  • Welcome to RidgeLife. In this video, we demonstrate how to drain the water separator and change the upper and lower fuel filters as well as change the air filter in the 6.7L Powerstroke diesel engine on our 2017 Ford F-250 King Ranch Super Duty truck. We also discuss the modification Ford has done to the fuel return line connector to keep from breaking it during maintenance.

    I used this video last year to change my filters on my 2019 and it worked flawlessly! I also ordered that part you broke from the same place in Florida off of ebay as a "just in case". Fortunately i did not need it (as of yet!). I am getting ready to change out the filters again, so I watched this video again as a refresher! I salute you sir!

    I've watched several of the 6.7 Powerstroke fuel filter replacement videos on UA-cam. Yours is the first one I have found that was worth a flip. Good job and thanks for being honest about breaking your fitting. The only thing I could add to you video is placing a shop rag under the fittings on the filter under the hood before removing them. Again, great job with your video.

    5-28-24. I am not too mechanical inclined. My first time ever to change fuel filters on my 2017 F250 diesel. This video was very easy to follow and right on. There were two areas that were a little more for me. There was a lot more diesel drainage from the bottom filter than the video indicates. And, for me, the blue clip on the top filter gave me the most trouble to disengage. But for sure a thumbs up on the video

    I wish I would have watched your video first. The one I watched didn't explain this for the return line and I broke it off. Did a McGuyver repair to get it home and order a new clip.I think my McGuyver fix might be better! lol Use a piece of 3/8 fuel line with 2 hose clamps. It fits over the barb on the filter and fits over the hose with the broken barb still in it so the clamp doesn't collapse the fuel line. Tightened both clamps and drove it home. Nice video. Thanks

    Hi Ridge, I have a 2018 Ford lariat 6.7 250. and I was leaking out of diesel under the tank near where I changed the fuel filter and I was wondering if it was because I didn't change it on time, I think I let it go longer than I should have.

    • @RidgeLife
      @RidgeLife  9 місяців тому

      Naw that shouldn’t effect it. If it’s near the cartridge, I’d check the seal.

  • @rogernicosia1134
    @rogernicosia1134 Рік тому +2

    Good video but DO NOT assume the fuel will stop running as you drain the fuel water separator! Mine kept running and filled a whole bucket while I walked away and wasted a couple gallons of fuel as I just drained it into an old dirty bucket as I thought it would only be a little. There was also a shower of fuel as I dropped the cartridge for the filter and got fuel all over my driveway. Take away....it did not stop flowing with valve open on the fuel/water separator so keep an eye on and close it up after a quart or so.

      @@BillyHarrellH20 you’re saying to open the actual diesel fuel cap where you fill up, before releasing the water separator?
      I’ve seen a lot of comments on other videos saying they’ve basically emptied multiple gallons out of their tank because a vacuum is or can be created. They’ve mentioned other more difficult solutions but you’re saying just open the fuel cap and that prevents the vacuum that leads to dumping unnecessary fuel?
