- Today it's the war of the wine titans! Watch today as Gary tastes these four world renowned wines. See if these heavyweight wines measure up to the palette of Gary Vay-ner-chuk. Also a new QOD.
Love how Gary V calls it like he feels, I agree the Mondavi Cab Reserve is a great series, just drank and reviewed a 2005, which I loved
Classic tasting! thanks for all the inspiration Gary!
Good job an the 04 Caymus Special Selection: "I don't agree with Parker's 91-93 points, it's a 95 for me."
Parker later gave the wine 95 and 96 points (not often that he corrects himself by that margin).
2003 was a tough year in Napa and even the better wineries were not successful producing wines of their highly acclaimed pedigree.
2003 was an off year for everyone, but Opus One usually kicks it out of the park!
I agree with scoring without ANY reference to the price. Introducing price into the analysis throws everything out of whack
Gary what do you think of the use of Mega Purple?
I think Gary should be waiting to taste these wines on their 15th birthday…as they were designed!
Here in 2021
I got several other Opus One in the cellar. Vintages 2011, 2012, 2014. How would you rank them?
how come you're using the same glass for all the wines ?
Are these cut-scenes from a Sega CD wine tasting videogame?
Most of these comments are the very best examples for US people ....
interesting reviews
you forgot to rinse your glass twice before each wine in this tasting
I enjoy these video reviews... he does make some errors, like mispronouncing the term "Meritage" (which seems weird given he's an expert), but he's never boring, and does have a good general sense of wine. Makes some tasting faux pas like reusing same glass without rinsing, but all-in-all I find WineLibraryTV worth watching.. so far.
Speaking from experience. I saved an Opus One for 13 years to finally killed it. It was such a letdown. Drank it with several winos. We were all dumbfounded. And it was the 2003
I've tried Opus 1 twice, didn't like it either time. 😕
Love Mondavi Reserves...
Regular Caymus my wife Loves, I usually think it's too much fruit and no depth, never tried Special, yet.
Opus One is fantastic, but 2003 wasn't a good vintage unfortunately
Much more interest and credibility would be created if the wines were tasted blind. It is very biasing to know what wine you are tasting. The show needs two other knowledgeable participants, and two more wines - a first growth French Bordeaux of similar age and a cheaper Napa Cab, but I can't emphasize enough the importance of tasting under rigorous, blind conditions. After tasting them all, discuss number one, then reveal it, and so on, through number six. Then you'd have a *GREAT show*.
2003 was an off year for Napa Cab.
He just compared an 03 Insignia to a $9 bottle ($100/cs) wine equally as good...you've got to be kidding me
Opus has appreciated the most! crazy
Right? $125 for a 2003?! It's 2020 and I would buy cases if it was still that price.
@@chrisginoc watching this in 2020 I almost fell out of my chair when he said 125
@@SageConnel 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Your passing on Opus One? Surprising...
Agree, but don't hear many pronounce it as "Heritage"
bitterness is not a bad thing about wines my friend, there's so much more to say about a 03 opus one, such a superb wine, we all have different taste of course..but bad???, i don't know whats wrong about that bottle but i strongly doubt it's bad!!, taste it again please, also you don't need to decant it for 6 hrs.!, leave it there for 30/40 mins and the job'll be done believe me
who else laughed when he said broccoli and asparagus lol. great video.
This guy is awesome - so is this show.
This video touted here: "Can virtual wine tastings be saved?" from Meininger's Wine Business International (April 17, 2020).

He just spit out like $400!!!
opus usually rocks!
gary is a wine guy for the bro-crowd but fairly entertaining .
Meritage rhymes with heritage.
Wait, this really Gary V?
Darth Vayner
Wow opus 125 dollars, that has gone waaaaaaay up.😢
My guy
Gary is the man, drinking some Caymus as we speak
I LOVE OPUS ONE! Drink it all the time when I'm working in the studio.
How can you not swallow these wines... dude, come on
2018 someone?
Yop
2019 ? Opus One $125 ??? Today is $330
wren460 I wonder if it was overture?
yep opus has appreciated the most, great wine with age, really benefited with 1st growth boom.
haha. Watched this for some laughs...what a mook. I give him 95 points for doucheyness...profound effort :D
Caymus? 95 points? MAYBE Special Selection, but not everyday Caymus. One thing Caymus has going for it is consistency for sure though.
I would give the special selection all of 95
Caymus is always delish wine
Baron Aflite? And you call yourself a wine expert? It’s Lafite. and Opus One isn’t even Lafite, it’s Baron Phillipe and Mondavi. Seriously.
Fuckin awful tasting! Spitting out opus and dumping it lmao 😂 wish it was still 125$ a bottle, it’s 300-350$ now
Wine abuse.
Normalize your videos please. You just woke my cat and now I will have my arm eaten for the next hour. Because, skin the human is the only ggame she knows, besides shred the human.
Great info, just please get some volume continuity between your videos and keep the record level in the green.
Gary, learn to pronounce your last name.
this guy is so annoying... just a seller a good talker...he is judging wines instantaneously, wine requires to have at least a minute to discover all the potential.... Using same glass is embarrasing, I can go on all day long, but for what for to waste my time....
