"I don't know why Merlot is getting bashed. Here, let me show you some of the best sellers. Wow. These do suck. So, sorry, I guess the movie was right."
i like that when looking for flavors and smells wine tasters look like psychics channeling spirits of a dead forest or garden. This is a great video btw
Miles in Sideways had an emotional reaction to Merlot because he longed for his ex wife. After seeing her at the wedding, Miles escaped into his depression through their Cheval Blanc (Merlot). It was after that he was able to move on and take the risk to reconnect with his new love. I hope people understand that. It wasn't a snob bash on the grape.
i like watching man, some times i have to check and make sure it isn't in fast forward (sorry that was a joke) you have a lot of great stuff but you should put some on here for the starter wine-o PS you got it all wrong, you should be drinking from a jets wine glass and spitting in a bills bucket DA BEARS!
Great Video clip! Sorry for the intrusion, I would love your opinion. Have you thought about - Lammywalness Green Grapes Guide (do a google search)? It is a good exclusive product for learning how to become a successful grape grower minus the headache. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my mate finally got amazing results with it.
Spitting wine into a Jets bucket? PLEASE! Are you serious?? Smoking Loon... my girlfriend likes it, so I won't go near it. The second wine, never had it, so no opinion. Blackstone... available at Walmart. No more comment needed. The fourth wine... never heard of it, my bad. Probably the best wine ever. I should check into it. Dude, keep swirling your wine glass and swishing it around in your mouth like a gargle 'n' rinse and the ladies will pounce on you like you have allways dreamed....or NOT!

MErlot can be very good. Problem is, there's so much bad Merlot out there. Pinot and others also, but not in the same proportion. EVERY Bordeaux I tried with more than 50% Merlot was not exciting. 30% max imho.
Almost every wine taste bitter to me, like compost of chokecherry. You tell me these are like chocolate or asparagus. That is why merlot is objectively disgusting. We want a grape that taste like kiwi, tangerine, or mango.
TravistheHuman it all goes down to preference. My taste is exactly what you have described as "disgusting". I love strong tanning, bitter sweet, lathering taste and when the fruity taste too much, I don't like as much, again, it's all about personal preference.
All this wine connoisseurship is a con. People don’t buy wine because of its taste - they buy it because it contains alcohol and gets you drunk. If alcohol didn’t exist and someone made a soft drink that tasted like wine - any wine - they would go broke because it wouldn’t sell. Wine enthusiasts are just drunks - the pretence of aestheticism and being an intellectual is just a rationalisation to excuse getting wrecked.

I like your vids! None of that stuck-up wine tasting crap, just good entertainment and information.

He rinses the glass out with the new wine that he is tasting and dumps it before filling it with the tasting wine.
Has anyone noticed that the " im not drinking any efen merlot" scene has been completely removed from youtube?
Merlot is growing on me ;)
why did i watch this whole thing? i don't even like wine...
We still love this episode, it's true that wine geeks and those in the industry should still taste wines that most consumers are drinking.

TBat87 thought the exact same thing. 😂😂😂
1 part good quality cherry preserves or jam + 2 parts German stone ground mustard. I use it with some thick cut, salty ham.
Gary is that you 🧐
Merlot? Never heard of it, did they just invent it
Too much wine? NO... too much Red Bull.

...did you ever have a good bordeaux from the right bank?

You might prefer cocktails...
I like moscato, pinot grigio, riesling, and almost anything that doesn't come from grapes. Dark wines are too dry. They are a bit heavy on tannin.
