I unironically want NSMBDS to be in Mario Maker at some point. I think it would make the game feel much more like "an evolution of mario." It's wierd going from 2 NES games to an SNES game then all the way to 2 HD Wii U games. It'd be really cool to see the sprite art in HD and have 32 bit songs in the game
I thought I was the only one. And it's not like the other NSMB games which basically all look like the wii u version. The models, graphics, and music is all different so I never understood why they never put it in SMM.

I imagine the main reason there's a lot of SM64 DS assets in the game's files is because New Super Mario Bros. likely used the Super Mario 64 DS Engine. It also explains why the same mini games are there as well.
The co-op being removed hurts me more than all of the other cut content. That would have been so much fun with my buddy when we were younger. Star Battle was alright, but the co-op would have been much better. Or both.

I heard they gave the developers a more powerful experimental DS (nitro) so they scrapped off a lot of things from the intended game so it could work on an actual publicly released DS.
In Super Mario Bros. they left more then 100 unused levels, but made only 2 frames for Goomba, because they didn't have enough memory to make more complicated first enemy
I remember always getting the Mega Mushroom and purposely going to World 8-Bowsers Fortress, and beating the final boss over an over, idk why, I loved it.
To be honest I really dislike the New Super Mario Bros games' textures and models. It looks like tacky claymation to me. It feels like a huge step down in style than the games before it. But I understand why people like it.

Fun fact: New Super Mario bros ds was supposed to be a 2d version of sm64ds as it has the full moveset there are also mitigames from sm64ds.There were also characters from sm64ds intended to be on this game but got cut.There also are animations from sm64ds in New Super Mario bros ds used when you get a key and there are voice clips from sm64ds there.
man, if they ported the entire New Super Mario Bros. collection to Switch I would definitely buy it. I think I'd buy U Deluxe at 30€ and tbh I feel Mario U Deluxe would have of been a better choice than Super Mario Maker 2 for me and I think it would be really fun co-op. Today, I completed New Super Mario Bros. 2 for the 2nd time and I have to be honest that I liked every level in NSMB2 more than every level I have played in Super Mario Maker 2, both Story and Online levels. That said, I don't regret buying Mario Maker 2 because you can create your own levels and the online multiplayer was really fun, I just wish Mario Maker 2 had a lot more stuff that you could put in your own levels and that online was free

I don’t think the Poképark games would have enough for a full episode, but maybe enough for a shorter episode. Just saying!
TCCO Mini was an idea that I had a while ago, but never did it because I wanted to make sure there were a lot of actual TCCO episodes first. It might be a good possibility now, though.

Maybe the koopa at 1:49 was intended for a cutscene or maybe and object hitting him over. Or maybe meant for any time giant mushroom mario steps near or on him. Or maybe when the lighting bolt at 2:47 was used it would make koopas nearby fall over. And maybe the curved red line at 2:40 would appear over the koopa. (As a lightning bolt) and at 3:15 the bouncy brick block would have been used for a bouncy level. Just like the mushrooms are.
Damn, that really pisses me off that they cut Wario and Yoshi from the game, eapecially seeing the trend of just using boring toads later on in the series...

The song loops 3 times and I know because I made a brstm file when I ripped it and used vgmstream to loop the song 3 times.
Pretty certain those backgrounds were to be used as backgrounds for the bottom screen of the DS as I recall there was a way to get backgrounds for that

Man, some of those cut World themes sounded cool. I would have really liked to see what the machine themed one would have been like. Especially now since all the New Super Mario Bros. games always have a mountain and a forest World, and a machine and prehistoric one would have been really interesting.

Lots of those unused items were in the earlier game sm64 ds. This could suggest that nsmb used a tweaked version of the sm64 ds code.
There was a screenshot in a magazine that confused me, there was a mega goomba in one of the world 1 stages.
