Wow we have lost countless items like these thru history. I'm glad this has been saved
I'm pretty sure those small drawers in the mail slots are for signet rings or stoppers, which would be used to press a signet or seal into the wax used to keep the envelopes closed.
I think there might be even more compartments than that!
Perfect! As an art historian I really appreciate such a great piece of art craft. In Poland, where I live, we have an amazing story from The second WW where some very important and rare documents of The Polish Underground were find about 2 years ago in a specially made secret drawer of a desk. The desk was bought on an auction and the drawer found during the renovation. It looked just like a desk wall, a job so fine to prevent SS from finding the documents... Greetings from Poland!
I would like to have seen that desk presented like this desk.
Hey everyone, thanks for all the raving compliments. that's so awesome. Glad you liked it.
Hey Antique purveyor!
Do you still have it?
Regards,
It's utterly amazing to me that something like this could actually be purchased, instead of being in a museum.
I could easily believe that there are at least 1,000 hours in making this piece.
What a spectatularly wonderful piece!
I don't know why I want to now learn everything I can about these sorts of desks
Absolutely stunning, and beautifully cared for. We have an 18th century bureau desk, although it’s a beautiful piece it’s nothing like this. We actually use it though I’m always a bit nervous around our antiques.
Just beautiful!
Beautiful!
I believe these are being produced in the U.K. I see lots of them for sale. ( they're a couple are currently on eBay and more on various resale/auction sites) They're advertised as new for about 18k-20k. Nonetheless it's a beautiful case on desk.
This is an unfknbelievable piece.........wow.
Great tour of a beautiful piece. I'm somewhat surprised you didn't need to wear gloves. Thanks for the tour!
Ha...gloves
@@antiquepurveyor the oil from your hands can tarnish the surface. Most of these traditional finishes weaken over time, becoming very susceptable to even the lighter moisture. . But ha, who needs gloves when touching a piece of history right??
@@solidsnake9332 it's a new desk.:)
@@antiquepurveyor oh, so its a replica? that explaines the perfect condition....how much do you have to pay for something like that?
Wow what a beautiful piece of furniture
WOW! I’m speechless!
It’s beautiful but doubt I could ever afford such well made furniture. :)
Thank you so much!
Gorgeous desk
Hey thanks!
I have not seen a more beautiful pice than that with the exception of the Roentgen;s Berlin Secretary Cabinet.
Share a link ;)
Thank you !!
Amazing
Reminds me of an apothecary desk.
Bello, Fantástico
How do you access the top drawers behind the glass doors? I'm pretty sure using the desk itself as a step ladder wouldn't be a great idea...
How much? this is more than cabinetry making, it's art!
I would love to spend some time in the person's work shop & watch him build some cabinets of the time. I wish I could find some plans that would show how the systems works in opening the drawers. Some of these desk have pulley systems that open more than one drawer at a time. It is not just coming up with the idea But making the metal parts for the time. If anyone knows where I can get some of the plans PLEASE let me know.
Ez a szekrény,valóban egy csoda.És számítógép,meg ember által előállított energia nélkül,csak a gravitációs hasznosltva,úgy működik mint egy nagyra nőtt sweici óra.
Frumos zis, felicitari !
What is the finish used? that makes it so shiny and reflective
So what were all those drawers used for?
Build it and i believe in you
There are several of these at the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg
Ofcourse, being Russia i'm sure you find many like this in most museums ! After all, we are talking about a perfect country here !
what a big desk I don t want it I loved but it is too big and Idont have many things but cool!!!❤💙💚💛💜💓💕💖💗💘💝💞💟👍👌✊✋👊👋👏
How much would it cost, realistically?
Is this the only item you have that has concealments?
Wow
Price?
oh.my.God. BOXES!!!!
Beautiful piece of craftsmanship! I am curious what a piece like this would sell for? I am not sure if a private message can be sent on this platform, if so could you send me a price on this desk. Thanks - Michael

Wondering how many Craftsman worked on it??????? Then what the price was back in the day?
Probably dirt cheap (in todays standards) inflation is a killer. . .

Wear gloves when handling such a Beautiful, Masterful Antique!
It was made to be touched

How sad humans have lost this level of artistic ability.

WhAt an animal grabbing it with out gloves and just being ruff with that piece I’m flabbergasted 🤭🤭🤭😠
Gloves...why are you not wearing gloves...
Beautiful desk, crappy presenter.
Hey there, Antique purveyor! I hear you saying..."maybe 150 drawers, or so..." Maybe? Or so? has it occurred to you, of actually COUNTING them, instead of appearing the bumbling presenter that you are ? What, do not know how to count ?
You are such an ignorant bastard. Useless hater
