I love your vocabulary when you speak about fishing. I don't know if this comment will reach you. You have a beautiful voice and I find it to be extremely contrasted to other Australian fishing UA-cam channels. None of this over the top vocals. Just straight to the point. I hope you keep innovating and continuing on with your adventures. Love you Nev's Fishing!
Just a bit of advice Nev. Never wear gum boots on a boat etc. If you end up in the drink they fill with water and drag you under. Try getting gum boots off when full of water and your sinking.
I don't know Robert, lots of professional seafaring people wear boots that are pretty much a fancy gum boot. It's not like your tying concrete blocks or an anchor to your foot! When you are fully immersed in the water gum boots filling do not add much weight at all - close to neutral buoyancy if anything. I didn't mind wearing gum boots on the trawlers I worked on. When your portaging a kayak across stones gumboots could be a good thing.
@@brewstamacbeth981 I walk on the reef in them at times, thing is I can easily just straighten my foot and kick them off, i Have practiced in deep water with them on, now if they are laced tightly on, that might be more dangerous
@@MusMasi Hi Mus, well the thing about gum boots is they don't have any laces, so they are easy to kick off as you say. I agree they are good for walking across a reef. Both my son and I wear gumboots whilst wading across reef spearing fish. Cheers
Another great vid mate ! I think a lot of us need to get back to the bush now & then , reminds us how beautiful our country is & how simple entertainment can be. Thanks for this content mate I’m sure it inspires many.
Outstanding start for 2023 well done Nev, i enjoyed every cast and the excitement as the predators attack your lures was filmed to perfection big thumbs up from me.
What a lovely few days, I'm so jealous! I would love to do that, and catch a couple of Cod but I am physically unable too - I am fishing vicariously through you and I'm very happy to see you catch and release the fish. They are still listed as vulnerable, but thanks to fishers doing what you and many others do their numbers are on the increase. That area looked so peaceful, you could hear the sound of the river and the birds singing. Joyful! Thank you 😁
That's cool. That visual element to the fishing is such good fun. We have some similar sort of fishing for Trout here in Tas. It certainly gets the blood flowing! Well done.
Epic video Nev. Just echoing the advice about gumboots in the boat. It's the same for waders in the boat as well. Congratulations on the catches, well done. Love the added scenery shots too.
Another awesome Vid Nev. Now I got somewhere to go besides the Bay :) I used to fish up that way back when i was a youngster with my dad while on holidays (I'm 58), and remember some big fish being caught.
this video really got to me emotionally mate. seeing you endlessly drag the yak in your search is really what fishing is all about. LOVED IT great content and even better editing effort
one of your best videos ever Nev but you gotta taste on of those Murray's they're beautiful eating! I used to catch em with me Dad & they are the best tasting fish Ive ever had !
Loved the video mate ! I started the Murray cod journey in winter with a couple of trips to Eildon with no fish landed , it looks like the skinny water yields better results. Well done man 👍👊
Nice work mate. Bit of advice for holding your baitcast rig - hold the handle with the tang between your second and third finger and roll your thumb up over the top of the baitcaster's reel frame - much better control and leverage. Tight lines.
Great video like always Nev! it's always exciting when you catch a target species! All I've caught from freshwater is the "Mud Marlin" in my youtube videos🤣
If your still up that way, fish the pondage mate, a full of ex brude trout to be caught! Was in Wangaratta 2 weeks ago, fished the Oven’s at Warby Range Road, you could get the yak in their despite the steepish approach, caught a heap of cod land based, and a yella right at the end of the road, casting into the current and letting it settle.. Take a shrimp net, a mountain for shrimp around, perfect for Yellowbelly, just used cheese for both shrimp and Cod 😊
id love to see u do some more of this type of fishing (river) cod fishing and stuff man, love all ur vids either way tho and congrats on the beautiful fish
Probably your best video in terms of production and my 3rd favourite of yours. Loved you getting the Kingy and the 50 hood. You should try and hook up with Luka Gerkovich in Warrnambool. Absolute gun on the trout, tuna and kingies and prob your age too.
I loved watching your videos because I lived in myrtleford and would watch videos because we would go to Phillip island every year now you’re up where I am. I wish I was in Wang when you were there
That’s awesome Nev!! If you were up near Wangaratta you could’ve met the freshwater fishing king Robbie Alexander. Another thing as well if you try stumpjumpers the cod go crazy over them. People fish with them in lake eildon and catch monsters, there’s a lot of small coves with fallen trees and stuff away from all the boats and JetSkis where they live. It’s good you had fun I hope you can do some more freshwater fishing vids 👍🏻
Grt stuff mate! and yeh catching Murray cod is just spectacular. Quick question what was the hard body lure that you were using (the one that caught most of the fish). Thanks mate and keep up the vids.
Hey mate, Really good video! I have a tip for ya baitcaster, i see how you're holding just the rod but you can get alot more control over the fish if you put your thumb on the top left side of the reel and the rest of your fingers on the rod. Also decreases the risk of a massive fish ripping the rod outta ya hand haha. Sorry for the bad explanation
G'day m8. Just some info on the difference between Murray cod and trout cod. 1st a Murray will be more gold/brown while a trout cod will be more silver . 2nd the trout cod has a black stripe accross its eye. 3rd, trout cod have a over hanging top jaw where as the Murray has a protruding lower jaw. 👌
I actually believe that the first fish you caught in the video was a Trout-Murray cod hybrid. They often happen in in places where Trout cod are stocked and can occasionally happen naturally. Anyways, Love your videos!
Great stuff Nev. Good to see you doing some fresh water fishing too. And you don't have to wash the salt off your gear. It's beautiful country up there with a great mix of species. If you haven't already, check out Robbie fishing on UA-cam. He's born and bred in that area and is a wealth of information. Keep up the great videos mate. 👍
Love your videos Nev. i’m just about to go on my first Murray cod trip. Can I ask, what size Rod are you using and what size braid? Also do you always tie your lures straight to the leader or have a clip on the end to change them over quickly? Thanks.
