    I learned from a Chinese man at a Chinese buffet when I was a kid. He saw me struggling, and came over and showed me. As he clicked the ends together, he said "chop chop." I will never forget that nice man 😂

    This is actually the first chopstick tutorial I've ever seen to actually make sense because it starts with the bottom one! All others I've seen are like "grip the top one like a pencil then slip the other one in inside the thumb" and that's the story of why I've always been bad at chopsticks 😅

    This is terrific. I’m self-taught and have eaten with chopsticks daily for many years. I’ve gotten proficient with my dexterity but I’ve death gripped them and I’m getting cramps. I was holding them practically one on top of the other!

    It is also important to hold near the end of the stick. I see some people holding them at half way or closer to the tip. Makes it much harder to work.

    I learned from my Chinese best friend when we were both 7-8 years old. I used to eat all the time at his mother's restaurant.
    Now when I eat Chinese food I always think of him.

    I was fostered by a Chinese family as a small child and learned to use chopsticks before a knife and folk. I got out of the habit as I got older but will always take the opportunity to use them. Great tutorial thank you.

    Our first grade teacher in Seattle had us all learn to use chopsticks at lunch time, we did this the whole school year. Funny to watch us eating sandwiches, oreos, chips and an sppke, but it worked, 55 years later I still use them with ease. Best teaching experience.

      Love this; also grew up in WA, my kindergarten teacher would always bring new and different foods for snack time.
      My absolute favorite was baked tofu triangles with ponzu sauce; we only ever had it once, but even now over two decades later I remember it fondly.

    I learned how to use chopsticks during lockdown. I used wooden chopsticks to train, started from picking up random things such as erasers and rice grains. Rice grain picking helps a lot ❤

    One other small tip to remember: no need for excessive force. Just squeeze enough for the food to be held in between the chopsticks.

    I genuinely adore basic tutorials like this... like I get along fine while eating, yet mindfully practicing the gripping tips feel much more secure with the larger wooden cooking chopsticks I use with a wok 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 keep up the great ideas and content

    I definitely was using my Chopsticks incorrectly I don't use them often but looking at your video I see I was using them incorrectly I was laying both chopsticks on the same finger. I knew that the back one didn't seem to have to move but still I didn't have them separated on two different fingers like I was supposed to so thank you very much.

    so glad you shared this short. I'm not sure if my grip has at all been correct but it hasn't stopped me from using or finishing up a meal yet. Maybe with this lesson, I can improve upon my chopsticks stills to start using them to cook with.

    I can use them, not exactly like that, but good enough to pick up a grain of rice. I do it my way, which isn't something people would notice I don't think and personally I love them. I use them whenever I can. They are great for grabbing a pickle or an olive from a jar too. Great fun! Thanks, Mandy. It never hurts to learn new things! 💕💕💕

      If you're not holding your chopsticks correctly you stick out like a sore thumb to those who know how they are held. And yes, it's very annoying seeing them held incorrectly.

      I don't know why because I am American of German mix decent & have never known anyone Chinese, but just by picking them up my hand automatically knew how to do it😮!?? I have no problem with chunks of meat or vegetables but I just can't master rice😢!! I think I might squeeze too hard? But I keep trying❤!!!

    I'm an asian but in my country (India) we rarely use chopsticks or you can say we don't 💀

      ​@@OddDuck9000He meant we don't use it as frequently as East Asians use it for their daily meals.
      We mostly use our hands, spoons, or forks depending on the dish we are eating.
      Chopsticks are used only for the time we go for East Asian cuisine. But not everybody can use them, as they are hard to use.
      I like to use them for snacks too, to avoid getting my hands dirty lol.

      South Asian especially India,Bangladesh,Pakistan doesn't use chopsticks a little bit in daily life. Not even in occasion, we use it in Chinese or korean restaurants. That's one of the reason why people doesn't know how to use chopsticks in these countries. It's not our culture.

      Same here. I've been using them since I was around 8. My dad (who was Ir ish American lol) insisted that I learn different skills like that. Now at 40 they're just a part of the kitchen, and stopped being a novelty a long time ago.

    my hand must be different, because if I do this the bottom one slides up my ring finger and the chopsticks cross each other

      coolensam, You aren't applying enough pressure on the bottom chopstick with ringfinger and thumb. Press up with your ring finger and down with base of thumb to prevent slipping/sliding. It takes practice to strengthen your ringfinger, try picking up things with it and thumb for a few days

    My nana grew up in Vietnam and Taiwan before moving to the US where she had my stepdad, she says i’m the only one in the family that uses chopsticks correctly and i am the only black person in my family😂
