Hey everyone!! Thank you soooo much for the likes, comments and subscriptions! I really appreciate all the love and I will be sure to catch up on the comments and have a new video for you all soon. I know some people are not fans of the gel I used and I appreciate your comments. I understand that it isn't the healthiest for your hair but it has worked for me on my over 8 year journey of having locs. I still have my edges and my hair is thick. Any build up issues I can do an ACV rinse and I am good to go. Please remember this loc journey (and any journey for that matter) is completely about what fits your needs as well as trial and error. I challenge you to find what works for YOU! It doesn't have to be black gel or any gel but let it work for you and your hair. I made this video to show what it is I do to retwist to give you inspiration and some ideas on how to do yours. It is up to you on how much advice from the video you want to incorporate into your own routine. For my friends who have commented against gel or concerned about the build up, I will work on filming a retwist tutorial without gel or any heavy product while achieving the same neatness. Until then, thank you all again for all your comments, feedback and wonderful support. Ya girl feels loved!! God bless! ❤🤗
I had dreads for nine years. My hair was thick, beautiful, and long! I used that same black gel and swear it grew my hair. I just started my second loc journey after being a loose natural for a little less than four years. I'm pretty sure I'll be using that same black gel when I do my first retwist
For those commenting on how the gel she is using is bad for your hair and not to use it, ya'll must be blind. I mean look how long and healthy her hair is. Not all products work the same for everyone but obviously it is working for her.
BelovedHoliday you don’t see what I see in the salon when people follow this using this black gel stylist don’t use it anymore for finger waves I have to correct a lot of issues Using this gel it because of the alcohol in it She has breakage along her hair line there should be none of your hair is healthy
Not saying she does this buy I've noticed Some people get sponsored by certain products tht they don't use. I think it's good tht others give the build up warning. I noticed this with other channels. And they just simply comment in the commentd and dont acknolwdge tht it isnt good to keep using on your hair. They just like comments and keep moving. Smh
Hair line looks quite healthy to me. Let her live. This is one video with one routine. We don't know how else she manages her hair. Her hair can manage it. Mine can't so I don't use it. Neither do I have the time to clean that up. Gorgeous locs!
Your hair is beautiful and healthy!! People always say don’t do this don’t do that to their locs but if it works for you then it works for you! We are not the same!
Thank you for being honest and showing what you use on your hair. A lot of people do not completely show what they use leaving people to guess or they lie about what they use. Beautiful results!
Alluring Discussions I learned so much watching her. I used black gel for in the back and another gel towards the front where it’s more visible. Loved the results! Thank you 😊
This tutorial is one of my Favorites. I’ve had my starter locs for a solid month and some days now, getting ready to wash and retwist for the first time!!
This video is a life saver. This guy asked me to retwist his dreads and I said of course😰. I found this video, btw, THE BEST ONE, so now I feel a much better on retwisting his dreads. Great video! Nice and neat
So so cute! I’m going to attempt to retwist my locs. I started my locs journey 1/2020 the growth has been unreal but since we’re on lock down I have to do something! Thanks for sharing your awesomeness
Yep! I love to have my edges look practically painted on too! To moisturize after a wash i put olive oil in my hair and work it through feels great and leave my hair soft. I can do a full retwist layed edges and all with just water. I use a water bottle and really soak each section im working in and instead of using clips i will let a bundle (sometimes my whole head) of locs twist back onto itself kinda like how you do on your locs that have longer beds. If i want it to hold its sleekness ill use a bit of olive oil eco styler gel as i twist. Once my whole head is done ill thoughtfully pull my hair into a pony tail so my roots can be stretched and straight then ill put some Jamaican black caster oil on my hair line with a bit of gel and edge control brushed on top.(same concept as your black gel and hair spray) Then ill tie my hair down and let it dry.
This came up when I searched for loc retwisting its a very simple but informative video I’m going to try this right away thanks for the great technique
I find it funny how people are telling you how bad the gel is for your hair but you have years of healthy Locs on your head lol. I will try it. I workout everyday and need a stronger hold. Thanks for the great vid
it does not matter I used the black ampro from 2010- 2016 n my locs were past my hips, strong as ever and thick i combined 3 in all those years, build up a bit but that's y u wash ur hair, it works well, try it n be the judge.
Nail on the head! I've been locking 13.5 yrs and while I have never used black gel, I do use a clear locking gel. As she stated, a deep cleanse of my scalp each wash and a prescription shampoo vs otc versions gives me no problem and takes care of everything. I stay away from SLS or any derivative. On internet stylists with honorary hair licenses...When I started locs, ppl had something negative to say about the outcome from retwisting each week for the first 2 yrs. I knew it wasn't ideal or recommended before I did it, however, I was bodybuilding and working out 2x/day 6 days/wk, not to mention working in corporate America with senior VP...I wasn't walking around with a dirty smelly head. Never had any issues period! I wore a sweatband or tied a scarf around the edges during exercise to minimize straggly hairs.
Everyone is different. I noticed a lot of people on UA-cam with locs have 4c hair but if it works for you hey. I don't have 4c hair so gel will not work, it will curl it up and I don't want gel in my locs. That's just me.
The simplest neatest ive seen on UA-cam.. People say Prostyle(Black) gel builds up on your hair..but I only believe that if you are not washing thoroughly I need some hold my hair is very soft and kinky (4B) ... I have baby locs. I'm going back to the old school route and trying this! Thank You!
seanpaul hayes hello there. I’ll be a year in October, this whole journey I’ve struggled wit issues cause all I read and see about gel and locs were not so grand. Well just yesterday I stepped out of that mindset and revised my staple concoction for retwisting. I added 1/8 cup of Eco wit Argan oil and 4 tbs of raw honey to my okra and flaxseed gel. Huntie child let me jus say gel alright wit me. Yes I shampooed to make sure Nuttin wud hinder or interrupt how this new concoction works on my locs... I’m loving the hold, especially these edges I had to flat twist. I’ll try to update in a few days
This is the best video I have seen. Ive tried all the other b.s but the way she did that with just brown gel & water is PERFECT!! THE waxes & all that other high priced garbage does not deliver the same result as what I just saw her do. Im glad i watched this
Am going to start some up on my own and learning how to maintain them after a fresh wash. Learning a great deal so far and the best tip I've heard was you saying not to retwist dry hair. Good to know...I didn't know that and probably would've tried it, lol! Thanks for the info and now I'm a new sub bc of it all.
This was so helpful. Thank you so much. I have sister locs and have been locked for almost ten years. My loctician kept raising her prices so I have been trying to teach myself how to tighten my hair by twisting instead of using the locking tool ( which I attempted and it was an utter nightmare). Your video has been extremely helpful.
This might be my favorite video in all of my loc time. I love that you showed how to get those edges and dreads with larger beds, that's my biggest issue. I will definitely be trying the hold spray and wrap method. Thanks for sharing! 🥰
Very nice job. Thanks for sharing. Today I am three weeks into my loc journey. I don'have as many love as you do. My hair is thinner than yours, I hope my love grows as long and beautiful as your love is. Thanks again.
This is honestly the best one I've seen yet I just started mine recently and I'm gonna try it this way but what can I use to make em lock better and faster if possible
Great results! Your hair looks great. I’ve heard that gel wasn’t ideal for dreads because of product build up but I’ve come to the conclusion that some things work for people and some things don’t. As long as your hair remains healthy then do your “thang” 💁🏽♀️.
Love love love your retwist results sis! I am almost 14 months in on my loc journey! I love the maturity of your locs and u are definitely loc goals! TFS! Sooo helpful 🤗💛
I hit like before watching the whole video. Even though I watched the whole video if that makes sense!lol Anywho, your locs look nice & moisturized. I can’t wait to try locs for the first time on my natural hair. Once I do, I will keep you posted! 👍🏾💜
Coconut oil actually hinders growth and promotes drying. it is too thick of and oil to be effective you would need to use so little of it that it would be better to find a far thinner oil that will penetrate the scalp and not just sit on the top giving you the feeling of being moisturized while actually taking you out of the game
Been using coconut oil since I went natural. It's the only oil that actually keeps my hair moisturized. It makes my hair soft and adds shine. My hair is VERY thick and nothing else penetrates my scalp or leaves my hair feeling as soft. I still use it now that I'm locked. However, I'm not a fan of the smell either lol. @LYTEYEARPRODUCTIONS It hasn't hindered mine or my mom's hair growth and I've never heard of any other naturals with long, thick hair having that problem either. My hair is mid back length.
I’m not good at laying my edges and retwisting my locs but the way you did it was so simple ans easy to follow, I have a date coming up and don’t have time to make an appointment so I’m definitely going to follow your video as I go. Thank you for this awesome video 😊😊. Please continue to make more
Yay! I definitely understand and struggled with laying my edges properly at first. It takes time but you got this!! So glad this was helpful. Have lots of fun on your date and thanks for watching!❤
Very very nice. I've been thinking about getting Locs for awhile, and this has really helped me. Thank you, and continued blessings on your journey! 💙💙💙
I would add that if you use a warm blow dryer on your head after twisting, etc., you will get a result like the salon. Blow drying all the way down the loc when damp helps restore its shape and firmness. The heat will also help your gel (I don’t use black gel) set.
Be careful. I started experiencing traction alopecia after 15 years. The first front row and the cowlick area. Keep an eye on thinning locks around the front hair line. Look for changes in size from the end all the way to the roots. Your locks look lovely. I would like for them to stay that way. 😉have a blessed day
How many people are here in 2020 because COVID has your salon closed and you are looking crazy 😬. Very informative video! Will give it a try, pray for me because I am NOT a hair person. 🙂
Beautiful I used to have them at one time pass my hip but they got a little heavy and I wanted a change. Never I think about flat twisting the front. And doesn't really matter what you put in your hair as long it agrees with you. To eaches owns. Sometimes I wish I kept them but I fine with it the way it is. Stay Blessed
To be honest I was immediately turned off by the idea of the gel but I noticed that you have no build-up in your dreads, your hair is very well maintained and these edges of mine need some help and control. LOL
Don't be. I was too when I started but honestly it is not as intimidating as it seems. As you continue to do it you will learn your hair and better understand what works for you.
Hey girlie You are so adorably beautiful with those cute dimples! 😄👌🏾 stunning retwist your hair looks so healthy and the colour is gorgeous. Makes me miss my coloured Locs so much! 😩😩😄. Good video.....can I ask where you get those black strips from been looking for them. 💕
Awww thank you so much beautiful! I purchased the wrap strips at my local beauty supply and that is the only type of store I purchase it from. Hope that helps!
I was wondering if the ampro gel worked for retwists!! Thank you! I have a jar at home, so I'm going to try on my next retwist. 🙌🏾 Your locs are beautiful!!

How do I keep my locks moisturized?
You are so pretty
@@noellizsmart it is my favorite! Flaxseed gel is cool too but it flakes on me and I don't always have the time to make it.

Watching this because we're currently on quarantine. I'm 5 months Loc'd & Hopefully mine comes out just as nice. Thanks for the video. Wish me luck.

My mom’s licensed hairdresser uses gel too so idk what these ppl are talking about!
If you need to use gel..organic aloe vera gel is the best to avoid the nasty buildup form black gel

Thanks for wrap strips never thought of that because I like my edges to be layed down as well. Also the twisting to the front needed help with that.

Great video! I'm only 4 months into my loc extension journey and was having trouble with my edges! But not anymore! Thanks for the tips🙌🏽
Best retwist I've seen so far on youtube
Okay first of all those dimples are gorgeous, you remind me of my niece. Secondly thanks for the tutorial because it gets expensive!

THIS IS A PHAT DIRECTORIAL I APPRECIATE THIS!!!THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD!!!💯💯💯
Fantastic tutorial on the “how to” and great tip about two stranding those “extra” edges! Your locs are gorgeous!!!
Just starting out about 2-3 months in...I love it wish I would of did it sooner....love ur technique 🙏🙏
LaLa Blessings Me too. My only regret is not doing it sooner
Use coconut oil to soften your roots and peppermint oil for the tingle
R S thanks hun. I use those now, however not a fan of the smell of coconut oil after it settles in your hair lol
Create & Pray no problem. Not sure of what other oil would soften your roots/ new growth.
I use sweet almond to soften
I’m not good at laying my edges and retwisting my locs but the way you did it was so simple ans easy to follow, I have a date coming up and don’t have time to make an appointment so I’m definitely going to follow your video as I go. Thank you for this awesome video 😊😊. Please continue to make more

Very very nice. I've been thinking about getting Locs for awhile, and this has really helped me. Thank you, and continued blessings on your journey! 💙💙💙
Your gorgeous AF!!
Great video I really really enjoyed every moment of it!
Thank you for the flat twist on the edges. I have hair that’s always getting out of the twist and I hate it
Your hair is lovely. The gel works well for you!
Great job! I love how that went
Your hair looks lovely you did a pretty good job! You are beautiful with those dimples and a gorgeous smile.
I would add that if you use a warm blow dryer on your head after twisting, etc., you will get a result like the salon. Blow drying all the way down the loc when damp helps restore its shape and firmness. The heat will also help your gel (I don’t use black gel) set.
Yes thanks just started my locs in May and I need a retwist but you just showed me the way so im hoping you just saved me lol
Looks good...Great work ❤️
Be careful. I started experiencing traction alopecia after 15 years. The first front row and the cowlick area. Keep an eye on thinning locks around the front hair line. Black gel don't leave build up? What made you want to use the protein gel
To be honest I was immediately turned off by the idea of the gel but I noticed that you have no build-up in your dreads, your hair is very well maintained and these edges of mine need some help and control. LOL
Awesome. Definitely trying this
You have a great voice for this.

I use the Locking Firm Wax when retwisting. It keeps the root moist and in place
I'm jelly....your dimples...and that loc length on point! Ok what about using "Ebin 24 HR Edge tamer"
Thank you! Never tried it but I will give that a look. Thanks!
yes ma'am you got me super excited to retwist my locs🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 I'm still scared though lol🤣🤣🤣
Don't be. I was too when I started but honestly it is not as intimidating as it seems. As you continue to do it you will learn your hair and better understand what works for you.
Your hair is 🔥🔥🔥🔥love it
Yes I will try the wrapping paper for the edges.
Mrs. Lakima it gets those edges flat-flat😊
