Hey mate they have an official closed season which is spring time. September, October and November. In this time they are spawning, and vulnerable. Much easier to catch.

Absolute wicked start to the season Robbie! Making my way down to good old Wangaratta today to take the young bloke out on his first trip. He was a bit sceptical when I told him that if we're lucky we might even catch a fish in the middle of town, hopefully they're on the chew🎣

Thanks mate. hahaha I do not know that area at all, but I do know there are a few species of cod that look similar to Murray cod, such as the Mary River cod, but I don't know exactly where they are found.
@@robbiefishing yeah mate Mary river cod come from exactly there haha My local the nepean is fed from warragamba dam 👍🏼 The other species you were thinking of eastern cod and unfortunately even they seem a bit far to end up here But I have read that once warragamba dam was stocked with them, But we are talking a dam full of huge rainbow and brown trout, Most would have been eaten. I have heard of another dam that definitely was stocked with them 💯 and does feed into the river eventually but then again I don't know what else is stocked in that dam... Don't choke on your bacon sammich mate. Haha Murray cod are a truly amazing fish. These ones are tiddlers. They grow well over 100cm long.
