I bought my Explorer 2, 29 years ago and have worn it almost every day since. I rarely bother to take it off! Sleep with it, shower with it, swim with it, work with it. I wanted something bulletproof, subtle, versatile and clean. Have had only routine service just 3 times all these years. Great utility, great feel as a traditionalist and its tripled in value after all these years of ownership. Few other objects can boast that kind of value.
Couldn’t agree more! Explore II instantly became my daily wearer from the day it joined my collection. I originally bought this black dial Explore II as a much-earlier-to-get temporary substitute for the Batman I wanted. But I have grown to love its discreetness which contributes a lot to its absolute versatility overall.
all brushed is so much more versatile. Everyone loves the polar but to me the black is such a strong look. More so than most of the pretty professional models. I'd take that over any sub any day. Very cool watch.
Excellent as ever. I would suggest that not attracting unwanted attention is central to versatility, if we insist on *any* situation, so that will lead back to OP / Exp .
The classic OP (and Explorer) have so much to offer in that simple package. I love that the history of Modern Rolex can be traced to them. Basic, no fuss and historic 🥃
Traded in my DJ 36 126200 and Omega SMP 300M for a black 226570 Exp II two weeks ago. It never left my wrist since. The perfect 'just one watch collection'. I'm amazed by it's legibility. Being over 50 with 'aged related eyesight' a welcome advantage! (a DJ is a fine watch but the nowadays polished centrelinks are to much...) Exellent vids! you're putting a lot of work into them!
Great episode. For me, a versatile watch is a GADA watch - goes anywhere, does anything. The two Rolexes that best fit that description for me are my 36mm OP and my 36mm Explorer. The difference? My OP (with green dial) is classy, yet also sporty. The Explorer is sporty, yet also classy. Both are appropriate with a suit and tie at a wedding or business meeting, or with a swim suit at the pool or beach.
Brilliant video and I agree totally. I love wearing the Explorer 2 (polar dial). It was my first ever Rolex that I bought new in 2004 (with a 20% discount), but sadly sold it a few years ago. But I now have the latest iteration and love it just as much, probably more!
Here in Italy if you’re Italian you only wear sandals at the beach, you only wear shorts if you are near the sea (never in a city) so the watch you wear must also suit the surroundings.
Great video. I don't think I could boil it down to a single option. For me, the bracelet plays a crucial role when it comes to versatility so a person needs at least one Oyster and one Jubilee in the collection. And so with that for me its something like: 1) DJ with Jubilee and smooth bezel. 2) Either A) Sub No Date or B) Exp II. This gives one of each of the iconic bracelets and one each of the sports and classic cases. Boom, you've got all situations covered.
Great video as always - and great timing for me to chime in. I just purchased my first luxury watch, the Rolex Explorer ref 114270. It's a 36 mil from 2006 with the 3130 movement. Been looking at this piece for a very long time and I'm honored to have it. Bought it for its versatility and under the radar good looks. Love the bracelet on this model as well. So many "one watch" candidates out there - but this is my choice. Cheers to you from Tucson, Arizona!
The discontinued anniversary black GMT for me with the green GMT hand. More subtle than the other gmts, classier than a sub with the polished centre links
@@chriselley2261 that's brilliant Chris, do you have a dress watch or a beater you supliment it with?? I think it covers pretty much all but extreme bases
@@tomclowes5874 Hah, yes, I have a bit of a problem. Higher end pieces are an all yellow gold Sub with blue dial, meteorite GMT Pepsi, and Platona with diamond markers. I wear all of them regularly, but only the black GMT at work (airline pilot). Great channel! Cheers
For me it is the JC Deepsea. I have owned, pre ceramic and ceramic Subs, date and no date variations, 36mm Explorer and black dial and polar Ex2 (5 digit versions) and also pre ceramic Sea Dweller. Last month I consolidated my collection into one watch. The JC. It suits my casual/smart casual style and I find it’s sinks into my wrist, so the profile does not appear to thick. I have owned many brands of watches over my last 13 years of crazy watch obsession, but finally have that one watch to rule them all. Been just over a month, so will see how it goes.
I think Rolex really got the 226570 Explorer II completely right from the matte hands to the matte dial and indices to the 22mm bracelet and clasp. This watch looks and feels great on my 16.5 cm/6.5 inch wrist. To some the face may look cartoonish, but I like punchy easy to read. Kudos Rolex🤌
I have a black dial DJ on oyster with smooth bezel. Personally I feel the elements of polishing give it that extra versatility over an OP or ExII in a dressier setting, but still more muted than precious metals/fluted bezel variants. Picked it for the versatility option, so it’s fun to see one of my favorite content creators address the same subject! The Pepsi gmt would be my second choice as most versatile as the added gmt function would be great (same as per your arguments for the exii), but I prefer it on a jubilee which would be a bit more ostentatious even though I’ve seen it work amazingly with all outfits. Keep up the great work
Have a family friend who has worn his for what must be over 20 years daily and it's crazy how it still rides under the radar. Doesn't look garish at all (but then he has big wrists and the 36mm size looks dainty) 😆@@HRM.H
Sorry but this is just No if we're talking a TT with standard 18k gold bezel... a soft, fluted material just doesn't hold up to daily wear unless you take it off every time you do the slightest work. Which, if you do will wear the clasp out instead. Just so you know, for some "one watch" means you basically Never take it off, except to clean it. Perhaps no longer warranted in this day of cell phones, and lume on older watches can be a challenge to read, half asleep, w/one eye open... Personally i feel if your going to be saddled with gold fluted bezel, just go straight to the President. The you get the day-of-the-week, which is a Really nice complication, really very Rolexy, and once you retire a great sense of ease (kicks back, puts feet up... "what day is it again" 😉) ~
The Rolex catalogue is so diverse, there are no bad choices. My choice (and a watch I hope to add to my collection) is the Explorer I in 39 mm. Iconic, uncluttered, yet versatile and can be worn "under the radar". Awesome content as always, this was a great video to enjoy with my Saturday morning coffee. Cheers!
You have your thoughts together on this Jason. The OP and Explorer range feel so great and harken back to what OG Rolex was about. Simple, legible and all the rest. Nicely said and thank you brother! Have an excellent weekend! 🥃
Grea video brother, i think nothing beats the Datejust. I wore to the beach and to important meetings, never let me down. I would say the Explorer II is a close second, cause of the additional timezone.
It is amazing how the Datejust continues to thrive all these years later (and never skips a beat) Have a family friend who has worn his TT Datejust for what must be over 20 years now and it still rides under the radar. Have an excellent weekend brother! 🥃
Good discussion, valuable rundown of all the core models. On choice I would say it is personal. The most versatile daily wear would depend on what you do daily ? Any choice would not be one size fits all, whether someone is in business, sport, adventure, pilot, diver, musician, would indicate that persons best suited 'daily wearer'. So to try to answer the question in your title, I reckon there is no single answer. There will be people who are in the one and done camp but they are rare in our world. Me ? I now have over 50 pieces from many watch brands to cover what I am doing, where I am, work, pub, wedding or even who I will be with or basically just what mood I am in. This could never be covered by one piece. Its a bit like the guitars that appear behind you, Fender, Martin, Gibson, there is no one size fits all. Could you pick just one ??
Nice one. I agree totaly! Own a Exp2, but the 16570. The lack of Orange, the Black dial and the more balanced Size, makes it in my opinion the perfect all-everything watch
Privileged to own a few of the brand. Bought a Coke in PE 1998, and as a pilot, it was worn continuously until I bought a Batman in 2016, with its blue sky, day and black night is to me a correct representation of the day night aspect which I use whilst travelling. Keep up the work, it’s well done and great to watch…
Great Video! Also, a tough subject, since there are many good choices. I think I have narrowed it down to a clear winner. Number 1 is the two tone GMT, especially the one released this year with the black and grey bezel. This watch can do anything for me. There is a bit more going on with the dial, it's basically a submariner, it can do both dressy and casual. I also like to switch straps and I think it looks really good with NATOs and rubber straps and since there is a little gold on it, I have my daily bit of bling and get to collect my scratches, although I think an oyster bracelet is a more fitting choice to get scratches. To elaborate a bit on the topic of scratches, I like wear on my watches. I think this gives a watch more character and gold gets scratched easier.
I‘m completely in line with your verdict and my favorite Rolex is the polardial Explorer II, too. Never been able to afford one, still really want one.
I wear my panda Daytona every day. It suits formal and social occasions and is very robust - apart from the polished centre links, it looks new after 3 years of regular wear!
Great video. Any Rolex with the date window and a rotating bezel. I have 2 Daytonas and never use the chronograph function because you have to unscrew the pushers….plus the Sub has glide lock clasp
Those screw in pushers are the biggest curse... how frustrating is it having to suddenly think "wait, I need to unscrew them first" and by then the moment has passed 😆 Thanks for sharing this Rob 🥃
I used to disagree, but now I agree!! I just like that it's(Explorer II) more subtle than the other models while still having date functionality. I think the black dial would be the way to go, but the white dial sure is beautiful.
I have a few Rolex, but looking at my spreadsheet, it shows that in 2023 I've worn my Polar Exp II over 60 times. My next most worn Rolex is my Pepsi on jubilee....at 33 days worn. The Polar seems to be the one I prefer to wear over all others. I would wear it in practically any occasion except swimming....which I haven't even done this year.
@@IDKline yeah. I just have an excel spreadsheet with each watch listed. If I wear it on a day, a 1 gets put in the box. Gives me up to date monthly and yearly total wears. And it's not like it's a lot of work. It's on my desktop so it take likes 5 seconds to do every day.
Picking the most versatile Rolex is like herding cats 🐈 Historically the DJ has outsold any other model by a huge margin-suggesting versatility. Unfortunately, I’ve never been able to crack the code on the most versatile Rolex which is why I have 4 of them. I’ll be interested in what’s in your green box -best regards 😎!
Sold my explorer ii after just a few months. Its a lovely looking watch and build quality is incredible. I found it too chunky and head heavy. You're always aware it's on your wrist. I think comfort is not often considerd. 16570 or 1675 or 5513 or any 40mm daytona is the sweet spot for most people
Another excellent video! You've clearly stated my exact thought process for why I decided on the Explorer II for my DD. It's a great blend of subtlety (if a Rolex can be subtle) and functionality. Still waiting for it however....black dial here for less attention. The sub is a close second. My uncle, a school teacher, has worn his everyday since 1968. I love that too!
Good vid, like the white dial Explorer 2 a lot. For me I would probably go with the original Explorer for a daily. The OP is a great choice too a given the choice of dial colours, good water resistance and a simple layout.
The black dial Explorer 2 is the best everyday all rounder. The blue DJ 41 with the oyster bracelet with the smooth bezel is the best for work and play. These are the two watches that I wear the most.
I have recently purchased this watch, the white dial 216570. There is a dissonance in the dial that has kept me fascinated, in a way that no other watch has before. I think it’s the white dial, with black outlined lume and the orange GMT hand and text - it doesn’t quite match, but in a fascinating way, hence the dissonance.
I really enjoy my gmt master 2 - works equally well with a suit and tie or a t shirt. I'd love an explorer 1 in 36mm or a sea dweller with no cyclops though!
I have just sold my Milgauss GV Black, I wear my Tudor Pelagos FXD mn23 and Seiko Bullhead 1976 in rotation. My 2000 Sea Dweller is unworn since 2014. I think the Santos de Cartier is ultimately a great versatile watch, from Dress, to Water and everything in between
Im a proud owner of both a datejust (41mm blue) and Rootbeer. I absolutely love both watches. Although, i personally think a Sub or Explorer 1 is the best daily watch out of the catalogue.
I love the Explorer 2, but for me, the bezel precludes it from being “a watch for every occasion”. For the handful of nights a year that I attend a black tie event, I’d be unhappy with the X2. My slightly left-field pick would be the Milgauss. The anti-mag is as important (if not more) as water resistance in the modern world. That being said, sadly I can’t really afford either of them! 😢
I have the five digit black dial explorer 2 and it is absolutely the best daily wearer (for me). The additional complications make it super practical versus the plain OP or explorer 1 and is also something to spice up the watch while keeping me engaged with it. Wearability is also fantastic (which sadly I can’t say is the same for the 6 digit variants…). I only wish Rolex made a 40mm more elegant modern version of the explorer 2… :) thank you for this video and love your content!
I think the DJ is probably the best all rounder, but the older versions with brushed lugs used to make it much more versatile than it is now with polished lugs. Would be cool to see a modern engine turned bezel option on a modern DJ someday too.
I agree with the explorer ii, I bought a blue OP41 last year thinking that it is gonna be the most versatile one that I will enjoy, but as I wore more and more it became just a simple time only "rolex" and I kept preferring tudor black bay 58 black or Speedmaster more, hence realizing that I want more substance while being bit subtle. Heck these watches are all already very expensive, so why not have more fun with it, and make it interesting enough experience.
Great video, as usual. You are the master of "setting up questions" or "raising issues" that are quintessentially representative of our madness as watch collectors, and of course they have no objective answer or solution. I particularly identify with this one because I feel like I've spent half of my 34 years on this planet asking myself the same thing! Bravo, maestro!
And for anyone interested: just a fun little story of my quest :) 1. I fell in love with the Milgauss when I was 18, and after 7 years of not being able to afford it, I finally got myself one. 2. However, perhaps out of fear of wearing it, scratching it... getting robbed... my brain became obsessed with the idea of adding a "one-and-done" perfect "every day" Rolex... and after months of research and mental gymnastics I concluded the 14060M was the one and only watch anyone would ever need and the most versatile, too. 3. They were everywhere... all of a sudden I saw submariners everywhere. Ubiquitous to London, Munich, Paris, New York... everywhere I went there it was, laughing at me. At ME, the great survivor and explorer of Zone 1 and the Eurostar... versed in multiple expeditions to Richmond Park and yearly diving expeditions to Ibiza. I couldn't stand it. Such was my disillusionment I sold it after only a year. 4. I was going to outsmart them all: The perfect Rolex... nobody knew was a Rolex... 40mm Exp2 polar on a grey nato. Perfection, the ultimate "if you know you know" watch, with GMT functionality! I did it!!! But... why does the cyclops bother me so much... and wouldn't the black version have been even more understated and "field watch-y"? Gosh imagine a black Exp2 on a khaki nato.... but what about the cyclops? Ffff*****ck. 5. The explorer ONE was the one I had been looking for! Of course!!! It was so obvious... but... those numerals... I don't wanna say anything because surely not every watch collector ever can be wrong... right? They are awfully chavvy.... but what if the real explorer was hiding in plain sight? Black OP39.... brown leather strap or nato... boom. Just another watch to 99.9% of the population, but MY true luxury field watch. And then I can put on a black alligator strap on and turn it into the classiest of dress watches!! I am basically James Bond. Many, MANY straps and iPhone pics later... after years of exciting undercover missions to work, Sainsbury's, and Tate Modern and Mark's on Saturdays... I made the fatal mistake of asking myself the question: Is this watch... is it a bit boring? I love everything about it, the strap game, how understated it is, the symmetry... but I wish it had something... just a little something to make me smile every now and then. If only there was a time only, symmetrical watch just like this one, just a bit more fun...! And then it hit me, and it hit me hard... 8 years... 8 years (!) I had been obsessing over this... could it be? I went to my safety deposit box... I took it out... I held a khaki canvas strap over the bracelet and... perfection. Rolex Milgauss GV black on a military khaki strap.
My recent daily wearer is the new Explorer ll polar dial, i bought it on my birthday from the AD a few months ago, i love it even at 42mm it suits the DNA of this robust legendary watch.
Explorer II is Rolex's last remanining tool watch. All the other Rolex models have become jewellery items with two tone options including its younger brother Explorer I...........This makes Explorer II the most versatile / toughest Rolex....
Steel Oyster Perpetual or Date Just with a smooth bezel is the most versatile Rolex there is. Good mix of Dress and Sports. GMT Master II is also in the conversation.
Great question ID guy…I have played that scenario many times in my mind but I am still on an imaginary wait list at my local AD for either a no date sub ,GMT master 2 sprite or green OP41. In the meantime I’m still rocking my everyday workhorses: Breitling Galactic41, Tudor BBGMT, Omega Speedmaster, Seamaster Prof300 and Hamilton Maestro Chronograph w valjoux 7750
Speaking of versatility, I think size and thickness is an important criteria. Rolex is indeed king of versatility, but with increasing sizes of 41, 42mm I feel that limits choices for smaller wrists if « discretion » is an important factor (I think it is). Sub, GMT, Milgauss, Air King, Explorer II used to be thinner and smaller, more wearable for the smaller wrists…. A shame it’s no longer the case.
Sold my Explorer 2 white dial two months ago and purchased a Batman off the grey market. Always knew my explorer was the best daily ever but had to have the Batman. Two months in I wish I had the explorer back. Love the white dial and muted center bracelet link. Live and learn.
For me it’s my 2021 Sub Date (black dial). But I think a smooth bezel, oyster Datejust, OP or an Explorer are even more versatile. Perhaps the OP or Explorer due to the lack of PCL. The beauty is, any watch could be a daily. Look at Jack Nicklaus with his gold day date. The key is to wear it and make it your own.
That's the underlying great thing about this brand in particular, there are just too many excellent options to name and any of them could be daily's. It's always down to the wearer. Well said brother 🥃
For me it’s the Sub Date, and I should be getting mine soon which is exciting! Yes, it is more recognizable than I care for, but it has the robustness that lets my mind rest easy in any daily situation.
I don't care what anyone says, nobody will ever convince me a dive watch is suitable to wear with a suit. Formal dress requires a formal dress watch. I love my dive watch, but I would never consider wearing it with a suit. The architecture of the Oyster Perpetual case works better as a compromise between informal and formal dress - dependent on scale. I say scale not size because on a small wrist a 34mm might be the right scale whereas a larger watch on a larger wrist will be appropriate. A large Oyster Perpetual on a small wrist will not work with formal dress, and is therefore less versatile. A subtly scaled O.P. case, particularly in steel, will work for formal dress (which is the harder side to satisfy), but will be perfect for casual attire. In my opinion, there are no dive watches that are truly flexible/versatile enough to satisfy the requirements of formal dress. It's like trainers with a suit, you can do it of course, but I don't think it ever really works.
Fantastic video: I can tell you that the no date 114060 sub is a tremendous travel watch. It’s under the radar, versatile, goes with everything, glidelock clasp makes it always comfortable, and doesn’t wave “rob me” to onlookers. A superb, near perfect watch even 75 years after its release.
214270 mk2. 39mm perfection however have exp2 polar on the wait list so I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve spent some time with it. Another great video 👌👏
Great video. Versatile Watch choices are a fun one…. Here’s a budget choice that doesn’t have a timing option but is very versatile otherwise: Hamilton Khaki Field auto
I purchased an Explorer II in 2006 and have worn it every day for the last 18 years. (The only exception is when I sent it to Rolex to be serviced). I love it. The only other Rolex I would consider buying is the platinum day date, as I think it is "big daddy" of watches and can be worn in many situations. Either way, my Explorer II will always be my "daily driver".
The "Polar" Explorer 2 shines best in low light. This is when you see all of the different subtleties that make this a special watch. Most notably the brushed bezel, the thin polishing on the edge, the domed glass, the glint of the "ROLEX" on the rehaut, the raised and over-sized hour markers - all of these get a bit washed-out when in daylight, in the arctic landscape you all envision visiting with this watch. But, it is in the low light in your living room that all of these little details stand out and make you appreciate how much more dynamic this watch is than your Sub or even GMT Master 2. I own both and love them and actually wear them more than my Explorer 2 but with the help of this review it is clearer to me why I will always have the "Polar".
Even though against the conventions, I still like the look of a DJ on Jubilee but domed bezel. Looks so sleek and discreet. Oh, and I‘d love to see a smaller Explorer II, sub40mm
I absolutely agree. The Explorer II is most versatile and offers so much Rolex watch for a great price. The white dial and black bubble hands are so unique compared to all other Rolex and the versatility. Hands down their best watch especially the polar.
Currently rocking the Explorer I. The other piece I would say is the two tone GMT. Beach to boardroom, most Rolex pieces work, which is the genius of their line up.
Controversial choice! Not the most loved Rolex sports model by any means but I see your reasoning. I have the 16570 polar version and it gets as much wrist time as any of my other watches. If I had to choose one watch is would be the 124270 Explorer though. Who cares what date it is or what the time is in NYC?
Wonderful video. My choice would be the Batman on Oyster. 1. Totally agree on the bracelet choice. The oyster is the most versatile. 2. The water resistance of 100M is more than enough for 99% of us out there. 3. Date is an important complication. 4. GMT function is a great modern tool even with world clock functionality on our phones. 5. To your point…Rolex wearers often fly it under the radar and love a discreet look. The discreet look of the Batman’s black and blue is beautiful and understated vs the far more popular Pepsi and I truly feel the Batman is more at home in more situations. 5. The GMT master 2 with its PCL can be dressed up a little better than the Sub or the Exp 2. All opinions obviously but for this watch guy the Batman wins this. Cheers.
That's what's so fascinating about the brand! It's insane how diverse yet versatile almost every watch in their collection is. There aren't any wrong choices 😉
I'm one of those guys too that needs a rotating bezel... especially when doing things. Such a pity that we don't get models like the "Thunderbird" or "turn-o-graph" today for that reason. Nicely put Chris, thank you! 🥃
My black dial Explorer II hasn't been off my wrist since I picked it up about 6 weeks ago. Has everything you need, unless that's a rotating bezel for timing purposes. It is a large watch though, so with the black dial appearing slightly smaller than the polar, I would say this is the more versatile option.
The steel submariner is pretty versitile, just because of how refined and dressy it is with the white gold on the bezel and the polished steel. So you can dress it up pretty easily. Agree with the easy answer. 😂
The Big Question: What is the Most Versatile / Do-It-All Rolex in your opinion? 🥃

This gives one of each of the iconic bracelets and one each of the sports and classic cases. Boom, you've got all situations covered.
My vote is the Explore I - original size. Classic. Understated. Slides under the cuff. Doesn’t shout for attention. Can do M to F or the weekend.

Keep up the great work
The answer never changed for me, Rolex Explorer 1 36mm
A stellar choice all round!🥃
Check the Nivada Grenchen Super Explorer.
@@kaczynski2333 hmmm ok
@@kaczynski2333 I think you mean the Super Antarctic.
For me, nothing beats a classic two-tone 36mm Datejust with a fluted bezel on a jubilee.
Classic and timeless. Must say, not much else screams Rolex as loudly as the OG TT DJ 😉🥃
@@ID-Guythats for sure. Its not quiet but 100% classic Rolex and surprisingly versatile!
Hmm I’d say the 41mm Datejust but without the fluted bezel. I enjoy your videos and you always have interesting insights into design!
Explorer 1 for me, 36mm. Or even better the look alike Oyster Perpetual with a stunning blue 3-6-9-dial (116000)
I ordered my DJ41 with a smooth bezel on the Oyster bracelet and blue dial. More subtle and sporty looking.
Very nice 👌🏻
I‘m completely in line with your verdict and my favorite Rolex is the polardial Explorer II, too. Never been able to afford one, still really want one.
Explorer 1 36mm
Can’t argue with that one 😉 OP DNA, old-school arabics on the dial, great size 🥃
I wear my panda Daytona every day. It suits formal and social occasions and is very robust - apart from the polished centre links, it looks new after 3 years of regular wear!
i luv your videos. Every time I think I have decided my next purchase, you give me something else to consider. Now I have more to consider
Really means a lot reading this brother and thank you! Always enjoy trying to stir the pot in the other direction 😉
Nice going for the Black dial version. Agree! 🥃
It’s the most appealing dial they’ve made. Every time I look at it I think to myself how unique and perfect it all is.
I really enjoy my gmt master 2 - works equally well with a suit and tie or a t shirt.
I'd love an explorer 1 in 36mm or a sea dweller with no cyclops though!
SD4k - Wow! 116600
I’m guessing you finally got the Rolex Explorer 36 or 40.
I have just sold my Milgauss GV Black,
I wear my Tudor Pelagos FXD mn23 and Seiko Bullhead 1976 in rotation.
My 2000 Sea Dweller is unworn since 2014.
I think the Santos de Cartier is ultimately a great versatile watch, from Dress, to Water and everything in between
I am after a seadweller if you want to sell ?
Im a proud owner of both a datejust (41mm blue) and Rootbeer. I absolutely love both watches. Although, i personally think a Sub or Explorer 1 is the best daily watch out of the catalogue.
Agreed. Explorer 2, in white.
The great thing about Rolex is that every model can be an everyday wear. That said, Explorer 1 gets my vote right now.
Agree with you 100%!! Explorer II all the way.
For me & my wrist...14270 Explorer. Nothing else comes close, not even a 1016.
For me the most versatile Rolex would be either the Explorer 2 and the GMT Master.
Well thought out and stated. You got this right. The Explorer II (“polar” dial) 42mm case is the best “do-it-all” modern Rolex.
And for anyone interested: just a fun little story of my quest :)
I'd mark this essay a C+ for effort but I cant give a higher grade because the answer was omega aqua terra the whole time@@AnaInTh3Sky
My recent daily wearer is the new Explorer ll polar dial, i bought it on my birthday from the AD a few months ago, i love it even at 42mm it suits the DNA of this robust legendary watch.
Helluva great birthday gift to yourself (AND I know the feeling) Stellar piece brother! And I should say congratulations 😉🥃
Nice to see a bit of love for the explorer 2...been wearing one for around 8 years for some of the reasons you bring up.
I think it’s about what’s the one watch for you! For me I absolutely love the OP36… love the simplicity and detail
36 mm Explorer 1. Done
Explorer II is Rolex's last remanining tool watch. All the other Rolex models have become jewellery items with two tone options including its younger brother Explorer I...........This makes Explorer II the most versatile / toughest Rolex....
I got to say the datejust or yachtmaster are the best daily watches for a lot of people.
Agree Explorer II is the King.❤
Couldn't agree more. My black dial Explorer II gets 10X the wrist time of anything else in my collection.
@@ID-Guy Thanks bro.
Keep up the great content. You’re a good man! 🥃
Id have to say the 36mm Explorer 1 or the Sub Date
For me it’s the Sub Date, and I should be getting mine soon which is exciting! Yes, it is more recognizable than I care for, but it has the robustness that lets my mind rest easy in any daily situation.
I tend to my BLNR most due to corporate work environment, but I might also agree that in both corporate and casual, Exp II is likely most versatile.
Beg to differ. Two tone submariner specifically the bluesy can be worn formal and then at the same time would be at home on the beach.
My choice would either be the 124060 Sub or 40mm Explorer. My current do-it-all watch is the FXD black.
For me its either the Explorer 1 or the Submariner. Bother can seemingly be worn on anything at any time
They make for an excellent duo too, right? Sub for the beach and Explorer for the evening 😉
Explorer 1
Glad we all have our preferences and opinion. Sub date. Or any diver (with or without a date).
Hard to argue with that Rob, my collection so far is 3/5th's Diver - we obviously have our preferences 😆🥃
I'd agree with this if the current Exp 2 wasn't 42mm with a lug to lug of over 50. Hence, I will go with the sub instead.
Your reasoning is sound Jason 😉🥃
Lol another teaser at the end, can’t wait to hear that story now 😂
The black Explorer 2 in a 40mm would be spot on. The black on the polar makes luxury look basic. IMO
I AGREE!! That's why I bought the black dial Explorer II a couple years ago.
Cheers.
I agree Explorer II, but to be honest they are all versatile, that’s the beauty of Rolex.
That's what's so fascinating about the brand! It's insane how diverse yet versatile almost every watch in their collection is. There aren't any wrong choices 😉
I love my Explorer 40 which does everything I want in an understated and classic way.
I like the cliffhanger at 11:57 ♥
I love the Exp II, the older 40mm version. It would be perfect for me if the bezel rotated! Not because I dive, but for cooking stuff on the grill…
