@Tin Watchman I didn't see any weapons on them. 2 people died and one of them (a protester) was shot and killed even though she was unarmed but doesn't fit the mainstream media's narrative so no one cared.
There's one piece you forget. The most important piece of them all. The soldiers. They and their officers choose to follow him. If he does not have their support, he has nothing. In my country, something like this is happening. Things are just turned 180 degrees. Here it is the villains who made the protest and are protected by the soldiers. Fun right?
the thing is, that officers follow the same way citizens do. because even if you are a man in charge of a small army of 1,000 men, you are not going to stand up against the 30 other people who each have 1,000 of their own men that you think follow him. this is why dictators often have "turn in the rat rewards" because if one of those officers says the wrong thing around another officer or even one of his solders who really is loyal, his head will be on a pike. so the dictator stops speak through fear, and thus insures loyalty through fear. this is also why heros will often be killed, because if you give the people someone to rally behind, they can support the hero and see each other supporting the hero without directly saying they are against the leader until it's to late.

It's kinda terrifying if you consider that in the Philippines, it all starts to connect once you look deeper. First, the show of violence from the War on Drugs we had but never even won, only families lost their loved ones. Second, the newly passed anti-terror bill that let's them detain a person from only mere suspicion and no repercussions if proven otherwise. Third, the shutdown of a major channel network that is very keen on questioning the president's action throughout his career, the network was investigated and was proven that they are legally "clean" but was still shut down because the majority of the hearing agrees with the president, or atleast they fear him. As a young teen seeing this monstrosity of a person that relies on feelings rather than statistics and data to rule a country, it devastes me...
Meh if something doesn't work try something different. I haven't heard much out of the previous presidents of the country so that means they were rather ineffective or something. Oh well better action then inaction
Yeah, I thought of the Philippines too while watching this video. On how the "innocent until proven guilty" isn't going to work anymore. And the President just straight on ignoring Article 3 or Human Rights just so he can do his campaign against drugs and not even doing anything to possibly stop the current pandemic from becoming worse but kept on pushing to have ABS-CBN end. He was pretty violent before even becoming a president, publicly shaming people who did crimes and such not caring about their rights as well. As if he was trying to show people that he has power.. huh.. that people shouldn't do any crimes or else they would be publicly shamed for the whole country to see. Then he still became president even doing that.. people believed he has power, and indeed he have.. but he's using it in an inhumane way. Not totally inhumane, just violating human rights. He definitely has an iron fist. P. S. I'm sorry if this is long, I'm just slowly realizing all of this while typing it.
@Pelco Cebu City oh stfu 🙄 you're statement has been used a hundred times... but that doesn't negate the fact that the president is doing something wrong and is using his power for his and only his own benefit and the people who only support him. Don't blame pinoys if they're realizing what kind of a jerk the president is...
@Pelco Cebu City the president has prioritized other issues like shutting down a media company, passing a law with vague and problematic descriptions, changing the name of an airport, and so much instead of actually solving the issue of the pandemic. Because of his incompetent, the Philippines had the longest lockdown in the world with barely an case going down, there are much more active cases and it just continues to rise, while our economy continues to fall. If that doesn't anger you, then maybe you should open your eyes wider pa para makita mo naman yunh katotohan at hindi ka nagbubulagbulagan.
As someone who is living in a dictatorship and my life is in the hands of a really cruel government I don't know how to feel about this episode... Talking about these stuff sacres me. I mean literally saying that you don't agree with the government here has a death sentence...
I've spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out something to say in order to wish you luck in life, to wish well for you and any friends or family you have, but all of it sounded insincere or cheesy, which is not good when I really am being genuine in those sentiments. I have lived in America for my whole life, and I can't even imagine the stress that comes from that kind of control because I have never lived it, and I hope I never do. All I really can say is that I wish you and your loved ones the best life you can have.
This option would also fit with the hidden theme that the Far Cry tends to make your victories in games costly. If you survive to the end of a far cry game, you're scarred for life and the game world you have been playing in is usually worse off then when it began. Even the secret endings usually involve selling out to the games enemies before the game even begins. In fact, based on the everything I know about the games, I would say that not only will you play as the son, there will probably be three endings. A secret one where you join your dad and bypass the game altogether, a "good" one where you overthrow your father and the rebels take control, but they will make everything worse, and a bad one where you take control of the country, betray the rebels, and keep the regime in charge.
I'm thinking we play a older diego and as we play we get flashbacks to when he was younger and is traumatized by it, I have no evidence for this theory but it just seems out of place playing a far cry game as diego that young

Probably one of the most useful informative game theory on this channel. I really hope people in the less fortunate countries and oppressed can get the freedom they deserve as human beings
Ah, I recognize this as 'Selectorate Theory' as to how populations can be ruled by a political minority if that minority controls the country's wealth independent of the populace's productivity- CGP Grey talked about this in 'The Rules for Rulers' and is expanded on in the book 'The Dictator's Handbook'
Yes! Specifically on this scenario even when protests get overwhelming and information is available if the subjugated population doesn't have access to the tools to overthrow a heavy-armed government, and their chance to have access to the wealth to even continue living is gatekept by their subjugators, it can get tricky, it doesn't matter if everybody knows, if the illusion is broken and everybody is willing to protest, if a dictator has complete control and monopoly on power and wealth of a nation, the likelihood of being overthrown is reduced dramatically. Not to mention that every movement needs leadership, most totalitarian governments of the modern age are smart enough to collude with prominent opposition leaders (or create the illusion if they still hold information power) to create the feeling of an empty opposition, with the intention to eventually tiring out the population into not even bothering to keep protesting because it doesn't lead anywhere.
That theory also applies on the joker 2019 movie with Thomas Wayne and the Gotham protestors which started with Arthur shooting 3 Wall Street guys on the subway which started a movement
No you can still sidethrow him! And if you can do that and put a bit of work in it you can OVERTHROW HIM!!!! Do that and show that world that you are not a failure.
Great video but i have my criticisms: I)You forgot to mention that the main reason the Soviets fell wasn't necessarily because everyone just started to protest, but instead they only started protesting because of Gorbachev's Democratic reforms which allowed them to protest against the government, in 12:16 he is instead shown as a dictatorial figure which is more or less untrue. II) Just because a government is overthrown, doesn't mean that a shining democracy will emerge, the balance of power after a "populist" revolution is vacant and more often than not, a new sometimes worse dictator will assume power, to learn more about this i recommend you watch CGP Grey's video on the topic, "The Rules For Rulers".
"The notion of the people storming the palace, is how ever romantic, completly wrong. the people can only storm the palace if you loose controll of you`r keys to power, the army. the people didnt replace the dictator, the court did, using the peoples protests" CGP grey, rules for rulers.
Yo, Did we all forget about Iran's protesters when the country literally cut off their access to internet completely and killed the ones peacefully protesting?
The protests were actually backed by working class individuals. And it doesn't help that there's tarrifs and sanctions on them. So the people hate the government and then the US,etc don't like it either.
I love how he's not even allowed to mention China in that list of dictatorships cuz Ubisoft is partnered with Tencent. Makes this whole video ring hollow tbh.

It's also about whose needs the dictator actually meets. Got to keep their dogs fed so they don't turn on them.
is that romania or something?
Exactly the same in Honduras for a while

Thanks for the reference!

Great video but i have my criticisms:
I)You forgot to mention that the main reason the Soviets fell wasn't necessarily because everyone just started to protest, but instead they only started protesting because of Gorbachev's Democratic
reforms which allowed them to protest against the government, in 12:16 he is instead shown as a dictatorial figure which is more or less untrue.

Well, even if he didn't mention China, he mentioned it while talking about various dicatorships around the world ;)
As someone who grew up around people who escaped communist China I couldn’t agree more
@@ryanmaclean1720 okay "Ryan MacLean" chinese refugee and dissident...
@@Infiritthor bruv he said he grew up with people who did, not that he was one himself.
id love to play as anton's kid working to dismantle the rebellion. we so quickly assume we are the good guys in this game it would be a welcome change of pace to play as the villain.
You already did play as a villain in Far Cry 4.
@@alalalala57 thats a good point, you are playing as an villian whobdoesnt know he is a villain until its to late, and everything happened because the character based his aligience on ignorance of the real situation
Didn't FC5 do something like that? They shifted the bad guy onto you at the ending because the Seed family was right all along
Matpat: here’s how to overthrow a dictator
Actual farcry gameplay: that’s cute

7:07 romanian here from what my father tells me he had a friend who was arrested and taken to a gulag for listening to this radio station, i myself can't atest as im only 19 and comunism has been overthrown here for 30 years but from what my parents and older friends tell me it seems that if you were cought listening you were sent to a political prison to be tortured or to a gulag and if the securisti found out (basically romanian gestapo) you would be tortured interogated and eventually killed

You know that Game Theory isn’t about Game Theory when Film Theory covers Game Theory first.
