- Mothers and fathers in games generally are kept very lowkey. In other words, parents of characters usually remain a mystery. As for Keira, known as Samos' daughter, had a mother. We have no clue about her origin nor past life. What was she like?

Keira is totally adopted. Jack was like five when they went through the rift to the past which means Keira was already born before young Samos and young Jack got there. could also be a step father, but I'm leaning towards adopted orphan.

What if Maia was Keira's mother? When Samos first sees them in TPL, he tells Maia that he warned her Dark Eco would change her. She seems headstrong, like Kiera, and seems technologically savvy, like Kiera. Maybe her passion to weld Dark Eco was what caused Samos and her to part ways, and ultimately destroyed her. Just a thought.

That's... actually a REALLY good theory. SEEMS like it might actually be somewhat plausible! though.. it DOES make me wonder if maybe it was her brother(Gole)that may have influenced her. .

this would work but you would think Samos would at least have some kind of pain or remorse or thoughts about her death at the end of TPL
What could have happend, when they arived in Sandover Village, Samos got really close to a woman with a young daughter, they got into a realationship, but soon later she passed away and he decided to take care of her daughter, and raise her as if she was his own. And perhaps she was the original sage of Sandover Village

This was my thought. Maybe she was the original green sage and Samos apprenticed under her. Honestly whatever theory is just a band aid for radically changing the lore and putting such a twist on the end of 2. TPL implies that he was a sage for decades at least.
This honestly makes the most sense, it would explain how Keira is only a year younger than Jak since his younger self was at least 4-5 years old in the second game

This makes more sense I think. Kiera doesn't look like she's half sage, and if she's only 1 year younger than Jak, the timeline doesn't make sense. Jak was already walking when he was sent back, so he would've been at least 2/3 years old. Makes much more sense that she was adopted at some point

EcoFreak, i liked the lost frontier. While it was the worst jak game, it wasn’t a bad game on its own and think it had some good moments and ideas.
Maybe Samos' wife went to misty island and something bad happened there. Maybe that's why he doesn't want Jak going to that place. Hmmmm....
Also, getting off topic, why would Gol and Mia be on Misty island during the intro of the game if they don't even capture Samos there? Mia says " Deal harshly to anyone who strays from the village. We will attack it in due time". Yet nothing happens to the village or Samos.
I think what they meant is ''we''ll attack by the time we get more power''.

When Jak and Samos arrived in the past, the rift rider landed on Kiera's parents, crushing them. Jak was so scarred, he didn't speak for 10 years; Samos developed an irrational hatred of teleporting; and Kiera became a mechanic in order to design safer vehicles (and failed miserably).
It's been over 10 years and the way they murdered Keira's character still hurts me.

I think it would've been better it jak 2 had a plot where young Keira and her mother were from the future like samos and they went with him with young jak to the past which ties the plot hole.
I still wonder, just what happened to her biological mother?
I'm thinking Samos' is Kira's step-father/adoptive father. Samos met Kira along with her mother when she was very young, they marry and Samos accepts Kira as his own and continues being her father even after his wife's passing

I low key had a crush on Keira when I was 10-12, the first time I played Jak and Daxter
The only two options I can see for the age gap is that
A: The theory about them landing in Haven City at different years
or
B: Samos went back in time and married someone who already had a daughter named Keira. I dont think she was adopted though.
I'm going with plan B idea. Since I think Samos and child Jak went rift portal to the past and then Samos married a widow with a child aka Kreia in sandover village possibly. So yes I think Kreia is adopted, since we never see a child version of her in Jak 2 within Haven city.

I figure that not long after samus arrived in sandover, they looked for a place to crash and met up with Keira and her mom and sort of became a family friends and the mom dated samus.

In Lost Frontier, Keira's function was to sell Jak new abilities based on the different types of eco. So that would add credence to the theory of her mother being the white sage, but I think the first time you visit her, she mentions that her father was the one teaching her to better harness eco.
We don’t even know who Jak’s mother is. I wish they would address things like Jak’s “uncle”,Keira’s mother and Jak’s mother if they ever do a Jak 4.
I saw another video theory about Keira’s mother being the original green eco sage, who would help young Samos learn the ways of green eco. They probably got on well and he agreed to watch over her young daughter. Some guys like ready-made families, and Samos seems kind enough to take that role. Keira’s mother might have tried to use her tech against the growing forces of dark eco and lost her life. Samos would quickly have adopted Keira completely, also seeing in her the potential to be an eco sage. As for choosing adopting Keira over young Jak, maybe the latter was a pain to deal with because he liked to get into everything and cause trouble at Samos’s lab, etc, lol.
I was just about to comment that she has to be adopted/step child and seeing your comments part about her mother being the green sage makes perfect sense for Samos having that role after being there for 10 years. Plenty of time to arrive, settle in and maybe meet a like minded single mother who so happens to be an eco sage (and given Samos's knowledge of the future) probably b-lined it for her
The lore and family in these kinds of games are really in depth, it got me realisin' Ratchet's parents are both dead, and it's only known Kaden his father, all he had left was his father's friend Alister until he died, while Clank's parents are both alive since his mum is the computer on Planet Quartu and Orvus is his father/creator (surely alive), it's only known Lorna Cross is Angela's mum who might or might not be dead and Max Apogee who Talwyn's dad left to another dimension.

Maybe Jak and samos didnt arive at the same time and place after being sent back. It could have broke apart again and that's why Kira had to assemble it in the first place.
Samos arived years earlier and got married and had Kira. Jak arived a couple years later but in the jungle or somewhere else and the explorer found him,thus being his "uncle" who later takes him to sandover where samos has now become the protector and mastered green eco.
It could explain both the uncle problem and the age gap problem.
Maybe the precursor egg is what causes it to get hit with lightning and explode in the first place. Altering their course in the rift.. it did pass through first after all. It's the precursors making sure everything lines up properly for jak to grow up to be the hero he is.
It's just a thought anyways.
I've always imagined Keira came from the future as well along with young Samos and Jack Daxter was a stowaway hitchhiker they all went to the Past

If Keira is a year younger than jak that would mean young (future) jak has to be a within 15 months of age for Keira to have been born in the past (and that’s if their birthdays are as far apart as possible yet still only 1 calendar year apart Jak’s being 1-1-j(year of jaks birth and Keira being 12-31-(j+1) they’d be almost 24 months apart in true age yet one year apart still so after taking a what we’d expect be a 9 month pregnancy away from the 24 months that’d allow jak to be up to 15 months old upon his journey to the past
I like the idea that Keira's mother is the daughter of a female, light eco-sage. That explains why she wasn't with young Samous in Jak II despite being only a year younger than Jak, Samous wasn't actually her real father! Now that begs the question, who was? Blue eco-sage, perhaps?

How would keira be just a year younger if jak was at least 3 or 4 when he went to the past? That would mean that samos isn't keira's real father...

Glad I spot this over twitter (Canuck_Sweety33), this helps me catch up to the lore of Jak and Daxter a bit. With that being said, I do believe that a possible racing accident didn't cause her mom's or anyone's death, but may have unlock something. (crashed into somewhere secret or created enemies) and made things more difficult for Keira's parents to settle down and raise her. It's what I got out of it for now.

@@VtnVivi Well it has to do with the time travel from Jak 2 where the samos, who is the leader of the shadow, met with the geologist who is thoughtful and is very much aware of her environment not to mention the fact that the samos from haven probably was adjusting to his new life in the country, also the fact that he doesn't mention her because of the fact that samos only needed Keira to support the future and if you look at future samos which is young samos he isn't exactly as mannered as his older self, so maybe the geologist was to busy with her work.Also Keira and Samos don't even talk to the other folk they start working on the blue sage machine for the boulder. The only thing thats the most confusing is which came first? Perhaps Mar is the very first Jak who establishes some kind of loop where Jak and samos are constantly sending themselves into the past to repeat the events that happened.

I know I am late to the party, but I will make a comment regardless.
In Jak II we meet young Jak. This kid is definetly older than one or two years old. I would guess he's around 5-7 years old. When in Jak II, young Jak and Samos go through the portal, and in Jak X, Keira is only one year younger than Jak, it is impossible for Samos to acutally be her real dad.
She would be between 4-6 years old (if we take young Jak's/Mar's age into consideration), meaning, that she lived in Sandover Village before the two arrive.
We do not know if she was an orphan (why, would be the question) or how Samos became the father figure of her. But we can assume, that her Mother was alive after the jump through the portal, or else Samos couldn't make remarks towards the mother.
I believe that something (what is not really important tbh) happend to the mother and father when we go that far, and Samos took over as the father figure.

I think it could be a 3 year time travel difference. Old Samos might not have been in prison that whole time maybe he was picked up shortly before young Samos or even after. Maybe they just assumed he escaped and ditched the life seed, and just through him back in the same cell without even checking if young Samos was there or maybe they were only in prison because there was 2 of them and they were obviously the same person.
maybe Samos had a child (Keira) a bit before they travel to the future but didn't take her with them and then future Samos went back to the past where they left Keira

I would like to think that Samos did have Keira during the 1st year at Sandover Village, making her about 2 - 3 years younger than Jak. When they all went to the future, Samos & Keira got sent to Haven City a few years earlier than when Jak & Daxter enter the place giving Keira a chance to catch up to Jak in age.

If you think about it, we don't see a lot of moms. Jak, Ashlen, Keira and even Rain's mom are never revealed, just their fathers. So why was Keira's mom mention? They also never explained where Daxter came from, which was also a mystery.
But to note on Keira, I think she might have been adopted. Think about it, Samos raised Jak, it was his job to raise Jak. Yet in the first game, it would appear that Jak and Daxter met Keira for the first time. Meaning, she didn't grow up with them nor was their any familiarity to them. I mean, if they did grow up together, wouldn't Keira and Daxter know each other long enough that Daxter wouldn't hit on her?
So I think your theory of her being raised in the blue sage area might be true. Maybe her mom was a light Sage but something happened to her and she was given to Samos because he already had skills in training kids. You don't have to be blood related, maybe Keira just saw him as a father. Also the time theory could also work, I always wondered how she was able to be in charge of a dome in two years within traveling to the future. But that also means her appearance should have changed, which it didn't. I mean, she still looks like a teen.
If ND were to go back to the Jak series, I hope they do clear this up. I feel like Keira could play an important role in the series by this mystery alone.

Samos is the sage of green eco. I would not be surprised if he just threw some of the life-giving eco onto a plant and it just sprung Keira to life...Of course, the whole "just like her mother" line is the only problem with that theory, but even though Jak X is considered canon, I don't think little details like that were actually considered when writing the script.

After Jak 2 I had always figured that Kiera was indeed an orphan and that future Samos took her in slightly because he "had" to. Like he remembers old Samos in the future having a Daughter and some orphan girl shows up and so he put 2 and 2 together and figured for the whole thing to work out he'd have to look after her too.
As for the comment about her mother, assuming that wasn't just basic dialog and it really means something, I'd guess that Samos did end up meeting or knowing about Kiera's mother and she just wasn't alive to be seen. Keira being young enough likely wouldn't remember her parents going missing so it would have been easy enough for Samos to just let her think of him as her actual father VS adopted father and explain it to her when she was older.

A common thing in video games, we never hear about the mother...weird.
I bet Keira was born in Sandover before Samos and Jak got there, Samos got to know her and her family well (let’s assume that maybe her father disappeared or died earlier than Samos’s arrival), but at a certain point Keira’s mother died and that made Samos the only one who could take care of Keira, this can fix the 1 year difference between her and Jak, and also the reference Samos made to her mother! Although this would also break a bit as soon as you think as why should Keira then refer to Samos as “father” and not simply “Samos” as you would with a family friend who adopted you despite not being you biological father…
I don't believe Kira has a mother. I believe that she was an anomaly. Created by Samos as a way of continuing his legacy once he passed. But Kira became the Sage of Light Eco. Or perhaps Mia is Kira's mother? Hmmm. 🤔

I'm glad that Jak X established that Jak is 19, because the Math adds up with the games progressing from Precursor Legacy to 3. However, it still raises a rather hairy question.
Keira can't possibly be just _one year_ younger than Jak. The young Jak we see in haven City has to be _at least_ two years old; that's the age that can justify him being able to walk around, have teeth, but also not talk and have no memory of what happened in Haven City.
The age of 2 is when children have developed the mobility skills to walk around on their own without help and is also the time when their teeth have mostly come in; it's just before the age where they start speaking and start developing enough brain power to preserve memories.
So young Jak cannot be older or _younger_ than this age baseline. And Keira couldn't be born until _nine months_ after Young Jak and Samos arrive in the Past in Sandover. Meaning that she has to at the very _least_ be nearly _three years_ younger than Jak.
Which is actually kind of disturbing considering that, if Jak is supposed to be fifteen years old in Precursor Legacy...this would mean that Kiera is between twelve and thirteen...
I don't think that Keira is adopted either for two reasons; one being that Samos specifically mentions that she is like her mother, meaning that he had to have known her. And 2, Samos effectively adopted Jak - and subsequently Daxter - but they have a different relationship to Samos than Keira does. If she was "adopted" just like the two of them were, then I doubt she'd have as-close a relationship as she appears to have in the games...much less to the point of referring to him as her father; there's more of a familial bond between them.
Well if Samos waited 6 years for jak and jak has only been there for 2...the math would make sense. That means jak was originally 5 before Kira was born (cause young jak does look anywhere between 3-5) so if Keira and Samos were in the future 4 years prior to jak that would mean Kiera aged 4 years before jak arrived. Putting her just a year younger than jak. Which would put young jak just having to be born just 1-2 years after samos and Keira’s arrival. Which begs to question how long has it been since praxis usurped the thrown for damos exile and young jaks abandonment to transpire?
What if maia was her mother because u said samos said to her mother said it was to dangerous and what if maia was learning how to channel dark eco she became evil? Mabye?
also VIVI I was just wondering, have you ever been of Harry Potter at all? I honestly love it but I only ever really watched all the movies, and I think I only ever read the first three books. but do really enjoy them overall. but not really into the fantastic beasts movies that much. the first movie was good but didn't love it and the second movie was a bit all over the place. if you get what I mean at all?

My theory is that the ages mentioned in Jak X bios are just made up by developers that not knew the full story at that time. Jak in the original game looks hardly to be 15 years old, he must be a bit older.
I really felt they butchered Keira's character in Jak 3 because they really forgot about her lore in all of this in Jak 2. Given what happened in Jak 2 there is no shot that Keira is Samos' biological daughter. Jak is 5 at the very most and its been stated Jak and Daxter TPL is 10 years AFTER they arrived in O.G. Sandover Village. Keira existing in Haven city wasn't mentioned not in the slightest most subtle ways by Shadow/ Younger Samos. No mention of a family or anything. I saw a comment suggesting that her mother could of been Sandover's old green eco sage, and that seems highly possible
Cause otherwise Samos if she is Samos' daughter, he was getting some action as soon as he landed. Which I guess comes full circle to if Kiera's mom is a sage and some how witnessed that or knew about it lol. Or she was an orphan. I mean Samos wasn't always the green eco sage

What if Maia is Keira's mom... she's a sage, tech savvy, does dangerous research that made her lose sanity, she was close to Samos at some point, and her hair looks like Keira's but bleached.
So, do you think Samos kept his logs when he was clapping Kiara's mom's cheeks?
Late to the party.. It might be the Bird Watcher, we can't see her hair color and Kiera mentions "she doesn't date animals" which might be a jab at the Bird Lady if she's her mother's possible obsession and how she knows how to saddle and teleport the Flut Flut. She also seems to know Samos pretty well.
What if it's Mia? She was potentially transformed from her original appearance with dark eco and Samos knows her. The experiments with her and Gol could be why Samos is upset about it.
She could've died or gotten lost setting up or activating the transpads, or if Samos told her about Jak 2, she might've deliberately gone out to place powercells in challanging places to get Jak ready for the journey and may have help Samos place the riftrunner into the precursor door.
The alternate destination time is also possible since her and Samos both fly in different directions so she could've been there 4 years, which would explain why she's so well established and all the trophies (unless the Grand Prix happens every other week)
No matter what, if her mother died or disappeared or she's a being that formed through something crazy, Samos raising her from a child would make her refer to him as father whether he is or not

I think Samos and child Jak went rift portal to the past and then Samos married a widow with a child aka Kreia in sandover village possibly. So yes I think Kreia is adopted, since we never see a child version of her in Jak 2.

@@VtnVivi well maybe. We do know that they were working together to take care of the flut flut berd but that's about as close as we got from any speculation that they were together in the game. This will probably be one of the biggest mysteries in the game ever.
I think Maya is the best candidate because she is tech savvy as we see from the modified precursor tech, and she has a previous relationship to Samos from before her and Gol went nutsacks.

Man, I really wish the Jak & Daxter Timeline is really fixed. Because Time Travel is really messed up in J&D due with Jak and Daxter traveling to the future or Jak being born in the future any of those. But we have Video Game Dads in PlayStation like Conner Cooper The Father of Sly Cooper, Kaden The Father of Ratchet, and King Damas The Father of Jak. I really wish Sony and PlayStation Productions could revive those 3 Series with Reboots and continuations, we can explore more of Sly's Past with his mom along with Bentley's Family, Murray's Family, and Carmelita's Family in Sly Cooper 5 and TV Series as a Reboot, Ratchet's past with his parents' relationship along with Clank, and Jak's past with his parents' relationship along with Daxter's Parents. But Samos in Jak X might've been an over-protecting father when he doesn't want Keira in that Combat Racing Sport. Also, speaking of Sly Cooper: Where is The Sly Cooper TV Series?! It's October already and PlayStation Productions has to get to work!
Sly's parents being a mystery is a cool and interesting factor. The least they should do is show them as ''ghosts'' and have their faces blacked out.
I was just thinking, wondering if keira wasn't samos daughter. Didn't think about that before. But the theory about her catching up in age in the future, how did she end up with a figure like that at possible 11/12? I mean, I know some girls develop early, but still. Maybe keira was already born before samos got there and he took her on when her mother died or something, and she was actually the same age or a year younger then jak.... Still, only 13 in the first game.
I'd go with the Keira was already born and adopted IF anything else.

@@VtnVivi I mean him and Jak seem to have a 100% brotherly bond / relationship but they did grow up in the same small village with seemingly only one other child around (and that child beeing a girl, and girls have cooties) but I do imagine them as beeing both orphans for some reason. I can even see the conversation going:
Samos: I traveled back in time and rised Jak like my own child. He comes from a dystopian future where he is an heir to the throne, so it was the only way to protect him.
Someone: What about Daxter?
Samos: Oh we found him behind the dumpster.
