Wood does work but is heavy and can be expensive, but Wood can be the cheapest way to go, if you go into Home Depot go to the stash they want to dump, they sell it 70% off. The boards may be warped but I use the smallest DeWalt table saw to straighten the boards up. Instead of 2x4's if you are not putting extreme weight on it, you can trim the boards down to 2x3's or whatever you want to lighten the slider. This video shows roller ball slides which are cheaper than buying larger slider drawer rails, and to get the right slides they would have to be rated for lots of weight, where these slide balls are using the truck bed and tailgate for strength.
Great looking build, what I would do is Add the berrings or wheels to the underside of the drawer as well to help even the wear on the 2x6 and keep the weight to a minimum vs adding the plywood to the bottom.
Yeah, this is what I had in mind for a rollout bed. Something strong enough to hold all my modular boxes and saws for easy access. What may end up happening is a second rollout above the first for carrying materials when I don't want to hook up my trailer or just to have more square footage for tools. I'll build an extra tall topper first for plenty of head room.
Great video simple build might do the plywood on the bottom like you said but switch to 2x4s

Another thought is you could add 1/8" thick metal strips on the top and bottom edge of your 2x6?
Yeah I did think about that. But, to much pressure on just the outside bearing that are close to the end
The “best” is a pretty bold statement, sir.
Best I have seen
How did you build this?
What’s Up Jacob! When’s the next Livestream coming?
