I was able to change the filters on my company truck. The dealership wanted to charge them hundreds of dollars. Your video was very helpful since I was able to do it and I am by no means mechanically inclined. Thank you sir.
Great video!! Don't skip any of the video, remember to squeeze the sides of the red clip before pulling. Watched another video and they left that part out. Had to order the new red clip after breaking the nipple off. Wished I had watched this one first.
Great video, thank you. I have a couple of comments to add that might make things go a little more quickly for someone trying this for the first time. When removing the orange clip on the engine-mounted filter, first pull the clip up (as shown in the video) and then squeeze the black plastic between the two orange tabs, not the orange tabs themselves, to allow the clip to be pulled off. To visualize the clipping mechanism, you can rotate the clip 180 degrees while still attached. This allows you to view the clip from the bottom, which makes the nature of the clipping mechanism, and the place you need to squeeze, apparent. One other thing. When you buy the Motorcraft filter, there will be a plastic “clam-shell” addition that comes with it. It is to be added to the hose with the orange clip, if it is not already present. Apparently, this was not part of the original equipment on the truck. If this piece is present, it does not have to be removed or replaced during filter replacement. Google Motorcraft® 6.7L Diesel Fuel Collar Installation , for more information.
Curiosity would get the best of me I would want to cut that filter open the one under the hood to see if there was any junk inside. Another great vid bud 👊
Additional Tip..The square filter slides to one side to remove it from the cover. No need twist electrical connector in the cover, it's not holding the filter even though it looks like it. This part was missing from a few videos. Thanks
Mardegan86: My owners manual says to disconnect the intank fuel pump in line. I was wondering if thats why fuel ran and ran. I was looking for info on this cause I'm about to do mine and to get to that damn "quick connect line" so it is said to be. Is difficult to get to.
I have an issue with a 2019 f550. I can't get the bottom filter to come out of the housing, the cover came off, but not the filter. I grabbed some pliers and tried to remove it but it seems like it's stuck, any tips?
I tried doing mine for the first time but I had about 1.5 gallons coming out of the drain and it didnt look like it wanted to stop, and every video I saw ppl only have a little bit coming out, so I closed the drain back and stopped, how much fuel is normal to come out?
@@straighthotdognobun i had a full tank when I tried first time,, waited until fuel went down to 1/4 of a tank full and tried again and it worked. I guess it's better to do it you're fuel is low. But thank u for advice
How often are you guys changing yours? I just bought a 22 f350 and have been running hot shot secret for that CP4 I’m thinking every 10k change the fuel filters and maybe drain just a jar of fuel once a month but not sure how practical that last one might be 😂
If you have a compressor, you can leave the outlet line loose on the top filter and take a rag and air line and pressurize the fuel tank and get the fuel up top a lot quicker.
I broke that flimsy hose on the orange one. Weak ass piece of plastic. Trying to find a replacement piece. Ordered a doorman’s brand 800-188. Might fit, might not. Fingers crossed 🤞
Did my filter change for the first time after watching your video, didnt read the manual but I cycled the key like 6-7 times before start up and the primary was still purging air, do you think this an issue? Morning after it seemed fine on startup just couldn't believe it was still priming air out of the system.
Tried it on my 2016 6.7 f350. Not good After change and lots of cycles could not get air out and get it started. Had to call dealer to pick up. Now want to try again.
Well done. I told you I would check your channel out. I gotta say changing fuel filters is a little easier on my rams though. The oil filter is a pita on the ram though, maybe ford wins there. Lol. I might even give you a like. 👍🏻 Ps. Nice pavement princess. Lol
On my 2017 F-250 every time I do the filters “no joke” I primed it over 20 times and it still won’t start right off the bat. Fucker turns over for a while before it fires up. Always been that way. If my pump fails I won’t be surprised. But no matter what I do it won’t prime the whole system after a fuel filter change. Always has had a hard time starting up after fuel filter changes.
workplaytv Did you ever watch this serious towing video on 12% grades? ua-cam.com/video/hoHDQ4SKpBI/v-deo.html I don’t see how a Cummins would’ve handled it any better !😉😁 He kept it under 3000 on the uphill which above 2800 your cutting your own throat anyway cause your hp and torque drop dramatically after 2800
So, as the rear fuel filter is draining, is it siphoning fuel from the gas tank at that point? Is the rear fuel filter called the primary fuel filter? And, would it hurt to pour the fuel that drains out of the rear fuel filter back into the fuel tank?
It’s just cleaning fuel out of the lines. I suppose it’s the primary cause it’s closest to the tank. I would use it. Good chance there could be water in the fuel in the bottom of the filter.
That water separator is some bs, I used a oily bucket thinking it was going to be a little bit of water, yeah right, like 3 gallons came out that mfr of good diesel.. use a clean bucket just in case

Remember it's not a sample job for everyone and some jobs is no as easy as it sounds or looks ok you guys in UA-cam make it look easy but don't forget you are not finished yet you have to take filters to the proper place for Resacle end all the wasted diesel where you gonna put it in backyard or in the garage for your kids to play with it it takes more time job it's not finished till you Clear up your mess
We have numerous of these trucks in our fleet & having a video for reference is like a dream come true! Thank You.

Thanks for posting this. I changed mine today for the first time and it went very smooth! Cheers!
Thanks for the video. This is my first diesel truck. All the info helps.
Great video man, it helped me a bunch with the first time I changed my filter on my new truck.
Great video! What if you try and crank on it right away and get air in the system? How do you get it out?
Glad you made the point about not starting right away!
Curiosity would get the best of me I would want to cut that filter open the one under the hood to see if there was any junk inside. Another great vid bud 👊
Hey good idea maybe I’ll do that tomorrow and see what it looks like
Thank you, this video was perfect for a 2018 ford f550 tow truck

Makes things easier

Excellent explanation, thank you.
Well explained! Great video
Thanks !
Any advantage to occasionally draining just the water out ?
Then do the refill process .
Richard Duke yup for sure. Depends on what climate you are in but yeah you Shouid do that from time to time and then do the same priming procedure
The humid mid-south , Mississippi .
It’s a good idea. Even in warm climates you can get water in your fuel.
How do I prime the filter after changing? Thanks!
If you have a key use the key and cycle it 8-12 times you will hear the difference. If you have push button same thing
I Can't get the wire connection off the lower filter sensor. Does it just pull off?
Push in on the middle on one side

You must twist the housing off to stop the flow!

lol I do every 2nd oil change and no issues
Needed this thanks
Hey did you do the heater plug recall? I got a letter says ford has a replacement out. Would make a good video.
Steven Ruble Yeah got the same letter and called. I’m waiting till October when they door the door recall at the same time.

Why is Ford trying to sell me a different part number? 4641 vs. 4625?
Every how many miles should I change it ?
20,000 miles change your fuel filters
I broke that flimsy hose on the orange one. Weak ass piece of plastic. Trying to find a replacement piece. Ordered a doorman’s brand 800-188. Might fit, might not. Fingers crossed 🤞
cajun26bc Yeah man it is junk. They are like $200 for the full hose.
workplaytv yea went to ford and they wanted to charge me that much! Ridiculous
cajun26bc Yeah hopefully that works for ya
Good info prsctical ! 👍😊👍✔✔✔

Just make sure you have a good full tank of fuel when you do it. Some times it just takes longer
Aah that would do it, had a quarter. lol
Tried it on my 2016 6.7 f350.
Not good
After change and lots of cycles could not get air out and get it started.
Had to call dealer to pick up.
Now want to try again.
I’ve done it atleast 30 times. No issues

That’s weird. Never had that on 6 of these trucks
Were you able to fix it ?
Beware of the yellow drain (under side) , snapped off in my hand when I tightened it, easy on that guy .dealer had 1 in stock.🇺🇸
Yeah SPE makes an aluminum one
sandman62 I carry two spares in my truck, cheap inexpensive insurance, never know when you might have to drain it after a fill up
Excelent vid thank you 🙏
Great informative video 😊👍

$300 savings in NJ.. I’m doing the next one
15,000 miles max on the fuel filters.
There is no Z in diesel

Nah dump it in the birdbath and the kids can play with the filter.
