You asked, June delivered!!
I'm so happy ☺️☺️
Omg, YES! So happy😁❤️
🌱🌱🌱
Thank you sooooo muchhhh😭😭😭 I’m gonna cry
YES❤❤😊
Whatever Delish is paying June, it's not enough. She's amazing.
hard agree
Totally agree! She blows my mind every time. 🤗
Preach!!!
YES!!!! She needs her own channel to get 100% of the coin!
She’s a real joy
Cooking those veggie noodles in that broth that way was pure genius!! I've said this before, and I'll say it again.... It is so refreshing to see someone cook the way you do on a public platform.... Repurposing packaging, cleaning and reusing Ziploc bags and "disposable" containers... Washing out and using the dregs of hot sauce... Using "dead" or "expired" stuff because really, your senses should determine whether its good or bad, and not necessarily some printed date.. Your creativity and resourcefulness is just wonderful.. Always a fan!!
I could never eat this way. It disgusts me
tinu james 100 thumbs up
@@devin7703 well some people have no choice but to.
@@devin7703 can I ask, what about this disgusts you?
her positivity makes everything better too!
Once upon a time when I was small, my mom tried to grow chives. She couldn't figure out why it wouldn't grow until she watched me out the kitchen window and realized I was eating all the chives as soon as any grew. Hehe.
This comment made me laugh 😂! Why?
🤣🤣 why
@@zoelittle4628 It really is funny!
This is literally the cutest most wholesome story I wasn’t expecting!! 🥺💗
You are adorable. Little herbivore tyke.
"I didn't invent it, it's West African inspired" I wish every food video I watched gave this kind of credit to the cultures that inspire their cooking. Respect :)
The moral of the story is: invest in spices and sauces
Yes! I've had so much fun with that since I became vegan.
@V Rostova you shouldn’t generalize, African Americans for starters go crazy with the spices and make bomb food, and for just Americans no matter to race ever been to New Orleans or the south the food there is excellent and well seasoned. Yes many of us struggle with our spices and cook bland food but let’s not generalize there are many parts that take cooking and food seriously
@V Rostova umm have u ever had irish or swiss food
@V Rostova yah i know i was joking lmao. and are those countries part of the us?
@V Rostova true where u from
I love that June always emphasises cutting away what's bad and using the rest, that's how most of us around the world live
one piece
I thought that's what everyone did... I was a little confused do people just throw stuff with one little bad spot?
@@maiahochheiser7628 depends how deep it goes. I've thrown out a few potatoes where the infection goes deep into the heart, even when there is some salvageable.
She's talking to those who are too afraid to eat the banana because it has bruised parts.
@@unknowncaller69 if it’s brown it’s sweet. Which means it’s overripe. Perfect for making sweet meals and can help you reduce sugar. Like banana bread, banana pudding etc. Some people even bake bananas to get it to that overripe texture.
These June challenges have been so beneficial for me! I used to spend almost $200 on groceries. Last week I spent $40. I'm in shock!
Unlike other food from vegan food youtubers, I so love to see someone making food with SPICES and frying stuff in OIL and really focusing on flavour. I mean! I can literally taste every dish through the screen :'D Thank you for making all that delicious food!
And actually priced well. Most have ingredients that are not well know or very expensive which is not achievable by regular people
Pick up limes is a great vegan channel with a lot of spicy dishes - but healthy as well. She has some menus on a budget video etc, i can only recommend her 😊
@@Hungarianne yeah, pick up limes is great!!!
Dear Delish, we are only here for June content so you all better treat her like the gem she is.
😂❤️❤️
Instead, they fired her.
June's shoulders must be hurting by carrying the channel on her own
June has strong shoulders. She's the She Hulk of cooking. 💪😋
June could go independent and I would follow.
Wow the Savagery
Duh cuz I thought this was her channel lol
@@pela8602 Reading these comments I just learned this isnt her channel. haha
I gotta say, she really knows her man. She even broke the rules and threw in a pepper that wasn’t a part of the budget for him. That’s love.
I like that when June says budget, she means it. Actually cheap and identifiable ingredients that most if not all of us can get and find. Other channels have "budget" meals and they include foods like salmon and streak
I have never bought a cookbook in my life, but I swear I will buy hers if she ever releases one
June’s depthy understanding of different global cuisines contribute to her success in these vids. So so much. Her knowledge is honestly aspirational
Yes! Do it, June!
SAME!!!!!
Yes! I really hope hope she does
I also really love how she doesn’t have any pretentions about her cooking
I got ridiculously excited when I saw the words Delish + June + budget. She's just fun to watch, and she gives me so many good ideas!
I squealed.
Agree!! Love her!
Same! Even if i don’t like vegetables and can’t live vegan or gluten free...still here for june!
Same!
me too!
June: Yeah, I'm only spending 25 dollars for a week of healthy, vegan, gluten free meals
Me: Spends 25 dollars worth of frozen pizzas in a day and watches this video to feel healthy
only dinner and lunch though, most people eat more then two meals so it does not cover her whole food expences for a week, but it is still very impressiv given the variety of dishes she comes up useing the same ingredients over and over again rearranged
June is not only a creative chef, she’s a philosopher. “Who are you? Don’t ask yourself that question, it will paralyze you.” I have done that exact scenario many times.
I notice that she calls him "Chef". Are they both chefs?
@@Nan-Elle He cooks on the side on some her vlog video, but I think its more of a playoff name because he is know mostly for judging the food that she makes.
I nominate June for C.E.O. Of Delish.
She will rule wisely....
At least give her a raise so she can sit down and enjoy a meal.
Did she start Delish?
@@bodyofhope she IS DELISH!
I nominate June to ditch those losers and make her own channel.

I like how June isn't afraid to experiment and still eats the fails. Aaron choking down the dry pizza was love lol
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how supportive Aaron is of June and her experiments? Even when he's critical, he's supportive
Haha--but only because he was getting the hate before. I still wish he'd set the table, so the two of them could sit down and eat June's amazing food at the table and discuss the flavours.
When June said “still smells good” about the expired spices, I felt seen.
@@anonymousremarks I think they mainly are put on foods for legal reasons, but some foods definitely need them, like fish and milk.
I wonder if spices can actually truly expire
@@anniemeridian270 they can, it just takes a long while. even then, it's not that they're inedible they just don't have much, if any flavor. some may also go rancid which makes it taste pretty bad lol :]
@@anniemeridian270 they lose taste and color, but turning harmful? not really
@@cronchybo at least in the US expiration dates aren't federally regulated except for baby food
I'd love to see June do more vegan and vegetarian meals on a budget, but without the gluten-free restriction, which is a medical one, rather than a lifestyle choice.
But she is glutant intolerant
I think it was primarily there because it’s a restriction she’s personally implementing but her $5 a day video was essentially completely vegetarian save for some broth
Remember that European wheat isn’t the same as US wheat. It’s far superior

No captions on this video?? :( I'm deaf and love that Delish captions all their videos otherwise, especially on June's videos!
EDIT: OMG, Delish finally added them! Thank you so much!!
This video was 1 hour???.... I watched this whole video?...I literally thought this was 20 minutes
Oh shit didn’t even realize it. I speed up my videos but still
I know. She is so easy and fun to watch.
Literally
Me too
I didnt feel the time go by at all and was really sad it ended. I hope she does another
growing up below the poverty line, i learned to cook with whatever we had. as an adult my skill with experimenting with random ingredients is top of the line. but im no where near the creative talent June has! i love your videos! it kept me going during lockdown isolation!
Rewatching all of the Budget Eats series because June is incredible! I hate to demand, but Delish, seriously more June!
I have also been watching these over and over. 😂 June is amazing. So many enthusiastic viewers on such long videos! Her content is quite impressive, and I agree that more is always welcome.
Is it just me. Or is that bag of Shoshito peppers never ending
Same... They kept on coming and coming... 😂😂
Omg same😂😂😂
The thing that stuck with me was the part in the beginning about the spices. Having a selection of spices (at least the basics) is absolutely an investment. The right spices can turn even the most basic of meals to something amazing. When I was a broke college students, I would pick up 1-2 spices a month and soon I had a pretty respectable spice rack. A+, would recommend!
Also you can often buy spices in bulk at speciality stores (eg Asian Grocers) rather than the tiny glass jars supermarkets sell that you'd use in one dish :P
Absolutely. Shame on people who question her for having spices! I mean, C'mon people!
Plus dollar tree has spices for a dollar plus tax.
@@caprisun6910 true, Dollar tree has spices, walmart carries some $.98 also. To start out with, with no other ones; probably italian seasoning, cinnamon or cinnamon sugar, and chili powder, and maybe garlic pepper seasoning 😁 my favorite 😁
@@caprisun6910 I've been looking for smoked paprika, I cant find it in any of the discount stores.
I love how Aaron uplifts June with all the nice things he says to her.

While it is not perfect, it was a great starting point for me already! It's great when we can all take some advantage of this :)
June’s depthy understanding of different global cuisines contribute to her success in these vids. So so much. Her knowledge is honestly aspirational
never have I ever seen anyone be more efficient and creative with food
I love how you recycle old food containers to use again at your home, June. I really appreciate it. Not all food creators do that.
I don't see any problems with using spices you already have. One, spices are usually cheap and last a lot, and two, no one wants to see this poor woman eating bland cauliflower for a week. And if we're going to recreate the dishes, we're (probably) (hopefully) going to use them too.
Bruh, a bag of avocadoes for only $1? They cost $9 here in Australia lol

Not that it's budget-friendly for these challenges, but for anyone going vegan, nutritional yeast and liquid smoke are game changers and worth the investment!

What kind of things do you use liquid smoke for?
For sure!
I've been on the same container of NutYeast for a year, so it's pretty economical.
If you get smoked salt, you can find it pretty inexpensive and a little goes a very long way!

June is my ultimate aspiration as a home cook. She is, by far, the most creative home cooking persona on UA-cam

Honestly, spices even aren’t that expensive. I have a massive collection that I’ve curated over 4 years of buying at TJ Maxx, Ross, and Tuesday Morning. My mom has a horrible habit of having 3 of the same thing so sometimes I get one from her
I know spices technically expire but like, come on. It’s like makeup. Who is gonna throw that away?
EXACTLY!!! ❤
Dry spices last really long time if you just keep in closed container and uses only clean dry spoon. It is just dried powder what can go wrong? Many spices are even anti fungus and anti bacterial.
I love how she randomly calls Aaron "girl" throughout her videos. 😂😂😂
June you need to make a cookbook of all these recipes you keep making. I would buy it for myself and give it away to the young adults in my life who are living on a tight budget.

People don't realize after you've already bought items they stick around if you didn't use the entire thing. I see nothing wrong with cycling out old products. I used to budget on 25$ a week and at some points I ended up not buying anything except fresh fruit/veg for an entire month because I was already prestocked from previous months.

My tip for soya chunks is that once you’ve soaked and drained them, roast them in the oven and that will reduce the sponginess 🙂 (or mushiness as Erin calls it!)
Also you can put the soy in a nut bag and squeeze the liquid so it can take the flavors and spices you add! It tastes so much better!
Where can we find a big bag of them like hers from?
Scottie's Diary I find that brand at Indian markets, but I have also found soy chunks at Latin American grocers

I think Aaron likes sweet when he wants sweet. Just not in his savoury dishes.
June has been the greatest discovery for me this pandemic. Smart, funny, sassy, thrifty- I’ve definitely gotten tons of inspiration to experiment in the kitchen with what I have on hand, thanks to June. She’s obviously brilliant and has tons of experience and skill in her craft but she’s also very down to earth, relatable and seems so kind (see her reactions to unicorn cake fails- so kind!). I echo many others when I say that I would totally watch an entire series of just June, cooking feasts from trash she found on the street, or whatever she might want to do, I’ll watch it. Or if someone made a documentary on her? I also think she and Aaron have a really sweet relationship.
This is so great! I feel so inspired by June's ideas, thanks!
