I don't know what you all are talking about, I think Rufus sounds great. Next to Sean I thought he was the standout in this performance, and this is a difficult song to sing. Fantastic.
I may be reading into this but it seems like Sean and John both have a serenity about them - compare the Beatles' edition of this and you'll see the Paul George and Ringo looking at the camera in a very awkward way - John just stands and plays - Sean has that look too.....especially in the wry grin at the end.
i think the reason rufus is having trouble harmonizing is because of his voice being so different, and him being solo his whole life. like he hasnt ever had to harmonize like this bfore. sean has a different voice as well, but the reason he harmonizes perfectly is easy, hes the son of fucking John Lennon (:
Hahaha. Rufus grew up in a family band harmonizing with his mother, aunt and siblings since he was a small child. He harmonizes beautifully. His voice is just so strong. His mic could have been turned down a tiny bit, but he and Sean both shone.
