, so much, for sharing your life and abilities with all of us. This has been an especially difficult year (duh), but you, and others like you, have been lights in the dark and I know I'm not the only one who appreciates your efforts.
Also, capsaicin raises serotonin and oxytocin levels, which assist in creating feelings of happiness and strengthening bonds with those we love. Your unfettered attempts to seek joy in the midst of a mental health slump are beautiful and inspirational. The fact that you chose to share your struggle is simply, and without hyperbole, heroic. 💜

An hour and a half of June?? Delish, you're so good to us.

Hello there
Sometimes I find myself wondering what June does in between meals...and then I realize: dishes. June does dishes in between meals.
I think Aaron does the dishes
June honestly makes me feel more comfortable in everything I do in the kitchen and in life because she just shows what it’s like to be a human to make mistakes to learn from them and show her mental state it’s strangely comforting
Can we give June like $200 for the week? So she can splurge and buy allllllll the best products and not be limited by her budget? I would LOVE to see that
Pretty sure she isn't hurting for money. I doubt her channel would be popular if she was doing $200-a-week "challenges"? I personally don't want to see an $800 a month budget food channel.
@@colleendekoning3926 but what if the challenge is to feed a school, or homeless shelter.....I think that would be very cool
Maybe she could buy an Ikea table with that $200. They need to sit down to eat!!

You know, Aaron is growing on me, especially this episode where he seems to genuinely be trying to take care of June during a bad week. I like to imagine he suggested sweet dinner because he knew June would want sweet on a bad day. I actually love their dynamic these days. Plus June is a total rockstar and carries this channel.
Loving Aaron , so supportive. ❤️
Hey what ever makes our leader, June
What ever makes our leader June happy will make me happy... I don’t have to understand her and Aaron as long as she likes him..... of course if he hurts her then.... ya know
I always like their dynamic, i feel like people judged too quickly we don’t really know them after all
I noticed that too! He generally doesn’t like sweet but he knew she needed that.
The real feelings and the wisdom from 11:58-12:22 has really gotten me through the past few days... thank you for being so wonderful, June.
How this woman is able to power through is awe inspiring. I cant even get up to throw something in the microwave when im having a low day. You’re such a trooper June 💕
Yo... Delish should update june's blender game.
Considering the fact that she is using her appliances for her job, her job should hook up her kitchen
Delish BUY HER A NEW VITAMIX
This comment is hilarious, I love how your mind works!🥰
However it's most likely her choice to use it until she can no longer use it. She seems to be not materialistic at all, and to be honest it's cute and kind of charming!also super relatable because most people don't have fancy kitchen appliances, and honestly we can see those on practically every other cooking show.
I thought I saw her use a vitamix in another video actually.
Yes you are very right
She has a vitamix, are you joking? You know how much those things cost?

What ive loved learning from June is how she’ll find an ingredient she’s never cooked with before and decided that she’s buying it and going to feature it in the week’s meals. Ps. I bought MSG and it’s borderline life changing
What does MSG taste like? My parents always disapproved of it, but I think so long as it isn't used constantly, I think it's fine.

June's laid back attitude about food is just so enjoyable to watch I just love watching her cook.
As someone who lives near her. I need to know where she gets the dollar stock bones from.... it’s killing me
I'd guess they're probably from a Mexican, Asian, or Indian grocery store. Generally, much better deals at non-American supermarkets.
As a wheat farmer myself, I have to say that cooking wheat grains like that is an art - congrats on the execution!
Thank you for feeding us!

I think Aaron is very sweet and loving. You guys are adorable. When you were having a sadder-day (as I call them), he was very supportive of your dish..(Not saying he wouldn't of been) because he knows how happy you get when he is happy; Especially when he enjoys your cooking. I hope your days stay bright June, you make many of us happy and entertained!

I love that u knew what to do with the jicama. U prepared it almost exactly how my Mexican cook friend made it, like a slaw salad with carrots. He even used pepper flakes and citrus too.
Aaron feeding June the Ice Cream sandwich, telling her she needed it was so sweet.
I also second his suggestion of an ice cream sandwich series.
Being Alaskan native we have to find our own food because it's so expensive to shop here. With salmon we brine them shortly then smoke it and dry til ready to eat, all the oils make it soft but yet chewy. Because our foods are primarily from the land and that's mainly where we get our nutrients and vitamins from is fish oil, halibut oil, seal oil. It might sound crazy but we can't really grow veggies or much fruit naturally unless it's from tundra. Crazy right? 😁 love your budget eats!!! You're the best!!

Hello there
I just found her today via FB. Instant love.
its hard to hate her, i fell in love with her instantly months ago with this video so i rewatched it
Hello Shannon!
I think this is, by far, my favourite series. This series feels like a mixture of food adventures, cooking shows, with a dash of light hearted comedy. I have massive respect for June's attitude for food, whereby she utilizes every last bit of the item - which isn't something you see on a lot of these cooking shows by these "top chefs". The amount of food bits they throw away is wasteful.
I cannot believe how creative June is! I’ve never watched a more creative chef, in a realistic kitchen (which is a huge plus for me!) and with such a sweet and charming personality! I will watch anything you make June! 👏🏻🥰
